Nebbs

When doing the creation of a character, early on I generally write some future scenes like when they are really old reading stories of adventure to there great great grandchildren or something. This is not set in stone but it helps me with direction to some degree, and lets me also get in touch more with those descendants.

At this point, it's something that's going to happen. It's really easy to say you want it all focused on one server... when it's YOUR server. lol The entire point of this is trying to find an alternative since Balmung is locked. It isn't an option. Suggesting we should all stick to Balmung is akin to someone suggesting that a solution to a poor budget is just make more money. It isn't realistic. The best option is to properly balance your budget. We can't force SE to do anything about the servers. We can ask. We can scream and stamp our feet, but we have no control. THIS we do control. At least somewhat. Quite right. Balmung is stuck, there will be no new characters, no new alts, no new players. The only thing that can happen is people stop playing on it because they leave the game or transfer. Just think about that for a moment, no new players or characters. (well you could fantasia) While another server can attract all the new players and all the players that want to move. This server will grow as Balmung shrinks. The only hope Balmung can have is that they lift the block. Edit: I will be staying on Balmung due to RP connections and create an alt on the new server. If/when things change I will jump.

First I would suggest stepping back and considering your own way of RPing. The cause is probably there and I would do some reflection on how you can improve. We have all done this, it is part of growth (if we take the time to reflect). Remember you control the character and make the choices. Some things I would suggest: Look for RP in the interactions not the Action Try to enable and support others RP story, don't try to "fix it" Focus on your flaws rather than abilities Do have the character out of their deapth rather than the auto-win hero Progress slowly, savour the RP in the moments, it is not a race and there is no win As for your character, I feel he needs a breakdown and almost a reboot. Be the hero who lost his power and had to realise the hero is inside. Hope that helps, what is good is wanting to improve. I know I have bad habits I still fall back on from time to time.

An excellent idea! If people can agree on a number then that seems like the best course of action. The talk on Discord seems to be for the last new server in the list, as names are not yet available.

Hmm I think I have an old PaYG O2 SIM and account. Maybe I can join Priority on that and get me the stuff they messed up last time in the UK. EDIT - Update payg sim was invalid so they are sending me a new one I will then see if I can get the outfits from 02 priority, or if I have to load £10 onto the sim to be eligible

I would look at how you can engage with the other RP server most are pointing to. This is likely to grow due to being the only option for new players, migration from others servers and anyone on Balmung that wants to make a new alt. If you think Balmung might ever opens up again I would also create several alts on this server. You then have the option to transfer over with a bunch of character slots active. Though I suspect by then you would be invested in the new RP server's community.

All the time. My witch's familiar (a fairy) is given different aether forms. But also as active things in plots. walking/talking vegetables and vegetation goblin possessed dolly spirits of nature, evil, fire, etc.. animals cat/dog/bat/crab etc.. as far as your imagination will go

I can understand why Witch is not on the list but Pirate, that's even a thing in the game Nebula - Witch/Pirate Hangouts - Limsa ofc

Too long to read all the posts on what seems a half thought through proposal. 1. Physics and Latency - have one RP server per area, that would make sense. 2. Choice and diversity, thinking you (Balmung) are special and unique, then using that as a reason folks should come to you is a sign it is over I am wondering if there is some fear Balmung will dilute as folks leave, but my view is that there is more than enough to support the NA population. The EU is likely the group who will leave, and that will have zero impact on NA numbers.

There will be two new EU servers? I don't know their names. We can have a vote when we do know the names perhaps or pick server number 2? I suppose the question at the moment is how many would go, just from this survey there are potentially 59 people who want an EU server, and might transfer. So we may be looking at an RP population less than 30, which is not going to be enough to make it viable. I expect we could pick up more with the expansion and hope for maybe 100?

Note from the LS creator: I have been moaning to myself about wanting more RP in the EU time zone, and have heard similar from others. Thinking we have the power to do something about this I decided to throw this LS into the mix and see if there are enough people willing to make a difference. I am in (and have been in) LSs that cover the EU but they tend to be social, unfocused and just "Yet another dead or general" LS. While that is a nice thing, I don't feel we need another one of those. My intent with this LS is to be focused on active RP, rather than just have a place to yammer and prattle and chatter. I also intend to make as many people who want it a LS leader, to make this an open place where the only reasons for excluding someone is: 1. Not actually focused on EU 2. Being disruptive, offensive (basically a d!ck) So here's hoping for EU RP!

If.. it were only open to transfers to start with (no new chars) it was an EU server you could take all your gil otherwise I'd probably just follow the crowd

Seems like the best option, really, unless SE responds to it before then (unlikely). Really? I'd rather someone who has some skin in the game, like a whole FC that is moving picks. Honestly I don't think this has anything to do with forum admin, and I'd rather not cause anyone a conflict of interest.

If this is just NA servers, please tag that in the Title. Ot if not please add an "Other" option.

I left AD when they created SWC server, but went back recently to realise all the RP had moved back to AD. I would expect something similar to happen in FFXIV as folks shift to alternative MMOs but then we would be looking a merging to a mega server maybe and another set of transfers.

Many other MMOs have more than one RP server - each with an active community. The idea that FFXIV - one of the more popular MMOs right now - could not support more than one RP server is simply not realistic. Right now few of the events or Free Companies on Balmung are suitable for EU-players anyway - so even if all the EU players moved off to another server (which isn't going to happen) it would not impact the NA players all that much. I would also add that as more players join FFXIV then the possibility of an alternative to Balmung becomes more real, as for them Balmung is not an option. In fact if the block remains Balmung can only reduce in numbers. So I feel it would be best to support the alternative, and by making this about the EU it has a better chance of reaching a workable RP size focused on the EU timezone. Additionally it would come with benefits like housing, which is not available on Balmung. Though I will say I am not going to jump unless there is a clear solidarity around a server, and would likely create an alt to see how it goes then move as/if it takes off. I also don't think this would harm Balmung, as there is sufficient number in the NA zone to more than sustain it. If I had two wishes for my play it would be: More EU RP (I have been actively focused on EU RP times and not NA) Housing to be fixed (just broken and wrong atm)

I'm in the camp that thinks we wont get enough folks to create a critical mass. Though it would be nice to have an EU server focused on EU times. Also I would have to consider the gil position as I would want to buy a house, that would be a big reason to switch for me. Aside from that we could have more focus on EU RP on Balmung. There are certainly enough of us.

I'll be blunt - Balmung It has a huge RP population, even the EU crowed is big. Create a full set of alt slots and transfer over, one payment will move all your chars. Ignore that it says you can't, it will let you. You can't create chars on Balmung 99% of the time
