Asmodean Posted June 29, 2015 Share #126 Posted June 29, 2015 Odin would classify more as an Eikon than as a Primal (the distinction is made much more clear when you unlock Bismarck EX) in my opinion. I didn't notice a really different unlocking BEX. Kind of rushed it in the just have the damn thing unlocked so if you might fill me in I would very thankful. >.> Became a bit of habit I need to break myself of. Also wasn't Eikon just what the Allagan and Garlean call Primals? From what I noticed them seem to just be what different groups call the same thing. A "to-may-to, to-mah-to" situation. It's also explained that in FFXIV it's much more the sword when you do the Hard Mode trial. >.> really need to still do that then. Still from what I heave heard is Zantetsuken is the problem and not the Man we fight. It just seems he may not be a primal like all the others unless the blade is one. Link to comment

The kid you get the quest from explains that the Allagans used Eikon in a whole other context - such as the Warring Triad who are currently imprisoned and who the EX primals would try to free if left alone. They aren't actually (FROM WHAT WE ARE TOLD) borne of the beliefs of mortals + random source of power. Kinda like how dragons are aliens. The Garleans just use it to refer to any primal because they think they're as cool as the Allagans. 1 Link to comment

Zyrusticae Posted June 29, 2015 Share #132 Posted June 29, 2015 If you go into those Allagan structures in Azys Lla, you'll find a bunch of tanks filled with dismembered dragon parts... It's an incredibly sordid display and truly exemplifies just how cruel and out-of-touch the Allagan people were before their fall. Even so, however, I couldn't help but wonder what exactly was their objective in experimenting with these parts... Link to comment

Adventurer Posted June 29, 2015 Share #136 Posted June 29, 2015 [18:19]Matoya: When did the light fade from your eyes? [18:19]Y'shtola: I might have known that it would not escape your notice. It has been this way since I returned from the Lifestream. An aftereffect of the teleportation magick I invoked, most like. [18:19]Matoya: They are called “forbidden spells” for a reason. What were you thinking, girl? [18:19]Y'shtola: I have no regrets. I but did what was necessary to preserve the light of hope─to keep my promise to Minfilia. [18:19]Y'shtola: Besides, it afforded me the rare opportunity to wander the aether─a once in a lifetime experience. [18:19]Matoya: I need not tell you that it consumes your very life force to see by sensing the aether around you. Take care of yourself, do you hear me? [18:19]Y'shtola: I will, Master Matoya. And thank you. So it may actually be the spell. Perhaps she's only slightly impaired. Perhaps everyone is wondering why she is getting by so easily and thinking "Oh well it seems like it's not a big deal." Also, it seems implied that Y'shtola doesn't expect everyone to notice it so easily. That conversation gave me a sense of dread, really. Especially Y'shtola saying she has 'no regrets and did what was necessary'. I'm of the belief that she's blind and by seeing through 'aether sight', she's slowly killing herself. Which makes me sad. That's what I got from it, anyway. Interested to see where they go with it. Link to comment

Something else I am starting to think that the whole WoL vs WoD is gonna be a fight between Hydaelyn vs Zodiac. Whose hopes and dreams are stronger? Which eikon wins? Link to comment
Gegenji Posted June 29, 2015 Share #138 Posted June 29, 2015 Something else I am starting to think that the whole WoL vs WoD is gonna be a fight between Hydaelyn vs Zodiac. Whose hopes and dreams are stronger? Which eikon wins? I dunno. The whole mention at the end of about the balance going out of whack has me leery. Again, I'm thinking back to FF3 and the "Flood of Light" from the previous millennia that serves as the precursor to the "Flood of Darkness" in the game itself. Perhaps there really is a balance that needs to be maintained, and the WoL might actually need to be stopped at some point... or at least work to return things to the status quo. Or it could simply be misinformation being given to the WoD as a means to motivate him into fighting the WoL. There's been unreliable informants in the game before. The White Ascian always seemed to be pretty on the level, though, making me give more weight to what he says and does. Link to comment

Something else I am starting to think that the whole WoL vs WoD is gonna be a fight between Hydaelyn vs Zodiac. Whose hopes and dreams are stronger? Which eikon wins? It is possible but I doubt it as in both ff3 the Warrirors of Darkness are not evil, just the other side of Light. Hell ff4 even had Crystal of Darkness in the underground world. I don't think Light and darkness are going to become the more western view of good and evil most think of it as. Balance has been important in a few Final Fantasies but it rarely the focus. I know 3 cared about the balance betwen Light and Darkenss and 6 has the balance between the Warring Triad to stop the world from tearing its self apart. Edit :Ninja'd by Genenji Link to comment
Aduu Avagnar Posted June 29, 2015 Author Share #140 Posted June 29, 2015 I foolishly forgot to take a screenshot, but in Azys Lla, in the Alpha Quadrant there are Clockwork Engineers and Paladins. They are part of a quest which is getting you to test a citizenship compliance program, which is unsatisfactory because you beat the devices... The Allagans were some pretty ruthless peoples. Edit - Shhhh Kage, you saw nothing.... Link to comment

Edit :Ninja'd by Genenji Well... perhaps they are the good guys. It's pretty clear by the end of 3.0 that your character has basically become a primal, imbued with the hope and trust of so many in the world. Or rather the 'warrior of light' has. Much like you were ostensibly restoring the balance before, perhaps the Warrior of Darkness must slay the WoL 'primal' to right the world. Link to comment
