  1. Not even a handful of people know the real reason why Jajara left her clan and her marriage. I can't recall if Delial ever told anyone how she lost her eye, or where her other more obvious scars came from.
  2. this one is still my fav though.
  3. EDIT: Tucked everything under spoiler tags since it decided to link videos instead of linking TO videos. Oops! Jajara Jara Delial Grimsong
  4. these disgusting little freaks oh my goodness
  5. I'm still somewhat torn for who Jajara's TV counterpart would be, but Delial just hit me. The lovely Black Arachnia, from Transformers: Beast Wars.
  6. I think I tend to prefer smaller groups and one-on-ones, as I do get easily overwhelmed by larger events. That and I tend to be very shy around folks I'm not very familiar with. As for styles... I find the little moments between characters to be the most rewarding. Big stories are great and all and I do like having a "plot" I suppose but I take the most delight out of relationships, be they positive or negative, and perspectives between characters. I think the general theme between both of my characters is "just trying to get by" and while it means different things to each (Jajara preening herself into a craftsman, Delial struggling to balance her old life against her new), exploring how they perceive and get on (or not!) with others has been immensely satisfying to me at least.
  7. A good, honest job Work hard to live clean and true To protect her love
  8. I've been a little on the fence about letting Jajara's Glanzfaust being an IC thing so I'm probably going to glamour them back into a good ol' pair of tortoiseshell cesti. She and her family have a great respect for Adamantoise that borders on reverence - such hardy animals, weathering their way through the ages! So she has a pair to sort of honor that spirit, and also because they look hella swag. (Mostly the former, though.) She also was of the habit of crafting her own axes as her skill with them improves, but currently wields one issued by the Flames. Delial's... a little more complicated in that. There's a little story I have been trying to get rolling to have her find hunt down and secure a grimoire that a central figure in her younger life held. In the mean time she keeps a plain-looking tome and a set of blades (both of which were given to her by others) that aren't too special at all.
  9. *reflects back upon a certain choke hold...* *... swooning intensifies.*
  10. Delial is a bit far-sighted and, gasp, is supposed to wear glasses if she wants to read things for a fair amount of time without falling into a headache or some such. She is also mildly claustrophobic and really does not care for tiny, cramped spaces. Jajara is afraid of birds. That tough little lala who could probably suplex the average fellow into a pretzel if she were so inclined? Can hardly stand to be around chocobos. A company mate recently came into the possession of an apkallu chick and it makes her nervous.
  11. Jajara was raised exclusively amongst lalafell and somewhat racist lalafell at that. She has a deep-set distrust for miqo'te, particularly Seekers, and tends to assume that they are generally less morally conscious than others. It often colors her first impression of miqo'te (males in particular) and lends itself to some unfair judgement on her part. To be fair, she might unconsciously look down on other races in general, but the miqo'te get the worst of it. Delial for the most part cares little for race and more for homeland. Ala Mhigans, especially those she deems 'true' Ala Mhigans, are the ones she relates to the most and so she acts most favorably towards them upon first meeting. Midlanders... not so much, as she thinks of them slightly akin to rats who have spread themselves far, far too wide. In general she cares little for Eorzeans in general, having seen how quickly they turn on good (BETTER, in some cases) people just because said person may have ties to Garlemald, however insignificant said ties may be. But the opinions of others do not concern her.
  12. Jajara will either live to be an ancient little lalalady with a slightly less ancient little lalafellow at her side back in the dunes where they were from, or she will die trying to help someone dear to her, probably to little actual effect. She is no adventurer even if they've recently decided to sort of take a stab at it. A fighter she may be but she is no hero. Delial will either be killed by someone (not at all likely in service to another though there might be two people with whom she may make exception), or she will die as her mother did and take her own life. I see the latter being more likely: a quiet end on her own terms.
  13. I... am having a heck of a time working up who might kill Jajara. She honestly has basically no enemies whatsoever - there was one character who she did not like for a time but they sort of made up? And he doesn't seem the violent type. So in her case, it might be a matter of dying for someone rather than being killed by someone, and THAT list is a lot easier to imagine as she might have something of a savior complex that was made even worse by the death of someone very dear to her nary a year or so ago. Delial, on the other hand, has a way of getting on the bad side of a lot of people. Roen Deneith: It's almost happened ... twice? now. Delial almost expects it as she believes very much in cycles so either Roen or her brother Gharen being the one who finally puts her down is a fate she has contemplated often. Gharen Wolfsong: See above! Though somehow this seems a little less likely than his sister, Roen. Raelisanne Banurein: She has not heard much from this woman in a while and it worries her. The Empire does not forgive slights nor treachery and in leaving this woman's service, Delial may have branded herself a traitor. Edgar Gandervalt: While she doesn't see him as much of a threat (more bark than bite in her mind), he has made a very open threat. Like with Gharen and Roen, she ended his parents, and so it would only be fitting that he kills her - and he might just be emotionally unstable enough to actually do it. Natalie Mcbeef: She very much doubt that Natalie takes her seriously... but what does Natalie take seriously? Delial loathes this woman and would not shed a tear if she were to be taken from the world, a feeling which may very well be reciprocated. Perfect enemies, put together... What could possibly go wrong? Askier Mergrey: Bitter, bitter enemies... maybe? Probably. They discovered that they could not kill one another directly, but both of these little monsters love to scheme and make messes of other peoples' lives. Delial would be INCREDIBLY embarrassed if he were the one to kill her but, well, stranger things have happened. Qaeli Varily: She has no reason to doubt that this brash woman would kill her if she so much looked at either Roen or Gharen the wrong way. It's always the white haired ones that given her the most trouble, it would seem.
  14. I'd love to be added to the list as well if you don't mind! Portrait painting is what I'm after.
  15. My availability isn't what it used to be but I have characters on both sides of the fence: a member (leader??) of a Resistance cell that has gone back underground in Ul'dah, and a Galrean-allied Ala Mhigan who has made a career hunting said Resistance cells.
  16. There were people, Delial knew, who made their fortunes minding the fortunes of others. Men and women in neat little suits and dresses, spectacles perched upon their noses, full to the brim with the scent of hard currency. Said people existed throughout Ul'dah, the city where the wealth of the wealthiest converged into a sea that might, in some what, rivaled the glittering sands of the Sagolii. She did not trust them. She sat in her room and she counted again: One, five, ten. One, five, ten. One, five, ten. Her frustration grew with every pass of every stack of gil so carefully counted before, sorted into manageable little piles that slid back and forth as she checked, double-checked, triple-checked herself once, twice, and again. Of course she had been out on her own for quite some time now without much contact with her previous benefactors. Of course she had incurred costs: a place to sleep, food to eat and drink to drink, and a modest wardrobe as not to appear too plebeian. Of course she scrimped where she could: there were times she did not stay at the inn at all and it was still easy enough to earn a meal with the right sort of smile and just enough feigned interest. One, five, ten. Twenty. Thirty. Two-hundred. Thirty-six. Delial stared and rubbed her fingers at her temples. She could not go home with that, no, and even if she did her house would likely not even be hers with its occupants two - no, three years gone. Ul'dah would drain her and quickly. Fingers rapped on the table, drummed out a rhythm of her irritation in a vain attempt to distract her from a most dreadful thought. Just what exactly do normal people do for a living?
  17. What are you doing? The question was always the same, but the voice who asked it changed and fluctuated to -- what could it be, mood? Whim? Whatever it was, it was above all unwelcome. It may have explained the drink in her hand: some frozen concoction an unnatural shade of blue and violet which had been, at one point, set aflame by the small miqo'te who had grudgingly brought it out to her. It was just the fourth one in... probably so many bells? Probably. The sun was still somewhere overhead so she could not worry too much of that. Its placement was, as it stood, of no importance. Delial sipped and nursed, helping along the never-quite-strong-enough haze of casual inebriation. The beach stretched wide on either side of her, broad spans of pristine white sand mostly untouched but for a the few faint tracks of those who came and went. Specifically: herself, and the lighter patter of that miqo'te waiter. There were probably others, too, but as she could not see them nor the creatures who left them behind, she cared not to think on them too hard. Out of sight was out of mind and Delial, for once, was happier for it. Yes, yes. But what are you doing? Father asked her once when he first caught wind of the witch. Then he asked his dear wife, the flame of his life, the mother of his children. The woman could only smile, of course, and nod away his worries. There was naught to fear, of course, and little to worry about. The Gods were always kind to those devoted and little Delial would be no different. Brother, too, had found the question on their tongues, both of them: Westor with rage in his eyes, Harvard with terror. What are you doing? Can't you see? What do you hope to achieve? She thought on it more and more as the days passed, fighting the feeling of being adrift with every onze of strength she could muster. Indignation curled her lip and she silently snarled at the sea as to prove something, but the waves would carry on, carry off, wash away everything they touched.
  18. Jajara is quite pious and offers prayers to whole of the Twelve on a fairly regular basis - though not as regular as she herself would like. Those of her clan favor Byregot, Oschon, and Nymeia above all: Byregot and Nymeia for their ties to arts and crafts, which is the lifeblood of the clan, and Oschon accredited to their safe passage and dominion over the desert sands in which they dwell. She stands firm in her belief that the Gods play active roles in the lives of all Eorzeans, and while there are gods she worships 'less' than others, she makes an effort to pay respect to each and every one and takes great care not to be profane ("Thal's balls!"). Delial is a little more wishy-washy with regards to most of the Twelve. She believes, of course, and recognizes their place in the cosmos, but only feels obligated to bow before a select few. Rhalgr is her favored God and to some small degree so is Nymeia, though lately her views towards fate has soured. A grudging respect of Halone has been stirring in her as of late though she has never actively sought her favor.
  19. Jajara's been making engagement and wedding bands for some time now. It's always fun having folks commission things IC!
  20. Jajara Jara: Virtue: Fortutide Despite having run out on her home, her family, and the life that was supposed to be for her, she still clings tightly to the values and morals that the simpler nomad life instilled in her. She struggles with if not outright rejects many of the 'norms' that Eorzea has presented to her simply because she feels they are abhorrent or might betray her piety or morality somehow. Vice: Pride Though outwardly she might seem a bit doubtful or unsatisfied with her ability, Jajara still holds an obligation to push herself to do all she can when she can. This can often lead to her forgetting to eat, or forgetting to sleep... much to the worry of those closest to her. Delial Grimsong: Virtue: Justice Even if others might see her sense of justice as warped or, according to some, 'evil', Delial still holds strong to it. There is little that deters her from wishing to exact punishment upon those she (or those above her) have determined are wrong and she can be decidedly severe in delivering said punishment. Vice: Wrath/Pride There is a fire in her blood which often controls her when she is not careful, and she is often too self-assured to worry herself about being careful at all. Almost all of her actions and motivations as of late have been driven by one or the other and she has suffered tremendously for it. Even so, it is highly unlikely she will ever be free from what she is.
  21. Who says you have to take your clothes off to be a hottie? Jajara Jara is out to prove that tough gals are rockin', too. You show 'em, Jajara! Every lady ought to have a fine set of plate to stomp their enemies in. Don't forget matching weaponry! But even the toughest of dunesfolk has a softer side. And a lovely hat! Sunshine, sands, and surf! Cutie patootie lalafell represent!! Don't forget your sultry Highlanders! Delial Grimsong is nothing to sneeze at. Helloooo, nurse!
