I chose Dogberry because I often like to give my characters Shakespearian names. Like his namesake, I wanted to play a character that you shouldn't take all that seriously. While my Dogberry differs in that there IS a serious side to him, I want to present him as a more lighthearted character and slowly introduce a sense of depth. Himalspyr is one that I'm proud of. SE has my back on this one, too. See, I made the name with the backstory that Himalspyr is a family name that gets passed around through the generations in honor of a famous ancestor. He was named Himalspyr (Heaven Spear) after throwing a spear so high into the air that it never came down. FAST FORWARD TO HEAVENSWARD. Astrologian lore gets released and one of the constellations is The Spear. Yeah.. Knew it the whole time. Totally. Iskierka's name means "little spark", which carries a double meaning. She's a mage, and prone to throwing fireballs. She is the little spark that makes the big fire. Also she has that "little spark" of genius. Or at least so she claims. Stormspeaker just sounded like a cool name for a mage. She speaks, and creates a storm. Or she speaks to the storm. Either way is pretty cool.

Your Character's Role in a Sci-Fi Series/Movie
Dogberry replied to MilanaMina's topic in Fun Prompts
Dogberry is already a cyborg. In a more sci-fi setting, I picture him as a grizzled veteran soldier on a major covert task force. Basically, Batou from Ghost in the Shell. Iskierka, ever the industrious bookworm, would make a fine hacker. -
While Dog goes both ways, a man can rock a pink shirt without being gay. Unfortunately, an ignorant person cannot open their mouth without looking ignorant. This song is all Gegenji - [video=youtube]

[video=youtube] I think this is oddly fitting. Doesn't quite cover Aya's classiness, but it certainly covers her demeanor.

"I can offer m'place," Dogberry said, scratching his bearded chin. He sounded unsure, as if embarrassed. "It's small, near to th'Brume. Can't host many people, but it can do as a start. How many members d'y'normally get?" He offered the Elezen woman his hand. "Come look me up sometime," He said. "Name's Bharfyst Elilstyrmsyn."

Dogberry had been working all day. His carpentry was needed to repair some of the planks in the steps rising from The Brume. He was exhausted from the labor, and angry at paltry sum his employer gave him at the end of the day. No doubt the bastard assumed a Roegadyn was bad at counting. An attempt at getting a fair deal was met with the threat of no more future work. His blood was boiling. He stopped short when confronted with a flyer. After looking it over, he smirked and looked at the young (he assumed? Elezen aged weirdly) woman in front of him. "Y'know, you're th'only one I've seen in this city that has a damned clue?" He said in his thick Lominsan accent. "Ain't jus th'city, whole world's like this. Worker gets nothin', not even th'fruit o' their labors. I been thinkin' it's time t'organize, m'self. We pull together, they can't bully us. Where're these meetin's?"

Before he was going to be executed, Dogberry requested a marmot steak, a baked popoto and a pint of stout for his last meal. The guard, angry that a traitor was eating better than him, gave Dogberry a beating and ate his meal while he watched. Fun times!

It was cold and often lonely in Dogberry's, or rather his assumed identity Bharfyst's, newly rented tenement in The Brume. The stone floors and walls were poor insulation from the cold, and visits from Bryn were few and far between, leaving him with only the warmth of his paltry little wood stove. He hated his exile to Ishgard, and looked for any piece of home he could find to comfort him through when the cold and the fog crept in. He had managed to find a copy of the Tonberry's Lantern when someone had left it on the bench they were sitting on. He picked it up and scurried back home. Dogberry was sitting on his bed when he came across the advertisement. He smiled at the picture. He tore out the advertisement and placed it under his mattress. It had been a few days since he had seen Bryn last. This picture would do to keep him warm in the long, cold night until he saw her again.

Acceptable Things at Scheduled Events
Dogberry replied to Warren Castille's topic in Chronicled Events
Look, this party you planned has a lot of people attending, and statistically someone is going to show up already drunk, puke in the pool, get naked, and pick a fight, so it might as well be me. You're welcome. -

I like to brew, so I actually think about stuff like this a lot. What kind of beer I'd name after my characters. Dogberry would be a robust kind of beer, something with a large malt profile, but something your average drinker can enjoy. Probably a stout. I could see the recipe going something like this. Malt 8 lbs 8.0 oz - Pale Malt (2 Row) 1 lbs - Black Barley (Stout) 12.0 oz - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L 12.0 oz - Chocolate Malt 1 lbs 14.0 oz - LME Golden Light (Briess) Hops 0.5 oz - Nugget - Boil 60 min 1.0 oz - Centennial - Boil 30 min 1.0 oz - Fuggle - Boil 15 min Yeast 1 pkgs - Irish Ale Yeast (White Labs #WLP004) For Iskierka, I can see her being something a little bit on the off-putting side for some, but an acquired taste that you like once you get used to it. A sour ale, I'm thinking a Flanders Red. Malt 11 lbs 12.0 oz - Pale Malt (2 Row) 2 lbs 4.0 oz - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 75L 8.0 oz - Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L Hops 1.0 oz - Cascade [5.5%] - Boil 60 min 1.00 - Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15 min) Yeast 1 pkgs - Abbey Ale (White Labs #WLP530) (Yeast) 1 pkgs - Roselare Belgian Blend (Wyeast Labs #3763) These are some recipes I found that fit what I imagine would suit my characters. I might make these someday, probably adapting as I see fit.

Because you didn't have to level the job. You chose to level the job. To insist others must sounds less like a principled decision and more like sour grapes. As for that - if both posts are only perceptions of events, then where is the objective (fictional) reality between them? Actually, I do feel I had to level the job I wanted to RP. That's my standard, and if a player doesn't measure up to my standards, I'm no more obligated to RP with them any more than they are obligated to play up to my standard. The truth lies in the /random in that instance only in that it connected or didn't. Good form, or bad, is a matter of perception.
