You mean you don't like derivative copypasta fantasy lore? Or dialogue that's riddled with pop culture references? Or playing "Who's Gonna Be Warchief This Expansion?" My particular favorite is a dev going on twitter talking about how he's buffing his girlfriends FotM class. Professionalism at it's peak. Link and archive. Hunting this will take a min.

I think you must be playing with bad Priests. >.> Then again, I haven't bothered with PvP since I realized how unfun Ashran is. They're going to be a DPS-to-heal spec, doing something like 70% of the healing of a pure healer and 30% of the DPS of a pure DPS. Or something like that. Priests are literally trash in PvP atm. When I quit people wouldn't even take one to cap with them for the week. Druids didn't get pruned hard enough and kept a whole bunch of feral/balance shit they should not have access to as baseline. Meanwhile Priests got Psychic Scream taken away from them and they have to spec into it. I can go on about this for a while I'm just gonna... *exits*

balmung Seeking an Astrologian for RP story
Teadrinker replied to Lady Whiteraven's topic in Chronicled Connections
I cannot offer a renowned Astrologian, sadly. Mine is but a novice to average with a habit of pulling very interesting things from her deck. Good luck though. I love the idea. -
SE stated once that they only allow lying down in homes is to make it harder for ERPers to do their dirty business. ..Did they actually state this? I can't imagine them actually saying this. Implying possibly...

They've shit on Priests since 2008 so sure. Make them OP.

Did they ever fix the damn botting issue? PvP was just infiltrated with .01 second interrupt bots I can't remember wtf the program was called. Bots? I think you have the term mixed up with something else. In that regard though, is there honestly a MMORPG that doesn't have 3rd party programs invented by people to cheat or give them an upper hand? I'm sure if you looked through ownedcore there will be more information about that and more regarding the "bots" you mentioned. Though to be honest it won't surprise me if there were bots on FFXIV too. Nah, I found an article on it. Honorbuddy was the program. http://www.inquisitr.com/2095986/world-of-warcraft-bans-cheaters-over-pvp-bot-programs-like-wow-honorbuddy/ They were impossible to juke because they could literally interrupt you at .1 seconds so no matter how hard you could outplay a human the bot would get you. Only a 6th month ban, eh? They must be clamoring for those subs. And they apparently made Warden not give a crap about these bots either. Yep. Trash, cash cow game.....sadly.

Tend to agree with this. If throwing enough feelings at it and tossing flowers into the barrels of guns was gonna work then war would have been done away with in the 60's.

I'm starting to get messages from some old WoW buddies asking me if I'm coming back for Legion, will I raid with them, they still can't find anyone to replace me, etc. My answer will be the same as it has been since WotLK. Pay for my sub and I will heal for joo. But even when they did during WoD I couldn't stay in the game it was so damn bad. PvP hadn't seen that level of imbalance since Season 4 resto druids. Literally worse than S4 restos. Ugh. Anytime I play WoW I feel like I'm getting into a car that has the body of a Ferrari but the engine is a rusted piece of crap no one cares about anymore.

Looking for ways to slow down plots.
Teadrinker replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in Character Workshop
Creative chops get busted a little bit in RP. I think part of being a good RPer is, honestly, knowing when to set back and hold your hand and have your character do nothing. Yeah, it can suck and get frustrating and if you notice you're the one doing that 90% of the time then you might want to bring it up but it's definitely a good skill to have. Giving up like how you describe is very... it feels very "Oh, well screw you I'm gonna take my ball and go home." to me. -
Report I read says the Russian jet ignored 10 warnings to get out of their airspace. Think this is one of those things we'll never know the whole truth about and a lot of people might die senselessly over.

What do you use to record/archive chat log?
Teadrinker replied to ShedoSurashu's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
This can actually be considered bad manners with certain folk. I always ask beforehand before logging anything. Some groups do it almost routinely but I would always ask a new friend or RP partner. That said I use Notepad ++ and CPaste. I don't log a lot though. I don't know of anything that just...continuously logs text. -
RP Discussion: Dimensional Hopping and You
Teadrinker replied to Warren Castille's topic in RP Discussion
I think it's this concept right here that a lot of players try to avoid. I am convinced that a lot of players walk into RP with the mindset of, not playing a character in the predefined world, but being the most awesome thing in it even if that means bending the world's laws rather poorly. You can make legitimate arguments all day about how it's not feesable. About how it doesn't make sense. About how it makes their character akin to an NPC or the WoL. But at the end of the day they are not trying to hear that. And it all stems from the initial moment of them deciding to come into RP with that mindset. Personally, I have way for fun RPing characters low on the power scale. Characters that need help, somehow. Characters that, at the end of they day, if they died nothing of great value would be lost except to those close to them emotionally. A lot of people do not enjoy that concept. They do not enjoy thinking of themselves as inconsequential. They don't want to be just another guy in Ul'dah. A speck. A passerby. A face in one-thousand. They want to be able to make a difference, to be powerful, to have an effect on things even if it's through some obscure power or method like dimensional hopping - or perhaps simply being the prettiest girl anyone has ever seen! "I don't WANT to be a nobody..!" At the end of the day, it's all escapism. That is just their flavor and I hate the way it tastes. I've also thought of my RP characters from other universes and I've never had an inkling to drag them into FF14. They just....square peg, round hole, ya know? It doesn't even sound fun. I can't fathom being so attached to a character that you can't let them be in their world and I've RPed one of them going on...13 years now. That being said I have done dimension hopping RP ONCE and it was with the above character. However, it was closed RP with another person who had also ported a character from a separate universe. This was not in FF and we never took it outside party chat. It was not so much being very attached to the characters as it was the goal of seeing how they would survive and react when thrown together in a strange land. Truth be told, we played our mains WAY more. It felt like a one trick pony is a very small corral and it got old quick. -
Ignore this person. It's honestly not even worth dealing with.

I congenially and respectfully disagree. A character can just be a horrible character and the player can then get on another one and play much better - this I will agree with. But things like grammar, sentence structure, the content of RP, flagrant and unnecessary sexuality with no actual basis in the character's development... You can't fix that. The player just needs to grow out of it or stay within circles that like it or don't mind it. I don't think it's bad having standards and playing by them. That being said, more often than not I do give people chances. I'd say I'm batting at about a 90% disappointment rate.

I believe I saw you in the Forgotten Knight. Twas PvEing at the time so it's not for a lack of seeming interesting that I didn't approach. A couple things I always do when I spot someone that interests me is I always tab out and look for a wiki or profile or some such. Having one of these can help immensely. A good wiki can make me stop what I'm doing and send a tell going "Hey, I can't at the moment but RP. This needs to happen." Also joining the right linkshells and speaking up in them is a great way to find RP and new people. For example, you were in the Forgotten Knight and if memory serves you character did seem Ishgardian. I would suggest joining Ishgard RP and an associated FC on that character. Something I've noticed is lot of people in the game suffer from perpetual and significant shyness. I highly HIGHLY doubt any of it is personal.

He looks gorgeous and seems beautifully broken. ...Sorry, I'll stop channeling AFI. Please RP with him. He needs friends. Or enemies. Or people he tolerates from time to time because he secretly wants something from them. I will hit you up in game.
