1. I think the worst thing SE could do is declare something like... Dunesfolk 100% definitely stopped being nomadic 100+ years ago, but even then that wouldn't be too bad, because I already play Shopu's family as the last scions of their culture, given that we're shown exactly zero nomadic Dunesfolk roaming around on the backs of things. If they give an exact date of when adamantoises arrived in Eorzea from Thavnair and it's less than 100 years ago, that would be a much bigger wrench in things Alternatively, they make Gridania a whole lot less racist than it currently is said and shown to be. That'd derail a couple of my characters a bit, especially Awyrbyrt, whose entire character conflict is that he's basically the equivalent of a first-generation immigrant and wants to be a Roegadyn Wailer (not a Twin Adder guy, but specifically a Wood Wailer)
2. I caught an XL Nidorina https://67.media.tumblr.com/2ab2e1bd872d88c336c3411011f44cd4/tumblr_o9z1e8f2K51qefxa7o1_1280.png[/img]https://66.media.tumblr.com/b9b03ad93bad5b877b7a59e4795e3294/tumblr_o9z1e8f2K51qefxa7o2_1280.png[/img] (for non-nerds she weighs 7.02 kg more and is 0.12 m taller than normal Nidorina)
3. SpellGuard X is tomorrow night at 10 PM EST! Hope to see you all there! I'll be around a couple hours early this week to greet folks.
4. According to the lost interview Sounsyy is citing, the Elementals were actually okay with the Duskwights continuing to live underground. If that's the case, you ask, why did the Wildwoods and Gridanians respond the way they did to the Duskwights' decision to remain underground? The simplest answer is probably just your garden variety racism. Racial/clan schisms probably already began while they were still underground, when the elezen who would go on to become the Duskwights started to dig deeper. Being allowed to come to the surface was just reason enough for those on the surface to act out on their racism. I mean, in the real world people do horrible things to eachother all the time for absolutely no justifiable or logical reason, and come up with their own justifications for it, too. I don't see why Gridanians' racism needs to be explained by the Elementals. This is how Gridanians justify their actions today, of course, but that doesn't mean it's actually true.
5. I love using mounts and minions for RP! Each of my characters has, like, at least one IC pet (but no more than three, usually just one or two) because... I like pets... IC mounts are less common, only three of my characters have them- Shopu's adamantoise, Awyrbyrt's cavalry chocobo, and Eaubront's chocobo. Whenever I use minions and mounts for RP, though, it's always something that would make sense for them to have anyway (as opposed to "oh this minion/mount is cool, how could I get one IC?"- with one exception that's still in development but hasn't happened yet). In Shopu's case, it was something she already had IC long before they finally added the thing to the game. Anyways, they can make for fun RP props :3
6. They've said the Palace of the Dead starts from Issom-Har, but that was an old residential district I think? So it probably branches off from Issom-Har and goes somewhere else. Thanks a lot for that tumblr link! That was super informative! I have a question of my own... Was Gelmorra so long ago that no elezen families would be able to trace their heritage back to Gelmorra? Or is that just, possibly, a Padjal thing only? Given that quote about how all the above ground Gelmorran ruins are being taken down so they don't "mar" the landscape, it seems like modern Gridanians have a rather negative view of Glemorra, maybe because it's something those Nasty Duskwights are interested in. So what would society think of an elezen family that was open/proud of their Gelmorran heritage?
7. Four teams came together to duke it out, but only one could be the best! SpellGuard IX's champions are... Aulbiene Daiviere and Anrai Sinclair! Congratulations! Our next tournament is marked on the calendar for July 8, 10 PM EST! It will be our tenth SpellGuard tournament, and I'd love to make the tenth event a little special. I'd love to hear your suggestions or ideas!
8. I would have to find it, but I'm 99% sure a dev has said that it has to be a special vial of dragon's blood concocted specifically to serve that purpose, but it may not necessarily be that hard to make, as it was apparently distributed to a lot of heretics. After all, dragon blood is a relatively standard high-level alchemy ingredient for stat-enhancing potions. I mean, I know Alphinaud has said this or that, but NPCs have proven in the past to be unreliable sources for lore. Yeah, if there's dev confirmation on something then that takes precedence over whatever half-remembered thing I recall from MSQ I did last month Either way, it's diluted but not that diluted. Found it!! turns out it wasn't on the SE forums at all and I just wasted a couple hours. It's a Dengeki article. Indeed it's only tangentially related to the topic at hand, but... it was really bothering me so I had to find it. <_>

10. SpellGuard IX is on for tonight in about nine hours! We try to start gathering a half hour beforehand so the event can start smoothly at 10 PM. See you mages there!
11. There are actually biological differences between the two due to centuries of living in drastically different environments, unless you mean that those biological differences mostly occurred in that geographic location, and Elezen elsewhere are just "Elezen"? I don't think that's the case though, because Wildwood Elezen are said to have "helped found" Ishgard, so I'd say even by then the distinction already existed. I feel like Wildwoods might be less racist towards Duskwights in Ishgard, but on the other hand, the Duskwights = "ruffians and petty thieves who are poor due to their own bad decisions" stereotype would thrive in a city where there's such a big divide between the rich and the poor... There's probably some more solid lore for this but I don't know where, off the top of my head. Probably somewhere in Sounsyy's lore posts on the races.
12. This was one of the Great Debates of the GW2 RP community (not just GW2RP, but-- the RP community of GW2) and I'm sure it's only harder to suss out in FFXIV, just on account of its... well... SE-ness. Personally I don't have an IRL money comparison to make. When it comes to the infrequency IC gil usually comes up, consistency isn't terribly important, really- so most of the time you can just say "a little bit of gil", "a lot of gil", or "the appropriate amount of gil and a generous tip" or something like that, but if an exact number is necessary, I compare to the closest NPC equivalent I can find- armor vendors, food vendors, guildleve quest rewards, etc.
13. SpellGuard IX is set to take place this Friday at 10 PM EST! Hope to see some familiar and fresh faces this week! Our tenth tournament is coming up soon, on July 8th, and I've been thinking that there should be something special about it! What's something you guys would like to see in SpellGuard, even if just for one night?
14. Eaubront, my elezen, would be voiced by Kevin Kline ... d2TP6DZpmfA "If I believed in fate, I wouldn't be playing with loaded dice!" - Eaubront, probably and Zigovali would be Miguel in this situation
15. I'm having a hard time matching his skin tone as a Duskwight. At least in that picture, he's very warm-colored. Even the peachy skin tones for Duskwights are too cool-colored, a bit grayish. You're right about the shadows around the eyes, though, never noticed it before. I picked straight white and the palest skin colors for both Duskwight and Wildwood for this gif to compare the differences. There's actually a difference in the beard texture, interestingly enough! Also, sorry for the text overlay, I was doing something ingame so I had to use the benchmark, which doesn't let you hide the UI. At least you can tell which is which by the text lol Considering his skin color and the brighter roots of the beard, I'm leaning towards Wildwood, but that bothers me a little because I've always had this impression of Dzemael being a predominantly Duskwight family.
16. What's to stop a particularly sneaky dragon from crawling down there and just getting the eyes back? If I were one of Nidhogg's brood, that's what I would do. Imagine having four eyes, dude. I'm imagining some Spongebob-esque giant monstrosities living in that abyss and that's the only reason Aymeric thought it was a good idea. That, or the eyes are actually fleshy and not so protected by magic that they didn't bust like watermelons when they hit the bottom after a miles-long drop. or you know the warriors of darkness could just take them like they're probably going to who knows
17. Well, with 3.3 Hype still in full swing, tonight's tournament was a short one, but we still had one exciting match-up! Aleria Frostheart and Tatsumi Hanateru vs Aulsoix Claimane and newcomer Misha'to Nhami! And the Champion Spellguardians of Spellguard VIII are... Aulsoix Claimane & Misha'to Nhami! Congratulations! I've also amended the conclusion of Spellguard VII to include a screenshot of its champions, Gogonji and the Masked Mage! Spellguard IX will take place on June 24 at 10 PM EST!
18. SpellGuard VIII is tonight! Hope you mages are ready to rumble! >
19. I think it's more likely that the 45 day timer will start after they start up the reclamation thing again, as opposed to them turning it back on and suddenly a bunch of houses explode.
20. Now people can be doubly aware
21. Bump! You can has download now. edit: didn't notice someone else made yet another thread ten minutes ago but whatever too late now
22. I have some lovely Sea Wolf Roegadyn ladies for Limsa is for Lovers...
23. The eighth SpellGuard tournament is on for this Friday! Same time, same place! I've updated the RPC Calendar accordingly. I hadn't realized we'd already caught up with the events I'd listed in advance! Time flies!
24. Shoshopu has some critters... Loloran the Mandragora Shoshopu bought some mandrake seeds from a qiqirn and one of them turned out to be a mandragora seed. Oops! She managed to talk Fyrilsunn into letting them keep it once it was grown. Eventually it sprouted a bright pink flower, much to Shoshopu's delight and no one else's. Loloran is a lot of fun to emote. Shoshopu calls Loloran a she, but outside of Shopu's dialogue I always refer to it as "it". I love describing its tuberous eyes and vegetable body parts, and because it's so top-heavy it often falls over and just bounces across the floor on its head like an apple or something. Very fun. Popoto the Adamantoise (and others) Popoto is the youngest adamantoise of her family's herd. She hatched the same day Shoshopu was born, in the Golden Bazaar in 1555. Shopu's family are the traditional nomad types and they live in tents affixed to the tortoises' shells! Popoto's not big enough to live on yet, but she's big enough to ride. The rest of the tortoises live in the Thanalan desert with Shopu's parents and her oldest brother. Wannmaga the Puppy Fyrilsunn and Merlgeim found a stray pup one day, and Merlgeim absolutely insisted that they keep her. The two of them take turns dog-sitting, which means Shopu gets to help dog-sit whenever it's Fyrilsunn's turn. She's uselessly affectionate with strangers and is constantly hungry, like a good puppy should be. Haipiri Haipiri was a small, pale, dusty-brown chocobo that Shopu acquired some time after taking up adventuring in La Noscea. He has been AWOL ever since an IC encounter with the A-Rank, Marraco, one-shot him and Shoshopu both. Shopu just barely survived the encounter but I haven't yet decided her chocobo's fate. He might have died from his injuries, or he might have fled from battle and wandered his way to the stables of Revenant's Toll, where he would still be. Shopu hasn't been to Mor Dhona since it happened over a year ago.
25. As for us, when I get off work tomorrow afternoon Arkamas and I are taking our desktops out of town to a friend with fiber-optic internet and hoping for the best. It would have taken us literally all day to download the patch from home anyway, but our internet going down Friday morning kind of sealed that deal. orz
