  1. Done in one. There's always going to be the sort of cartoonish side-story stuff like Hildebrand and the like, but it's practically impossible to take that seriously. German suplexes exploding are clearly meant for comedy purposes, not to be an actual thing that happens canonically. Of course, there are people that'll argue over how the game featured it so it was canon by proxy. Game's fantasy. Lore's fantasy-bordering-technology like pretty much every other "classic" FF game. Super modes and Chosen Ones need not apply; Game's got plenty in the main cast as it is. Not even gonna read the rest. This is 100% how I feel about this.
  2. I feel this way as well. If the setting itself is anime-based, then I don't mind it. ..But this isn't anime and, while this is Final Fantasy, it also has a bit of realism and physics to it. If I see someone wielding two swords and flipping around in full armor like wannabe Clouds, I'm out. That being said, I do enjoy group roleplay, but I also enjoy things that just.. come together. Plots and whatnot are perfectly fine, but I don't like defined ends. Instead, I like to throw things together and let characters interact as they would without anything to restrain their actions. To me, it allows for the best (and most authentic) outcomes of the roleplay itself. That's not to say I won't RP things that are planned. I will, but if I already know how it's going to end, I feel forced to not allow my character to act how he normally would and otherwise restrained to ensure the story meets the expected end. I also am not very fond of running content as RP, as then I feel too restrained by the game and its mechanics. My character isn't interested in running through the same caverns of Sastasha for the thirtieth time trying to save the same people from the same fate. At some point, he'll just say that the people constantly being captured deserve what they get.
  3. "His training has made him nimble and allows him to move more quickly no matter how heavily armored he may be, allowing him to fight on par with lightly or unarmored opponents." I would say, at least where RP combat is concerned, that you simply have Niklas in light armor, himself. Having a heavily armored opponent that can move as quickly/unhindered as people with no armor is a bit OP and breaks the much-needed balance between speedy, lithe fighters and slow, bulky fighters. There needs to be some sort of balancing point as to the armor he wears VS his speed. This is why Val wears little to no armor, most times. He's a speed fighter and not built to wear anything heavier than leathers or VERY light mail, and even then he prefers to only cover necessary spots such as his chest/forearms/whatever. It helps keep his ease of movement and gives him at least some basic protection against weapons should he manage to be caught by one.
  4. I'll also throw any of my characters into the hat as well These look wonderful!
  5. I actually have a character that already has himself a summoned voidsent, but a second likely wouldn't hurt! It's very intriguing and, if you want, I'd be more than happy to discuss some details with you and possible plot lines and whatnot! To get a look at the character (or his public face, at any rate), feel free to check out Melfice's wiki =)
  6. Hrm. Melfice tends to experiment on people. Most of the time he just does something subtle such as stealing aether from them in order to feed his Mistress, though his antics are truly only limited by his imagination and curiosity. His most recent thing to do is revive an individual tainted with some dark energy and send them into the world without them knowing it to mingle and infect whoever he came in contact with.
  7. Val kept close attention on both the noble and his guard, even as the others spoke around him. He took a step forward this time, his hands on either side clutching into fists. "I know y'can't do shit, but maybe that big guy behind ya can." He gave a nod toward the large Roe behind him. "What d'ya say, big guy? Care t'go a couple'f rounds?" Regardless of how he responded, Val took yet another step toward the nobleman. Unfortunately, the cork that sealed his mouth shut had been popped and he was rather itching for some action after all of this boredom. "Like th'rest'f 'em say. Ya ain' wanted here an' th'lady ain' f'sale, but I'll make ya a personal deal. How 'bout y'walk yer ignorant ass over here an' lemme pound ya in th'face a few times. Then y'can leave with 'er. That is, if ya survive."
  8. Normally, Val would certainly understand where the man was coming from. It wasn't entirely too long ago that he, too, was spending his earnings from odd jobs and working with the Flame on well-skilled courtesans and other, more cheaper forms of "entertainment." And while Val might be completely conceited and full of himself, much like this individual seemed to be, he was at the very least genuine and honest. And that's precisely why, after the man gave Val a wink, the Seeker bit down hard on his tongue in order to keep himself from mouthing off in quite possibly the worst way his lady could have imagined. She taught him that silence on such things was golden in situations like this. The more Val thought about it, the more he remembered he was in an alien world with people he still wasn't entirely sure he could trust. To act against the man without just cause--even if he thought the man had a stupid face and a weird way of speaking and was condescending and.. you know what? Fuck it. "Hey, asshole. How 'bout y'fuckin' respect th'house yer in an' stop being such a godsdamned dick." Whelp. So much for subtlety.
  9. Val had followed closely behind the group as they made his way back. He'd certainly caught the sight of S'kyla and her state of clothing, or rather the lack of what she wore beneath. Unfortunately for the Seeker, he couldn't help but to stare for the time he had. After all, it was was simply how he was wired. When the lady departed, only then did he realize that he'd actually looked and glanced aside to see if Faye noticed. He gave a small shrug and stated aloud: "Eh. I've seen better." The sudden addition of yet another voice caused Val to whirl about and face the noble and his rather large guard. He took one look at the armor, trying his best to denote any scrapes or tears or wearings in it before he took another defensive step toward his lady and squared his shoulders. He didn't much like the idea of an armored, fully equipped individual nearby, especially when he lacked anything to defend himself with. Just like that, the Seeker was in business mode once again. He kept his attention on the guard despite Eristan speaking to the two of them, though the way the man spoke forced a roll of Val's eyes and caused him to let out a small sigh. Great; he was about to be bored again.
  10. Val dislikes the rich, mostly because he's used to them looking down on him or seeing him at face value and expecting him to be worthless. In fact, when he first met his lady, he told her she was a stuck up Princess (thus the nickname) and ignorant for judging him before she knew him. Melfice judges everyone and dislikes most people. He hates physical contact. The only people he doesn't judge are those that share an intellect with him. Cyrus judges and is biased against no one. My sweet, summer child.
  11. >_> me and a friend two-manned it. Yeah, but don't forget that enemy spawns and stats increase with each person in your party, so that extra level 25 I brought along beefed up the epic enemies even more. When you have six yellow monsters raining down near instant death from multiple directions at once, things get less fun. True! It also helps that I'm one of those OP Blademasters and stealth to revive my party =x I'm a max bladedancer too, but I was playing on gunslinger just because my ult was useless against those monsters...and then it turned out that so was the gunslinger ult because it DIDN'T EVEN TAKE OUT THEIR SHIELDS IN ONE SHOT. Three golden gun bullets didn't even drop a single yellow health knight. :I Yeah I've honestly found that Gunslinger is only good in VERY particular situations. It's fun in PvP if you're accurate and it can take out a lot of weaker enemies if your team is getting overran, but... other than that, I stick to Bladedancer. Being able to go invisible and revive a team without worrying about getting killed in the process is a much greater asset imo

  13. I.. read and do a lot of console gaming. And by a lot, I mean "own-all-of-them" a lot. Most of the time when I'm in game I'm also either reading a book, studying for tests/doing homework, or playing a console game on the side. Multitasking!
  14. The Seeker kept his gaze on Vaughn as he replied. His eyes focused between the two, a look of discomfort crossing his features. He almost instinctively stepped closer to his lady and slipped his left arm about her. Rather than pull her to his side, however, he seemed to almost tug her slightly in front of him. Exactly which one of the pair was protecting the other, and in this case, what from? "I'd do th'same," he stated to reiterate what he'd hopefully made clear before. "Th'lady goes, I go. An' she knows th'truth'f it. Like you lot, I ain' ever found many places what want me t'be there or make me feel like I belong. Her side just happens t'be one'f 'em."
  15. Val Nunh: "Evenin' Gus. Been holdin' up well?" Gus Pumpkinweed smiles. "Well enough. I eavesdropped; y'said y'wanted a drink?" Gus Pumpkinweed: "Why go outdoors?" Gus Pumpkinweed: "I have t'best all in ALL Hydalen!" Val Nunh: "M'thinkin' 'bout it. M'he--ah." Val Nunh: "What sorta drink?" Gus Pumpkinweed: Pumpkinweed Ale, o'course! Val Nunh: "..Hm." Gus Pumpkinweed: "It's part o'why I'm rich, Mr. Val." Val Nunh: "S'that so? What's in it? Aside from pumpkins." Gus Pumpkinweed grins. "Allspice, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar, various spices an' all that sort o'thing." Val Nunh: "Idunno what any'f that shit is, but if it'll keep m'head from hurtin' I'll take it."
  16. While Mel isn't necessarily a mage (or says he isn't), his studies/experiments DO revolve around aether. Aaaand while he may not truthfully be kind, in public he certainly does act it. If you require someone for the part, I could definitely throw him in there for you and he'd likely get done what you need done!
  17. Pretty much this. Val got kicked out of his tribe BECAUSE he acted like that, and now no longer does because he's more or less learned (and settled).
  18. I do o_o Pffffft. We could probably set something up, then! Fun fact: Val started writing because a noble man hit on Faye and then told her that he'd contact her by mail. Val stubbornly said, "Pfft. I can write letters too!" And he's been secretly writing her letters ever since. I.. kind of want to have him learn to get better, but at the same time the comedy that comes from it is just too good to give up ;-;
  19. You don't want Val writing you letters. ...Then again, maybe you do.
