Teadrinker Posted November 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2015 Does this ever happen to anyone else? I just had a scene that was so sad I actually welled and teared up a few times. It's rare but I can think of...oh 3-4 occasions when it's happened. Usually loss or some kind or death. I just may be insane too. What about you guys? Link to comment
Virella Posted November 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 4, 2015 Not that often, but it happens! Happened a few time when Domri and Virella were going for one another's throats. I remember one time in particular it really exploded in terms of drama when Virella was being yet again be a xenophobic idiot, and things got flung to one another about their child what shouldn't had been said. Good story that though, even if I was sniffing behind my computer. Link to comment
Amielle Posted November 4, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 4, 2015 I consider RP successful if it makes me cry. I've been in floods of tears before during RP. If it makes you feel that much, then it must've been good, right? Link to comment
111 Posted November 4, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 4, 2015 I've legitimately cried in RP a lot. My characters get into lots of bad and good times. Cherish those tears haha, they don't come easy. Link to comment
Kimikimi Posted November 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 4, 2015 Shhh its not crying.... its just the onions.... *cries* Link to comment
Ha'uruh Nunh Posted November 4, 2015 Share #6 Posted November 4, 2015 More often than I care to admit. Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted November 4, 2015 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2015 very rarely, but i've had it happen too. last time was a few months ago (at an event of all places...) but i wanna say it's been years since a time before that. Link to comment
No Longer Exists Posted November 4, 2015 Share #8 Posted November 4, 2015 Pft, there's no crying in RP. Geez. It's uh....dust, yanno? From the graphics card fan. Y-yeah, that's it. Dust. -Hatter Link to comment
Berrod Armstrong Posted November 4, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2015 I've played a lot of sad scenes, but none of them have really brought me to tears. That's fine; it's really tough to make me cry for fiction anyway (The post-vault scene doesn't count damnit, I was running on zero sleep and VULNERABLE!). My RP partners and I -DO- yap about it in skype and stuff though...and yell at each other... Link to comment
Dravus Posted November 4, 2015 Share #10 Posted November 4, 2015 I've never cried over something that's happened in role-play but I have been left emotionally drained after some very intense scenes, especially those involving the sudden death of a character or an unexpected betrayal. I actually really like tragedy in my role-play though. Not all the time, of course, but it's not something I shy away from. 1 Link to comment
Melodia Posted November 4, 2015 Share #11 Posted November 4, 2015 When Melodia had her memories gone and she was being pieced back together mentally and emotionally by Nebbs, that scene made me cry because it was hard to look at Melodia's past and present in terms of loss and abandonment and loneliness. That was one where crying was unavoidable for me. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted November 4, 2015 Share #13 Posted November 4, 2015 I am the one who chops. Link to comment
Ventus Zeruel Posted November 4, 2015 Share #14 Posted November 4, 2015 I am the one who chops. You bastard I knew it! Haha but yeah I get tons of feels when I rp. During scenes of romance or tragedy really it all depends. Though I can be an emotional person. It's just like crying at a movie or while reading a book. You're invested in the characters and actually feel for them so of course you'd cry. Link to comment
Scaraphae Posted November 4, 2015 Share #15 Posted November 4, 2015 Yes. I've laughed, cried and cackled like a lunatic. Sometimes all at once. Link to comment
Larson Posted November 4, 2015 Share #17 Posted November 4, 2015 I've played a lot of sad scenes, but none of them have really brought me to tears. That's fine; it's really tough to make me cry for fiction anyway (The post-vault scene doesn't count damnit, I was running on zero sleep and VULNERABLE!). My RP partners and I -DO- yap about it in skype and stuff though...and yell at each other... The trailer for 3.1 made me cry. That .5 second view of Aymeric might as well have been my future husband getting hit by a truck tire. 1 Link to comment
Kage Posted November 4, 2015 Share #18 Posted November 4, 2015 I'm pretty hypersensitive to tears. If it can be considered sad, touching... emotional? Fuck, cry me a river I'll be tearing up and trying to hide the fact that I'm leaking tears. /wipes tears It's been a sort of a running joke that one of my favorite moments in RP has been one where I was teared up for like 3 hours. The RP lasted about 4 hours and I was emotionally wrecked when it slowed down and I had to go "I need to shower or else I'll be a mess tomorrow at work in 4 hours" I worked with only a couple of hours that day but the scene is really one of my favorites. Or that 2nd time Kage thought he'd never speak to Roen again and said his goodbyes. ... there's a theme to these. Link to comment
Rosekitten Posted November 4, 2015 Share #19 Posted November 4, 2015 I've stumbled on a few things in rp that I've found myself bawling to. Then my husband looks at me like I'm retarded. >__> Trying to explain why I'm cracking up at something or crying to someone who doesn't rp is a task and a half.. damned mood killers. Link to comment
SessionZero Posted November 4, 2015 Share #20 Posted November 4, 2015 Can't say I've ever been brought to tears, but that's probably just because my soul is a fossilized rock shrouded in darkness and puppy bloodI'm not a very cry-y person. That isn't to say I've never been moved by a particularly mushy or dramatic RP, though. Link to comment
DeletedUser Posted November 4, 2015 Share #21 Posted November 4, 2015 Happens to me a lot, actually. My friends tease me for getting choked up so much from RP. Link to comment
Sylentmana Posted November 4, 2015 Share #22 Posted November 4, 2015 Not even once. I've never experienced any RP that made me want to cry. Most of the dramatic stuff just makes me want to roll my eyes. I don't really care for drama, especially when its drama for the sake of drama, which is how most RPers I've met have done it. Valde Posted November 4, 2015 Share #23 Posted November 4, 2015 I've only ever had one really emotional scene in RP that's had me legitimately cry. That was a difficult scene to RP, but it was probably one of the happiest emotional moments I've ever written. I would be lucky to get that sort of a touching interaction ever again. Link to comment
Val Posted November 4, 2015 Share #24 Posted November 4, 2015 There have been only a couple of times I can think of that I got very close, but none have actually made me cry. Like Berrod said, it tends to take a lot to make me actually cry anyway. Most movies and things fail to bring me to tears and my girlfriend calls me heartless :v But we do chat about it on Skype and talk about it after, and I do feel genuinely sad for the characters involved. Some of the things we put our little guys and ladies through are just awful Link to comment
Nebbs Posted November 4, 2015 Share #25 Posted November 4, 2015 Definitely yes, but then i cry at any old soppy film. This is one of the reasons I like deeper RP, and while I still like fun it is the complexity of things rather than just a feeling of surface play. Link to comment
