What physique does your character prefer? WAIT! In their significant other!
Aife replied to g0ne's topic in Fun Prompts
Lacey definitely prefers midlander men over any other sex or race. Preferably with lean, toned bodies and a sense of fashion. -
OOC wise sometimes I'm guilty of using Australian slang, especially shortening words i.e politicians, pollies. I usually only slip into it when I'm talking to another Australian role players and the rest our free company has no idea what we're talking about. I haven't really encountered any communication problems with North American or European role players otherwise.

The How To Help Newbie RPers In Making Connections Forum
Aife replied to Tiergan's topic in RP Discussion
I've been playing ffxiv on Balmung since a month after release. My first year as a role player on balmung I didn't interact with hardly anyone outside of my fc. I didn't go to any rp events. I didn't go to the Quicksand. I had hardly anyone to rp with because I actively wasn't seeking rp. Eventually my said fc fell apart. I came back from hiatus and decided I wanted a fresh started. I started rping with a new toon, actively went to rp events, the Quicksand and even walked around the Goblet a few times rping with people in front of their houses. Guess which one had the better response and resulted in me breaking into the rp community and having a close circle of rp friends now? My point, and this may came across as harsh, is if you're not actively out there seeking rp generally nothing happens. Don't sit at the QS not interacting with people and expect them to approach you. That generally doesn't work. Also, if you want something interesting to happen to your character, go out and make it happen. I've noticed a lot of rpers complain they don't have anything interesting happening with their characters or very few rp contacts but they don't actively seek out other rpers. If Aya is really "popular" it's only due to the fact that her character works at the Quicksand and is presented with numerous chances to rp which she takes. Want to make new friends? Go out and find them. If someone ignores you in the QS, move onto someone new or give it a few nights of attempts. I know I had to go to a lot of effort to establish a wide circle of rp friends and acquaintances but I'm glad I did. -
Lacey and Juno feels about each other cause they keep doing stupid things to try and keep each other safe cause they couldn't stand to live their lives without each other. Pt1kc_FniKM Andddd between the sheets. More from Lacey's perspective. bR5u9jb0PJE

I can confirm pretty much everything I've read in this thread is true. I recently purchased two eternal bond bracelets for my rp partner and I and I could only carry one at a time. I posted one of to him before grabbing mine from the mail box. I've seen people in my company selling platinum bands for around the 1.2 mil mark and they just trade them to the player after receiving their funds.

Personally I no issue most of the time rping with villain, especially since my characters less then a saint herself. Since I started rping with Lacey she's played both sides of the fence, a hero and a villain, or a villain whose worked for another villain. Nearly every interaction as a villain or Lacey being attacked by a villain/enemy has ended in some sort of delicious character development for my character (and sometimes their's as well) which I find thoroughly enjoyable. I do get that there is a stigma though. I've had a few bad interactions with players taking ooc thing icly which results in me quirking an eyebrow a bit. I generally back off after that because if someone can't see the line between ic and ooc they aren't worth rping with since I abhor real life dramatics. 9/10 though it's been a great damn time for all of us and we've had a good relationship ooc. I have noted though that a lot of role players aren't comfortable with horrible things happening to their character. When Lacey was violently attacked last year, resulting in some temporarily brain damage, by her former employer I had more then one rper contact me and ask me if I was okay with it or why I let it happen? Why'd I let it happen? Months of good character development, my friend. Why wouldn't I? My character turned over a new leaf after that and decided it wasn't wise to work for those sort of people anymore. She got into a long last romantic relationship and started on the road to redemption and trying to be a better person because of it. It was damn interesting. I think establishing boundaries are important though before delving into any darker rp. While I've never let Lacey personally torture anyone, I'm aware that not everyone is comfortable with that. And as for rape...I just...no. That's just something I'd walk away from cause it crosses a personal line for me. I think such things are important to discuss before delving into them ic. Everyone has different boundaries and I think as a rper they should be respected. You never really know the personal history of the rper and how you may trigger any real life trauma's.

Lacey on Juno and how "soft" he's made her lately.
-
Oh you! Lacey has had a huge crush on Thancred (the npc) and has commented to her boyfriend how much they're alike. He takes it with good humor. Aside from that no one really comes to mind.
-
Oh, naughty naughty! I'd love to join but alas my character is ex-Garlean. It's good to see some active Garlean rpers around though. Good luck with your venture. I know Sophia is always fun to rp with.

Lacey would totally compete. I just hope she doesn't accidently...assassinate the other competitors.

Regnum Garlemald is a free company based in Ul'dah with that goal but sadly their linkshell isn't that active.

It took me a while to settle on someone in real life who looked like Lacey in my head till I stumbled upon Julie Kennedy aka Lass, a model for suicide girls. Pretty much exactly what Lacey looks like in my head save for all the tattoo's.

Currently prepping Lacey ic for the machinist class. She'll learn how to go "pewpewpewpew". Aside from that her partner is going to turn into something reminiscent of this guy. FkLdq70Wugo I've actively been looking forward to how we'll resolve him turning into an out of control loon for months now since he first dropped the bombshell on me that he was going Dark Knight in 3.0 and was taking inspiration from Artorias of the Abyss from Dark Souls. Aside from that I'm looking forward to being involved with other people's rp plots involving the new classes.

What scares you away from a FC/Guild?
Aife replied to Branson Thorne's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
This is going to be a big post I suspect. In no particular order here are some of things that have made me leave a fc or decide not to join one in the last year and a half I've been playing. 1. Ongoing absent leader of a fc especially with no officer to pick up their slack. Why lead a fc if you're not going to be on every day or so? I know real life happens but running a fc is a big responsibility. I expect the leader of a fc to keep an eye on the happenings of their fc and any officers who may be taking advantage of their power. I've also seen fc leaders who are rarely on but there's no other officers left in charge to help run the fc and do important things like let people join with their alts. 2. Role play free companies that don't actually rp that much. I've joined a few rp free companies that don't actually do any active rp. There's no organisation of rp events, no rp direction for the fc. They've actively advertised themselves as a company that primarily role plays but they don't actually rp or their rp leads no where interesting. 3. Cliques. Cliques are a natural part of free companies. I get it. But when clique's get so bad that new members aren't welcomed to the company or involved in role play, they aren't going to stick around. FC members need to be mindful of this is they want to keep new members. 4. Officers getting away with abusive behaviour because of their position. Nothing makes me want to leave a fc faster now then seeing an officer being verbally offensive and rude and not being pulled up on it by anyone else in power....or any members in general. 5. Random invites to fc's. I'm not joining your fc if you send me an invite, especially when my search info says that I'm currently not looking for a fc. 6. Rumors. Rumors are bound to happen in the rp community but I've actively avoided joining at least one fc in the last year after I read a few reports on tumblr that a certain officer in a fc had been something-phobic a few months ago and actively told an officer inviting me to join their fc that I wasn't interested in joining because of it. 7. Mandatory voice chat. As someone who has ongoing social anxiety, using voice chat makes me extremely nervous. If it's mandatory to use voice there's no way I'm joining that fc. I think free companies need to be more mindful of this type of thing. 8. Constant sexual/racist ect ect jokes in fc chat. I don't mind a good joke here and there but when it gets to the point where nothing else is discussed but jokes of the sexual or otherwise offensive nature, especially in fc chat where -everyone- in the fc can see it I find myself feeling highly uncomfortable. If someone wants to tell those sort of jokes constantly they should leave it for their personal linkshells or for tells. I actively make an effort to make sure none of the more randy jokes I make in mine and my rp partners linkshell are shared in my fc cause I -know- they are not suitable for everyone's eyes to see. I expect the same from other fc members. I think that's everything. >.> -
Juno Iskandi and Lacey Orwell. How did Juno and Lacey meet? To describe exactly how they met and eventually began their romantic relationship would take forever to describe. I’ll try to keep it brief though. When Lacey first arrived in Ul’dah she worked as freelance assassin/spy.One day while Lacey was frequenting the Quicksand she was offered a job by a Doman man to spy on his younger sister, Hotaru. Unimpressed by his misogynistic treatment of Lacey and how earlier that day she’d heard he often beat his sister, Lacey not so kindly refused. Juno happened to be friends with Hotaru and over heard Lacey’s confrontation with the man. Lacey became friends with both Hotaru and Juno. Over the next few moons Juno flirted repeatedly with Lacey. Lacey’s responses were generally less then encouraging but yet she insisted on wearing the knee length stockings Juno seemed so fond of whenever they met at the Quicksand. When Lacey was attacked by a former employer she lost her memories and her ability to speak properly at times. Juno was frequently there to help her and provide comfort as she learnt how to be herself again and recover from a failed relationship with her ex-boyfriend. Somewhere between all this they became lovers but Lacey refused to admit she had feelings for the man even after she had recovered. With some persistence from Juno, Lacey eventually relented and admitted she had feelings and the two entered into a romantic relationship.

Lacey is English. She sounds English in my head and I use a lot of English slang when I rp her. I've been told by my Canadian rp partner that Lacey acts a lot like a French-Canadian woman but I personally have no experience with such things since I'm Australian. Lacey is a name of French origins however so I suppose that would fit as well. I picked the last name Orwell since Lacey's father ran a Resistance Movement in her home country on the continent of Ilsabard against the Garlean Empire when she was a child and was a writer of social justice and democracy much like the real world George Orwell. tl;dr: English but may have accidentally may have made her French-Canadian (kind of).

I see a lot of Meg Masters 2.0 from Supernatural in Lacey

Maelstrom officers, Yellowjackets, and capital R Rogues
Aife replied to Dogberry's topic in Chronicled Connections
Since the rogue guild came out in 2.4 I've conveniently made Lacey contracted to them. I'd defiantly be up for some Maelstrom rp since I'm always mentioning her work in my fc role plays but I've never actually role played her doing anything for the rogue's guild. -
The simple fact is, at this point in time on the topic of Doma, we don't have a lot of information. Lacey is an ex Garlean Shinobi who was trained by the Empire in Doma. This was my backstory for her about three months before the release of 2.4 and I had issues with Doman role players who insisted that a non-Doman wouldn't be trained as a ninja. I saw holes in the lore and it seemed viable to me that this could occur (and boy did 2.4 prove me right). It seems highly likely to me that there are lalafell in Othard since you see them in the Garlean Empire's army. If it's likely, I see no issue why it shouldn't be allowed. At the end of the day it's your character, no one elses. Role play what makes you happy. There's always going to someone who wants to argue with you about lore but no one can have clear cut answers about a lot of things about Doma at this point in time.

I love your art style. I'm a friend of Juno's and he showed me your art work of his character the other day. I can't wait to see the finished the product.

Lacey's current lover and close friend Juno. Not really a couple per se but they still look adorable together. If looking all angsty and serious counts as adorable >.>

I was happy enough to claim scarlett johansson but I'm sure a lot of people think their characters look like her so I'm going to go with someone else I found. Elyse Levesque from The Originals and Stargate Universe. Just...imagine she has green eyes (or I might change them back to blue since they were originally). http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140209142016/vampirediaries/images/a/a4/Elyse-Levesque-4.jpg[/img]
