Kellach Woods replied to Michikyou's topic in Chronicled Events
Yeah something came up and I won't be able to make it. -
yes please let us ask deeply personal questions from strangers on the internets. no i won't be answering that. especially since the context was explained in the other line you omitted. people ain't been around is all.

That's not the problem - Low Level roulette shouldn't be not filled, it's 2.1 through 2.55 instances that's got me worried more than anything. Low-level roulette and level-appropriate dungeons will have MCH/DRK/AST from 30-50. However, at 50 how many will queue for Hard/Story-50 dungeons? And obviously I meant non-gated content. BC offered a new race that had a different introduction to the world (and one that was a lot more refined than the vanilla one enough that, on Horde, many ran to the Ghostlands as a way to get better gear overall doing the 10-20 of the Blood Elves than their own), a class that was previously unavailable to the side that got it (and in a hilarious decision, the only race that didn't get the Warrior class baseline until Cataclysm) and a new profession (Jewelcrafting was introduced in BC, IIRC). Cata reimagined the entire world in addition to granting two races that had (once again) extremely different introductions to the world, as well as Archaeology. You don't get fancy ungated distractions with HW - just the Au Ra. However, argument can be made that the fancy ungated distractions come with updates rather than expansions (Gold Saucer, requires level 15 which isn't a hard thing to do - can do it in 3 hours while falling asleep at my keyboard). And the reason I think it's going to be ironworks is mostly because it'd be helping them out towards the target iLevel of 110 for HW content. 90/100 wouldn't.

Saw the first post and answered. If you want the actual evolution from the initial roll to now I can definitely write that up, but I don't think I have the proper screenshots from back then to properly explain it. I saw the original cutscene having the adventurer come from a ship in Limsa Lominsa, I figured "Hm that sounds like a good hook". Asked around, saw it was a feasible thing in lore, so I just made up the rest of the lore. As Kell grew into his own character the lore itself surrounding the character grew. I'd say it stands on its own two feet but definitely needs crutches. Some stuff I need to fix. It's really in looks that he evolved though - Used to be I'd have purple/magenta highlights, or monocolored highlights matching his pants with dark lipstick, and try to play up the effeminate nature of the character. Naturally nobody liked it, or the few who did weren't vocal enough, so while I didn't change the character all that much (he's still very, VERY effeminate if he wants to), he's a lot more serious after a "life" changing event. Still got long hair, but ties it in a more masculine ponytail. He only wears lipgloss now, and even his outfits haven't changed much these days, keeping the "gladiator superhero" outfit as many hated it in open defiance of their taste and a way to affirm himself, which he hadn't exactly done at the time. From there, I started tying his outfits to his own personal lore as an attempt to keep close to home while he can no longer visit or get letters from it.

Usually in other expansions they threw something more than a new race, but y'know SE does what SE do. Still doesn't solve the "need 7 more dudes at levels nobody's gonna give a shit about to progress" problem I keep bringing up. Again, relying on the community is not a solution - too many problems (optimal play times, availability, classes, etc.) that makes this an unreliable solution. At least not without incentives for those who are helping out (offer level 60 tomestone bonus if you're helping out a new person in their first run through a 2.0+ dungeon would be the best way I can see this happen). People would fucking line up for this just to get a leg-up on the level 60 content. (Also, I'm thinking that in the case of Chrysalis and Steps you'll get a piece of Ironworks from the Story quest as a way to palliate for the fact that none of them actually grant anything.)

Eh, it's just nice to feel wanted I guess and lately in-game ain't been what it's used to be. Doesn't help that I'm kinda stuck in "find interesting RP or just grind your last levels to 50 on BRD/PLD" but that's just me personally.

Older threads mostly, this one's been pretty clean. Question was mostly facetious - 'cause this isn't the first time this very same topic's been breached, and every single time it was thinly-veiled attempts at making the new people feel bad for not being able to breach a pretty damn thick veil of established "canon". Hell, I've been here a year and for most of the people here I may as well not exist so. (Also immediately assuming people fear interrupting something important is kinda false, Usually it's more an experience of trying to horn in on some RPz but backs start turnin'. Different situations for different new people.)

So first I made Kell on FFXIV. Das it mane. I don't reuse characters through games, except maybe in looks and even then, because the games' storylines are so different.

If it's okay to flail about and be frustrated as a new person, why is it okay to shit on 'em for doing so?

From what I understand, the Dravinians are essentially trying to get rid of what they view as a bunch of bedbugs. Extremely resilient ones, but still, bugs. * * * I'm hyped for Ravana and the Gnath personally.

btw topless kell is in one of those screenshots. kinda like where's waldo but "where's that douchebag that extolls the virtues of elusive jump?"
-
Honestly the ilevel requirements are cake and they're helping out with those by upping the level of the rewards you get from MSQ. Although the easiest way to gear is with the 24 mans and I'm pretty sure those'll stop to a grinding halt come HW. Still won't help you find 7 other patsies to do Chrysalis/Steps.

you sure you didn't mean "serviced"

Lotus pods don't make my skin crawl. Scaremongering videos on websites supposed to inform that auto-play? You bet your goddamn ass.
-
Well. They enjoy the comforts of not being dehydrated, burned, and/or dying of cancer. 'k so you should probably go to Japan and explain that to the devs. Not because they allow us to do that but because their own NPCs do not follow this rule.
-
Well that certainly took forever to confirm.

Where do I even start... I'd probably say the biggest derail would have occurred in 2.4, where the seeds of all that ended up fucking up was planted. Upon FIRST hint of any discrepancy between assignments, weapon distribution, etc. He'd have dropped everything and performed audits, most likely at axe point because UNLIKE WHAT EVERYONE FUCKING ASSUMES he has absolutely no qualms about killing dudes (and like everyone knows he's simple so...) Crystal Braves lose 2 regiments, and support from certain individuals, but they are expunged from their taint and the whole plan falls short. Alphinaud is exposed as a complete fucking dumbass (once more) but learns his lesson before it's too late. * * * Sophie would be the biggest derail - Upon a single look at Urianger she'd just go "Nope. Fuck all y'all." Even assuming she could get over her prejudices for him, she'd probably refuse to go after Garuda because fuck Gridania, signed every Duskwight ever. * * * Oh jeez, Sasati would let everything happen, but jesus ass balls would she not take it, uh, sitting.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Kellach Woods replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
that's probably my fault. I tended to run with Defiance on in these instances just in case the other tanks aren't up to snuff (or their healers aren't) so I can more smoothly transition to the tank role if needed. (also I'll often let people with less ilevel main tank so they can get the experience)
