Your character as a student.

Recommended Posts

How is your character as a student? What kind of school would they attend? How would they get along with the teachers/peers?

______________________

My character would be the typical student who sits at the front of the class, gets the best grades, and loves to answer questions (Even those not directed at her.) She'd be the typical twat who'd be like:

Teacher: When was this person born?

Student: 1954

Sasha: Actually, it was April 6, 1954. [insert smug smile]

Also, she'd probably remind the teacher of homework and quizzes if it made her look better in front of everyone. As in, if she did the homework, she'd be the first to remind EVERYONE it was due. If she didn't? Well, then she'd stay quiet.

Really, she'd be hated by everyone unless they were part of her clique. Too nerdy to fit in the "cool kids" club, too stuck-up and proud to fit in the stereotypical nerd group. She'd probably ft in with the nerdy preppy kids. She'd likely go to a private school and still act like she's above others.

You're welcome to say you'd slap her.

This is actually a large part of my character's backstory. She comes from Sharlayan and was the top student in her class. She's always been the quiet type and while she wasn't openly smug about her intelligence, as you described, she does have something of a superiority complex. She is also prone to do this:

Melodia (pre-fall) would have been the class flirt, passing notes and trying to score dates with anyone she could.

Mel: "Oh...you were fun to date for a while but I've moved on."

Boy/Girl: "It's only been a week since we started dating!?"

As for school? A private school because she would love the uniform but only to wear improperly. :P

Graeham would likely attend some sort of sport's academy. He'd be a very driven student who wouldn't neglect his studies. Given his friendly personality he'd likely be fairly popular too - and he'd be spending a lot of his time swimming, fishing, running and climbing to maintain his physique.

Since he's very well spoken he'd perform quite well in regards to literature based studies too - but he's terrible with numbers and so math would confuse and frustrate him. Potentially to the point where he may offer to pose shirtless for whoever helped him with his math homework...

He's gotten less rebellious with age (though he still has a problem with authority) but Eddard definitely would have been a trouble maker in class. He'd be that kid that smokes cigarettes in the bathroom. He'd probably get in the occasional fight though it'd be to protect someone else from some bully or the like instead of one that he instigated himself. He wouldn't be the most popular kid but he wouldn't care either. He'd just try and pass (if just barely) while making things exciting every now and then.

Nebula already spent IC time as a student. As a Witch in Training she was sent out to learn various forms of magic, and joined the FC USH IC for that. She has since gained her fairy and progressed to practicing Witch. Her next quest is to seek out an ancient witch to teach her high order witchcraft, and so is venturing to Ishgard and beyond in search of the lost library.

Also for how I imagined it, just take a look at Little Witch Academia

And a +1 to you for mentioning what is possibly my favorite anime! That's also how I envisioned Cecilia's school days in Sharlayan!

Eses'd be the quirky class pervert who sneaks looks up the other's skirts whenever possible, though can't handle her own composure when her poor advances are reciprocated.

Her grades would be abysmal in all but shop class, art and literature, to which only a rare few would catch a glimpse of astounding profoundness right before she decides to pull down someone's trousers, take a picture and bolt off whilst giggling like a maniac.

Glazwyb would probably be an average student in terms of grades, but only just barely. Being stubborn would cause her to probably refuse help from anyone trying to help her pick up her grades, and because of her rough appearance she'd fall into the group of people that like to extort and pick on others.

To any of Glaz's friends it would seem she hates her situation, but she'd probably be pleased with it, as she likes feeling in power. I could see a lot of detention and yelling at teachers in her school days.

I answer this way every time this comes up, but Virara would be a delinquent boss. You know, the sukeban look, with the long skirts and allergy mask covering her face so she's hard for witnesses to identify. She'd have few friends, but other tiny terrors would flock to her gang for protection, though Virara's doesn't do much leading. There would be a part of the scool nobody visits on lunch break that's controlled by her gang, like a storage shed or behind the gym. They'd occasionally mug others and rider around on bikes, and some might have been to juvie. Despite all of this, Virara would love and fear her mother, and be surprisingly interested in home ec. Maybe she's not so bad...

Edda would most certainly be The Valedictorian. You know the type, the one that the rest of the class can't imagine having a life outside of school. She gets dropped off and picked up every day in a fancy car, and rumor has it her family owns the school building itself. With that aura of near-perfection, she is rarely approached by anyone. Eats by herself at lunch, never speaks up more than necessary in class, never talks to anyone outside of group projects and sharing notes. Everyone knows who she is, yet no one knows her name. People would gossip about the infuriating ice queen perfectionist, then turn around and ask "who?" during her speech at graduation. No one would keep in contact with her after the fact, and neither would she. However, she would show up at class reunions, leading to some awkward two minute conversations.

Despite all that, at least a few choice classmates would remember her for her pathetic "performances" in PE...

Roen would be that girl who stares out the window during history lessons daydreaming. She is not a troublemaker though, and would immediately apologize if caught or asked a question that she obviously did not know the answers to since she wasn't paying attention. Book oriented studies and things that requires rote memorization, she gets bored easily, her thoughts wandering elsewhere.

She is very good at athletics, and anything that requires coordination. Sports, dancing, drawing... name it she is all over it! Also quite competitive in those things she is good at.

Roen would be either the bane or a favorite of her philosophy teacher though since she is opinionated and would be open to discussing anything. Her grades are average, good in some subjects, not so great in others.

As for friends, she is not the popular girl; she likely has some geeky friends, and she wears loose, comfortable clothing. Kind of a straight arrow though, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink nor do drugs. She also doesn't act cute or feminine around boys, so others might mistake her for not liking them at all when in truth, she is kind of awkward about that.

Oscare would definitely be the quiet kid in the class. He doesn't talk unless he's responding to someone else, and doesn't make an active effort to volunteer. Not because he's shy or anything, but just because he's reserved. He'd be very smart kid though, easily someone who could graduate top ten in the class. Unfortunately he would just barely get there because of his low attention span. Spending extended periods of time reading off books or doing the same kind of work for hours and hours, or even days upon days, starts to bore him and he eventually finds other things to do. I could also imagine him being a very helpful student, helping and tutoring classmates if they were stuck on a problem or if they had a hard time understanding the text in English class. Heck, he'd even break out of his shell to do it on the board for the sake of one student.

Oscare's favorite subjects would be things like science, where there's always something new to discover and learn, and its abstract. Photography would probably be his all time favorite subject though. He like capturing the moments, or spreading the beauty of nature or of other people. Yearbook is where'd he be most of the time, and maybe even move up to major in journalism or other photographic careers in college. The nature has always interested him too, so he'd probably be invested in things like wild life prevention, fisheries, parks, etc. Music and learning other languages interest him too.

Oscare would hate English class. Too much reading. Art is boring. Feels neutral about mathematics -- it's not too bad. Sports and athleticism/gym is too easy and boring, he works out on a daily basis, not many match up to him. He's always picked first, which he always thought is lame and a little mean. History is boring too. Heck, most social sciences are boring according to him. Technology can be cool. Keyword is can.

Wut I Picteur in mah hed.

Ta as student is a rather misunderstood brute. She's one of those girls that doesn't take shit and makes it her days work at school to stomp on bullies. Because of her boyish mannerisms she gets talked about by the mean girls behind her back, although a bit less after she places a gossiper through a glass window or through a lunchtable. Generally most boys will be too afraid to ask her out and the one guy she has a crush on is dating the most popular girl. She saves you from getting jumped by four other guys but did it cause one of em stole her sandwiches hand brought for lunch.

She tests at AP level, but given her pissy attitude and overall grades there is evidence something is wrong at home. Teachers try to get her enthusiastic about school but it's hard to reach out to her, Vice principal is eager to send the girl back to the metal detector schools she came from, Principal is too much of a bleed heart to make it so.

Ta takes a school bus to a halfway point where she takes the public bus home. Only an hour to study before she takes off to go work in the kitchen of a mom an pop deli store. The girl has gotta pay the bills because there's no one in her home but her and her drugged up aunt. She struggles but she makes due.

Coatleque would be that girl. You know the one I mean? Yeah, neither does anyone else. That one student who was always nice, friendly, kind of interesting but that was never seen after school anywhere. Who graduated with typical grades then dropped off the face of the earth.

When you look back in your class yearbook and find that one familiar face but you have no idea what her name was. That's her.

At the 30th year reunion, she's the most successful person in attendance as far as yearly salary and stable marriage goes. It's also the only reunion she attends before dropping back off the face of the earth.

Academically, Franz was that kid who never seemed to apply himself. He tested into honors and AP classes so he was scheduled in them. That kid who would take the B in a class if it meant he wouldn't have to work harder to get an A. He'd be ok for group projects, doing his part, but unless prompted, he wouldn't be actively giving ideas or doing any more than needed. If he managed to find interest in a subject, Franz would probably end up putting in more effort. Maybe a math or science class here or there. He usually scored well in language classes that focussed more on the grammar than essays, citing that having to write multiple pages of prose "took too long". If it could be kept short and concise, his answer would usually be better.

During class, he'd be on fairly good behavior. Maybe an occasional chat here and there, or if the class started to get loud from other people being disruptive, he might turn his seat back to talk to people nearby. He wouldn't go out of his way to be called on to answer questions and his classwork was normally half-assed.

Socially, he might've had a few friends. Mostly casual. He'd be that person who was generally friendly, but never attended any parties and didn't really invite people over unless there was a group project to work on. Perhaps a bit bland. Every now and then, some overly-social people would probably take it upon themselves to make him feel included, but it was never really a priority. School was simply something to pass the time until he could go home.

Physically, he matured a lot during high school, probably growing almost a foot and a half (~45 cm for metric people). He went from fairly average-sized to someone who looked like he should have been on all the sports teams. But during PE? Completely useless. He could never really keep up with his size and was pretty awkward at most sports. More likely to stand around kicking the grass than to actually try to learn how to play. He only took PE if it was required at the school.

After graduation, he came to his first real struggle: what to do next? Eventually, he decided to join the military instead of trying to get into a good university or finding a job immediately.

Kasrjin is the transfer student who speaks in the thick Eastern European accent and is unexplainably stricken with a slight foreign odour every day. Popular on campus for literally no reason other than being a somewhat exotic presence and pronouncing words in amusing ways. Easygoing and generally willing to go along with anything that doesn't seem fatal, and he once got carried away from a school basketball game in a stretcher because he somehow managed to tase himself in the neck with two potatoes and a pair of crocodile clips. When asked to teach people how to swear in his native language, he inexplicably teaches other students the phrase "car horse stapler field" and variations of it.

Straight C+ student. Likes sleeping during power point presentations.

Aaron would be the guy who's school materials consist of headphones, chewing gum, his phone, and a psp or some other portable gaming system. And maybe a book bag to sell candy out of on the down low.

He'd never do his homework, and probably would barely pass every class because of his bare minimal take on life. And probably would be absent every time there's a math test.

His favorite class would be the 5 minutes you got to transition between classes before you get locked out.

Well at first she'd be that quiet shy new girl that tended to keep to herself and not really draw much attention (even going so far as to straighten her hair and keep it dyed brown, as it'd draw far less attention than a bush of red curls that never really want to cooperate), but was friendly enough... unless someone was being a bully and then she'd fly in and punch someone in the face. She'd do well enough in classes, or at least on tests even if it seemed like she wasn't paying much attention in class or sleeping, but be really bad at getting homework done and like halfway through a semester just stop bothering with it.

Over time she'd start to be more comfortable with people and give less of a shit if people like her or not. She'd even stop dying and brushing out her hair. Eventually even being brash, loud, and flirty, even if she's feeling insecure and shy because hey, fake it until you make it. Still be friendly. Would eventually stop caring about classes in general unless it was a subject she had an interest in and then she may even be assed to do homework enough to maintain a good grade. She'd skip class a lot though for subjects she found boring or hated. Mostly she'd do well in gym/sports and even take weight lifting.

By the end she'd be like a mix of the school tease and a lowkey friendly jockey type that'd likely get along with everyone unless you were an outright ass to other people around and then she'd fly in and punch you in the face or bully you. She's probably pick on the snotty snobs and nerds as well just for fun and "hell they're assholes anyways so it's karma or whatever".

Dheina would be in special ed and have a lot of difficulty with classes (especially because of her dyslexia), even though she'd try as hard as she could... Even besides the dificulty reading she's not stupid, but she's not too smart either... she's just.... slow.

She'd be excited whenever she managed to do well on tests and probably talk someone's ear off about something she learned and found neat.

She's also one of those people that are obsessed with cute, pink, glittery, and flowery things, but also be kind of childish and sensitive. She's not like the type of cutesy-obsessed person that's grossed out easily by dirty things or bugs or anything like that and actually a lot of things that "girly" types are stereotypically thought of as hating or being afraid of doesnt bother her at all unless it's something that can actually be dangerous... she would be upset though if something pretty of hers ended up ruined. She'd very likely end up being a target for bullies just because crybaby "precious cinnamon roll", or she could come across as being similar to the annoying little sister type of person. That and often enough she'd smell like a farm (which personally I don't mind and can enjoy, but I also grew up in an area with a lot of farms with cows, horses, and chickens), whenever she didn't smell like she rolled around in a flowerpatch. Would thive in botany and health/care-related classes, but would hate sex ed. Probably do pretty badly in gym except for anything gymnastics or swimming related, even if she fell on her face a lot and mostly just wanted to paddle around in the water because she likes being in it. Would be amazing at dodgeball and track just because of how flexible and fast she was, but unless there was someone else with her at the end of the game throwing balls back at the other team she'd likely eventually lose just from being ganged up on (and oh god, those versions where the winning team gets to move closer and closer over time), or the teacher would just have to call it because it's taking forever and it's clear she's not really going to throw anything back and is just going to run away/dodge so the other team may as well just be called the winners. Throwing arm is horrible. Baseball she'd just strike out all the time because "oh no painfully hard thing being thrown at me don't hurt me D;" and just cringe anytime someone pitched or the thing came flying at her when out in the field.

Sam wouldn't really be too noticeable at first. Mostly blends in even after more people got to know them. They'd get along well enough with most people but doesn't make much of an effort with making friends either. Any friends they'd have just kind of happened and they're ok with it, though they'd probably not do much with most of them outside of school. Decent enough grades for most subjects but just be about average due to sometimes just forgetting to do homework often enough, but what they did turn in plus doing well on tests would be enough at least to keep from failing or getting D's... most times. Pretty lowkey and friendly enough overall, but would have issues with teachers often enough too if they didn't agree with a view of theirs or felt something with a subject was wrong. Questions authority too much to just go along with anything they said and would get pissed off about those types of teachers that have the attitude of "I don't care if I'm wrong I'm the teacher and in charge, don't question me". Gets mad at those in power who are unfair or abuse their positions. Bullies would also quickly learn not to mess with them because even if they were chill enough with most their peergroup they have a short fuse as well and has little problem with physically fighting back, and fighting dirty. Interest in various martial arts and taking lessons just adds to the ass kicking. Wouldn't be one to really start fights with people but sure as hell not shy about slamming someone's head into the floor if they started shit with them or others around them that were being bullied. Very opinionated but mostly just sighs and silently fumes over people being stupid or saying stupid things.... mostly.

Armimi is a goddamn nerd and strive to get A's and get annoyed about any B's. She's the type to even try to find ways to bring her grades up if they're "falling behind" or harass the teacher about redoing an assignment to try to get a better grade. Would love science classes in general and do decently enough in gym despite being short and kind of chubby/stocky, but would try to get out of gym whenever she could, especially for shit like basketball or volleyball.... or really anything that'd involve things flying at her... or a lot of running. Wouldn't have much interest in making friends, just in learning science shit. If she made fellow science nerd friends then cool someone to geek out with, but otherwise eh all good on her own or at home buried in books or a little makeshift lab or greenhouse. Would be surprisingly strong for being a short little nerd and would probably get in trouble more than once for getting in fights for people starting shit with her.

Cardea is that weird effeminate boy that openly wore heels, skinny jeans, and showy/feminine clothes that purposely would likely make people uncomfortable while still managing to be "school appropriate" and give no shits if people had issues with him. Probably get picked on by the other boys but wouldn't be afraid to stab a bitch and eventually people would probably be terrified of him because good god is he a creepy twisted little shit that will probably find a way to poison you or get you put in the hospital because they stabbed you in the kidney and somehow managed to make it look like an accident. Be somewhat of a kiss ass to teachers and act like yeah he's a strange one but sensitive and "harmless", but even for them would try to find sneaky ways to screw them over if they pissed him off. Friendly enough with peers people for the most part if they don't start shit with him, especially if they didn't have any issues with how he presented. Probably hang out sometimes with those mean "popular" preppy girls, but would take no shit from them either and probably be "top bitch". Would absolutely love girls like Dheina and be protective of them. Any friend he'd manage to make would have an amazing ally that will fuck up someone for them in a sneaky underhanded way and make it look like an accident or manage to get away with it just because they likely couldn't prove it was them and they may play in to discrimination because of how he liked to dress. Later on as they where nearly done with school would start actively transitioning to look more female and want people to use female pronouns instead, though would likely not have surgery until later because "Well don't particularly have an issue with my bits... course not really attached to it either. Suppose I'll figure it out later. But hey, check out my amazing tits. Sweet right? It's ok to be a bit jealous"

Samhain would be that problematic wild child punk girl that was always starting fights (especially with boys) and causing problems in class if she was bored. Would have way too much fun bullying people. Loves Halloween just a little too much and her malicious pranks would just increase tenfold because "hey it's the season, suck it up you fuckin' babies. You wanna go? I will beat your face in with a pipe. Yeah didn't think so"

She'd be particularly brutal in fights and no problems cracking heads of breaking arms. Most likely would end up juvie or expelled. Later in life, granted she wasn't in jail for killing someone or seriously messing them up, would end up in some kind of career that allowed her to fight others and get paid to fuck people up. If not some kind of sport than something illegal.

Friends? Probably not unless it was with other asshole delinquent types. Not those gangster wannabe badasses. She doesn't have patience for those people and makes a point to beat the shit out of them because oh they wanna be hardcore but they run away from fights and just a bunch of shits that wanna seem tough but can't actually handle shit. If she's being friendly to someone she usually wouldn't be she probably just wants something. Unfortunately hard to avoid giving her what she wants unless one didn't care if they got beaten up or have a friend than can back them up so she backs up. She doesn't mess with the other kids that she knows can fight back well enough, but if drawn in to a fight with them she wouldn't be afraid of trying to kill them by stabbing the shit out of them either if she can't get them to back off or they prove to be capable of doing a good amount of harm to her. She may try to avoid a physical confrontation if she can get away with leaving without looking weak to prevent harm to herself, but then plot ways she may be able to take out the threat. If her and Kal went to school together there'd be frequent fights and Samhain would probably try to avoid Kal if she could because Kal can be just as brutal with her fighting as Samhain, but has far more physical strength behind her hits. Samh would be more than happy to work with Kal in a gang or even work for her because she respects her strength and brutality when fighting, but Kal would much rather put herself between bullies and others, especially since she can defend herself and she finds it a "good" way to channel her violence and more questionable traits (Think of Kal being like Dexter. Can be a pretty nasty person themselves but goes after other nasty people to "make it acceptable".)

Ada would be the quiet person that stays in the back of the room and doesn't talk or raise their hand, and somehow manages to play for every sports team.

Oliwat would be the guy that skips school to go do the things that they were going to talk about in class that day, survive somehow, and then tells all his friends about it over the weekend.
