  1. I don't believe 3.1 has made any change to this, as far as pre-Heavensward content goes. In 3.0 they doubled the exp rewards for MSQ, as far as I know (I began playing at 3.0, but this is what I've gathered from others). My experience on new characters is that I can reach the mid-30's in level by doing almost exclusively MSQ and Hunting Log completion - that's without doing roulettes for the daily bonus, without pursuing fates, and so on. If you do actually do some fates while you're out questing, hit up your daily dungeon and guildhest roulette, and try to complete your weekly Challenge Log entries for dungeons, fates, and guildhests, it's pretty smooth to get to 50, and the oft-besmirched "Patch MSQ" isn't as bad as people say. It's basically a couple hours of running around, if you click/esc through the dialogue/cutscenes, with several dungeons and trials to complete (none of which have had very lengthy queue times for me as either DPS or Tank). All the crap to get to Ishgard is suffering.
  2. Can anyone confirm/deny if they've made the MSQ grind less painful for new characters/alts?
  3. I think I'm a little different than most when it comes to this. My RP is like a switch. I flick it on and off. I put in my info if I'm IC/OCC and try to keep it updated. Sometimes I'm tabbed out working on something or handling something and people walk up when I'm OOC and I have to say "Sorry, later friend!" I feel like a bit of a jerk but I can't really drop what I'm doing at the time. I react badly when people push me to RP with them when I tell them I'm OOC/busy. That is weird to me.
  4. On a positive note I cleared AS1 last night right before the servers went down. :bouncy:
  5. You are correct. A-Towa-Cant makes it pretty clear that he has a limited amount of time and he can't stay, and the fact that he's there at all is a "boon," iirc. They aren't reforming a physical body. They're inhabiting someone else's body (like a parasite) and subjugating that person's will to their own. In essence, the victim is "possessed," a la demonic possession. I'm hoping Sounsyy will chime in, but I could swear that the dark crystal is just basically their physical tether to the person they're possessing. Destroy the crystal and their hold on the physical realm is severed, sending them back to the lifestream (but they hop through the void instead, iirc). She actually cast a spell - Flow - and got lost. It's not exactly the same, but they did say during the questline to free her that had she remained much longer in the Lifestream, she would have ceased to be as an individual and basically have died. Specifically the part about demonic possession: Nahabrahoohaa (screw his name) actually formed into another body while the other laid dead on the floor. This lead me to believe they can just...form flesh bodies. This might be an inaccurate assumption but I also don't remember it being expanded upon.
  6. Something this thread made me think about was the existence of fiends and pyrefly like creatures like in FF10. I Would think that if a person's "essense" or "soul" if you will was able to stay in the physical realm and manifest it would be a very twisted remnant of what it once was. Some of this is implied in the main story but it's usually explained away with "voidsent".
  7. A couple things jumped out at me as I read this. If I recall correctly it's implied that A-Towa-Cant couldn't stay even if he wanted to. It was like he'd been offered a finite amount of time in which to pass on his legacy before it was up. Who or what willed this to him is unknown. It's so easy to say "The Elementals" but I don't know if I buy it in this case. As far as Ascians I do believe they require a "dark crystal" on the person before they can reform the physical body again as seen with Nahabras. (sp?) He openly taunts the Scions saying he's eternal and there is nothing they can do. A form composed of raw aether would render a person akin to a primal. I am assuming this is why they differentiate the Ascians with the "dark crystals". The massive exception to any of this in the game thus far is Y'shtola. She literally had her physical body reformed out of the lifestream. How much of that is her plot armor and how much of that is....feesable for an average person is debatable.
  8. There are a lot of nice, articulate people I've met through the RPC whom I consider friends. Even more still who I'd like to be better friends with.
  9. Does this ever happen to anyone else? I just had a scene that was so sad I actually welled and teared up a few times. It's rare but I can think of...oh 3-4 occasions when it's happened. Usually loss or some kind or death. I just may be insane too. What about you guys?
  10. Holy crap Faye, you draw? ...Yes, you do. Very nice!
  11. This was a lot of fun and everyone was such good sports was very impressed Loving this place so far.

  13. So there is this song in the 3.1 trailer that plays during the preview of the King Thoradan fight? It sounds like a remix of the song that plays during the opening movie for Heavensward: @ 4 min 31 secs dkRTO7co_Yc Can someone find this somewhere and link it to me Because I am utterly failing at locating it... I NEED DIS. :cactuar::cactuar::cactuar::cactuar:
  14. I'm honestly stoked about the long haired female one - without the bangs? God, yes pls.

  16. A lot of posts here have a lot of wisdom. That being said I've always been hesitant to say you should -never- develop feelings for someone because of bleed. The reason for this being is that meeting someone you click with enough to share these kinds of intimately nerdy things with is pretty rare and I'd never advise something that could result in someone passing that up. I've also known people who somehow end up romantically OOCly entangled with just about anyone and everyone they have an IC relationship with. This is the other side of the spectrum and is just....unstable. As far as having a crush on a -character- this is totally normal I think. In my mind, I equate it to having an attraction to a character from a movie or TV show. They aren't real. Like I'm in LOVE with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. I think the character of Sherlock is hot as hell. Does that mean I'm in love with Benedict as a person? Noooooope. And he would think people that think that way are creepy. This is also why I tend to shy away a bit from people who openly roleplay as themselves. That's just....way too blurry. That being said, all of our characters have a bit of ourselves in them, just like I'm sure there is a bit of Benedict Cumberbatch in his portrayal of Sherlock, but in the end it's not him by any stretch of the imagination. I hope my incredibly dorky example was helpful. :moogle:
  17. Your life must be difficukt, indeed, if you're unable to grasp the concept that people who are overworked and underpaid will occasionally make mistakes. I'm sure you've been perfect your whole life, so this is probably a tough concept to grasp. This is why I detest working retail. I almost beat a 16 year old brat to death once with her Coach handbag working in a coffee shop. Ugh. You have to have the disposition of a saint.
