For the record, I wholeheartedly back this and hope it goes well. I'll do what I can to make it and show my support! As you said, it is very much like making connections, but I think that while the forums do offer a sense of community, it still doesn't quite have the same effect as getting together and just interacting with one another.

I would like to nominate my couple, Val Nunh and Faye Covington! How Val and Faye met isn't quite like the sudden romance that you often hear of, and it certainly wasn't love at first sight. Val was tracking a bounty through the Shroud and lost control of his chocobo, partially because it was afraid and partially because Val's temper isn't quite the best when it comes to keeping a mount under one's control. The chocobo ran Faye over, stumbled, and sent Val to the ground as well. Rather than go and see how the woman was, Val instead stood and decided to curse his mount out for being stupid. It was only after he realized that the woman it ran over was incredibly attractive did he give her any attention. The did not hit it off very well and Faye stormed off, angry. Val hadn't eaten in days, and the mistake had cost him any semblance of a meal. Angered, Val cooked and ate his chocobo and then hiked it to Gridania, where he sold the beak and claws off as well as some other trinkets for passage to Ul'dah. Lo and behold, wandering around in the Quicksand, was the same noble woman that he'd ran over a few days prior! She reluctantly hired Val as her guard, promising to feed him and pay him in exchange for her protection. The rest is fairly simple. Val expected a quick lay out of the woman, in which case he'd leave. She was not that kind of woman, and soon her attention drifted elsewhere. Val was determined to prove he was better than those that caught his attention and, after some time of awkward conversations and sexual tension, the two agreed to become a couple. She'd made Val another deal--she would date him in exchange for his exclusivity. Val had never actually tried a relationship before, so he decided he would! What Faye didn't know at the time was that he had planned on sticking with it long enough to sleep with her and bail. However, due to their various adventures together, he soon grew to respect and even love the woman. Now, the unlikely couple are engaged. She has helped Val to grow from a self-centered, irresponsible brat to at least something of a respectable individual. He helps her run her company and, though the two still occasionally butt heads due to their opposing views on the world, they ultimately continue to love and respect one another no matter what. Val would gladly give his life for the woman, and no one else has ever earned his eternal devotion. Aww ;-; thank you! Anytime you want to talk to Val/Faye and hang out with either of us on any of our characters, just let us know! We're usually pretty open to RP!
-
I could definitely throw Vallois into this =) I'll be on the lookout for someone to get an invite from!
-
You're welcome to ping me anytime for RP on any of my characters! I can certainly offer friendships, though I'm not looking for anything else =)
-
Val would probably be fire. It just seems to fit him the most. Melfice's I would imagine is Thunder, while Vallois and Cyrus would probably be Earth-based.
-
It depends entirely on what Val is losing at. If it's something he knows he isn't great at, he'll take it in stride. If it's something he thinks he's amazing at, his pride takes a pretty huge hit and he tends to sulk about it.

After reading that article, I can't help but to roll my eyes and think that people try way too hard to find things to be offended by.

Heya X'rhen! I don't really have much to offer in the way of tribal stuff, as my Seeker is from the Wolf tribe, but he did eventually make it to Limsa where he spent a few years with a gang doing less-than-savory stuff. I'd be up for them knowing each other through that or something, but Val currently isn't doing anything illegal and doesn't have his hands in that! Either way, if you're at all interested, feel free to let me know =)

Clicked it. Fml not sleeping tonight help.

I think it's a pretty great idea! I would suggest allowing the people to sign up that want to go first, and then pick judges that either A.) Don't know anyone attending, or B.) Aren't affiliated with the free company the contestants are in. It'll be hard to do considering the community, but.. well. I like the idea =)
-
Val doesn't really crush. The only person he ever crushed on, he wifed. The rest are just people he'd sleep with for a quick lay--and that list is relatively long. Well. Long in that it'd be pretty much any female he found attractive.
-
We'd love to have you! Just make sure the alt follows the ideas, more or less, and doesn't run around yelling "I'M A TURK LOL" and they're pretty much fine to be in =) And the idea wasn't entirely mine! I'm kind of just a messenger that thought the idea was also pretty amazing and fun =)

Uuuunfortunately, a round of intense work in my classes and then an annoying sickness hit me, so I haven't been able to do much in game! But they're certainly out there! We just haven't been able to get too much done x_x. There was a brief RP in the Saucer a while ago between the Turks and Val, which was incredibly fun and entertaining! I think most of the time they're going to be hanging near the lounge, as it's more fitting of an area. Once this stuff gets settled out, I hope to be putting more time into it =)

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Val replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I first met Vaughn when he turned my RP thread a little awkward! I loved the encounter, and he's been fun to RP with since! Aya has been an absolutely wonderful source of entertainment and positivity! And I love letting Val hang out with her and just be himself -
Sorry I was busy at work when you contacted me! Next time I hope to be more free so Val can hang with T'caska
-
T'caska is welcome to RP with any of my characters! The only one that's not listed in my sig is Vallois, though he's probably not going to be much fun for her anyway--he's just a merc that sits around and grunts. She'd probably get the most entertainment out of Val, as he enjoys joking around and causing mischief as well. Cyrus is deceased, and Melfice isn't a very nice person! Either way, you're welcome to contact me any time for RP if you see me online
-
Val and Faye, of course~ Vallois and Unmei! Cyrus and... Unmei!?
-
WE WERE SO READY TO WRECK FACE D8< Well. Faye was ready to wreck face. Val just wanted to watch whatever was gonna happen.. well. Happen.

Yeah, thanks a lot Sounsyy! I figure a lot of the information is in 1.0, which makes me wonder what other lore those of us that skipped it have missed out on. Is there anything on the Lifestream/souls themselves? I imagine since it's called lifestream, it's much like FFVII's. Would that be a wrong assumption to make? What differentiates one's aether from their soul?
-
This kind of picks up on what I mentioned about the wisps. They're considered/believed to be souls from the Void. Why couldn't they find a lifeless corpse and animate them? It says they're driven by primitive instincts and stuff, so it makes sense that they wouldn't really be able to function like a living individual.

I'd planned on responding to this sooner but didn't have time due to needing to get RL things done, BUT! If you check the wiki of most skeletal-based creatures, you'll find things such as: "Risen from the gave by some unholy magic, these skeletons roam the dark places of Eorzea with a hatred untold of all of the five races." Not to mention through the Tam-Tara quests, we find that Necromancy is certainly a thing. I don't think there's any real concrete lore on it. People obviously have souls, but how closely related are they to one's aether pool? Do people with better affinity for aether and its use have stronger souls/spiritual connection to the world, or? As someone before mentioned with it having some sort of connection to the void, I believe that's a good assumption to make. Void magic seems to be a good way to get done what is normally not possible, and if you look up the wiki description of wisps, they state: "Wisps are widely believed to be the spiritual remnants of long-deceased souls. They display only limited cognitive abilities and react to their surroundings driven more by primitive inherent tendencies than complex reasoning. Using these observations as a foundation for their theory, certain scholars have formed the hypothesis that when wisps and plasmoids cross over into Eorzeafrom the void, they mistake the glowing fireflies of this world as brethren and instinctively begin emulating their actions, thus the similarities that we see between the three families." So one could say, then, that it's possible to pull the souls of adventurers from the Void? But how would they get there in the first place? There's a lot that isn't really answered and more that is left to assumption.
