  1. Hmm. I think we could make this work out okay. 8-)
  2. Welcome aboard! I've heard good things about your group from a friend who recently joined!
  3. Riiiiiise thread, riiiiiiise! Kael Aideron Klynzahr Iyrnahctwyn V'aleera Lhuil - After being called a heathen
  4. Haha I do this too! Usually I end up sending a /wave or /hug or shooting over a whisper like 'hey omg I recognize your name!' ...all while hoping I don't sound like the big dork I feel like I'm being.
  5. Two of my three characters can and do use teleportation on their own but only one of them actually does it with any regularity. It's more of an option to use for me more than anything. More often than not travel RP can be too fun and interesting to pass up in my opinion.
  6. Funny enough this is actually the kind of situation I'm in. Martiallais has, admittedly, become more of my main but he's actually not an IC part of the FC I'm in. Literally all the RP I do with him comes from friends and people outside the FC (with the exception of one or two people). So while there was definitely something of a brief lull in RP, I can see it coming back and it's definitely picking up. I can honestly say there are still people I'd like to RP with eventually but the timing just hasn't fallen into place yet. With Aedan and Zarek however, it's been much slower meeting and making new contacts but again, definitely starting to happen. Thankfully I have the FC and friends to lean on there.
  7. It had taken more inquiry and gil than he would've preferred to spend on such a matter, especially since it required a more...delicate touch than simply appearing in his armor. Fortunately, the call of gil and a few well placed, but truly spoken words found Martiallais knocking on a door not too far from the edge of the Brume. Knocking gently at the door in the pattern he'd been instructed, he exhaled silently, watching the puff of cool breath slowly disappear. The door opened partly, allowing half a face to peek out before the eyes scanned him, and upon noting the hint of armor beneath his cloak the door slammed shut just as quickly. In truth, it was nearly the reaction he expected. Exhaling once more, he knocked again this time leaning in closer to the door as he spoke calmly. "Madam, open the door." While he didn't enjoy playing on the fear his kind often invoked in the area residents, he assumed it would come to such. "I am Martiallais Heuloix, knight of Ishgard and need to speak with you regarding an investigation of murder." Leaving the rest of his the usual line of threats unspoken, the duskwight remained patient, giving a look around before the door finally opened. Stepping within, he bowed his head in thanks, looking around as a rather tall Elezen woman closed the door and stood staring a pair of holes into the knight's armor. Bowing his head, he smiled politely. "Forgive the sudden interruption, as I understand it you keep quite busy here, Madam Irie." "That I do. Someone has to care for those none do. So by all means Ser Knight, keep your business brief. What would the high and mighty Holy See do here other than bring trouble to mine doorstep?" Lifting a brow at her words, Martiallais gave a soft exhale. She was, as near he could tell, something of an older Elezen, her hair still a vibrant black despite the streaks of grey interspersed here and there. Clearing his throat, he nodded once. "Well then, on to business. I'm here to speak with you regarding a young woman named Martine. She was a servant of the Baihond family and-" "And pregnant," she cut in, still glaring at the clearly confused knight. With a sigh that hid none of her annoyance, she elaborated. "Of course you wouldn't know, those who live with heads in the clouds can hardly be bothered with the reality here on the ground." Turning away from him Irie strode back through the house, passing tables cluttered with instruments, crimson stained gloves, and even containers holding parts suspended in liquid. "Madam Irie, if you would clarify mayhaps? Lady Ezelle said you may be able to help and aid you can lend would be appreciated." Turning into a makeshift office, she exhaled, taking her seat in a chair resting behind a cluttered but largely whole desk. "Alright. I will help you but only if you help me." After a moment, her tone lighted, ever so slightly as she motioned to the empty chair before her, the rather expressionless look she'd worn until this point changing into a smile. "Please step into my office and have a seat. Doctor Bresson will see you now." Having remained in the doorway, Martiallais peered inside then gave a shrug, walking in to take a seat before pushing the door closed. "Alright, I'm listening."
  8. Though he was beginning to feel the effects of pulling a literal all nighter, Martiallais Heuloix couldn't help but grin. While most may have attributed it to the freshly delivered coffee sent for he and the other knights stationed at Falcon's Nest, the duskwight held an even better reason than the all too welcome warmth. His patrol was still some bells away, thankfully, but that gave him time to sort through his thoughts. At least such was his intent until he heard his name being called. Turning, he offered a smile and nod to the messenger lad, trading several gil for the message in hand. A glance up at the sky confirmed that he didn't need to immediately worry for snow ruining the message, allowing him to read and continue sipping his coffee. He'd hoped the request for information regarding strange happenings in and around Mor Dhona would bear fruit, but he certainly hadn't expected it to happen so soon. "Caravans en route for Mor Dhona attacked by grisly looking figures..." It wasn't much to go on and something of a reach but the interference with Ishgardian transports alone was enough to warrant an investigation. And if it happened to be the people he was looking for...all the better. Exhaling, he frowned down at the liquid in his cup. He'd given his word that he'd not attempt this alone and it would take far too long to officially request any sort of aid. However, watching an armored Miqo'te walk by gave him an idea. He simply needed to unofficially inquire about aid in protecting Ishgard's interests. He couldn't imagine she would say no to that, not by a long shot.
  9. I heard this thread could use a bit more Highlander. Enjoy. 8-)
  10. Thanks again for the arts Braeya! Zarek looks great, so expect to hear from me again soon. 8-)
  11. I'm not sure if this is exactly the right spot for it buuuuut... https://docs.google.com/document/d/12JkVghi_uNZcl-paUgEqHVEjRWQY5-Y_sBUgp_TCv5A/edit?usp=sharing
  12. The Halone symbol shone brightly in the air. V'al knew she was needed.
  13. #2. I got my start roleplaying online via those old Angelfire sites, specifically Dragonball Z. Let the judging begin. Future Trunks, mostly, before anyone asks. After that it was D&D and Whitewolf games (Aberrant, Hunter, Werewolf) with college friends. City of Heroes was released not long after that and I've been hooked ever since. #3. I'm very self conscious when it comes to my writing or RP'ing, especially with someone new for the first dozen or two times we RP. I apologize if I've been 'that friend' who annoyingly asks if something was good/fun/enjoyable too much. #4. If you have a wiki in your signature and have said something I thought was funny/interesting/agreed with/saw randomly...I've probably read said page. I really would like to add rumors and things on pages to let people know they were being read but more often than not it's people I've never rp'd with or seen ingame.
  14. There are a lot of posts here that echo things I feel (+1s incoming for those posts!) but since I haven't seen this noted yet... I worry that I'll be seen/judged as not a 'serious' roleplayer because I don't have a wiki, unfinished or otherwise. There are people who I know that don't post or frequent the forums even who have pages up for their characters. The truth is I have word docs with tons of info on them about my characters and just...haven't done it yet. This is partly due to nerves (there are some really AWESOME wiki pages out there) and partly because every time I go to do it, I make a mess of the formatting.
  15. Trying to pump myself up a bit...it IS definitely a Monday morning. HhzQ0BzxpOE
  16. According to the tales his mother oft read him by candlelight, knights were valiant, honorable heroes who smote dragons, completed epic journies, and were generally noble and liked. The reality, however, was proving yet again to be far different, as Martiallais Heuloix sipped tea, half-heartedly listening to Ser Fulax Baihond drone on about how the order of Ishgard's knights had 'changed so' from the times of 'his day'. While it wore a sheer veil of polite nicety, the Duskwight was well aware of what the man truly meant. Thankfully, he had learned to politely allow such and more to roll off his armor. In truth, he'd arrived at the residence in order to obtain more information that could be helpful with the very investigation the Baihond family had requested. Their daughter's handmaiden, a hyur woman of low (by the Baihond's standards) birth, had recently gone missing. Unfortunately, when she was found, it was in the Brume, the light having left her eyes. Sad, but not as uncommon as one would believe. What made things more complex was the addition of information from another element that had the knight's mind twisting and turning. The Roegadyn, called Steel Wolf. She was a mercenary, of sorts, someone he'd personally known in battle amid the frigid snows of Coerthas. "Crossing steel and drawing blood can tell you much and more of a person," he mused, halting his thoughts to offer a cursory nod, his contribution to a conversation that continued to carry on without much need for his input. According to Steel Wolf, however, the murder was more than simply a matter of one being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She had no solid evidence aside from whisperings and rumors, but all suggested that it had been a Temple Knight that committed the act. In nearly the same breath, she admitted to working with those called 'dark knights'. It was quite the conversation, to say the least. Her involvement with the hedge knights and her admission of such was entirely unexpected. He bade her thank Halone that she'd spoken to him of such and not another knight as she'd likely have found the reception far cooler than that which he offered. That left him in his current precarious position. Given his own duties, knightly and otherwise, he could hardly be present to watch over her, not that she required much but the hedge knights... Officially, they were regarded with disdain. They were to be hunted and put down in the name of order. Unofficially, Martiallais found more kinship with their goals than he wished to admit. Who would not wish justice to come for those who oft were untouchable by virtue of their birth or standing? It was a thought that he'd mulled over many an eve himself... "Ser knight?" His thoughts interrupted now that the noble sought more than a pair of ears, Martiallais looked up, offering a practiced smile and dip of his head. "Ah, my apologies." Martiallais leaned forward, settling his cup down on the table then rose to his feet, offering a bow. "Forgive me for rudeness, but I would not wish to take more of your time, my lord. I am certain you are quite busy, in these trying days. If you are able to recall any other pertinent information, please contact me." - - - - - With pleasantries exchanged Martiallais left the building, reaching up to rub the bridge of the nose with a sigh. "That was well and truly a-" "Pardon me, ser knight?" Turning at the call, he was greeted by the young Elezen woman who'd introduced herself as the lord's daughter. "Lady Ezelle, forgive me for departing so hastily I-" "Did not wish to listen to my father's rants." She cut him off, offering a knowing nod. Giving a look about, she swept brown hair over her shoulder and lowered her voice. "I pray to Halone you find whoever did this to Martine. She more than some simple servant, she was my friend." Pausing allowed her to steel herself, though Martiallais provided an encouraging nod before she continued. "I believe I know of one who mayhaps can offer more information."
  17. Easing into the small tavern, Martiallias gave a polite, if brief wave to the keeper, brushing a few flakes of snow from his hair and shoulders before finding himself an empty table. With the gates easing open, places like this, within the Central Highlands of Coerthas, served as travel points along the way rather than destinations. Reaching into his bag, the knight laid parchment and ink on the table, looking up as the keeper himself, a tall, wiry Elezen wandered over to Martiallais' side, waiting expectantly. "I'll just have the usual tea, ser. My thanks." Dipping his head, Martiallais' attention returned to the parchment. There was news that needed to be passed along and a letter was like to reach Klyn before he would. Lady Klyn, I pray this reaches you swiftly and in good health. How fares your investigation thus far? I was delayed, somewhat, in reaching the Observatorium, but as you suggested, they were in fact able to provide some aid. Mayhaps I even earned a newfound ally whom we can call upon should such be required in the future. The scribe I spoke with noted three ships passing overhead on the eve of our venture into Dusk Vigil. Of interest to us would be the ship flying the flag and colors we briefly discussed. They took a course that barely skimmed over the mountains to the south in Mor Dhona, likely as a result of the damage they suffered during their withdrawal. I do not believe I need to state the obvious, but there is no place to my knowing where one could land nor house an airship within Mor Dhona. I believe we should focus our efforts there and will be making my way there directly to inquire of the few who may still be familiar to me and may be reached there once I arrive. May Halone keep you till then. Yours in Duty, Honor, & Faith, -Martiallais Heuloix
  18. Welcome back! Though I do believe we've RP'd together already I'm sure I'll see you around on either on Sierra or Azami again.
  19. I can't say I have lore and sources behind it but I know when I first began pondering Martiallais (my Duskie Ishgardian) I gave a nudge to Sounsyy (thanks again!) and Vi both to make sure it was at least plausible. Personally I'm still of the mindset that Dzemael is a Duskie house (or at least mixed/allows them in which most everyone seems to agree on) and for now, for wrong or right have that as a very loose background bit in Mar's story (which I'll get up on the wiki eventually). I will say I'm definitely hoping they'll give us more info and glad to see folks talking about it. I know I had a bit of premature celebration shortly after HW's launch (seriously Grinnaux struck me as a Duskie) but my view hasn't changed much since. Upside, at least we have a thread for putting all the possible information in one place, and for that I say thanks again to those who gathered it.
  20. I finished up Mar's sheet last night and will post it once I get home. EDIT: Shot you a PM about tonight Eva.
  21. Congrats you guys!
  22. Just checking, where should we post up our sheets once they've been completed? I should have Mar's done this weekend. 8-)
