Because god, if we're going to use vendors to justify lore, I can tell you it is not for all classes. Monk AF is forbidden in lore to be worn by non-FoR. Its a meta mechanic, not a "lets make this lore" mechanic. So once more. Where is my proof? I'm genuinely interested. Stop assuming things, please. Honestly, this is just such a weird idea about it. I know you're trying to help people by conjuring this out of nowhere, but after some thinking, I think people are just best to roleplay a retired Dragoon, one booted from the training, or just didn't make the cut at the end of the day. Sure people can do it if they really want, but I still don't see any proof of Dragoons doing it, beyond that to the WoL special snowflake exception.

Okay, provide proof of Ishgardian Dragoons fighting style existing out of Ishgard, WoL snowflake excluded. Because lets be honest, using the WoL as an excuse for a PC to be a Dragoon in this case... is rather arrogant and absurd.

Dragoon Roleplay summed up after Lorebook On a more serious note. Man, that does suck. Its not fun to hear that you've been roleplaying something for years, and basically get told "Nope, you can't do that now due to new lore" type of deal. I wouldn't even know what advice to offer on trying to make your character fitting in lore again. It just sucks. All I do know, myself and a lot of others, will be giving Dragoon RPers the time and space to figure out the mess has created for the Dragoon RP community, if it is even fixable. I just suspect to see many retired Dragoons popping up, and I would be okay with this (Hells, I can't blame people for wanting to continue to RP a Dragoon to begin with. Some of you have been doing this for YEARS). You all really can't help it you're roleplaying something what you wouldn't have done if you had this information earlier. I'm legit sorry for you guys.

Being your resident Dutch/Europe scum, and dealing with dialect daily. Yeah, I legit couldn't understand people who lived 10KM away from me in one village in particular I used to live in. We have a massive river splitting us apart, so our sister village over all those years got a completely different accent over the village I lived in, despite... being sister cities. People from Limbourg? Holy mother of are they even speaking Dutch? They were more speaking German from what little time I've spend up there, and I couldn't understand them for shit. (I had an easier time understanding my friend's german mother then his weirdo dialect.) Same with Belgium/Flemmish (what I can understand/speak 70% ish of the time) It is still considered Dutch, but they have so many odd ye olde Dutch words thrown in it, and French as well, to the point I just sit there ???? at times. I'm grateful my own dialect is one who barely changed since the 1600, beyond adding more modern words, but my damn. Dialects can be super duper strange, to the point you can barely understand them. Separate language? No. Does it overlap? Yeah. But can you understand each other if you don't default to the common way of speaking? Hell no. So that's how I imagine the deal is with Doman/Eorzean tongue. You can pick words out, you can converse together in your common tongue, but as soon one starts slipping into their dialect, it becomes a shitfest to try to make out what the other is saying.

Honestly, I think what you're looking for is a light roleplaying FC rather then a LS at this point.

HW story felt rushed. I'm so sad to see not much struggle in Ishgard itself. I really hope if we go Ala Mhigo, retaking it will be a lot tougher and bloodier. But I don't have high hopes at this point. I know its a MMO, and they can't rush things, and I'd sooner have them do this then what Blizzard does, with year of no content. But yeh, I would have liked have seen more civil unrest? Idk. It just felt rushed.

I just want Ala Mhigans to Ala Mhigan and do stupid shit. I'm so curious to see what they are going to do with the eyes? Power Omega with it? I'm not sure!

Personally? If I see a Nunh RPer, I will avoid them. Unless they are using it to shit over their tribal system, and merely call themselves this to riot against the established 'order' of things, and aren't in a tribe no longer, I'm sort of okay with it. But a breedingmale outside his clan? Eh, I will just skip roleplaying with you. I don't think I know anyone who roleplays a Seeker nunh who is legit staying around his tribe. Perhaps if they are nomadic you could kinda get away with it? I'm not sure. I feel if you roleplay a nunh, you sort of need other roleplayers to back you up on this, if that makes any sense? I'm not saying he should just gather a harem of female cats to sleep with, I'm more talking about tribal relationships, Tias wanting to challenge him ect. Else it just feels dull and easy to me. I'd love to see a legit tribe of Miqo'te Seekers, but those are just... non existent. Can't blame them, it would require a lot of work, not to mention a lot of people would just see it as an opportunity for ERP. It would just end up in a weird ERP FC real quickly if not handled by the right people, and I can't blame people for not wanting to bother with this. I'm just not a fan of them. But at the end of the day, it is your roleplay.

Your loresnob coming in here. Being a Dark Knight, NOT from Ishgard, is going to be absurdly hard. The class, just like Dragoon, Monk/Fist of Rhalgr, is bound to a nation, and created for a very specific purpose. Their knowledge isn't just for the grabbing. On top of that, Ishgard shunned outsiders like mad. The Questline of DRK is probably a fucking terrible example of a DRK, and I really wish they've gone with a native Ishgardian instead of their posterboy au ra edgelord. Free Paladins are strongly connected to Ul'dah next to that. Dark Knights at the end of the days are folk who are, or were, dealing with Ishgard's issues. We haven't seen examples of them bothering with anything else. Whereas some argue that we can have them outside Ishgard, I'm too much of a snob to agree with that. Fighting styles and philosophies are only bound to one place after all, due to the circumstances they were created. Sure, they could have... left Ishgard, but that defeats the purpose of being a Dark Knight completely. I'm sure some Free Paladin who has been trained in Ul'dah could technically travel to Ishgard after the gates opened in 2.5. He could have found a mentor/soulstone. But he'd probably wouldn't be anywhere as good compared to an Ishgardian DRK who has more years under their belt. That said, DRK don't use the Void. That's just player headcanon shitting over lore. They are just very emotion driven, and pull their powers from emotions. There is no way returning from submitting to said darkness. Basically yeah, you could do this from a lore point of view. But would it be a character I'd like to be around? I'm going to be bluntly, and say no. Then again, Ishgard and Ala Mhigo are my babies, so I get really picky with these things. But yeah, it is possible, but I just don't think it would make for a good character. However... seeming I see you play a highlander, I could suggest something to make it work! Just... you would have to drop the Free Paladin part. Lots of Ala Mhigans also fled to Coerthas. Whereas it is not directly Ishgard, if you go with the route of being a refugee in living in Ishgard's territory, it would be soooo much easier and logical for your character to have ran into a DRK who would take him as their student. That said, I do know a shitton of people who simply have DRK levelled for the sake of holding a two-hander, and don't RP a DRK at all, but a simple swordsman instead. I got several classes levelled on my characters just for the RP gear. I wouldn't be too concerned about your 'OOC' class. Best of luck o/
