So all the warriors used to fight in the War of the Magi were also Roes? I think we're kiiiiind of reaching now going by that logic. I mean I'm kind of sorry if you can't take non-warrior Roes seriously but look at the game world. Lalas can be just as strong as your big, tall, hulking Roe. If not stronger. And I'd have to look it up to be entirely sure but I do believe Limsa is putting out their own Warrior corps so....I suppose the other option is to go tell all those folks carrying around big axes as part of their roleplay that they're not "real" warriors anymore. If you read what we have it is highly suggested as such, and no that's not reaching. Hellsguards send a lot of their people out of the Spine. A LOT whether exile because of resources or to find their fortunes. They are being taught by Hellsguards. Hence linking my argument back. Let me guess you've never done the Warrior Quests, or Relic Weapon Quest? As a matter of fact I have. On a Highlander, which is why seeing someone say "ohai cant be a warrior unless you're a Hellsguard" prompted me to step into the conversation. Careful there bout those assumptions, friend. Well for someone that did it you lack a lot of knowledge. So it was a base assumption. Also you lack reading skills because I listed being taught by a Hellsguard was a valid option. Not just being one. Well if you'd go back and look you'll see I added that in. And a base assumption is still what? An assumption. That said, given this debate is coming from the same source of 'I think a woman's period fuels her Inner Beast' I think I'm safe going the other way. /back on topic And Reilan you're right, our warriors can totally be buddies! We can laugh about how my Highlander learned how to be a warrior from [redacted].

1 - Right proper? Who decides what is 'right proper' for each class/race combo? If the devs wanted the classes race locked, they would be. 2 - The races have been allies for how many years now? The 'End of the Era' and 'Heavensward' trailers has everyone's favorite derplander as what class? A warrior. I'm pretty sure, that was for PvE purposes. Lore wise there's nothing to suggest they taught outside their race. Derplander is the only exception we have and we know nothing about his background, he could have been personally trained by a Hellsguard, adopted to one, we literally have nothing. But from the lore we do have suggesting he just picked up his axe one day and was like LOL Warrior, is kind of silly. So all the warriors used to fight in the War of the Magi were also Roes? EDIT: Or taught by one, pardon. Which still, IMO, is as you said, suggested. Which as Warren said (no need for a bigger quote tree) is about as provable as what I'm saying.

Chiming in to say that this is 100% bullshit. We know there were Warriors before we ever got to see them in the game, so it's perfectly fair to presume some of the Olde Warriors ventured out into the world instead of staying in the spine. There's no cemented lore saying "Nope, no one ever left, they all died and only George knows the ways now." We're only shown that, as far as George knows, he's the only one. Which plays perfectly into that being because the others who could teach were Elsewhere into Othard doing other things and teaching other students. Using your own argument against you there's no lore to suggest what you said at all either. However all lore we have suggests that only Hellsguards were Warriors and no other race (with the exception of The Warrior Of Light.) So sure it's plausible some Hellsguard went to Othard and settled down passing his/her teachings on. But that falls into the having had a Hellsguard teacher category. As long as you have a good enough story you can spin and bend a lot of lore sure. (also just finding a Soul Crystal would be bad, because you'd likely just end up a murder machine.) 1 - Right proper? Au Ra Warriors though... Especially in AF1 so they get 4 horns. I mean, come on. 4 badass looking horns. They might not be Roegadyns, but damn they look good as Warriors. There is zero lore to support them though, technically any trying for it should be complete green noobs. Being as Warrior training for all races just opened up aster the HW Warrior quest line. If you want to be a right proper Warrior it's Hellsguard or go home. Everyone else should either be a.) struggling to learn it, or B.) Had a Hellsguard teacher, and been on Eorzea a while so that disqualifies 90% of Au Ra Chiming in to say that this is 100% bullshit. Roe or Highlander, I'd say. RP your Elezen too, chump. 8-)

These feels, I know them. That aside, if the Lala is wearing the tank gear, I'm all for it. It'll look nice and fitting on Mar (eventually).
-
While it would be a little too out of character to have Mar running around with a ton of heretics as a knight, he admittedly has a bit of a soft spot for some of the (innocently) accused considering what happened to his sister. With that said, definitely looking forward to interacting with you guys from the 'Ishgardian Knight' side of things once you get up and running. Feel free to give me a poke ingame too!

Here in FF, definitely. Martiallais is a knight (read: paladin) skilled in sword/shield play and with some combat aetheric abilities. I just write him as not being very skilled in the conjury side of it. Aedan is a warrior (rar). Big axe, inner beast, wreck shop here we come. I deviate from this a little in that I do want to level pugilist/monk on him to represent some skill as a fighter (read: wrestler). But warrior is still his main schtick.

Wow. I didn't even know this was a thing. On the plus side, the movie looks like it might actually be pretty good. The movie doesn't have enough Gungans in it. You were saying?

Why humanity? Why? http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2015/10/19/about-that-dumb-star-wars-boycott/ I just..I don't even know where to start on this LOL.

Who would be your character's voice actor?
Martiallais replied to TheLastCandle's topic in Fun Prompts
This was a tough one but I think Matthew Mercer's Chrom with a touch more of an accent given being around all those other Ishgardians for Martiallais. El7ZKEqAJRc For Aedan I picked Mike Colter who was the voice/face of Halo's Spartan Locke and will be playing Luke Cage here soon. YiK3kIu2zBk -
In Void Ark? Anyone who would bitch at you for class choice in Void Ark is an idiot. Don't give idiots the time of day, Steel. It turns them into gremlins, and no one wants that. I get the feeling Steel's more talking about a certain RPCer who came into our filthy casual normal Alex run and waved around their ilevel peen turning what was fun and relaxed into 'man I wish this guy would drink a nice glass of stfu'.

How can I hold all these roleplayer crushes?
Martiallais replied to Meishali's topic in RP Discussion
Oh man. OH. MAN. There are SO MANY PEOPLE I see around here or elsewhere (or have stalked their wiki pages) that I'd like to RP with, so you are not alone in your (potentially) creepy nugget-ness. I'm pretty bad myself at reaching out because usually I see these folks and the first thought I have is 'well they're over there with all their cool friends and contacts they probably don't want me noob'ing up the place'. But a few times it's worked out well so! -The way I go about it is...I usually try to see what they have going on (some folks keep a 'currently' kind of thing on their wiki or hooks) and how it might mesh with one of my characters (yay alts!). I'm pretty notorious for running up or waving or generally being the big dork ingame sending a whisper that says "OMG I KNOW YOUR NAME FROM x-y-z place". Most of the time the response has been good and conversation has rolled on from there. -While my PMs aren't that aggressive haha it's usually something like 'Hey, wanna go run this or RP or can I bounce a story idea/arc/whatever off of you?' -Storytime! I actually got to RP with Delial after she saved my lame ass out in the Shroud. She healed me while I was on one of my alts then I saw her name again on the forums and was like OMG YOU. And then I proceeded to throw crazy RP stuff at her which ended up with her being dragged into a nice lil story arc of mine then an event of hers. It was great fun. -I am usually super excited to share story stuff even if I'm not the 'main' character (which honestly I tend to prefer) focus or whatnot. I love playing sounding board to others because bouncing ideas around tends to bring more ideas and more excitement and it's one big loop of goodtimes more often than not. -I can't say I've had any overly bad experiences in FFXIV regarding this but definitely in other games. I'm getting better about posting in 'making connections' threads for folks when I can now that a lot of leveling and other story stuff has calmed down. The downside is just, as has been mentioned, time and schedules and making things work that way. Speaking of, this thread reminds me of one I had been meaning to post in! -
My body is ready for all of these things.

Lore Question: Soulstones and how to acquire them.
Martiallais replied to Lumizumi's topic in Lore Discussion
Going to throw myself in as someone who doesn't really use soulstones in RP at all. It's training/talent/etc for my characters. But reading over the thread I do like the suggestion Crofte (I believe) mentioned, that they're simply cliff notes. It won't be enough to help you pass a very in depth test, but enough for you to skirt a quiz if needed. -

Hunter for Hire Seeking Connections
Martiallais replied to chaoticsleepy's topic in Chronicled Connections
While Aedan doesn't do much in the way of outright bounty hunting (I view him more as a monster hunter, which...I guess still falls under bounty hunting whatever!), there's definitely space for another hunter contact/RP if you're up for it sometime! -
Heyas! A lot of the listings in the LS hall are for linkshells. That aside, I'd maybe look to fill out your shells with themed ones that fit your character (there are a few for certain places like Ishgard and La Noscea), some for sneaky/shady sorts, etc. Last I read Melodia was heading more in a pirate-y direction so that might be an option potentially. Another thing to look at might be just general OOC LSs for RP'ers. I know there's Open RP, Friends of Momodi, and Excellent RP off the top of my head.

Character Idea: Fifth Astral Era Knight
Martiallais replied to SessionZero's topic in Character Workshop
I think it's a pretty neat idea. I'm unfamiliar with the finer points of the lore and it'd definitely be something to like brush up on, but it could be fun depending on how you run with it. -
On Rescuing Heretics - Ishgard Lore Question
Martiallais replied to Michaux's topic in RP Discussion
I have a similar sort of instance in Mar's backstory (story/info TBA!). So by all means, go for it! I also ran with the whole 'there are more villages/places than seen ingame' aspect, but had it take place more within Coerthas than Ishgard proper. -
Greetings and welcome from one former CoH'er to another!

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Martiallais replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Mhaya was SUPER (and I mean SUUUUUPER) patient with all my issues leading up to our RP. I had a great time and am definitely looking forward to the next time she talks knightly things with Mar. -
Seconding Inarah here, using a name in an emote definitely is one that I tend to do myself when it comes to events. If they don't respond, I usually send a short tell to ask if they saw it and more often than not it's "oh no, I missed it in the chatscroll", pretty much like everyone's noted. Then the RP goes from there.
