Hah, sounds like there's a few of us planning that. I made a FFXIV/Aeon card deck just for maint night, so we're having a drinking/Mumble/CAH evening. I'm thinking I'll take Martiallais through PLD and get that to 60 for the armory bonus, while working on DRK on the side. I figure there's always a lack of tanks so having that at a higher level will mean I'll have less wait time for trying out the dungeons AND some more experience when I level Zarek to 60 on MNK.

Hnnnngh Titan EX. I died to weight of the land (a bit of lag making me eat about 4 at once) nearly EVERY time it popped up. Then was promptly knocked off the platform. This happened pretty much every time I ran it until I (mostly) learned the pattern and started trying to move to anticipate the reactions. When I finally did clear it, I was able to stay on, without dying until Titan was at about 15% left.

Martiallais is a combatant, no doubts about it. 8-) I agree, given how nobles usually tend to be (aka far removed from what's really happening) in fantasy settings, I can imagine them putting on events here and there honestly. That or 'underground' parties of sorts, which would make sense if you compared it to WH40K (complete with optional heretics!).

Don't mean to derail or hijack the thread but there are a number of different characters/views of Ishgard abounding. While I agree that it -would- be hard for her to get back in, I don't think every person or every family with a member branded a heretic literally up and says 'okay I must be guilty'. I have to agree that part of the fun of roleplay is creating these kinds of situations and then letting them play out, however that may be. My own character is a knight who has stayed on his best behavior due to helping a family member that was framed and labeled a heretic...at least according to rumor. That said, back on topic and to the OP, you mentioned her being a femme fatale, and wanting to get her life back. I'm not sure what other sort of character arcs you have in mind or other bits on her personality (have to finish reading the wiki, apologies!) but it sounds like she could be ripe for becoming a dark knight, in function if not ingame class. The pieces (and this is just IMO) seem there. If she can't, in fact, get her life back, why not go after the ones who ruined hers to begin with?

Crossing over into DRK territory with Martiallais and seeing how long I can run with that RP is definitely at the top of my list, followed closely by just more places to RP that are Ishgard related. New Monk skills (and to a lesser degree everyone else's skills), new limit breaks and honestly more game/dungeons/raids to poke at. I'm looking to get a new computer in the future and once I don't have bits of lag here and there I'd really like to try raaaaaiding some more.

But then why did they go to such great lengths to hide Amdapor and all of its surviving knowledge away? If they could just take White Magic away on a whim, what would it matter if that civilization was later discovered and learned from? Not having a single horse in this race, my uneducated guess would be making a pretty HUGE example. Typically, if you make a big enough example once you never have to do so again.

Martiallais has run into two different RP'ers who say they're skilled chocobo racers, so I'd say it's definitely a thing. Same with a breeder as well I'd imagine. I want to say there was mention of it (breeding) in some quests in the Shroud but I can't remember exactly.

I've been a part of these in CoH mostly. Once my main (awww yeah Max Impact) was the rescuer and twice he was the kidnappee (is that the right term?), but it was used as a vehicle for a bigger story. I was also involved in a few in GW2. They can be done well, though I agree, too often and one begins to feel a Mario/Princess Peach dynamic forming which I pretty much loathe.

The struggle is real. ;_; I've been chewing on doing the exact same thing for my Elezen and I haven't much real tumblr'ing since GW2. Since Ms Moonlit helped me with/got me into it back then, I'm just gonna blame her. >_> Join the dark side. The more things change, the more they stay the same. LOL

I would just remember, at the end of the day you're playing the game for YOUR enjoyment and your character. Everyone has a different view of the pretendy funtimes we enjoy and thankfully as not all our views are the same, there are differing sandboxes that we can all play in without having to resort to kicking sand in each others eyes. It's just a matter of finding the right sandbox and folks to play in who have the same view as you do.
