  1. Mar poses 8-) Ameline & Mar on one of many adventures. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
  2. In Dusk Vigil one of the journal notes lying on the ground all over the first parts of the instance indicate they could see the 'red light of Dalamund's fall'. I don't have the exact quote on hand however.
  3. Ugh. Almost makes me wish I'd worked on leveling Zarek before Martiallais. Still, good luck you guys!
  4. Melodia has written some entertaining reads here on the forum! Hope she keeps it up!
  5. Seconded! I really like the this one a lot!
  6. Though the message arrives penned upon a far, far finer paper, the seal and penmanship alike leave little doubt concerning the identity of the sender. Her Grace Lady Evangeline of Primrose, the Beautiful, Fourth of her Line, I trust this letter will find you well despite the haste with which you departed during our last brief meeting. Fortunately, your ally Klyn proved to be rather interesting company and enjoyable conversation though she does admit some doubt in her own skills. Whether that can be attributed to nerves or the weight with which this task has acquired along the way, I pray Halone give her, and us all, strength to see this search through to completion. I doubt I have need to inform you that this investigation has garnered more eyes than I imagine even you intended and as such I would advise extra care with your devices. A tale regarding their effects reached mine ears and while I can certainly appreciate their uses, the safety of all under my watch and completion of the task set before us are my utmost priorities. Please keep such in mind. That aside, I have invited the fourth and final member of our makeshift band to join us. She is a close personal friend and considerably skilled mage. Given your affection for your devices I imagine you'll share a certain appreciation for her skills, should such be required. I trust Halone shall guide our blades when that time comes. Lastly, inform your companions they have not been left out in the cold, as some seem fond of saying. I have gathered this to be a joke, of sorts, further south. Tis one of many rather strange sayings that I have overheard and surely the meaning will not be lost upon them. There are still some preparations left to be made, but they are few and far between. Let us depart sooner than later, lest we chance a turn in the weather that would delay either our departure or our return. In Duty, Honor, and Faith, -Martiallais Heuloix
  7. Figure I'll toss a few shots in here.
  8. Thanks for sharing. I completely get that. I find too often we don't give ourselves 'the benefit of the doubt' that we'd give others. When I start a new thing I'm often looking for an excuse to run away from it. I have a bad habit when I join a new FC, I feel like everyone is going to dislike me. So often the first hint of it, I try to run away before I can get ostracized. Almost always though, its my own head working against me, and whatever Issue I'm freaking out about isn't as big a deal as I thought it was. Even when I have small successes at the start, it can sometimes only ramp up the pressure, because I feel like I have to keep satisfying people. I used to make gaming youtube videos, for example, and people liked them, but it's scary to make more, because I feel like one failure will screw up all those successes <_<. This is me as well, honestly. I am usually a big ball of cyclic worries that I'm going to screw up or my character will somehow mess up a story someone has planned or that I'll fail as a tank...the list of just things pertaining to the game honestly goes on and on. And while there's definitely been times where I dropped the ball (Hello me, queue'ing first time for Brayflox as a warrior with gear 5-8 levels below) or have screwed up, if not for some of you crazy cool folks, I probably would've stopped by now. When it comes to things like writing or running story arcs, I usually sit on them because of concerns that it might be a dumb idea, or it could start off really strong then suck at the end...and I know I personally HATE movies that are great up till the ending and SO all my rambling aside, it's nice to see and know that other folks are dealing with these things too. For what it's worth though, while I was able to pick out all the things -I- thought went wrong or didn't work or come across as well with the story arc...apparently people had a lot of fun. The saying that we're all our worth critics is entirely true but try not to let that hold you back. Or like I did, just find a few people who don't seem to mind listening to your worried rambles....I know I had to have sent Steel at least a dozen messages during it all >_>
  9. I...really may need to take you up on this. *nods slowly* I've got a lot of the info blurbs and tidbits ready, even a template (and permission to use it) but am just clueless and kinda freeze up when I start working on it.
  10. I almost hate I'm gonna be out of town for the weekend this falls on (happy birthday to me). I hope you guys run this again though!
  11. You know, I play a DPS and two tank classes and from the tank perspective....I gotta say while sure DPS may (most times) be a dime a dozen having a GOOD dps or at least dps willing to work with you is a Twelve-send and can make even a run while you wipe against a boss 2-3 times still fun and way more enjoyable than one who has the 'I do wut I want' attitude. So from one class to another, please give yourself some credit.
  12. Ahh what a fun question. Zarek deep down in his inner self hidden beneath layers of sarcasm and BS would love this. To be celebrated, praised, and looked up to. For a kid born in Ul'dah to somehow rise to a place where he's considered a 'hero' would be tantamount to wish fulfillment. Gil & girls, coin & country, etc etc. But the reality is he's really only good at one thing and that's putting the hurt on people and things, which is something he accepted a long time ago and is content with doing despite how it makes him appear to others. Martiallais is probably the closest to being an actual hero but would never accept that or simply deflect the praise elsewhere. He's a knight, after all. Honoring his vows and protecting his people (which is really Ishgardians, Elezen, and pretty much anyone he feels sufficiently close to), those things matter more than praise or being viewed as a hero. Temurgal just wants his people (Au Ra) to prosper and stop fighting long enough to retake their homeland. He'd like to be seen as a hero in a sense, as someone strong and maybe even worthy of being followed, but it's not a priority by any means. Protecting his family and being strong enough to do so is far, far more important in his eyes. Though he's starting to realize that there may be some value in heroic deeds/reputation so he's kind of easing onto the path from a different angle.
  13. Well there is the rather Duskwight looking guy that you face in the MSQ during the trial by combat? His skin tone is darker than what you can make with Wildwoods in the CC and he also has bright eyes both of which are typically attributed to Duskies. He's also -named- after a certain house but.... It's kind of up in the air, as far as I know? Some say they're there but obviously in smaller numbers compared to the Shroud while others say they can't be since apparently no sun = automatically pale (which is TOTALLY different argument itself). Since I play an Ishgardian Duskwight, obviously I'm a little biased in my opinion here. >_>
  14. Pfft! You're not spamming at all, please keep the updates coming!
  15. Consider this a shining endorsement from that aforementioned Elezen. Seriously though, Cei's fun to RP with and only a little crazy (most days)!
  16. I'd be willing to toss Martiallais in for participating/helping out with some festivals, of course. 8-)
  17. Gonna repeat a lot of what's been said as I definitely am one to get a bit of 'tank nerves' the first time I'm in a run or even randomly queue'ing now and then. I agree stating up front if it's your first time in a place (I usually run with friends my first time or two in a place if I can help it for this reason) is a good idea. And honestly as someone who plays tank and dps I like to be ready/prepped to offer aid in either role if needed. I've found, for me at least, that things like marking and instructions can make a run smooth. I try not to assume people will know what to do unless I don't see the 'new player completion bonus' message. Just remember that as the tank, you set the pace that you (and your healer) are comfortable at. If people don't like that, they can leave but don't feel you have to pull a giant chunk of the dungeon if you aren't ready for it. Just communicate and more often than not people are glad to work with you to see things through.
  18. Heya! I have only RP'd on my Xaela, Temurgal, about a handful of times but I think I'm ready to offer him up for more Au Ra RPs and RP on the whole. I can PM you some info on him since I'm a total slacker when it comes to wikis, if you'd like.
  19. I love it when you're brainstorming a story/story arc and bouncing ideas off someone and things finally just fall together. Please look forward to it. 8-)
  20. Hugs for you 13uddy! Hang in there man, we're rooting for you!
  21. I'd lean towards the dreads over the other (though both are awesome) just because it's not seen as often (IMO). I like having ways here and there for my characters to visually stand out a bit if possible.
  22. Coming to TV this Fall....one's a knight, the other an accused heretic. Presenting yet another buddy cop show: "Ishgardian Nights" Please look forward to it. 8-)
  23. F38e7z1bP70 I had Martiallais sing a tweaked version of this in an RP. "We're the children of Ishgard we fight all our lives, And when Halone beckons, every one of us dies."
  24. Following Chachan's example here! 8-) But I voted paladin as that's the one getting the most RP regularly for now. That changes week to week though, honestly. Zarek is was initially a Pugilist, plain and simple. He followed a lot of the same story paths of the class because it was easiest for me when I made him (my first FF14 character), meaning he worked as muscle for the Platinum Mirage, etc etc. He's also done some time as a miner and a gladiator (even if he was mostly in fixed fights). Recently, he's taken steps thanks to Mistalv Arroway to actually become a Monk, including opening his first chakra so..not quite a full blown Monk but more than a Pugilist now. Martiallais is an Ishgardian knight. He has some lancer training (which he abandoned before he would've been up for dragoon training), but fights with sword and shield mainly. He has some passable healing ability but mainly focuses on defensive/offensive magic (in that order) so Paladin fit him perfectly. I don't call him a paladin IC, merely a knight but it's pretty much the same thing. Temurgal is a Xaela warrior who uses a giant axe. While I would view him as more the 'eye of the storm' sort than a berserker, the inner beast/warrior dynamic fit his concept perfectly. It's come up in RP more as a generic warrior (meaning a combatant rather than the class) but it's what he'll be in character as well. I originally thought to go ninja with him but with where I believe the character can go, a class like Warrior ties in with the concept much, much smoother.
