  1. Yup, only level 3s. Aka we will never see WAR/PLD/DRK LB3s.
  2. My point was more if you're interested in just straight up making money please advertise this fact. 1) Those who are interested in helping out will actually know what they're doing and who they're doing it for. 2) Those who aren't will just ignore it and not go instead of being attracted by false pretenses. If you're making a RP event, you're making a RP event first. If you're making a fundraiser, you're making a fundraiser first. It's not a question of never the twain shall meet but rather I've never seen any of these turn out a good experience for anyone involved other than those who collect the money.
  3. It's strange looking because the plot hooks are bad writing. Again, the events of 2.55 require that the WoL be the dumbest person on Eorzea, to the point where the only reason they would have survived everything was through sheer dumb luck. That may sound awesome to some of you, but to me it's just a level of disbelief suspension I cannot attain.
  4. -Lyngsath The NPC hunt continues... (Wheiskaet reacts to Postmoogle, but not MSQ so I have omitted him here - None of the Job NPCs react to MSQ except PLD)
  5. clipping galore, Iceheart more specifically. Like... c'mon guys.
  6. I have to admit to the same. Social events are better when they don't follow the same niche.
  7. I know what happened and more importantly why it happened the way it did. You would have been in the 100ks if Gwannes/Black Jack hadn't showed up to just stir some shit IC and hilarious though it was it took the wind out of that event. I've nothing against anyone doing it nor you for accepting - my priority is more that the event is fun for all involved and when that went down, I can tell ya it wasn't fun for me. First because it took forever to resolve (25 minutes is just straight up too long for a single bid) and second because... what do you do after you've been outright rejected by everyone there? You can throw a hissy fit, but first it wouldn't be IC for Kell to be doing that and second it'd be an obvious case of OOC/IC blending. I DID try to stick it out after that but it was essentially... boring. Barely anyone to engage (not the type to blindly barge into a group unless I'm given a reason to do it through text!) and at the same time thinking that if they hadn't put forth money I should probably not bother them much. A lot of the other ideas are interesting as events first and possible monetization second. Date auctions are about dat money first and attendees' enjoyment second.
  8. I've only heard of one where that did not immediately happen and OOC drama happened immediately after the auction, which is why the money put forward was not used. (Of course, I'm not super into the community and FCs and shit so I can only speak of personal experience) Typically, it's money that'll be set aside for that purpose if new plots open up, or if someone is selling and they have enough money. With the prices people are selling at, it's a market incredibly unfavorable to the buyer. As such, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that some people are waiting until Heavensward hits to see if some plots won't free up.
  9. It depends on what's your priority, really. If your priority is getting a house fast, then yeah. Date auction, con get a few people well-known on the server who has good connections who don't give a hoot about spending gil, and offer them like pieces of meat. You'll rake in some huge donations, around 100k gil per for the bigger names, and the rest of the chaff are just excesses. If your priority is making an entertaining event, then you know, don't fucking do that and instead concentrate on making a good event first, then wondering about monetization after. 'cause let's be real here - what we are talking about is monetizing RP.
  10. Oh, Warren, that's not the worst. The worst was for those who went after.
  11. If they suspect that the WoL is hiding there, then for sure they'd barge in - It's still Ul'dahn soil. Just that it's been set aside for adventurers to purchase and use.
  12. Again, I might be biased because I've had two bad experiences : One where I literally was asked to purchase a dude IC out of OOC pity - sure, I didn't mind because it furthered RP with someone who's a good dude and I'd already had RP with, but I honestly felt bad because the guy had done a lot of work on his presentation, and should have gotten much more than just a pity donation. While this led to good RP, the actual event, I felt, had extremely BAD RP... if RP was even had! The person who purchased Kellach for a date wasn't even a RPer, they just wanted to buy everyone. Two, where I was in this situation and knew no one that could bail me out. Lemme tell you, it sucks. It sucks so hard and while the person running the event tried to cheer me up, all I had is "hey, do I want to RP as the person who was just not bought?" with people who obviously had decided I wasn't worth wanting RP with? I nope.avi'd REAL FAST out of there. So to me, fundraisers? Fuck 'em. However, if your FC has experience running them, try to include everyone and the event is enjoyable regardless of how much money you put in, it should be fine!
  13. I participated in two fundraising gil events, the two being date auctions. I would never participate in another one again, and would strongly advise against anyone doing so unless it is your own FC doing it and you can trust the people doing so. The RP is atrocious, they have a tendency to get trolled and extremely bad blood can come from one person not earning as much as another... or earning NOTHING AT ALL as I can personally attest. When you put actual gil on the table, the dynamic of the RP changes. Not always for the better.
  14. Kellach would have turned the MSQ into the equivalent of Hildibrand, only he's actually competent. The tone would certainly be much lighter, with each confrontation with the primals ending more on a positive note than "dismissed". Also, Kellach would have had an antidote on hand, or be able to synthesize one. And no one else would have left the room alive.
  15. If it's the run I did with you, we ended up clearing it on the last possible attempt after you bailed. I... still don't fucking know how we did it. Other tank was a dumbass but it just went under the radar.
  16. Haven't you noticed that everyone who touches the MSQ becomes a blithering idiot incapable of thinking two steps ahead unless they're an evil Lalafell or an Ascian (and even then, that's just merely informed).
  17. I'm fortunate in that I have a nice talent for tying up loose ends that even if I decide to fumble together a retcon it won't be as bad, and even if it is, I'd just recognize it's bad writing and that I did this for OOC reasons, one of which was cutting out an incredibly toxic RPer from interacting with me. However, I'm of the opinion that if you don't have to retcon, don't do it, but don't feel like you should be forced to acknowledge the entire thing IC if it's too much for you to bear.
  18. I did, he has nothing new to say. Although he may have been reacting to a failed FATE so someone else should verify. - Thubyrgeim - Sisipu Okay, so the bolded part pretty much confirms that the "state secret" is known throughout the land, just not to the extent that it involves you killing the Sultana. I'd dare say that the atmosphere around Ul'dah should have changed from that night onwards for sure.
  19. "Ah, my dear (playername)! Rumor has it you've gotten dragged into some unsavory business. But keep your chin up, you hear? I believe in your innocence - we all do. And those that believe otherwise will have to answer to my fists of fury! Hah hah hah! - HAMOOOOON HOLYFIIIIIIIIIIIST 'cause you know you need more feels. "Hail to you, adventurer. Tell me, how fares Wilred? I'm told he went to enlist in the Crystal Braves at your invitation. My people's toils continue, and our hopes rest upon young shoulders such as his. Well do I remember the time he went astray, and for that I all the more look forward to seeing the man he has become." - Gundobald, quest giver in Little Ala Mhigo.
  20. Did you encounter this character? If yes, you can If no but have heard about them, you can If not at all, then maybe not.
  21. I'd go as far as to say it'll be farther than that. Give the time to review and redesign the NPCs as a result of their experience. It'll also give an alternate costume to Y'shtola in Dissidia Arcade.
  22. They're outsiders and not part of the Eorzean alliance - plot or no plot, that'll certainly draw some ire. And there might be rumors that there were Ishgardians in the palace on that night, too.
  23. I honestly don't think to do it because the few characters I routinely encounter don't have a RP page.
  24. Or the Braves that weren't following the plot. Keep in mind, only the 1st and the 3rd were directly controlled. 2nd and the 4th could have been in on it, but were pretty hands off about the thing. I personally know that Kellach would not view the addition of more brass blades as anything good.
