  1. Hey there and welcome back to the game and the RPC! Do you have any ideas on what kind of connections you'd like for Niyaya? Anything in particular you're looking for? You might want to consider creating a Making Connections forum post with the full description of what you'd be interested in- you might be able to do some targeted head-hunting that way! That aside though, don't feel intimidated by wiki formatting. An easy solution is just to copy-and-paste someone else's wiki code, then edit it for your own use. You are certainly very welcome to use Kasi's as a template if you like! It's fairly simple and I think it's easy to read, but there are more fancy templates out there too (but they tend to get a little more complex at the same time).
  2. Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC!
  3. Man, could have used you a few days ago after a DM plotline wrapped up! It would have been awesome to have a triage healer on-site for the party then. We sadly weren't able to find anyone at the time though. I could potentially nudge you toward looking at ShroudLife (see signature link)- primarily because Sonelle wanders heavily and would likely come into contact with the people in this linkshell. ShroudLife isn't just roaming wilderness RP in the Shroud- it has evolved to be more world-wide wilderness RP- generally stuff that takes place outside the cities. If it sounds interesting to you at all, lemme know!
  4. Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! Sadly as previously mentioned, the majority of the folks here are on Balmung, which is the premiere RP server. If you're really trying to hit the RP hard as a major pillar of your FFXIV experience, then it's definitely worth looking into transferring over at some point!
  5. Wish I could toss something at you, but I'm on Balmung- regardless, best of luck!
  6. Welcome back aboard, and congratulations!
  7. Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! As has already been said, the best option is really to pay the $18 server transfer fee. You'll waste a whole lot less time (and money) to just bite the bullet and start having fun doing RP with away!
  8. Hey there, and welcome aboard! Aside from the recommendations to visit community events, there's also the Quicksand Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah which focuses a whole boatload of RP in one place where you can watch and observe freely. The chat scroll can be a real bother to keep up with though, but this is the premiere place for 'random' RP PUG's. It's certainly not required by any stretch to survive and fill out an entire evening with RP, though! Apart from that, when you're ready, toss up a Making Connections post here on the forums with what you're angling for, and what types of characters you'd like Kuina to have a chance to meet!
  9. Hey there, and welcome aboard to Balmung and the RPC, both of you!
  10. Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! And as previously mentioned- yeah, your best and only bet is the $18 transfer fee to get onto Balmung. It will save you time and energy, and end up being way cheaper than trying to get on normally! Either way, the $18 is worth every dime for getting onto Balmung.
  11. Hey there and welcome aboard to Balmung! You're certainly welcome to run into Kasi, if she tickles at all! Kasi wanders a great deal so she can show up pretty much anywhere on a job or contract. She can show up as a friend, or even an enemy, depending!
  12. Not sure why I didn't see this on the first go, but I wouldn't mind tossing in here!
  13. Hey y'all- I've added you to my hit list. If I don't poke you in-game first, feel free to tap me and I'll get you squared away with the in-game linkshell! Feel free to join the Discord server using the invite link in the OP.
  14. Welcome aboard to the RPC! Yeah, just browse around in the Linkshell forum- see if anything catches your eye. Keep in mind though, if there aren't any recent posts for a Linkshell, it may be dead. You can have up to 8 Linkshells I think, so just make a list of the admins for the ones you're interested in, and see if you can poke 'em in-game! Good luck!
  15. Hey there! I can offer a few potential directions in which to go here, right out! The first is the ShroudLife Linkshell, which is pretty Miqo'te heavy and puts a lot of basis on Shroud RP and roaming RP in general. You're welcome to browse the link in my signature for the full dossier on the linkshell- then just let us know if you'd be interested in that at all, and we'll get you squared away! The second is that Shroudwolf (are you noticing a pattern here yet?) is a predominantly Keeper Miqo'te FC which might be another option. Yes, I might have a little bit of a bias here- full disclosure. You can read about Shroudwolf over here, and decide for yourself (recruitment is closed, but we have ways around that- ahem): [Link] Third and finally, Xerh'a would probably get along fairly well with Kasi, and she has a first-time-meeting attitude improvement when meeting other Miqo'te. She, too, is a thrill seeker and combat enthusiast that loves to go looking for fights. She works as a traveling mercenary, trader, and avid meat cook. In any case though, good luck on your search!
  16. A good fight, eh? He's probably get along wonderfully with Kasi. In any case, welcome back to FFXIV, and welcome aboard to the RPC!
  17. Welcome aboard to the RPC! As already said, yeah, your only real option is to pay the $18 transfer fee and save yourself time and frustration. It's worth the money if you're looking for a whole lot of RP- Balmung really can't be beat. Good luck though, regardless!
  18. I can potentially recommend ShroudLife as a good linkshell to chase after- you can peek at the details in the original thread in my signature! Let me know if you have any questions!
  19. Hey there, and welcome aboard to FFXIV, Balmung, and the RPC!
  20. Hey man! I know exactly what you're talking about here- in large part because I actually was in the Linkshell for a while but never felt like there was a good opportunity to get involved. I can, granted, only truly speak for myself, but I doubt I'm the only one either. So, here's my two gil feedback, as a former GM several times over: Less is more. When any group gets above the 30, 40, or 50 member mark, it stops being interconnected and becomes a crowd. It becomes harder to target individual people and put a spotlight on them, and at the same time, makes it much more easy for people to blend into the background and remain unnoticed. Set an activity mandate and a max member count, and don't budge on it. If you want the focus to be IC, do everything IC. Don't hold OOC meetings that can be held IC. Don't even use voice chat. Make IC the only way things are ever done- this 'tone' will propogate to everyone else by consequence. The GM is the heart of any Linkshell or FC, so their way of doing things will be mimed to a great degree by everyone else as the example to follow. Headhunt. Don't let players blend into the background- with a smaller group, this is infinitely easier to accomplish, as you can headhunt with a crowd of 30- you can't headhunt with a crowd of 50 or 100. It's not a matter of devotion- it's just a simple matter of not having the time. Headhunting accomplishes the task of getting people involved, especially with major plotlines. Have specific roles that need to be filled for the plotline to progress, and headhunt to fill those roles. Double-book them in fact- you will see people drop the ball on occasion, so plan for that. S'all I got! I hope this is of some value to you either way. If you have questions, feel free to tap me!
  21. You're more than welcome! You can go ahead and visit the Discord invite in the OP in the ShroudLife thread- just add your character name to your nickname when you get into the channel (helps with telling who is who- you'll see what I'm talking about once you get into the channel). The ShroudLife Discord is arguably more active than the in-game LS, but you can ask for RP in either channel and get replies!
  22. About all I can say here is that personality, quirks, hobbies, and even someone's employment, defines a character concept far more strongly than any race or in-game class/job. The acid test for characters is, if you remove the race or class/job, is the character still a character? Does it hold up? Just some food for thought!
  23. Hey there, and welcome aboard to Balmung and the RPC! Linkshells and a good Free Company are definitely the ways to go! You can also create a Making Connections post here on the RPC to try and wrangle some more long-term contacts for your characters that would be good matches. All you need is a good idea of what you'd like to be looking for (such as other alchemists, wilderness survivalists in the Shroud, and so on). Based on what little you've said about your characters so far, however, I would point you toward ShroudLife (details in my signature) for Ahzra'li! He ought to be a perfect fit for that Linkshell in particular. If you have any questions about it or would like to get an invite, just let me know!
  24. Welcome aboard to the RPC and to the game! Balmung is really the place to be if you plan to get hard into RP. Sadly, the only way to really get in is via transfer for $18 once the character(s) is 72 hours old. You can move multiple characters at the same time for the flat one-time fee. Otherwise, you have to pretty much depend on dumb luck after a maintenance window to create a new character on Balmung. I wouldn't depend on this though- you'll waste more time trying to do it than you would have saved just paying the $18.
  25. Welcome aboard to the game and to the RPC!
