I rather enjoy it, since it helps make the healers seem more there and more people rather than just healing machines for the combatants. The event, while mostly about the fighters, also consists of those in charge, the healers, and the crowd. And if you still have to wait on another match to finish, what's the harm with being tended to by one of the healers?

We're always happy to have folks turn up to watch, and we're doubly/triply happy to have some extra healers on hand.

John should have the airships unlock today so I might have Kest get lost in the crowd and hop on John.  Maybe have him happen upon the lot and offer up to heal if the others are busy.  Then he 'fades' into the background as Kest appears to watch the next match.

Another night, another Grindstone in the books. I'm short of screenshots this week, but it was another barn-burner. We had 24 people ready to fight, and people were out at the 'Wash before 8PM! There was a ton of pre-game RP that included some very stern talking-tos and a spar between an overseer and last week's champion.

 

When all was said and done, though, we crowned a new champion in Sigrid "The Unspeakable Last Name" Jerriksdottir and took another 50k bite out of that delicious 1,000,000 gil pot.

 

Though, something interesting happened during the event...

And in the background is John with his familar, Kit, healing Cele's wound.  It gave him some 'Real World' experience with dealing with battle field wounds.  But the poor guy was so tired he fell asleep on his feet while waiting to give his good-bye to Warren.

He was trying to figure out what his dad had gotten him into here and Kit is looking at her master like he has gone nuts.  I'm also including a shot of Tanya, John's sister that he mention at the Grindstone to a couple of people.

 

(The shot is a 2.0 but the outfit would have been what she was wearing when she told her family that she would be helping at the Battle of Carteneau, though she isn't a WHM, and one of the last memories of his sister before she was killed at the battle.  Not sure how to put this under spoiler.)

Another week, anothe-

 

LOOK I KNOW I ALWAYS SAY THAT.

 

It was a "quiet" night at the Grindstone tonight as 14 of the best and brightest fighters in Eorzea took on one another for the rights to brag about winning the Grindstone! I wrote Grindstone twice in one sentence and should stop doing these posts before sleeping!

 

It was another mix of new and old faces, and after tonight I've documented nearly 60 unique fights since I started taking notes last month.

 

It was another nailbiter of a conclusion, too, as Celestus Shinozaki returned to the final round for the second week in a row to take on our resident lore nerd Sounsyy Mirke! Sadly for Sounsyy, the dice decided last week's loss was a fluke and Celestus was crowned our weekly champion after a very tense series of traded defenses with the score tired at 2.

 

The match ended with Celestus the winner, but Mirke's sword was buried deep in her side. Both fighters really went above and beyond to bring one another down. And so ends another chapter in Eorzea's longest-running weekly event!

Sounsyy made it past the second round for the first time! Grindstone history was made tonight even if she didn't win.

It was bloody final match between the two of you! I'm sure next week things will be in your favor Mirke!

I'll try to make it to the next one, damn. I've been losing myself in the Zodiac weapon grind and just want to get that done (Seven.. More.. Alexandrites..). So Celestus was lucky that Sigrid was preoccupied this time.
