  1. Bumping this up to the top as I hope it goes really well! I won't be able to make it tonight but as always, kick ass out there fighters!
  2. If we plan it, they will come. 8-) I likely won't be able to attend but you know I'll gladly help get things up and off the ground with this, Faith. Any ideas/suggestions for some Balmung IC funtimes are most definitely welcome and approved in my book.
  3. Just wanna say this LS is great. You all should pat yourselves on the back.
  4. Character: Zarek Windsoul Primary Weapon(s): Fists & Feet Class-equivalent: Pugilist Style: Serious Martial Artist meets Showman Offense/Defense/Versatile: Versatile Strengths: Agility, Endurance, Speed Weaknesses: Range, Strength (in that he can be overpowered) Summary: Zarek likes to fight up close, delivering quick punches & kicks to soften up an opponent before going for a big, usually flashy, finish. While his core skills came from teachings that he practiced growing up, his own twists and tweaks to the style come from fighting on the Bloodsands where putting on a show was half the attraction, giving him a mix of both style and substance. Extra: For actual practitioners or those who have seen or studied with Ala Mhigan fighters, Zarek's moves actually (unbeknownst to him) have their bases in that same style due to his mother's teachings. If someone wants to pick up that hook and run with it (especially a Highlander) then by all means!
  5. Thanks for this! Glad to see other martial artists that think about these things as well. In my mind, Zarek is somewhere between Isshin Ryu with some flash from JKD-esque moves thrown in due to his time actually fighting in the arenas.
  6. I still need to get recruited (officially) at some point soon. I'll nudge you on skype when I know I'll have plenty of free time for RP-fu.
  7. Category A 1) I -love- female Highlanders and female Roegadyn. The lore (what there is), the look (I <3 my curvy ladies), and the feel of them. It's definitely rubbed off on Zarek a bit I have to say. He tends to flirt with them pretty unashamedly. But no, all of the races really are aesthetically pleasing IMO. 2) I haven't come across any ingame (in rp anyway) just yet but I'm sure they're out there. I say if it works for them and their story, sure, why not. Go for it if it makes sense. 3) See above. I'd think it makes me more open but only in the way of teasing/play flirting to start a convo. Otherwise I'm fairly open period. Category B 1) Nopes. Looks factor in but that's just like saying personality does. It's a thing. 2) Generally speaking with most things Zarek tends to take a laid back/almost apathetic approach. It doesn't bother him until well...it actually bothers him. He might give them a second longer glance or a double take (in the case of say...Lala/Roe) but otherwise, Zarek likes what he likes (and as I said, some of that is what I like).
  8. I can vouch for Sio's sexeh. I saw her ingame. Glad to see the LS thread up and I gave a posty there too! If I can help out with anything, let me know, as always.
  9. My name is Zarek Windsoul and I approve of this post. 8-)
  10. I agree with both these points. The furniture one is actually a really good idea!
  11. While I think (with an accompanying epic tale) it's okay to say you've fought a primal (and no, not just you alone, I mean a large group of people when I say you) and beaten them back one of many times...I would (personally) say it's a bit much to IC-ly have the primal furniture. Primals are supposed to be a realistically terrifying thing that trained magic users (summoners) are only able to control a fraction of. When normal, non-adventuring types encounter primals, they're forever changed and have to effectively be 'put down' as it were. So, I'd think housing a trophy piece of a creature like that, while it might make a great talking centerpiece, would kind of serve to downplay the very real threat they present to everyone they come into contact with.
  12. You folks are all great. Seriously. But on topic, this was a nice read, even as someone who's run the rp gamut (pretty literally). And it's always nice to see like opinions (and even differeing ones!) regarding this sometimes touchy topic. After all, some people are very shy/uncomfortable/etc about discussing sex in real life, so online and roleplay can and does mimic that at times. Roleplay is about breathing life into a character and making them 'real'. That very much includes relationships with others (which often allow characters to reveal all kinds of things about themselves that wouldn't happen otherwise), and *gasp* actual relationships. It's all about comfort level for me though, both your own and that of anyone else you're rp'ing with. Live and let live and keep what goes on in public at least 'passingly' respectful and generally all will be well, I've found.
  13. I like the sound of this! Cool idea and who knows, Zarek might get a reading done sometime just to say he did.
  14. Is it bad that I want to suggest something with a fist and/or foot? Possibly a shield or really any kind of combat/war indicator might do well IMO. But I am lacking in the artistic talent medium to say the least.
  15. What Lost River said! Also, just wanted to echo everyone else...these are really great!
  16. I really like the Whetstone/Grindstone angle. Simple, fitting, and like you mentioned (and important for bringing in/opening up RP) easy to pass around by word of mouth without a ton of explanation.
  17. Awesome Sio! Can't wait to see some more!
  18. How about we name it based on like the arena or wherever it's held? That or coming up with a meaningful name/phrase will work. I know ingame there's at least the Bloodsands in Ul'dah....but I'm not sure where else may have them (in some RP last night, Zarek mentioned that he suspected Limsa likely has an underground-ish fight circuit). Just to toss the suggestion in.
  19. Just popping in to say I had a great time, despite how crazy it was (on the helper/guard end of things)! I'm sorry I didn't get to meet and talk with a -whole- lot of people, but hopefully at least it set the stage for 'Didn't I see you at the Gala?' type meetings and RP down the road with you folks.
  20. Glad to hear you'll be in game soon! Also, yes. Watch Attack on Titan. It's great. 8-)
  21. Heyas Sio! I'll take you up on some RPs for sure! Limsa isn't exactly the ideal place for Zarek (but where is really, that trouble maker...) but I'm sure we'll figure out something.
  22. I had a fairly smooth log in (on Balmung fyi). No tapping zero and waiting, it was one and done. The only issue that hit me was some crazy graphical stuff, so I logged out and couldn't get back in (lobby error). Still, this is progress IMO and they did say that they would ease the server load upwards slowly.
  23. Great thread! 1) I haven't had any text fights (yet) with Zarek, though I imagine I'll see some sooner or later given that I know a few other gladiator/former gladiator characters (and with him being one) that I want to go a few RP rounds with. However, I think I'd take the class they were using at face value and just go along with whatever skill level they RP'd with for their character rather than actual ingame level. 2) Nope, I haven't seen or heard of one just yet (other than in this thread, so do post more info on them!), but I'd imagine as far as in Eorzea goes, there's always the pugilist guild and the Bloodsands/Coliseum in Ul'dah. 3) Do you mean like a potential fight club sort of thing? Or just for training specifically? As for teaching, Zarek's still learning a lot (in my opinion anyway) so he's not really in a position to teach anyone, not that he'd IC-ly, have the temperament to do so anyway. But sparring, definitely always up for some of that.
  24. Right now I've only got one character, Zarek. And he's most definitely a physical/martial artist style character. Despite me poking at the other classes I'll save some of my more 'magical' stuff for a new alt once things like Dark Knight are ingame. For what it's worth, I tend to usually gravitate towards magically empowered physical classes, like the good ole Retribution Paladin.
