You need to add the page to the category "Player Characters", you do that by hitting edit and then scrolling down to the bottom of your wiki code stuff and then add [[Category: Player Character]] on a new line. Should add you to the list ETA: Mercenary beat me to it ; ; One day I'll be fast enough, one day!

In addition to what the others have said - Remember it's okay to start small. 5-6 people is more than enough to craft some engaging plot, and what I find is that when you do good roleplay people will be allured to that. I can't stress how much explosive growth - taking in 5-10 people over a short span of time - can be more harmful than good. Bring your people to public events as well as public RP locations - having a weekly or bi-weekly meetup at for example one of the bars around (not just the quicksand, also places like the coffer and coffin) isn't just good for your social RP, it also means other people can spot you and engage with you. Don't just get tied to a house or an apartment (if you have either).

I can confirm this worked for me as well. Though I do begrudge having to use extra software to play a game

It seems to be a general but selective problems. Some people (including me) can't log in, or was dc'ed some hours ago and can't look back in. They mentioned they had some problems with ISP's a little while ago, so it may be related. Seems like the problem isn't just balmung specific either. You can follow along in multiple threads on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/new/

Maril is both a healer and an alchemist, so I have a feeling they might just get along. Feel free to HMU anytime -
Welcome aboard! As for levels, it's not my experience that people really put any emphasis on levels. Level 15 is good to reach for a start since you can then take the airships to the three ARR city states (so not Ishgard) and that gives you more possibilities in terms of where to be. There's quite a lot of glamour items at level 1 (you don't have to glamour them, the glamour system just lets your pve gear look the way you want it to), as well as the usual gear can be mixed and matched into things (You can also get gear from the Grand Company you pick) that look decent. Some of them cost a fortune and others are cheap - it may be worth it to save up some gil for the right things. Alternatively feel free to shoot me a /tell in-game, I can craft pretty much everything so I might be able to help you out. Have fun o/

How I see it (I have a keeper alt that's into guys as well), is that for a Keeper it would very likely be shunned, because as you mention they are expected to be devoting time and effort into providing as many children for their clan as they can. What had mine going off on another trail is that he has a non-traditional upbringing, raised in Ul'dah after his mother made a break away from her roots to seek the larger cities and a more glamorous life. So in that he did not really know of his cultural roots, and certainly isn't finding them to be ones he'd want to live by. Still, the family he still speaks with regularly (siblings) heckle him - albeit not with scorn, more endless teasing and stern talking - about putting children into the world. If the rest of his sub-clan were alive/if he was speaking to them, it'd probably be a lot worse. For a more traditional keeper I would imagine it would be in their clear interest to keep things low-key. As for seekers, their burden is also one to set children into the world once they take the mantle of Nunh - so there's a similar problem here, in that if they're not interested in doing that they would probably not be a Nunh at all. As far as I understand, Seeker Nunhs have to convince their females to stick with him which is largely done by proven the stronger one - for better and stronger offspring. They might be fine with just being a Tia for life, and if that is accepted by their tribe or not - I reckon that is a thing the individual tribe might determine, as there are things that suggest the tribes are culturally very different. For a seeker I don't think the internal strife would be as bad as that of a keeper. As for cross-clan romance, I believe that is a widespread taboo, with mixed-children in Seeker Tribes being rejected/cast out if discovered and such. The less traditional your Miqo'te and their family is the more open they might be to something like that.

Adventurers with 'Specialized Disciples' has a lore entry now.
Maril replied to Hyrist's topic in Lore Discussion
I'm glad they involved a page about it - even if it isn't all new and shiny information. For example with the soul crystal, it's nice to have a somewhat condensed explanation of what they precisely are and how they work (or don't work.) I don't really see it as a "get out of jail free card" to go and pick up just any job. For the same reasons I wouldn't have a character of mine inventing new magic - Not before it's a more established canon to pick a rediscovered up up (e.g warrior is easier to approach post-Heavensward). With BLM and WHM especially there's still the concerns of information being well guarded, soul crystal use, the fact that BLM is outlawed/illegal and succor for white mages. But it does give some claim to characters simply wishing to get to these tiers, without actually being there yet (like a long-time obession/passion) - and then eventually it might be a lot safer to actually reach as we get more lore with the expansions and patches to come. So overall no, it's not really going to change a whole lot - my characters will still think you crazy if you run around openly telling people you want to be the greatest blackmage eorzea ever saw. Not because I don't agree with it, but because I feel this is how that job is at large being perceived. -

The most popular RP server at the moment is Balmung. For a beginner, you should have a decent shot at finding yourself a group which can show you the ropes. As for keeping your gil, you will have to turn the gil you have beyond the transfer cap (which I do not remember what is at the moment) into items. Allagan pieces are a popular way of doing it because they vendor for a set price - But you should be aware that some people may try to sell these to you for way more than they are actually worth. Other than that, check what items are valueable on the server you are headed to - In Balmung's case, because creation is shut 24/7 you'd need to have a friend tell you the prices. You may be able to buy some items on your current server that is worth as much or could potentially turn you a profit once the transfer is complete. Also, do remember that you can transfer up to 8 characters in the same bout. They just all have to be 3 days (72 hours) old - So you may want to fill up your list before you pay up. Best of luck! o/

Welcome to the RPC o/ And to Balmung

Many updates have happened in the past few days, as we're now tallying an impressive amount of healers! I'm super excited to see the concept so well received. There's space for plenty more, healer and otherwise - Don't hesitate to reach out!

I'm getting it! But it's going to be in the roundabout way of having it shipped to my bf and then waiting for him to bring it over on the next visit becaaause: So just because I am in Denmark, my total price (book+shipping) comes to 80 EUR. Meanwhile getting it purchased and shipped to him is a total of 44 EUR just about. I don't know what it is about Denmark and getting things shipped - from what I have to presume is the other end of the world at that price - but it's really annoying, and one of the main reasons I've never bought anything off their store until now ._.

Whilst it isn't spelled out, and is totally in the vein of the unconfirmed, perhaps the people who are sat with this particular problem could mimic how PLD was/is split into the two groups of Sultansworn and Free Paladins. If Elite Dragoons are the stuff of legends then maybe someone could have been dedicated enough to try and mimic their moves and strive to be like the order without being officially recognized. It wouldn't be the hardest non-canon thing to swallow, unless there's something that alludes to the dragoon fighting style being a secret. And obviously as well, the power level of something like this solution wouldn't be anything to match an actual soulstoned-part-of-the-order dragoon, but they would be something a bit more than a lancer. Just a thought at least. Unfortunately this is what you end up risking when you place your characters within such organizations. Heck, any canon organisation can end up being hit by specifics at some point, especially as more and more people take interest in the lore and ask such specific questions. One would have to keep this in mind when implementing it in their characters, and it'd be healthy to have a back-up for if they do come out with a damning number.

When they say that common doman-hyur's tongue stands out as slightly odd dialect, I can't help but think of the difference between the Scandinavian languages - Norwegian, Danish and Swedish. Danes like to refer to Norwegian as "Danish with spelling errors" and with both languages it is generally possible to have a conversation, even though we're all only versed in our own languages. So what you might come across is a bunch of words that you understand but have a dialect (The swedish likes to say Danish sounds like we're trying to speak with a potato in our mouth) to them, mixed with words that have been adapted into their own thing. Personally I think if we assume that if the standard eorzean/hyur tongue is English then going full on doman-is-japaneese is taking it too far, rather I would see it more as the bulk of it is understandable both ways, but with some words that have evolved into being their own thing - which may then need some additional explaining or translating. And then I would probably also guestimate that their spelling deviates most of all, since even in Eorzea illiteracy is (supposedly) a common problem and there have been mentions of big changes to the given grammatical rules per region because there's no real unified consensus on how to apply grammatical rules.

Confusion on Keeper of the Moon naming conventions
Maril replied to Valence's topic in Lore Discussion
It could be a translation error, or at least I could definitely see how a translation error could happen with it. Though, I guess it could also be that they have retconned it, to put a greater emphasis on the fact that the name is passed down from the mother. What it just completely misses out on, if we assume the latter is correct, is where the names like Relahna etc fit into the female name. If their name is only meant to be a homage to their mother and not a name passed down from a mother (presumably) many years ago, which I think was/is the origin of those names. Unless they really mean for those to be thought of as first names and not surnames, but then why does keeper men have the option to have them? Surely we're not out in a (Mother's First Name)'(number of male) (Also mothers first name) situation. -
"Is what I am about to introduce going to be entirely unseen, unheard of and super consequential to the world I am roleplaying in?'" Is what I try and ask myself when I find a greyzone, where there isn't really a whole lot of evidence that says something is possible but also not a whole lot of evidence that says it definitely isn't. I'm of the oldfashioned opinion that if something significantly and groundbreaking is to be introduced.. Say the invention of a car in Eorzea, it's not up to the roleplayers but rather the lore developers to implement. When it comes to magitek my main concern is always with ceruleum (and the availability of fuel in general), because it's (at least from what I have seen) been alluded to as being something that there's only one Ul'dahran based mining company that gets out of northern thanalan, and it seems to be if not rare then at least expensive (Not to mention the fact that it is also explosive "Yes hello I need the fire department, my toaster blew up my house"). So whilst something might be technically possible, it might not be practically viable unless you tie in connections/wealth. Crystals on the other hand appear to be everywhere, and readily available - so much so that they get put in potions like the Ether, which I figure would be widely used by Eorzea's aether proficient peoples. Overall I try to mix a little of the old and the new when it comes to commodities - perhaps instead of a toaster I'd go for an approach of a grill-pan thing over an open hearth, for fridges I've mixed the cooling power of crystals with the practice of salting all of your meat and also the fact that cellars tend to be naturally more cold so it makes sense to have a storage for such on the lower level of a house. Ovens are simply powered by coal, and there's probably some semblance of plumbing and also ways to lead smoke away from rooms.. So like some sort of ventilation that leads to the chimney? But this also reflects my tendency to play characters who aren't well off, so they would not be the types to get their hands on the latest new inventions and certainly wouldn't use something that costs a lot to keep running.
