  1. Character Name: Leggerless Hanzou - Goes by W'Chaza Yheli IC. Wiki link/short description: Wiki Have you completed the MSQ up until end of 3.4: Yes My character should be anonymous: Either works
  2. If there were, then it's either 1) Lost to the ages 2) Not as well-adverted as this one. *shrugs*
  3. I. Basic Info Characters:Leggerless Hanzou Primary character:Leggerless Hanzou (IC: W'chaza Yheli) Linkshells: Roll20, Friends of Ours (Leader), Farmer's Market (Master), and Ishgard RP. Primary RP linkshell: Whatever's the flavor of the day. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium. It's not something I do everyday, usually on appointments only a lot of the time, but when I do decide to RP I take the interactions seriously. In PvE terms, this puts me at midcore--if not occasionally hardcore. Views on RP combat and injuries: Well. It's a good thing magic exists in the universe otherwise I'd be a hardass and constantly question the physics, possibilities, and how certain moves are executed in RP; least with magic you can hand wave very particular items. Used to both freeform and /random systems in combat; either works so long as its agreed upon beforehand. No permanent injuries like loss of limb. Temporary injuries like forcing her into a cast for a bit due to a leg injury are ok. Views on IC romance: Sure. While a fling or one night stand may occur, actual romance is based more on a mutual agreement between the parties before it's considered. IC and OOC separate. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Family ties are a no go. She's had plenty of family issues already; no need to compound that. Friends, chefs, tradesmen, nobles, beggars, entertainers, soldiers, fighters, mages, thieves, wrestlers who are Intercontinental champions... Let's face it. There's a lot of contacts I'm willing to entertain with this character. Views on lore: Personal opinion: Lore is a guide, not a set of absolute rules, to follow when RPing in FFXIV. I try to follow as best as I can, as I want my character to be believable within the game's universe. Certain items, such as a funny name or doing something not mentioned in lore but possible, gets a pass as well. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say: OOC. IC if quotation marks are used. Denotes speaking. /em: IC if a custom emote; OOC if not. Denotes actions, but includes dialogue sometimes. Everything else: Assume OOC. General rule of thumb is if you're speaking in quotation marks and there's context, it's IC. Otherwise, it's OOC. III. Other Info Country: US (The States) Timezone:GMT - 6 (CST) Contact info:PM in-game at Leggerless Hanzou. 4. "Hrm... from you, Chachanji, I would require just the knife this evening. No more, no less. It's a fine gift you let me purchase." She smiles at the Lalafell, satisfied his interest piqued enough to even take the papers for himself to examine. She crosses her arms, scanning him over as he keeps looking through the blueprints of the hastily, yet accurately, drawn out plans she drafted for him. As he spoke about making them, she responded. "Oh, a goldsmith for that, hm? Memory serves right, there's the Goldsmith Guild in Ul'dah and plenty of independent goldsmiths about that city, aye? I'll consult them for the other items. Also heard rumors about carbon fiber being Garlean in nature, so... perhaps a visit to one from the Ironworks as well." Yheli stole a glance over towards the kotatsu where Zhara sat, gave a slight smirk at the woman, and then looked back at the Lalafell, kneeling down to get to eye level with him. Her head turns towards Chachanji and she speaks in a hushed voice, before Zhara started towards the back the second time. "Between you and me? You're lucky you have a worker who can manage bills and payments besides yourself. Own a cafe myself; I know from experience it isn't easy keeping track of it all--especially in larger quantities."
  5. Until I see someone roleplaying or acting as Macho Man Randy Savage in Red Mage gear... I'm going to sit back, wait for Samurai (or Blue Mage), and see where it goes. So far my bet's that: 1. Abilities trigger a melee/ranged stance mode and ability properties change based on what stance the player is in. 2. 1-2-3 combo where the first two abilities are ranged, then the third ability goes into melee quickly before sending the player back into ranged again (think something like the Dragoon leap, where it teles target forward then back to original position).
  6. Here on Balmung, you can reincarnate into a lovely server full of wonderful possibilities for RP. Welcome aboard, Rylder.
  7. Going to drop out of this one and hand it over to L'rinhi Kett, as she's not tentative and willing.
  8. Many thanks, Ayaka. *Proceeds to chop up fruit with the sword in the picture*
  9. >Faster Cooking W'chaza Yheli for Hawker's Alley Havoc. Hands down. Whoever stole my microwave oven idea IC... is going to get baked.
  10. Guten tag und Wilkommen in Balmung! (Good day and welcome to Balmung) Here's your fish for the murder cats, vanilla cake for the great Quicksand scenes, and a candy bar. All free of charge, of course.
  11. Well, this thread has... produced quite a bit of discussion and possibly vitriol throughout the day since I last checked in. Guess my next suggestion is to find a way for people to sticky this giant thread of opinions/facts/rants/etc. somewhere so we can hang up the thread on display for all the community to see. Hopefully we don't have to see another one like this quickly--especially right after the holidays--and if we do we have a giant link for use showing "Here's what's up; here's what to do and not to do." Edit: Also, the Panama Canal was not built in a day. Roosevelt, yo.
  12. ...You know. This thread needs an explanation of the "Push and Pull" methodology for connections. But not a textbook example. Something special. Heavy Disclaimer: This is after you settled on a character you want to RP with. Now, let me be like the RP world's Saitama. Alright? Cool. 100 WALKUPS! 100 PMs! 100 CONNECTIONS! THEN WRITE 10 THOUSAND WORDS! EVERY. SINGLE. DAY! And of course make sure you say hello each day. Just a quick "Good morning" is fine. But the most important thing is to never use the P/F and spam during the private and public RP seasons so that you can strengthen your resolve. In the beginning you'll wish you were dead. You might start thinking "What's the harm in taking a day off?" But for you, in order to be a strong roleplayer, no matter how tough it was, even if you start sleeping at your desk, you never stop. You keep making connections even when your arms are so heavy they refuse to type. Even when your arms start making weird clicking noises, you keep doing walkups. A year and a half later, you start to notice a difference. You are jaded. And you have become popular! In other words, you gotta RP like hell to the point where you started becoming jaded. That's the only way to become popular. The roleplayers that are fooling around at the Quicksand and wallflower junk will never make it this far. Roleplayers are strong because we have the ability to change ourselves.
  13. Instead of trying to reach every single person with a shotgun, consider the single target approach of PMing one person at a time with the sniper rifle. Also. You attempted RP at an event where most people will relegate say to another chat window and/or turn it off entirely due to the potential spam. That's why you have to use other chat mediums (Hello PMs) because then they can get your message. (This message brought to you by someone who did Grindstone playing/management more than a few times)
  14. Honestly? I would love a jump potion. I don't think I'd stomach the thought of leveling other jobs i'll never play again outside of leveling (ESPECIALLY with the so-far-unpredictable job formula changes) unless: 1. I'd have to for optimization. 2. I need to figure out stuff for theorycrafting purposes. There's also the fact some people who already leveled 1-60 for a job... still don't know how the job works. The people that won't bother to learn their class won't magically start all of a sudden because of a jump potion. Doesn't work that way. Now, would I prefer a solution where it's something like "Purchase the upcoming expansion and get a free jump potion" or even "Your first month's sub comes with a jump potion?" Absolutely. Most people will have a single class they'll play/like the most/main, so they can use it for that job to level up (conversely, they can go past the story stuff and start on 4.0 questing with their peeps too). Edit: Also, the 4.0 jobs you cannot use a jump potion for. That's what the article appears to imply.
  15. Another one of these fun questions I just thought of and had to write down immediately lest I forget it over a thought concerning barbecue instead! So! Here's the question(s): 1. How often, if at all, do you use macros for RP? 2. In what cases do you think it's unacceptable to use macros and why? In the meantime, I'm going to hire a bear to sit at a picnic table wearing a collar and tie and holding onto a picnic basket.
  16. My name and handle are already attached together in other games due to eSports items/articles, but here's a photo for the FF crowd.
  17. "Well, Chachanji, my little smith, if I were to cut up boards I'd find it more useful to use against the armor an enemy wears rather than kitchen equipment." She sets down the gil pieces--a total of 250 gil in worth--on a nearby counter for him or Zhara to pick up later. With her right hand, she would reach over for the knife and raise it up closer to her eye. Inspecting it from the top down, she'd examine the angle of the curve, how it fits within her hand, the thickness of the blade, as well as the overall length and weight of the item. "Hrm... let's see here. If you're worried about precautions I already have solutions for that, then. Granted, they require more trips." She smiles softly at the blade, happy it's within her grasp, and puts it back into its sheath and sets it down on the counter again. Afterwards, she glances up towards Chachanji. "The first one is the use of steel mesh gloves. Think something similar to a Haurbergeon you've seen the... oh, who are they? Brass Blades? What they wear, except just for your hands." While speaking she demonstrates with her hands how exactly it would fit; it's a relatively loose fit that forms around each finger and thumb. The length of the glove goes up only an inch past the wrist. "No need for a long glove; near a heat-sensitive environment where you'll need to take them on and off quickly." She takes out a sheet of paper from the bag over her shoulder and pulls out a small writing utensil afterwards, sketching out what appears to be a cutting board. There's three views quickly sketched by her right hand: an orthographical projection, a front view, and a top view. Once the views are done, she sets about adding a few dimensions to the top view; length, wide, and radius of the rounded edges, and a dimension to the front view: depth. She writes across the top of the paper a list of materials similar to what one would find in Tempered Glass. "Now, this is a theory, but the same glass used in those new aquariums these crafters started producing could be used in a cutting board. If it can withstand the water pressure of how much is inside of it, then I know its tough. The carbon fiber inside of it is a reinforcing agent too." She finishes up writing down these notes and slides the paper over to Chachanji, speaking in the Doman language. "[i promise I am careful.]" She finished with a smile on her face.
