Shoshopu

Okay, heads-up, everyone!! Something serious has come up IRL and Jujuwai (aka arkamas) and I will be unable to oversee the event on the 18th. HOWEVER, we are not cancelling!! The folks who helped me OOCly oversee the event last week will still be there, and officers of Shoshopu's Free Company, Aetherial Warriors <>, ICly known as the 81st Maelstrom Foreign Levy, will be overseeing the event in Shoshopu's absence. The event will work exactly like it did last week and I left extensive notes for the people running it so things should run smoothly. I will also go over it with them the night before (arkamas and I have to leave Friday morning) to make sure everything is set to go. However, I wanted to announce this in advance so it's not a surprise for the people who attend. I thank you all in advance for your understanding!! Hope you all have a great time on the 18th!!

I want to thank everyone who came out tonight for making the first SpellGuard Tournament a rousing success! It was so much fun watching all the banter, and I feel like things went pretty smoothly! As Jana pointed out, Summoner does have some abilities Arcanist doesn't, like Fester and Painflare. This is sort of the direction Shoshopu has gone with offensive spells from herself, as she can Fester her "contagion magicks" and cast Ruin III, but the primary direction she has gone in is one of investing a lot into her familiars. Most of her geometries focus around building more robust or specialized versions of carbuncles and -egis, and temporarily empowering them with extra doses of aether. They can perform a number of abilities outside of the..... four or so they have in the ingame mechanics. She's also been experimenting with augmenting them, upon their initial summoning, with additional sources of aether outside of her own (i.e. crystals). If I could get her into IC conjury somehow I think things could get pretty interesting with this route. But in short, her special flavor of summoning was derived from her own interests and improvisations from lack of formal teaching or text, that invests a lot of aether into her familiars to make them more effective on their own while she controls them remotely from a safe distance. Essentially she's more akin a FFXI summoner, in that her pets do most of the work, while the spells she casts on her own are secondary.

Just a little reminder that this is going live in a couple days! I... didn't know there was gonna be a holiday during the event, but that's going to be a thing that happens sometimes, I suppose, all year. Shouldn't be too hard to work around!

I mean, he made it really easy. If you've ever seen this character you'd know. Zigovali's design was finished not long after that, but getting a screenshot that was just right was like waiting for the planets to align or something before we finally got one I was really happy with. He might be the most expensive six-mana counterspell ever, but only the first time you use him to counter something. The key is keeping him alive after that to really get some value. He could be a really annoying Commander...

Sorry for the double post but I also wanted to bring attention to This Googledoc Spreadsheet ! Not only does it have the source for all the Orchestrion Rolls, but it also tells which song it actually is (which the reddit thread doesn't do, at least not in the OP) and even has a link to listen to each one. It's much more thorough and I bet it'll keep being updated once they add more songs. The only one it doesn't have is The Only Path. Any idea what that might be?

??!???? o/ *raises hand* The way we played it, my FC assisted the Maelstrom with one of the occasional Leviathan-summonings. They had a long story arc leading up to it, but I just happened to join the FC right before the fight itself, so it was the first thing I did with them. Very convenient for me since I wanted Shoshopu to eventually become a summoner, but I hadn't decided which one she was going to start with at that point. And thank you, Sounsyy, the game didn't actually explain very well why the austerities didn't work at all. I kinda thought it was total BS, made-up-at-the-last-minute excuse to not introduce new egis after the dev team realized the design space was too limited to add more.

Well they!! Aren't!!! ... what they were like before! My hillbilly American ass thought it sounded vaguely Scottish. Just Raubahn's though. idk what's up with Ilberd's, but it's way worse compared to the awesome performance we got in A Realm Reborn's finale. What accent is it supposed to be?

Have they still not said anything about Pokemon Z? I remember them showing all the weird alternate forms of Zygarde and I've heard nothing since (but I'm also admittedly not actively following Pokemon news these days)...

Overall it's an improvement, I suppose, but some of the new voices are like... objectively worse than before. I'll never not be mad about Raubahn's, ILBERD'S, Merlwyb's and Eynzahr's voices changing. I was very attached to them and the new folks didn't even try to sound like the old ones. (I remember I was seething over how awful new Raubahn sounded and I cried, "Why does he sound Scottish suddenly!" and Fyril leans over and he says to me, "He's a Highlander" and I turned around and threw something at him) I always wondered why 90% of the cast seemed to change all at once. So they swapped studios, huh.

Here's a reddit thread that lists where all the songs are from! Looks like you get Eternal Wind by combining faded copies of all the other three. FUN. Because people still run Towers, right?

Bump! This event rolls out for the first time next Friday! I also added it to the calendar (manually because there's no recurring options for every other week, agh) all the way up to May. Meant to get around to it before now, but there it is!

The zombies that wander around near the Golden Bazaar use magic, too, though probably not as advanced of magic as the ones in Lost City of Amdapor HM...

I'm with Warren on this one, that's my understanding of how it works too. However, it's also implied that when a dead thing's aether goes back into the lifestream it's scattered about- it'd be like dumping your soda into a river and then trying to fish the soda back out. However I think something like reincarnation could happen if somehow, and the odds would be very very low of this, most or all of that person's original aether ended up getting recycled into another life, by sheer coincidence. That'd make it a very rare and special thing but totally possible, I think.

I began the mourning process as soon as he asked me for a drink in the first goddanged cutscene How so? I mean we saw some undead Amdapori and Mhachi enemies but I figured they were just your standard undead (unsurprising since the place was crawling with voidsent, not every body could be properly put to rest), not a successful attempt at bringing the dead back to life, unless the former actually is what you were implying and I misunderstood- I felt like there wasn't much lore revealed in the new dungeon (as much as I loved what we got) so I'm feeling like there must've been something I missed somewhere. Fyrilsunn said this to me: "For once Fyrilsunn didn't get beaten by a one-armed man." that one-armed miqo'te at the grindstone has beaten him like twice now I think

This entire patch could just consist of the wind-up Leviathan alone and I'd be pleased as punch. Still, I'm super excited for literally everything else, too!! New dungeons, new old gear to dye brown, Summoner buffs..! Fyrilsunn and I want to be mentors, but I'd have to level a tank and he'd have to level, well, Arcanist, because he needs a DPS and a healing class. I think we'll do that so Shopu and Fyril can dress up as eachother for the next All Saints' Wake! :lol:

EDIT: For people trawling through old art threads for whatever reason, if you were wondering if this person is still active or you were interested in commissioning her, I would like to inform you that I commissioned her on February 22, 2016, when I paid in full for the agreed upon price, and as of August the art is still not done, with very little correspondence despite my efforts (some of which seemed to contradict the post she made below), and the artist isn't answering my PMs on deviantArt, where she continues to be somewhat active. She's not logged in to the RPC since April, which was the last time she contacted me before a few more months passed. So, uh, take that as you will. Chose to edit my post here instead of bumping this old ass thread because I didn't want to draw a huge amount of attention to it or whatever but I figured my experience was worth sharing at the very least EDIT 2: The piece was finally finished on September 14! Although the time and lack of contact was still a bit troubling, admittedly the artwork turned out to be fantastic and I'm very pleased with the end result.

I can't help but feel like this thread happened before somewhere... but I can't be assed to look, either, so Shopu would sound like Kristen Schaal but it'd be a little underplayed because she has a slightly more formal way of speaking than most of Schaal's characters Awyrbyrt would sound like Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove (Patrick Warburton). He can speak marmot.

They might have elected to not do it this Friday since Tourney of Champions is tomorrow. And does that mean Aoi can fight with her familiar? It's a cute Bluebird that ignites itself on fire and electrifies itself! I have no qualms double emoting! lol Yes, that's why. We chose Fridays because there's not really another regularly scheduled event for Friday nights. I also didn't want to announce it on such short notice, nevermind that there was already an established event scheduled for tomorrow!! It just feels better to have it at the beginning of March instead of the end of February. Aoi could come with her bird! As long as you can justify it magically in some way chances are we'll allow it.
