  1. People who are just... hella rude and horrible during dungeons. Took the BF and some friends into CT hoping for a quick and easy clear. Turns out the majority of group B were trolls of the worst sort and could not be vote dismissed since they commanded the majority of the party. Racist slurs, homophobic comments, all sorts of garbage on top of trolling on bosses and encounters. I don't understand the point.
  2. Jajara was influenced by a character I had briefly on Silver Hand when I still played WoW, a human rogue by the name of Lyssaria Crowseye. She was self-proclaimed to be the worst rogue in Azeroth: terrible thief, terrible liar, generally terrible at being sneaky at all. But she was honest and kind and definitely an oaf with all the charms that come with it so she managed to get by. I had a lot of fun playing a normal person who had no real aspirations to become a hero, who was constantly baffled by the lengths and dangers others would voluntarily put themselves in, and brought that spirit over into Jajara. At least the core of her personality, anyway: Jajara's actually decent at what she can do, though she is definitely very humble about it all. Delial was my main throughout WoW and XIV D shares a lot of WoW's spirit. Towards the end of WoW, Delial was spiralling down into a pit of delusion and lunacy over quite a few things, and I like to think that XIV's Delial was sort of born from those moments - that the looming ghost figure of "the Witch" is what she herself used to be. Their personalities are mostly identical, their loyalties and ambitions as well. XIV Delial is much more conniving and willing to dirty her hands, where as WoW Delial was more keen to protect her reputation as a supposed hero of the Undercity. They have loved deeply and had bitter losses and both battle with depression, alcoholism, and an inability to let go of the things that hurt them the most. Physical trademarks carried over: a single yellow eye while the other is damaged or missing completely, facial scarring and such, short physique and modest frame. Violet was an important color if only because it was the one associated with warlocks and dark magic in general, and so it plays a bit in XIV D's appearance and wardrobe as well. She also has a mount named Vigil (who was one a dreadsteed clad in violet barding), while Jajara has the pet named Dinner (who used to be a plain orange tabby).
  3. Jajara was raised with a "duty first, love second (if at all!)" mentality drilled into her, and for a time she obliged it. It's a nice and lofty ideal and being able to have that while fulfilling all that she is "supposed" to fulfill is awesome - and, as she had noticed, not always how things play out. Since leaving her home, though, she has gradually pushed herself away from tradition and has come to accept and even want love for what she might consider to be wholly selfish reasons. And that's okay! 'Cause now she's got an adorable boy to watch after and she couldn't be more pleased about it. It definitely helps that he can cook! Wooh wooh! She's pretty garbage at expressing all that junk, though. All that mushy stuff is definitely tricky. So she works and plays breadwinner instead. Delial, on the other hand, is much more jaded about it. When she loves, she loves deeply, and it is too often the case that she loses those precious few in one way or another. Generally by her own doing - be it by some form of sabotage or even violence. As such she is much more reluctant to afford anyone more than casual encounters or flirtations, ever steeling herself against falling into the trap of that dreaded sentiment. It isn't something she doesn't want, however much she might say. She even confessed to someone that she had at one point desperately wanted children, and she is getting to a point in her life where her priorities have to shift if she wants to fulfill those wants. Whether or not she can, though...
  4. I am very eagerly looking forward to seeing more of the lady Au Ra's customization options. Would definitely love something a little more fierce, yeah, and some thing more distinct than "negligible patch of scales between the eyes" or whatever that is. We've only seen a little bit - hopefully there's more to deliver. Fingers crossed! Either way I don't see myself rolling one.
  5. *watches the previews for the dungeons AND THE GOLDEN SAUCER* *rolls around on the floor*
  6. This. The males look pretty badass, but the females are so disappointing. They look like Miqo/Midlander females with a scaly tail stuck on. They don't look like they are even from the same race, it's so bad. 100% this. I love the way the males look and I am very interested in seeing what sort of customization options they'll have, but the ladies do nothing for me at all. Too petite, too dainty, ultimately even less appealing to me than midlanders/miqo'te.
  7. I'm remarkably cool with this. I may not be excited for the new race, dps class, or healing class, but I'm down with this. There needs to be a male version of this. I need dudes in bunny suits.
  8. Word. I was really hoping for something a little more ... alien I guess? It's unfortunate that one of my things is little ladies and big giant boyfriends because I am seriously considering rolling a dragonman for no real good reason whatsoever.
  9. Jajara is generally lighthearted and is more open to a bit of silliness. She's not very worldly and is most definitely ignorant about a lot of the things in Eorzea and its people, but she means well even if she goofs things up now and again. I definitely do not try to play up lalafell cuteness and so on: she's NOT a child, she's older than most of the people she knows/works with, and characters who know her well know she has her own problems and concerns and the like. But her optimistic nature lends itself to a warmer tone overall. When she's in FIGHT MODE!, though, she's pretty serious. Probably because it doesn't happen very often! She knows people will underestimate her because she's a lalafell and she definitely uses that to her advantage. Delial is more of a mix. Most of her interactions are cold and deadly serious, and that might be partly because that is what is expected of her. It isn't too often that she can be, gasp, silly with anyone, but the people she jokes and teases with are the ones she adores the most... if only because she likes them enough to show a bit of a different face around. In combat, like Jajara, she is all business. She is only OK with aetheric manipulations of either the hurty or healy variety and she's not much of a physical fighter at all. It would be horrifically easy to disable her in a fight if not flat out kill her and she is very aware of that fact.
  10. Depending on what else is going on (levelling like mad!! static maybe?!), I'd like to try and pay a visit. It has been much, much too long since Delial has stopped by to chill.
  11. Your health absolutely comes first. I wish you a speedy recovery. Please take care over the holidays!!
  12. Jajara Jara: Complete workaholic. Delial Grimsong: Generally horrible.
  13. Lately, it's been tanks who pull with Provoke. And then tanks who continue to pull with Provoke - who wait for it to come off cooldown before they pull again - despite being advised against it because yeah it doesn't work the way they probably think it does.
  14. Jajara would probably ignore it, much to her betrothed's chagrin. If her clammy, sickness-ridden little popoto hands can hold on to a hammer then she can still work, gosh dang it! And no amount of fretting over medicine or sleep or food is going to change that! Delial would whine and carry on being miserable. She never whines, at least so far as anybody knows. She never whines unless she's too hot for blankets but too cold to not have blankets. She never whines unless she can't actually hibernate the sick away because it's just too much and too unbearable and she'll probably waste away within a few suns.
  15. For Jajara... An even shinier golden mallet. A new saddle for Dinner. Saddles are hard to make! A new set of scales, maybe. Anything that will help her with work! For Delial... A cute boy to fawn over her. Preferably a quiet one who doesn't think too much. A set of lock picks and a lock to practice on. She might need it someday. Something from home. A painting, maybe, of Ala Mhigo?
  16. Jajara is absolute garbage with weaving. Her family holds onto a long tradition of beautiful tapestries, fabrics, and dyes.. but Jajara just can't handle a needle. She's adequate at the very best, but even that is taxing. Delial has been doing some studies in her spare time but she cannot, for the life of her, understand how to summon anything. Egis are beyond her, and faeries? Assuming she would even suffer having one around, she just does not understand how it works.
  17. I had to do one for Delial too because why not. Character Name Delial Grimsong Theme Stage Description On an Ala Mhigan street. The place still hasn't been fully repaired from the war, and signs of damage are more than apparent, from holes in the buildings to tattered and torn gryphon banners. A few onlookers look haggard under the watch of armed Garlean guardsmen hanging about the fringes. Maybe in the background somewhere, one can see what remains of the temple of the Fist of Rhalgr. Moveset Description Delial is a ranged fighter who relies on a mix of ranged magic attacks and physical counters to rack up damage. Her physical attacks and movement are weaker than average. She takes additional damage from attacks coming from behind her. Rather than punches, she attacks with a tome and aether bursts which can be chained or built into proper combos. As the fight goes on, she builds Aetherflow which can be expended at either 50%, 75%, or 100% for a special ability. Special Moves Feint: Counter. She deflects her attack with a hidden dagger and then strikes back with it as well as a blast of aether, knocking her opponent back a short distance. Hrathi's Gift: Delial inflicts a small amount of damage upon herself in order to shoot a miasma of aether at her opponent. If it connects, the opponent suffers periodic magical damage over time as well as one random status effect: Miasma: Movement speed lowered. Bio: Magical defense lowered. Virus: Attack power lowered. Shadowflare: 50% Aetherflow. Delial calls down a mass of volatile aether which spreads over a small area when it hits the ground, dealing magic damage to anyone caught in its path of descent as well as its impact. Targets caught in it the affected area will not be able to move out of it until the effect has passed, suffering additional damage over time. Grimsong: 75% Aetherflow. Delial automatically counters all attacks for a few seconds. For every hit received, a Garlean soldier will return the damage plus 25% for up to five attacks. Once the counters have been dealt, the soldiers perform one final attack that becomes more potent depending on the number of soldiers called. If Delial counters no attacks whatsoever, she does no damage and her Aetherflow charge rate is halted for a period of time. Blackstone: Limit Break, 100% Aetherflow. The legacy of her blood is fire, and only when she is fully provoked can she call upon it. Delial floats into the air and becomes invulnerable to anything but aerial attacks. If sufficient damage is not dealt within a few seconds, she unleases a wild firestorm that envelops the entirety of the arena. Upon completion, Delial collapses on the ground and becomes incapacitated for a moment. If the attack is cancelled, her Aetherflow is expended but she only does a burst of damage in a small circle around her. The street becomes scorched black wherever the fire touched. Nemesis Raelisanne Banurein: Who is this woman, and what is her motive? Despite having worked with her for a time, there is still little that Delial knows of the icy Garlean save that Banurein knows enough about her to make life complicated. The time to strike is now. Gharen Wolfsong: Once fierce enemies, they now enjoy a cool truce of sorts. Yet she cannot forget that Gharen Wolfsong remains a traitor to her cause and may need to be put back into his place. Roen Deneith: A victim of much of Delial's treachery. She has thrown her lot in with a force Delial cannot abide, and Delial might take it upon herself to try and set the former Sultansworn straight... by force, if necessary. Intro Quotes General 1: "Let it be done." General 2: "You wish to test me? So be it." General 3: "Do you think this wise...? Very well." vs. females of any race: "T'would be a shame to hurt that lovely face..." vs. Highlander: "A pity. Are you a traitor, like the rest?" vs. Gharen Wolfsong: "That it should come to this..." vs. Roen Deneith: "Do not make an enemy of me, duckling. I will not say it again." vs. Mirror: "My own worst enemy...? Yes, it must be so..." Win Quotes General 1: "You waste my time. Be gone." General 2: "Was there ever any doubt?" General 3: "My cause is just, and I shall never relent." vs. Highlander: "You cannot hope to win. Stop this madness before it is too late." vs. Roegadyn male: "Quick and painless, as he would have wanted." vs. Gharen Wolfsong: "So, this is the fabled wolf? Disappointing." vs. Roen Deneith: "You would do better to heed my advice. I am rarely wrong in such things." vs. Mirror: "You must try harder, dearest. This shall not do." Lose Quotes General 1: "I will not regret... and I will not forgive." General 2: "My luck had to run out some time..." General 3: "This changes nothing...!" vs. Highlander: "N... no. I cannot accept this. I am... not wrong..." vs. Gharen Wolfsong: "Your blood... is stronger than I thought." vs. Roen Deneith: "It could have been... no one else, could it?" vs. Mirror: "How could this be? Am I truly so pitiful...?"
  18. Oli/Jajara/Chachan for Tiny Triple Threat? All must submit. Bow before the popotoes.
  19. I really don't know a lot about fighting games BUT HERE GOES! Character Name Jajara Jara Theme Stage Description Jajara would battle in the deep of the Sagolii, beautiful and deadly to all but the hardiest of Eorzeans. The dunes stretch on for malms and malms and the winds might occasionally provide some stage hazard now and again. The arena would be flanked by members of Jajara's clan: caravans, dunebeasts, and of course nomad lalafell all eager to see upstart Jajara bring some glory to their clan! From the top of the largest, most decorated dunebeast, a lalafell woman watches with a most sour expression... Moveset Description Without a doubt Jajara would be an in-your-face brawler. High damage, high speed, but no ranged attacks whatsoever. Grapples, if she can pull them off, are devastating. The bulk of her damage comes from combos, and the more combos she can string together, the harder she hits. Her aerial attacks are decidedly weaker than ground attacks. Special Moves Grounding Fist: A short range move. Jajara delivers a monstrous blow to the sand immediately in front of her. If her opponent is in its range, they take damage from the blow and sink slightly into the sands. Their movement speed is hampered and they cannot jump for a few seconds. Worm Bait: Counter/Grapple. Jajara taps suspiciously on the sand, appearing to be doing some sort of ... dance? If she is attacked during this time, she flings her target down while she launches herself straight up and out of the way of the sandworm that rises up to damage her opponent. Sandflurry: Certain punch combos, if performed successfully, have an added effect of a sandy after image which can deal up to a maximum of two additional blows that do 50%/75% of damage of the blow that triggered the effect. Desertbreaker: Limit break. Jajara grapples and flings her enemy into the air, and then jumps up after them to deliver a series of kicks to send them ever higher. When they reach their apex, Jajara channels the fury of her warrior ancestors and delivers a punishing flurry of punches that send her target back into the sands. If the move KOs, the stage is scarred with a vaguely opponent-shaped depression ringed with red hot glass. Nemesis Jojore Jore: Jajara's mother, and matriarch of her clan. She can summon up to two armed guardsmen at a time to fight in her stead, becoming invulnerable while either are on the field. They are armed with either a spear or fists and have a small set of basic abilities that can be used to combo with one another. Jojore herself is a ranged fighter who uses and controls bursts of sand for mobility and ranged attacks. h o r s e: Coral Sea special. A thing of nightmares, tall and ethereal and terrifying. It's terrible touch saps HP and energy, and its whispered n e i g h paralyzes all who are close enough to hear it. That it would escape the confines of the Still Shore is unforgivable. Intro Quotes General 1: "Hnph. Got somethin' to prove?" General 2: "Ya sure yer wantin' to do this...?" General 3: "Don't think I'm gonna go easy on ya." vs. Miqo'te: "You ain't s'posed t'be here." vs. Highlander/Roegadyn/Elezen: "Th' bigger they are..." vs. Chuchukepa Hohokepa: "Didn't I tell ya to stay home?" vs. Memeli Meli: "You again?! F-fine. Done it a'fore, I'll do it again!" Win Quotes General 1: "A'course." General 2: "I don't think less of ya, don'cha worry." General 3: "We ain't soft out here. Might learn a thing or two." vs. Miqo'te: "Best be leavin' a'fore things get worse fer ya." vs. Highlander/Roegadyn/Elezen: "... the harder they fall. Ain't that what they say?" vs. Chuchukepa Hohokepa: "Stay outta my way, honeybee. I know what I'm doin'." vs. Memeli Meli: "An' stay down." Lose Quotes General 1: "F-fer Twelve's sake..." General 2: "Fair an' square." General 3: "Reckon I ought be learnin' from ya... Next time." vs. Miqo'te: "Tricks...! Some kinda tricks!" vs. Chuchukepa Hohokepa: "C-can't be... brusin' my honeybee, can I...?" vs. Memeli Meli: "I... I ain't... givin' up...!"
  20. High fives for the ICO references. :cactuar: Edit: Extra high five for Suikoden 2, yo!
  21. Oooh this is back! I think Jajara still remains as she was before: a dog. Loyal, athletic, eager to bond and eager to please! She might be at the smaller end of the scale but she doesn't let that get in the way. (It's the rest of the world that is abnormally large anyways!) Delial is probably most akin to a crocodile. Generally reliant upon camouflage and misdirection, ruthless, and relentless once she has her teeth around her prey.
  22. (( This happened... some weeks ago! Oops! )) The more it went, the more she regretted even buying that stupid chronometer. "A technological marvel," the merchant had barked. "An invention to finally put Althyk's domain within the grasp of mortals! Whatever shall you do without it?" And in that moment Jajara had sincerely pondered just how she could live without such a thing and her coin purse found itself a decent size of gil lighter that very day. Jajara stared at it from her bed. She could not see its face, the odd mess of gears and bronzed gilding, but she could hear it. Every tick cut lout and clear over the occasional groan of the house around her, and with every tock she swore she could feel the blood throbbing through her veins. Her wounds were well on their way to healing thanks to Miss Reinette and Miss Jancis but they seemed stubborn as the woman who wore them, insistent on reminding her of their presence. Reminding her, of course, of the sea-snake that had delivered them. Her favored retainer, a bald-headed man who called himself Harvard to her and Blackstone to others, had answered her summons a mere sun after she was able to give it and brought with him a few things with which she might occupy herself: silver scraps, spools of threads and a simple loom with which she might practice her weaving, glass lenses, several needles and pliers of varying shape. Miss Reinette had been very firm in that she not busy herself too much but the longer she lay the more she felt the itch to disobey. Moving her right arm still left her sore but she had to do something and one of the few somethings she was good at was work with her hands. It took her bells longer than it might have otherwise but she fashioned a pair of reading glasses for Chuchukepa, which she managed to smuggle into his room when she was certain neither Reinette nor Jancis were on the prowl. The loom remained largely unproductive. She glowered at it and the numbness that overtook her hands when she tried to work a needle. The company had been unsettled when Sigurd broke the news. Two sightings of at sea and a call to arms from the Maelstrom. Had they not acted, surely there would have been more casualties. They would go out on boats, he said, and they would face them before they could reach the coast. They would be tethered as not to lose themselves to the sea. They would have crystals as not to lose themselves to the serpent. The chronometer ticked and tocked, chaining down the moments so that they did not pass but stumble on mind-numbingly slow. Across the light blanket that covered her lap, threads lay staggered like angry waves.
  23. "Perhaps I understand what it is to be hunted. But that is not why I am here." Her quill rolled between her fingers. In more glorious days she was quicker, nimble, as much at ease with a blade as then pen that was so often her weapon of choice lately. The choices laid before her were simple. They had to be, else she risk hesitation. There was no doubt in her mind that her good fortune of evading the wrath of the law would one day run out. May as well be suicide, she thought, This life as Sultansworn. "An easy scapegoat," she had told Ser Crofte, and she had meant every word. She was just as she said the most visible target in the game. As long as she remained in question, as long as Taeros held her leash, she stood in perfect position to burn for the error of her peers. "What I propose is a race." The more she pondered on it, the more ridiculous it seemed. How could anyone bury themselves so deeply and yet remain so completely unaware? The choice seemed obvious. In the silence of her room, Delial snickered before she sighed and gave her quill a quick dab of ink. "May the better woman win," Ser Crofte had said as she departed. It was true that Delial respected her fellow Highlander for what she tried to do. Of all the Sultansworn bar one she had met, Coatleque irritated her the least. In some small way, she wanted to sympathize. It took every fiber of self-discipline she had not to laugh in her presence.
  24. Delial took her time in draining her cup of tea. The man who brought the parchment to her attention snickered and sneered while she slipped it from his hands. Some minutes later, when it became more and more evident that his patron did not share his amusement, he silently slipped back from wherever it was he came. She was not watching, no, nor did she care. She set her cup down and re-read the words. Her elbow set down upon the table, and she held her chin in her hands. She read it a third time, frowning. "So much for subtlety," she eventually muttered.
