balmung Pilgrimage to the Twelve Stones
Knight Kat replied to Knight Kat's topic in Chronicled Connections
I got started today WAY later than expected. Due to PMs, I am delaying the Halone and Menphina stone visits and starting with Thaliak tonight. The location is Mor Dhona, Rathefrost. x18, y17 Will be there for at least 30 mins unless I get people asking me to wait a bit longer. I will edit this post with an update once Kiht has left. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: Thank you Jancis for the RP! Kiht's question to Thaliak was: "Is leadership an acquired knowledge, or something someone is born with?" Her prayer to the God of knowledge was: "My gratitude, Thaliak, for my ability to learn and remember. Knowledge is power. I will not forget." Kiht is no longer at the stone. -
Kiht Jakkya has taken up a journey for the next few days where she will visit each of the Twelve Guardian Deity Stones in Eorzea (or try to). She has been overwhelmed by certain matters as of late, and even recently lost a friend. This journey is supposed to help her gain guidance from the Twelve as she feels she has few others to turn to right now. I thought it could be an interesting opportunity to meet others too. Perhaps someone else who is conflicted or religions, and wants to visit one of the stones while Kiht is there. This journey is part of her story, so it's not dependent on other characters, but others could make it more meaningful than short sight-seeing visits. I plan to have Kiht visit the stones in calendar order; starting with Halone then Menphina, and so on. I don't have a schedule planned out, but will post on this thread when Kiht is by one of the stones. Walk-ups will be welcome. I will edit the posts when Kiht is no longer there, or when she has moved to another stone. She will also stop at checkpoint settlements along at way.

Since leading an FC, I've grown more cold and calculating in some ways. Being a leader of an FC sometimes requires some moderation and hard choices. I have begun to recognize threats and stop them before they start. It also takes up a lot of my time, so friends outside my FC don't get as much attention as I would like to give them. I am sincerely sorry on all accounts mentioned above. I love my FC even if I don't always love being leader of it. To those outside my FC, I've not forgotten you.

According to the naming conventions, the only race vocally capable of properly pronouncing Kiht's name are Miqo'te. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Category:Miqo%27te Ki(short hiss)t While I'm sure other races can hiss, I guess the Miqo'te can make a very unique type of hiss. For all other races, the 'h' becomes silent. Kiht Jakkya = Kit Jack-ya Some have thought Kiht would be pronounced "Kist" or "Keet" with the (short hiss), but I don't think so; otherwise, the other races would be able to pronounce it.

All that amazing stuff you do...and how others can also do it
Knight Kat replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
I don't do much forum RP. Most of the threads I've been in were halted before completion, or Kiht played a guest-star role upon request. I personally don't enjoy writing forum RP as much, but I do read certain stories in the Town Square due to my interest in certain characters. I can tell you that at least some of the RP stories in the TS are copied from in-game RP and restructured to forum posts. I know some TS threads are stories more than they are RP. My "A Scout's Trial" is the biggest forum story I have ever created, and it chronicles a big event in my character's story. 90% of the time, I prefer my character's story to be made in-game with other RPers, but that one I felt I should make myself. It was a rare opportunity to portray my character exactly as intended. It turned into a sort of forum RP, and still needs to be completed, but I wrapped it up in-game. As for you, Seriphyn, I -dare- you to participate in a Town Square story, or make one about Kale. I would read the hell out of it. Go for it. Never hurts to try it once, right? -
Use a video to describe your character's class/job...

This plot was -long- and very enjoyable. I want to offer my sincere thanks to Verad for running it, and seeing it through to completion. The parts where Kiht participated will be a chapter in her story I will never forget.

Due to the recent large influx of new recruits, we are temporarily closing recruitment for the Free Company. We need to get all these new people adapted before we open back up again. Applications can still be submitted, but will be put on hold until we open recruitment again. However, the link-shell is still open to recruitment. Anyone who contacted me before the posting of this message will be recruited if they desire.

Kiht would be a Dentist.

If Kiht saw the glass filled half-way from an empty state, she would see it as half full. If she saw it drained half-way from a full state, she would see it as half empty. If she finds a glass with half its possible volume, and did not see its previous state, she would look for containers or sources of water near by. If there are sources near by, she could assume the glass is half full. If there are no sources near by, she can only assume the glass is half empty as evaporation would soon be rid of it all. Now, if it is in a place where it rains a lot, and the glass is exposed to possible rain, it could be seen as half full as it may never be empty. If its in a place where rain is rare then it is half empty as it may not be full again until the next rain. If it's in a place where rain is moderate, she would need to do meteorological calculations to come to a theory. Since she can not do meteorological calculations, she would just smash the glass with a rock to be rid of the issue altogether.

Your Character's Beliefs And What You Do With Them
Knight Kat replied to Verad's topic in Character Workshop
I love that Kiht was cited here, and it's very accurate. Friends, family, traditions and honor. That is what she lives for. She's never had lofty ideals, or concepts of good and evil. To her, people live in shades of grey where some are darker than others. I play with Validation, Challenge and Undermining in mind. Validation: Friends, Family and Shades of grey. It's hard to go wrong with value for friends, family and open-mindedness. These are meant to be her benevolent values. However, moral challenges can even arise form these. See below. Challenge: What happens when resources are limited, and your friends and family must compete with others to survive? Who gets to thrive? Who gets to suffer? Is there peace and compromise that can be had? What if someone's "noble" ambition threatens the way of life for your friends and family? What if there is a law that threatens your way of life? Should neutral/innocent parties be sacrificed for one's friends and family? These are realistic moral challenges that I am glad to see in the RP community and game lore. Undermining: Kiht has some traditions that I expect to be undermined, and never OOCly mind if they are because I do not share them IRL. For example, her matriarchal upbringing makes her doubt men and their leadership potential. She has racial bias. She thinks city-Miqo'te are waiting to be taken advantage of. She believes in Twelve deities, and prays to them. She is not very scholastic. Ect... -
May Update! We are still very active, and doing better than ever.

What does your character spread on their toast?
Knight Kat replied to Edvyn's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
The forlorn, ground-up and cooked remains of fallen Ixal warriors who were shamefully defeated by a five-foot tall Moon-Keeper girl with sharp metal objects. -
This is very much how I play Kiht too. I've been playing her for over a year, so her story is long, and has branched out into many other plots. She has developed to become more worldly as a result. However, at the end of the night, she still returns to her group's cottage in the Black Shroud to share meat from hunted game with them near a fire.

Some of all y'all are really good at character creation! I'm being really indecisive about concept, but I've made three Au Ra so far.
-
To me, it's all about -respecting- my character's concept because that is what I do for others. If someone wants to compare their character's capabilities and power to my character, I'm willing if it's an actual discussion, and not just a game of "no, mine is better than yours!". In other words, if I were to free-form combat against any player-character, I would want them to know about and accept what my character can do, but also learn about what their character can do. This usually requires having spent time RPing with this other player-character though. In the scenario you present, most of the time I would call for rolling if they wanted to fight. If they don't want to roll because they believe that, no matter what, their character is stronger? I do not see that as reasonable, and would just end the scene. Some of the best bad-ass characters are those that can portray their character as a bad-ass without needing to disregard the power of others. People should put their characters on whatever pedestal they want as long as they don't try to kick the pedestals out from under other characters. Then again, I've heard the story of a chef with a skillet who beat a Lancer due to rolling. That sounded more like a comedy routine than a duel. Even choosing to roll can be unfair, so the trick is to -always- respect the concept behind peoples' characters. Sorry if that didn't directly answer the question, but I see too many variables even in such a specific scenario.

I'm almost certain that the Redbelly Wasp Bandits are all Duskwights. Almost. I can double-check that soon enough. As for Keepers of the Moon, here's the proof: Warning: the following are major spoilers from the Moogle Delivery Quest "The Past is a Story We Never Tell" and the Archery Guild Quest-line. I have narrowed down the screenshots as much as possible, so there might be some lacking context, but I took screenshots of every scene in those quests, so I can link more. As always, people should play what they want. I like to think of lore as a good means of authentic inspiration, and not information that should restrict people. Therefore, I am not advocating that every Keeper PC in the Twelveswood be played as oppressed by society. However, if someone wants to know if there is racism/prejudice against Keepers, there is the proof in my spoiler above. People can argue that that is a representation of something uncommon, but it's hard to say in this game sometimes. My personal interpretation is that the racism exists, but is not everywhere and everyone. Such a thing is realistic after all. We also have what the devs said on the Las Vegas Lore panel about the races not getting along, but standing united in the face of the many threats in Eorzea due to necessity. I say, people should use the information as they interpret it best. The most important part is telling a good story in the end.

*peeks in* What in the Seven Hells is going on in here? ....Uh oh.

JUMPING ON THIS ONE BEFORE IT GETS SWARMED! MINE! *ahem* I have read countless tidbits of lore form the Archery Class Quest-line, Quests in South Shroud and the Moogle Delivery Quest called "The Past is a Story We Never Tell". All are regarding the culture and lore around Keepers of the Moon. On request, I can link screenshots and quotes from all this that I saved. To answer your questions: Keepers of the Moon are sometimes referred to as "savages" by Silvarre (Elezen senior member of the Archery Guild) from the Archery Class Quest-line. In the Quest-line, you meet with the infamous leader of a Keeper poacher group. She hints at archery being a point of pride for Keepers of the Moon. However, you also have a Keeper character, Leih Aliapoh, who is an adventurer from a farming village. She too has been raised with pride in her own family's traditional archery. She is not a poacher. Regardless, Silvarre calls them both "savages", and treats them as inferior. So, there is racism against Keepers, but it may not be prevalent enough to -always- keep them at the bottom of society. There are Keeper Wood Wailers, Keeper Adders, Keeper Guild-workers and Leih Aliapoh is allowed to become a senior member of the Archery Guild. The Moon-keepers can be seen dotting the map in Gridania. In the South Shroud Quests and the Moogle Delivery Quest "The Past is a Story We Never Tell", The Coeurlclaw Poachers seem to be considered a bastardization, or even an abomination, to Moon-keeper traditions. They give Moon-keepers a bad name, but many Keepers go to them out of desperation. It is referenced several times that some Keepers go to the Coeurlclaws because they can't afford to feed their families or pay for medical treatment; especially, after the Calamity. This seems to tell me that they usually have a low-class standing in Gridanian society. Heck, even the speech given by the Elder Seed-seer describes how Gridania's (Twin Serpents) banner is a representation of unity between Elezen and Hyur. I'm pretty sure Keepers are not mentioned in that speech. Despite the bad reputation, many try to be perfectly law-abiding members of Gridanian society. Traditional Keepers, described by Mauh Lihzeh in the aforementioned Moogle Messenger quest, do believe in respecting the Twelveswood and its Elementals. They can be sentimental and family-oriented. TL;DR: The Keeper Poachers are the exception, not the rule. Unfortunately, they are the exception that gives the Clan a bad name. I would say there is wariness of Keepers, but not enough to stop those that prove themselves from becoming part of society. It should be noted that Duskwight Elezen just might have it worse in the Twelveswood. However, that is a separate lore discussion.
