Hehe, maybe vague memories of a fable or storybook. ; ) Happy adventuring. ^^

Hey! I don’t want to spoil anything about the Stormblood storyline for you, but as a character from Ala Mhigo, Rilya would probably be aware of a group of folk heroes who were well-known in Ala Mhigo known as the Crimson Duelists who fought against the Mad King in the interest of the common folk. They didn’t study arcanima, but because Red Mages and the study of red magic is fairly rare (especially in Limsa Lominsa) Rilya pursued the avenue that was available to her. Here is a bit of lore from the first Red Mage quest that will give you sense of the Duelists without spoiling anything in Stormblood: Welcome to the game and FFXIV RP!

There is a prominent example of an Orphanage called Menphina’s Arms once you are near the end of the Heavensward expansion. However, there are orphanages mentioned in nearly every city—because of the Calamity and simply the fact that there are a lot of threats in the world, orphans and adoption (presumably) are relatively common. Here is a link to a great lore compilation of orphanage mentions by Sounsyy: https://autumnslance.tumblr.com/post/170519522743/any-lore-on-orphanage-or-something-similar

At long last I have found my way back to Balmung, but I am still keeping my ties to Mateus with two alts there. After missing the server merge felt very lucky to find Balmung open for transfers again. Feels like home. Thank you for all of the great RP memories, Mateus. ^^ If any Doman shinobi characters or Dalmascan freedom fighters would like to write together, I am really interested in exploring the storyline angle of Domans aiding the Dalmascan resistance for the Doman character who is my main. Feel free to send me a PM or /tell any time. Happy adventuring!

Back in the game for Shadowbringers (very late) and looking for Doman shinobi characters or Dalmascan characters who are working to free their homeland from afar on my content/RP main Kamome Hama if anyone on Mateus or Crystal as a whole would like to write or RP together! Glad to be back, and to see the RPC still going strong. ^^

This is a really cute post, above. ^^ Welcome to Mateus! I’m also a former XI player (who still constantly keeps calling Lalas Tarus...) who is RPing in Mateus. Feel free to add me as a friend in-game. My character name is Kamome Greywing! On Discord I am Kamome#7964 if you use that too!

mateus Wannabe Hero Hingan Looking for Connections!
Kamome replied to TNSLowell's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey! Feel free to send me a friend invite! I’m on Mateus as a Doman/Hingan character and have been looking all over for other Doman Hyur without any luck so far! Would love to meet up for RP out adventuring, around Limsa or around anywhere in the Mist, as well. The FC I’m in has a nicely active Discord if you ever feel like checking us out—everyone is welcome in the FC house for RP, especially Doman/Hingan characters ICly. Also, OOC I share a lot of your preferences for RP so it would be awesome to meet up! Character name is Kamome Greywing. Discord is Kamome#7964. Feel free to get in touch any time! Welcome to Mateus! ^^ -
I think a good metric for testing tropes is running your character concept through the Mary Sue test. Mary Sue stereotypes tend to line up pretty well with what ends up being somewhat common as the basic heroic archetypes many players go with naturally when making up a character. Some examples of quizzes that can be used to help guide: http://www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm http://www.gotoquiz.com/is_your_character_a_mary_sue_2 Again, just a good measuring stick and tool to use to gauge generic traits, in the end. Don’t worry too much. Just do what you enjoy. The most important thing is to have a character you actually enjoy playing. ^^

I have decided to relocate to Mateus due to a return to the game after a very long two and a half years. Thank you for the wonderful memories, roleplayers of Balmung. I met so many wonderful people on the RPC and wandering around with my silly /say RP. You’ll never be forgotten. It seems like yesterday I first logged in and met you. To the new FCs on Mateus and all of the wonderful newcomers and pioneers, it’s really nice to be on an open server again, and one brimming with life and lots of newbies, like I have found myself becoming again. Thank you for having me.

Work, family and the like kept me from getting back into the game as planned back in January of this year, but now things have settled down. I am happy, as always, to see such a flourishing community on Balmung and now it seems on Mateus, too. I’ve met quite a few new Mateus players and run into some familiar faces on Balmung... not completely sure which server to go with, since I have so much of the game to relearn in the long time I’ve been gone, but wherever I end up, I just wanted to send out some love to everyone who makes the RP community in XIV so wonderful. ^^ Still Kamome Greywing on Balmung, and now also on Mateus to relearn the game and figure out all the new job changes. I can’t believe we actually have an RP status tag now! As one of the tiny handful of people that used to RP way back in the FFXI days when we were a tiny, tiny minority up to now... I simply cannot believe how much deep lore, RP support and brilliant storytelling exists both in FFXIV itself and in this great community. Thank you guys, so much, for putting your heart into the game and into supporting your fellow RPers and their stories. ^^ Anyone who is still out there from 2014/2015 feel free to reach out in-game, here on RPC or Tumblr at kamomegreywing.tumblr.com. ^^ Happy adventuring, Kamome

mateus For those still hesistant about Mateus [Admin of Hub post]
Kamome replied to novalescent's topic in Player Directory
Just wanted to say thanks in the thread to everyone and endorse the fact that the Discord is extremely helpful and active for anyone else in my situation who either needs to relearn or can’t get an alternate or new character on Balmung. Thank you guys for making such a welcoming and helpful community in this difficult situation for new RPers and lock-outs! ^^ -
mateus For those still hesistant about Mateus [Admin of Hub post]

Are there a fair amount of brand new players on Mateus who RP? I’m a returning player who is coming back after three years and needs to re-learn a /lot/ of the game before I go back to my one character on Balmung. I discovered last night that can’t make an alt to re-learn there now. Is there anyone on Mateus I can get in touch with about a RP-centric FC for essential newcomers to the game? I’m more of an open-world /say RPer, but above all I enjoy adventure-themed RP that happens in the overworld or while completing combat or exploration-based content. If anyone could point me to an FC that might suit that brand of RP, I would be deeply grateful. Everything I have read about Mateus sounds really encouraging. (Also hello to Balmung friends who I haven’t seen in years! ^^ If this belongs in Seeking Connections, rather than here, feel free to remove, and I will repost.) -
Hey there, RPC. ^^ I'm back in the United States after a move out and back in to the country over the past two years. Glad to see so many familiar faces (but where is Sounsyy on every lore thread?!) and to be back. I'm dipping my toes back into the game slowly. A longtime friend of mine was using my account for a few months last year to try out the game and went full-throttle leveling some combat classes... so I'm slowly re-learning stuff and hopefully meeting all the new Roleplayers on our server in the meantime. ^^ See you in Eorzea!

The sign of an awesome reference is one I keep going back to and check whenever I have trouble with a name in game! This remains so helpful Sounsyy!! : )

balmung Lighthearted Friendship and Adventure
Kamome replied to Kamome's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey Ashile! My Warrior is exactly Lv43 now too, so maybe we can dungeon up together. : ) See you this week! Couldn't catch either of you this weekend due to sporadic play times. : ( -
I'm sure a lot of you have seen this on the reddit front page for XIV, but this is interesting! It's a race survey before/after HW that has a big population of respondents. : ) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1S7qIGIW-Z-wRrsGc6J9jRjbmUVsH8sM6W0Nw9XvnI-c/viewform

I will start doing this and spread around the information. : ) What a brilliant and simple suggestion. : )

Hello, I play from PST 5pm-10pm weekdays and flexible weekends. I am a new player hoping to enter in to raiding during August and September. I am currently Lv53 WHM to be 60 hopefully this weekend and then leveling WAR and NIN to Lv60 (all job currently 20-40). My plan is to finish leveling NIN to 60 and gear it up next week if you are still looking for a NIN then. I am a proficient raider from my WoW and XI days and would love to do content with RPC people. Feel free to add me to your friend list or send me a message here. Edit: in terms of MSQ progression I am only just having cleared 2.0 and am working on 2.1-2.5 currently during my leveling to 60. This I aim to finish over the weekend of 7/24, however.

In FFXI I played Hyur male first because I wanted to be 'typical FF hero' type, which I think of as a white human dude. I then fell in love with San d'Oria storyline (think similar to Ishgard society) and began the game anew as an Elvaan Paladin girl who ended up my main character all the way to 75 and back again. I was really excited to make my beloved Elvaan in XIV but I remember within just two or three minutes... I realized her chin seemed to blend in to her neck oddly... that her emotes seemed to move in slow motion... and it looked like something was just wrong with her shoulders as she ran. Dislocated? It was strange... It's weird, but it was the nice, sharp line of miqo'te shoulders that moved very well to me that made me realize how nicely they are animated. Honestly, I think the developers and animators are just giving them special treatment because they are cat-girls in how they are animated. The quality is just very good and you can see how attention was given to details. It's unfair almost! I like how miqo'te females animate as athletic, even though they are small in size. Hyur midlander female seems so dainty in emotes and animation, highlander female is so excessive in expression (to my taste) and seem a bit overly showy. For me, miqo'te seemed the most 'middle road' and down-to-earth with so much charm thrown in with how their ears and tails are animated. Elezen seem just... so slow and stiff to me. They had the same kind of animation in XI, but with a martial power and crispness that was just awesome!! I miss my Elvaan. ; ; Roegadyn female AND male were simply too tall for me to play comfortably. I felt my head was getting chopped off in cutscenes and I had to sit down to look any other character in the face or see their armors or RP with them! Frustrating!! I love love love lalafell, but the small size posed similar cutscene issue to roe... >: ( So I guess for me it was trial-and-error. I love brown/tawny colors and warm hues so ended up going with Seeker vs. Keeper, and the lore followed from there. In fact I feel ALL racial lore is amazing in this game, so I went more with my personal favorite aesthetic for the race versus lore. If lore then hands-down Elezen would be my choice. So many great MSQ Elezen... ; ; And Elvaan in XI. T_T Ramble is over. It is still so hard for me to pick a race. I'm going to end up with so many alt. T_T

OK now I know the lore better! : D The Marmot Tribe is famed for their marked lack of battle prowess and their peaceful lifestyle which benefits from the trade and excess goods generated by the cities of Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa. Small in stature, with fluffy, bushy tails, they often choose their nunhs on the basis of their gathering or trading skill rather than success in the hunt. (Also I have a simple and small RP wiki page for Marmot if anyone wants to use/modify it from back when I made M'isha's page. It's arbitrary and I tried to make it open as possible so please feel free to edit. : ) https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Marmot_Tribe)

balmung Celebration of the Builder - Post Notes
Kamome replied to Jancis's topic in Chronicled Events
Thank you for hosting such a wonderful event! I will be there and it will be my first RP event to witness on Balmung. It looks as if it will be wonderful! : D
