From the album: Guises of a Kitsch Con Artist
There was a brief period of time when Madame Pholnaset needed to lay low and distance herself from some associates she'd worked with in La Noscea. She traveled far and wide during this period in her life and acquired knowledge regarding various cultures. She would later ply this knowledge in her entrepreneurial pursuits as a merchant and artist. -
From the album: Vikohla
Having been escorted safely home Vikohla will be working as a Mist groundskeeper and singing telegram for the Maelstrom Company. Someone has to put up those seasonal decorations, keep the greenery trimmed and deliver voice messages in one hundred words or less. -
From the album: Vikohla
There are many potential dangers a traveler may face in Eorzea, even on its paved pathways. Thanks to the brave efforts of I'delia, Lihya, Kasi and Lucia the journey home was made a little safer for Vikohla. -
You're very welcome! If you're rolling on through the main story and other quests by all means continue, the gathering jobs are good for taking a break and they come in very handy if you give crafting a try. I hope the different activities help you to develop ideas for the character you might RP.

Welcome aboard @ShinDesoto I'm glad you're enjoying your time in FFXIV there's so much to do in this game! RPing adds a layer of player made content and Mateus is indeed a good server for RP events. You can also visit the Balmung server which has a large RP community. Heck, you can visit any server on the Crystal data center! \o/ There are a few restrictions (like not being able to check your mail) but as far as RPing goes you'll be fine. You may have noticed a lot of people using a custom emote command ( /emote ) while RPing. Like many MMOs the game has some character animation commands (/wave /cheer etc. ) but you can also create a custom emote text. Custom emotes won't animate your character but they'll help distinguish your RP actions from regular text posts. As for the lore of FFXIV... my goodness. I scarcely know where to begin! @_@ It's a very fleshed out world, to the point where you could literally have discussions on its laws of physics. This may be a cliche suggestion, and one you've already considered, but checking out some lore videos on YouTube would be a good place to start. You could even listen to them while leveling up crafting or any other content that's not too story intensive. That being said there's story telling and lore in every single quest of this game, I love it! When you first go to your job's guild and they explain the history of the guild to help add some gravity and context to what you're doing? That doesn't go away. Ever. If you decide to plant flowers as a botanist, or try your hand at fishing, the game gives you the option of being treated to lots of information about the setting and its characters. ^.^ When people say things like "take your time" or "don't skip the quests" they're not kidding around. You learn so much from the NPCs while simply playing the game at your own pace. If you ask people which crafting job you should take most will say "all of them". The two major reasons for this is that you can level every job and crafting skill on one character, so you don't have to worry about finding out which one is best, and in FFXIV crafting isn't a waste of your time. You can make good money pretty early, crafting jobs are never rendered obsolete by new content and the developers keep adding cool events that put a spotlight on crafting jobs. They recently added a Fishing Duty and a Gathering Duty which can be joined at relatively low levels. In fact, the fishing duty (Ocean Fishing) can be joined the moment you get your first fishing rod. The Gathering Duty (Diadem) requires level 10 in one of the gathering jobs (fishing, botany or mining). I hope some of this was helpful. I'm going to stop typing because it would be ironic if my post kept you from actually playing the game.

I've RPed with Lihya a bunch and time always flies right by because of how much fun is being had! Lihya's take on adding cat-like behaviour to the character results in a charming combination of grey morality and heroism of convenience. She's a Miqo'te who pampers those she loves and places no value whatsoever on the lives of her enemies. And she's adorable every step of the way. X)

From the album: Officer Westward
When Arcana was first inducted as a proud member of the Yellowjackets she thought the ovation she received was due to her abilities and being part of the team. That was partly true. It was more a matter of the relief that someone else was now able to shoulder some of the arduous build up of paperwork in her department, including requisitions for new chocobo, chocobo care supplies, educational material and riding instructions for rookie officers. Fortunately Arcana is an avid reader, a fast writer and seems impervious to boredom. -
From the album: Officer Westward
Working with the Yellowjackets, and the various communities of La Noscea in general, is going to be a challenge for Arcana. But if she can help novices better understand and get along with their chocobos, and improve living conditions for the faithful, feathered companions, it'll be worth the effort. -
[Mateus] Bastard Fortune Teller- Chce Lihzeh
Moon Type replied to Chce's topic in Chronicled Connections
Chce is a delightful character helmed by a kind and gracious RPer. If your character is seeking guidance, or you're just up for some satisfying dialog driven RP, I'm certain you'll enjoy your time with Chce! -

Madame Pholnaset always has a warm greeting ready, especially for those with the most gil. :3 -

Believing that Madame Pholnaset was partly raised by a cousin race of the Ananta is enough of a stretch, but her claim to have Ananta blood in her linage strains credulity. Yet when a baker accused her publicly in the marketplace of lying she dropped what she was doing and told him to prove her words false. When the baker tried to turn that challenge around and demand proof from Madame Pholnaset she told him that the burden of proof was on the prosecution, which was the role he'd chosen to play. She then turned an hour glass over and told him he had five minutes to make his case. When the baker protested that five minutes wasn't nearly enough time Madame Pholnaset pushed the hour glass aside, agreed with him and then gave him the rest of his life to disprove who she was. The baker suddenly realized that this was, for him at least, an impossible proposition. With the increasing pressure of the expectant crowd, and his nerves starting to fail, he took his leave and refrained from accusing her again. This is an example of how Madame Pholnaset, even when she's clearly full of crap, is able to twist a conversation around on someone at the drop of a hat. This keeps most of her would-be detractors from openly accusing her for fear of being made to look the fool. Unfortunately this sort of thing can reflect negatively on some people's perception of other traveling buskers, exotic merchants and fortune tellers with actual ability. -

I'd love to get a posh barge type mount or chocobo taxi in FFXIV, with the ability to switch sitting positions if possible. Perhaps it could be like the FFXV mount where your friends can join you, except you'd all be passengers lounging in the back. -

[A Realm Reborn Spoilers] Phalloria was raised believing that the fates were written in the stars and was obsessed with the relationship between space and time. When one of those stars, Dalamud, was pulled out of the sky the mural of the heavens was changed and her faith disturbed. At present Phalloria seeks exile, purpose and freedom in the land of Eorzea, but no longer feels a guiding connection with the stars. -

[A Realm Reborn Spoilers] According to Phalloria when Dalamud first turned the shade of blood and fire her people, who greatly admired the nature of the stars, were terrified. When she brought up the idea of seeking an audience at the Sharlayan colony a misinformed report reached her stating the colony was destroyed by a herd of metallic beasts led by half-triclops humanoids. It would be years before she could visit the abandoned colony herself and she stood heartbroken at the sight of what was once a proud seat of learning. She was eventually informed by locals that the Sharlayans left the colony of their own volition, which was an immeasurable relief. -

[A Realm Reborn Spoilers] Phalloria is said to have grieved bitterly when she saw what was left of the Sharlayan colony. She held the Sharlayan people in the highest regard and hoped to study among their number someday. -

Whatever her true cultural origins are Madame Pholnaset has an insatiable fascination with card games, astronomy and the study of arcana. -
From the album: Guises of a Kitsch Con Artist
Madame Pholnaset once claimed she was raised by a distant cousin race of the Ananta tribes. Unsurprisingly she can offer no proof of this leading some to believe she's simply telling a tall tail. No pun intended. -

Each of these outfits originated from a distinct period in Phalloria's life, as told by her. From an eccentric Thavnairian public official, to a runaway turned pirate, to a glamorous street artist to a nomadic merchant. -
[Goblin] Miqo'te Adventurer I'delia Tohka!

I couldn't agree more, I had a wonderful time RPing with I'delia! -

Living her present life as an artistically inclined nomadic merchant, Phalloria goes by the name Madame Pholnaset among many others.
