  2. Looks like a new favorite for me! Seriously though, these are great. I imagine Zarek has one or two of the Immortal Flames posters.
  3. I think I'll gladly throw myself into a hug pile after this weekend. Between some bad news (illness in the family) and fights with family, thrown in with some repeated blocks while attempting to make RP happen I'll take them if folks are in the mood to give em.
  4. Welcome aboard (and back!) from one Brandon to another! 8-) Speaking personally it's always great to see more former City of Heroes folks around here! And honestly, we're all odd here. I'm sure you'll fit right in.
  5. For me personally, even if I don't post/necro the threads, there are a lot of good topics in the Char Devo forum that can be very thought provoking for a character. Giant question lists, views on death, how they'd approach combat with others, how they act when drunk, preferences of clothing...those are just a few that caught my eye from the first page. A lot of the lore discussion/debate is going to be in the RP forum and while we don't have a lot of lore about Au Ra as a whole there's nothing to really say you can't go either way. With both you'll have your varying reasons for traveling far from home as well as what might have occurred there (or even upon arriving) that nudged them towards interest in magic or tech...or both haha. As another suggestion, something I used to try and build my Xaela in my head was looking into the various classes/jobs and reading up on their lore to help me visualize and fill in the gaps on my character. What was originally going to be a Dark Knight spent some time in my headspace alternating between Ninja and Machinist but when I settled on Warrior everything sort of clicked and fell together. So maybe reading up on Arcanists will give you some inspiration, too.
  6. Welcome back again! I have to agree, it is definitely (money aside) a bit less of a pain to wait out the three days and then server transfer. I actually did the same thing myself just last week. That aside, take a look around and get comfy, there's lots of resources here from different lore discussion threads to the character development forum to try and help you get or bounce some ideas around for your new RP character. 8-)
  7. I'd like to offer Temurgal Malaguld to the Xaela listing. 8-)
  8. Doubtful. Lorewise, Xaela more or less hate the Raen for "being weak" and becoming "civilized". There are a few (possibly?), well at least one group, being the Malaguld, Xaela tribe that is accepting of Raen so it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility I'd say given the lore we have.
  9. Again apologies for the TOTAL DERAIL. But my point wasn't that ALL Ishgardians were one thing or another. I ceded the point that using 'confirmed' may have been a bit hasty (I was excited what can I say!). I actually like the idea that Ishgardians would/should be considered a different subtype but I won't hold my breath on that kind of thing being implemented as anything more than a player canon/RP type deal. I'm still of the mind that Duskies are there and Dzemael's at least okay with them? There was a sidequest (that I'll need to find) that kind of hints at them potentially intermarrying and such. Really for my sakes I was hunting the info to figure out which of the houses my character's family would fall (waaaaaay) under.
  10. Honestly there's been a lot of good advice here. I'd definitely echo taking friends with you to start out. I know I dragged Ameline and Trisselle with me to LOTS of dungeons as I was learning to tank. Another suggestion that I found works well (and shows how nice the community is honestly) is that I often (and even do now) let people know when it's my first time tanking a dungeon. Usually it's something as simple as: "Hey, this is my first time tanking here but not my first time through the dungeon." That often let people know what to expect going in and a few times I even got some nice pointers out of it from people leveling alt classes and such.
  11. So first and most importantly, that's great news to hear! I know some very happy folks due to this news! In response to the other quotes/commentary (ESPECIALLY the last one) all I can say is...what.the actual. fuck.
  12. Last I heard from Fernwahles (sp?) that there were Duskwight in Ishgard. And while it might not be the great house I guess, there is guy in the trial by combat was who was both said and shown to be a part of the Dzemael house including that being his last name. He's certainly the darkest Ishgardian npc we've seen by far...that with the other things does make it seem that way. Skin tone aside he also has bright eyes both of which are Duskwight-y things typically. And then there's Dzemael Darkhold as well as a few side quests that also point towards Dzemael being either Duskwight or intermarrying among them, which, for what it's worth, either are more than enough to work for my personal purposes but that's neither here nor there. That and gray isn't the only skin tone open to Duskwights. There's actually a limit to how dark you can make a Wildwood. I know because I tried it, but I didn't mean to derail the whole thread. If need be it can be a discussion everywhere but generally speaking prior to closing the gates, I was under the assumption that as long as you a) killed dragons and b) loved Halone, you were pretty okay in Ishgard. EDIT: Added to this as now I'm not typing it before running to work!
  13. I have only glimpsed some spoiler stuff and am woefully behind currently in the MSQ compared to most of you speed racers, but I feel like Martiallais is in an okay place, maybe? I'm personally so over the moon at confirmation that Dzemael is a Duskwight house that I think I can take the rest in stride. 8-) I'll let you know in a week or two if that changes though LOL.
  14. There's always reasons why characters deviate from the usual naming conventions and often these can be used to help show/say something about the character. It's a part of their story after all! As long as it's explained well when it comes up (maybe an alias or some other reason) most folks will shrug/nod and go along with it. Like most everything in RP, it's all in the presentation. Sure there's bound to be some who disagree with straying from the conventions, but there are enough RPers on the server that you'll be able to find folks who will mesh with/accept what you're looking to do.
  15. Also joining in for hugs for you....that's truly a damn shame.
  16. Welcome back to the stage of history!! 8-) Seriously, good to see you around again Looking forward to some RPs this time round!
  17. I think I finally settled on a look for my Malaguld clan Xaela.
  18. This. We allllll want to get back to the precious but let's not go biting off fingers.
  19. Nope. I'm sitting here, having my morning tea and a really good laugh over this thread. But I still <3 you all. 8-)
  20. hPHbXdHRHOc Welcome to the RPC, where we have...well more than one rule. Still one good reference deserves another. 8-) Your Xaela idea sounds interesting though! I'm still waffling on if/what to make of mine but if something pops up that works I'll give a shout! Dive in and enjoy the fun here, we're all mostly harmless...usually.
  21. Boy they sure took it down to the wire, eh? But it's a lot of good stuff so I can't complain TOO much. Now to go brainstorm furiously. I'm already super picky with my names, so this may take a while.
  22. Double whammy! Zarek would be the stereotypical kid in the back of class, throwing rolled up straws at people during class, usually late (if not skipping), and generally preferring to rather be anywhere but school. See also that guy who'd take just about any dare for cash. Loves sports (and is pretty good when he actually tries) but hates studying so probably never gets to play. Martiallais is the handsome guy who people probably view as stuck up and/or snobby until you talk to him. Turns out he's that kid always looking for friends! Who knew? And somehow he ends up with a lot of them. Mostly the kind of odd but fun ones. Still he does some of everything, is average at it, but somehow makes it out of school with tons of fond memories.
  23. Much props to Hammer for an amazing (and hilarious to read) golf swing. I wasn't there to hear about it but I got to read it courtesy of some LS-mates Much applause and cheers went up in your name, good sir!
  24. I do pretty much all the CS/portal maintenance/internet shenanigans for my company. We sell "decorative hardware" aka the bright/fancy/shiny handles/pulls/hinges people put in their homes.
