  1. Lost River is a 1.0 Black Mage (retconned to Roegadyn from Eelezen), so, if you need something to deal with the void and the like; she's the one to see. Not to summon the void mind you, but to deal with it and all things from the yawning abyss. Of course, the price of hiring her and finding out she is a Black Mage are two different things.
  2. From all that I've seen, I need to find my sources to verify; but I believe all races but that of the Roegadyn and Lalafell are genetically compatible with one another; in short, a common ancestry between them while the other two aforementioned are in fact different species all together.
  3. There are multiple languages in the world; as given in the NIN storyline and the whole bit with the Xaela; as they also have a cross-tribal language as well as some also use clicks and whistles. The whole WoL can transcend all language barriers; as for others speaking a familiar language, it does not state for example, how long the Xaela been in Ishgard since Ishgard lands were there, long enough for there to be bloodshed between the Ishgards and Xaela as well as co-existence. As for other things, language barriers do evolve and dilute, especially when it comes to conquest. It isn't impossible to say, that a language shift would be when the Empire took over Othard and such, as the Empire seems to speak the same language as the Eorzeans, of course their tongue and teaching people that language would come. We have real world examples of that very thing. But, in the short of it. Its possible, to have different languages, be intermediate, or know fluent Eorzean tongue and other languages tied to their regional differences and sometimes racial influence, such as say, one Xaela's tribe who speaks with clicks and whistles.
  4. I like them all, but that expression on the Elezen. He looks so dour, I love him.
  5. Completely ignoring all lore; bending lore is one thing, but completely ignoring it all together is a totally different ordeal. Trying to force romance on others; as have been said by others, that is creepy and a no go. While I have a neutral stance on erotic role-play, the facet of trying to force it on others is quite disgusting. Characters without flaws and characters mainly all flaws. Either you're perfect or so broken even the gods turn their backs on you; both are boring to role-play with. Being RP'd into stasis and then leave for the week; mainly that as others said, putting you in a situation that takes you out of RP and then never RPing it out. It ruins your potential to roleplay more. People automatically winning; losing, unless agreed by the two people beforehand, automatically 'I win' or 'I lose', is quite boring and not compelling, as well it takes out the random chance in roleplay.
  6. I done this with another character of mine. One that didn't make so much as of a splash in the current RP environ. She wasn't ignored and some do remember her; but I did a Fantasia/Name Change. My friends are still friends, but we did it as new character, meeting new people, new scenario and such. My other character isn't dead, as she was with the Grand Company Immortal Flames, she simply was re-deployed on the Ala Mhigan front. As for my new character, I actually love roleplaying as her and she seems to be gaining much attention and enjoyment from others. For me, I think it was a great thing; As to the statement, Fantasia by the Lore team for FFXIV was verified to be completely OOC, as for people doing it, I'd suggest Glamour being the easiest alternative and an IC valid reason for a complete change. A lot of targets in levequests have them, why can't player characters too?
  7. I made mine; Khorijin Borlaaq. Poor girl is a little uncultured in terms of proper society; she did learn a bit while she was stuck behind borders in Ishgard. . . now she is out wrecking havoc in Eorzea; hunting in peoples ponds, eating candy weird, all insanity I have you! Khori is fun to play. In a cute sort of way. Until you get on her bad sad. No more fun cute Khori for you!
  8. And people lower strung than that; homeless poor peasants.
  9. I say play what you want; don't worry about what others have to say unless you are being highly abrasive with everyone else out of character. Cliches are everywhere, but who cares; this is a land of adventure, remember, you are not the majority of the world of Hydaelyn, but the minority. You can be from Eorzea to parts unknown. If you want to put a spin on your character, why not change the parentage instead of Hyur, why not say, you were raised up by Roegadyn, Lalafell; a beast tribe? What have you. It's always nice to take spins of a given foundation. In the end though, play what you want and as others said, keep it simple and then expand afterward for better results and stick to your guns.
  10. I have a Xaela; her name is Khorijin Borlaaq; yep, she is of the all female tribe in now a world full of men. Quite curious and terrifying all the same, especially when it comes to Lalafells, she cannot tell them apart unless they were nude or speaking. Why Borlaaq? There were many different types of tribes to pick from, fun ones; but I've never done any RP that had more of an Amazonian style approach; in the sense of Wonder Woman. So, I was always curious as to the hardships and oddities it would be to play from a tribe of your own gender where the other gender isn't necessarily considered inferior, but only needed mainly for breeding purposes. She will more than likely make people angry, uncomfortable, and curious of the opposite gender. But she will grow, will she find love? Maybe, enemies? Definitely, friends? Hopefully. She isn't abrasive, but as the new kid on the block with a raising of predominately females only, it will be quite the bumpy, but fun road!
  11. Lost River: Being a Black Mage of scholarly pursuit, she is one to go exploring new opened lands of ancient artifacts and what should be gathered and what should be destroyed. Ophelia Rainteau: Being an Garlond Ironworks engineer, she wanted to see how the Skysteel was doing with their magitek; as well to explore and help with the Dravanian threat; as it will end up spilling over in the rest of Eorzea if not solved. Khorijin: She passed through Ishgard to get to the rest of Eorzea. So its back and forth and wandering for her.
  12. So, when are we going to all start shouting at the Torgud to take a damn bath and put on some clothes? For me. . . the concept for my Au Ra and the one the Garleans nicknamed Vera-mortis, the Dotharl or Borlaaq tribes would suit. Or, to get into Eorzea faster; I could go Kha. It still works. Or Himaa and someone can play my sister!
  13. Lost River. . . If I could dress her the way I wanted to. And yes, she is a Roegadyn; just got to excuse the lack of dark nose portion sadly.
  14. Lost River being one of the Black (since 1.0 [Retconned Race cause sadly 1.0 had no FemRoes]) She'd thank them for the save; buuut also wonder and question as to why use such a dangerous spell, especially just to save one person. As Flare drains all the MP, is quite dangerous and tends to cause wide-spread devastation if not controlled. Also examine them for any form of void influence later on.
  15. And its coming out in June. My birthday is on the 17th. I know what I am buying myself for my birthday!
  16. I haven't really seen such a strange ratio you speak of, until you go as people have said, the Miqo'te. But at least its proportionate to lore, as others have already said. Sorry to keep echoing about.
  17. Well, the only way to settle this is to have Lost River get married. I need to find out myself!
  18. But Verad! Lost just put on her Wizard Hat and Robe on! On a serious note; Verad does have a point, but it all comes with a prime statement between all players regardless of it. The dividend of maturity varies between players in what aspects they put in their role-play and their ability to separate themselves from their character/role they're playing/acting. There will always be a hint of your persona or at least personal touch in any character you portray; you do what is fun. Drama will happen both IC and OOC, the best way is to find ways to approach and deal with it instead of forcing yourself fully from the situation; that tends to be the best way when its completely out of control. Always step to the side, count to ten and recollect yourself. Look at all angles of the situation when regarding multiple parties and also, don't be so prideful to say its always their fault nor so defeating its always your's. If either of those truths are real, something is wrong. In short, its all about fun. And when you are not having fun, there is no point. If your fun does not match other's fun, find other people to play with.
  19. My character Ophelia will be having all the things with Machinist; turret, weird gun and all. Why? Because even before the machinist was announced, she was a Magitek engineer. So, yup. It totes her 10/10.
