balmung Looking to get back into RP
Val replied to Jezune Garinthe's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'd be down for some RP anytime as well! Jezune sounds like he'd get along well with Cyrus =) or any of my characters, really! -
I can't imagine the amount of strength and will that this required. You, sir, are a god among men. Meanwhile, I still have to update my wiki for every. single. character. UUUUUUUGH

Seeking travelling companions, employment, and probably a pint of ale

I've got a lot of characters as well! Any of them seem like they'd be a pretty decent match-up. Feel free to contact me whenever! -
Definitely the dreads.

balmung Roegadyn Searching for Friends!
Val replied to abnormalnomad's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! I have a couple of options available for you to RP with if you'd be interested! I do have Cyrus, a very kind and equally simple individual. He's a bit of a squire/knight-in-training and is more than eager to help whoever he comes across. I think he'd be more than capable of hanging with your Roe if you'd like for him to =) I also have a few other characters as well! If you want to inquire more about any of them, feel free to check them in my description or whisper me and let me know =) -
[Balmung] Eccentric Hyur Male Seeking Friends
Val replied to AeolianMode's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'd be happy to RP anytime as well! Most of my characters can be found below. I have a few that he may be able to interact with =) -
Nothing really annoys me more than people that will start to RP with one of my characters, realize that the character is entirely devoted to his significant other, and then never RP with them again. Well, no. What annoys me more is when people realize the aforementioned and decide to try to weasel their way in by.. well. Doing things, flirting OOC, trying to start rumors/falsify things--basically being a creeper in an attempt to break the characters up through other means. I really don't mind when things happen IC and they stay IC. It brings a lot of decent and fun RP to the table. But I've found that most of the time, people don't do the RP and, instead, ask me/my partner about us and how long we've been partners and how close we are and what certain characters are like sexually and blahblah. "Will your character ever try to seduce mine? Don't worry I can take care of your partner" and such is just.. lol. Yes, we tell each other everything. No, you aren't being as slick as you think you are. It's just weird and strange and no. Go find your ERP/whatever somewhere else. Edit: Thought of something else! It's not really annoying so much as I wish people would just stop in general. Many see my character with his significant other and assume we want to be alone/don't want someone to walk up and say hi. It's absolutely the opposite! If we're in public RPing them, we want people to come up and RP with us! If we wanted them to have private conversations, they'd be in the privacy of their home/rooms

I have a character that is a Garlean, though she's pretty undercover. I'd be happy to RP with you anytime if you fancy any sort of social RP or perhaps need her for anything!

Val likes to drink and relax, though he's more roguish and doesn't much care for learning or anything! Most of my characters are listed in my signature and you're welcome to peruse them and hit me up anytime for RP!

I personally treat everything to do with the game itself as OOC. It has no bearing on my character. Val's a 60 NIN, but he is by no means an expert nor will he be for quite some time. The gear I have and the levels he has will have no bearing on power. To me, OOC achievement means absolutely nothing in RP. You managed to get a group of people to run a dungeon with you. That's great, but what does that even mean when it comes to the character? Nothing, aside from having a different set of clothing options. I will say that I can't quite help to look at lower level characters as inferior--it's just a thing of mine, I guess, but if the person shows themselves to be a decent and capable RPer then I'll simply roll with the punches provided they aren't absolutely outrageous and is willing to discuss things.

I put on a shirt once. It was absolutely awful.

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Val replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Clio is too sweet for her own good and is getting complimented on her amazing RP anyway, so she's just gonna have to keep being super sweet and deal with it :v -
When I first made Val, he was meant to be a selfish, womanizing bachelor that never settled for any woman and did whatever he wanted when he wanted to do it. I'd promised myself that he'd never actually fall for a woman and let it be that. ...Buuuut as most people know, that changed a few years ago. It was kind of weird, for me, because I knew I was in control of the character and I just couldn't get my head around the idea of the character falling for the woman in question. She did things that would intrigue him and piss him off all at once, so naturally he gravitated towards her. In XIV, he managed to join a company and now occupies a higher position. He was meant to be a troublemaker that got into bar brawls and caused general good-hearted mischief and chaos where ever he went, be it by purposely insulting others or being an all-around, general dick. He can't much do that anymore, and I have to admit that the character has changed a lot from what I originally envisioned him to be. But I think that these kind of things should be embraced, right? I grew to like the changes and, despite me sometimes wanting to take him back to his roots at times, I find his new direction intriguing and fun to RP. I agree that the situation can be very tug-of-warish as I've often gone back and forth on the matter. But I've put a lot into the character and I love the guy, so I've stuck with him and I think found a good balance in him needing to pick up this new mantle and grow up while holding on to what makes him, well.. him. I don't think there's anything wrong with abandoning the character if that's what you want, or making another. And as others have said, I don't think the MSQ gate should keep you from RPing what you want to RP. If you've got a level 4 that you want to RP as an Astrologian or a Dark Knight, who cares if you don't exactly look the part? I always treat the game as a medium for the RP and not take what it shows/has at face value. The only problem I'd see you facing is the people that do, or those that ignore lower leveled characters for.. well. Whatever reason.

I've been on both sides of the conflict, both as a good guy staring down the foe and the villain trying to get the upper hand. I think the confrontations should be considered with give and take. The good guys can't always win, yet neither can the bad. I think it's good that you've been very careful about it. I echo the sentiment. My villain, Melfice, is meant to be very powerful. Yet, because I acknowledge that not everyone may like that kind of confrontation, I generally avoid large crowds with him or keep him away/out of conflict unless the person knows what they're getting into. Even still, I allow people to get the upper hand should they find a way to do so. I'm not against it at all! It does tend to limit your RP unless you manage to make the character social. Melfice, for example, hates interacting with people but he does so if he feels the need and finds it to be worth his time. He is arrogant and condescending to those he finds intellectually inferior to him, which includes most people. Many don't like to interact with him because of his overall personality, but others do because they find it intriguing. I try to position my villain as an accessory to other people's plots rather than a main character for my own. With this in mind, I think it helps for me to assist others and provide the machinations for whatever plot or goal they have. Melfice doesn't kill or cause harm because he wants to, but because he has to in order to further his own goals, whatever they may be. Sometimes he helps the heroes/good guys, sometimes he's against them, and sometimes he does things because he's curious and wishes to see what kind of reaction it will garnish from someone or because he believes they stand to learn something from the hardship. It's left for some very entertaining RP and I think people that interact with him tend to enjoy him and never quite know what he'll do, which is all the fun for me!

Welcome to the RPC! I've done a bit of RP on WoW back on Silver Hand when it first released, and then Moon Guard a few years back. If you're in need of RP, check out some of the wikis in my signature and let me know if you're interested My schedule is relatively hectic but I try to find time for people where I can.

its not very lore friendly at all (I don't mean that as an attack, hear me out.) In lore, Sucubus are Voidsent that are drawn to and inhabit the bodies of dead women. in my own plots Nako has dealt with Voidsent, either sealing them in a host and then destroying the host so they died with it, drawn them out into a prepared vessel to store (ala the pot from the THM quest line) etc. Its a very much grey area, dealign with voidtouched/tainted. I know that this is how Voidsent Succubi are, but what exactly is the difference between Voidtouched and Voidsent, and is there anything stating that there isn't some way for the woman/man in question to be cursed by the original Voidsent to have those properties? I'm just mostly curious =) I don't mean to derail the thread.

Just gonna go ahead and say that Berrod is probably one of the best Monk RPers on the server that I've came across. He's absolutely amazing and won't steer any of you guys wrong. Good luck with all the wonderful RP that will surely come of it!

What does your character spread on their toast?
Val replied to Edvyn's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I guess whatever the hell Val tells Faye to put on it. -
emoting things like reading a book are pretty unreliable ways to get people to RP with you - they're far too passive and require other people to take initiative to interact with you rather than the other way round. it'll work for certain people, sure, but the average joe roleplayist doesn't want to go out of his way to chat with every person who stands by themselves reading a book in a bar. This is pretty true. A lot of people that sit passively will rarely get walk-ups, and those they get generally aren't the kind you want. It's best to just try to brave it. Generally, I observe the person or group that's RPing for a while to see if it's something I'd like my character to get in on. If I feel it's something they'd be welcomed in, I'll approach. If I'm still not sure, I'll whisper and ask if they'd like some company =)
