  1. Denmark needs to get in on that, seriously. Where are we going to send all of this bacon? The bacon-industry is legitimately worried because they're already struggling, and the UK has been a huge importer of Danish bacon for many years. Should've been the remain campaigns slogan; "Save the bacon".

  5. Patch Notes for 4.0: * Highlander male model now has 4 different eyebrows to choose from. All existing Highlander males get a fantasia for free so they can have eyebrows. We're sorry.

  7. Brexit sounded fucking stupid and that didn't stop them. Other consequences: Scotland might be considering a second referendum. "Dexit" Ireland is reconsidering reunification too. That kind of sound like some new dental product. "Try Dexit, it'll make your caries exit!"
  8. Strange world to wake up to. I actually went to bed thinking that the remain side would catch up, but it wasn't so. For me it's going to complicate my long-distance-relationship, which I am not too happy about. There's also a lot of talk suggesting that this might cause Denmark to have a vote next. They just please shouldn't call it Danxit because that sounds stupid >. I made a silly picture for it:
  9. I sometimes take breaks from PvE for entire patches, but it's because I have a very.. Casual, mindset about it. I of course like to perform the best I am able to, but I don't really see a big need to rush for the best gear, min/maxing and all of that. So if for example I don't like the dungeon designs in a patch I likely wont do much of all. I should mention I don't touch raiding outside of the 24-mans which tend to be fairly easy to meet the requirements for. For me roleplay comes first, and second to that is crafting and gathering which I can make quite a lot of time disappear with. I'd consider it an endgame in it's own right. But as I see it, you can always play the game but you can't always find RP. Good to save some other things for a rainy day ^^
  10. Waaay back when I came across a similar problem. I love details in my roleplay, and I like to be able to estimate how much gil my character is (or isn't) running around with. I decided to check out every NPC in all of the major cities (this excludes Ishgard, which wasn't available then) and noted down prices of various items - especially food and drink. I tried to roughly estimate, based on the vendor value then how much would it cost to for example make a breakfast. I then tried to hold the number up against the US currency, and I tweaked it some after figuring out how many times one would eat per day if you were moderately well off, and also after talking with some people about how much income per month they'd regard as the bare minimum to survive on (in USD). After all of that, what I found was that 1 USD = Roughly 5 gil. Following that, every time I've sat prices for menus and various items, I have googled my way forth (since I have "feel" of the USD as being used to my own) to several US prices, picked an average and then converted it. I should mention that I am not particularly mathematically gifted, and there's probably ways to be more accurate. I don't think that there's a perfect way to figure it out, without a quote from the loreteam, because even with checking with NPC's you have to remember that the NPC items are adjusted for example to be crafting-items. So they say okay how much gil does a lowbie CUL have at level 5 - so and so, and then you end up with a 2gil egg. Which means "basic" items sold by npc's that are used in higher recipes would be more expensive - though, I have noticed that vendor-based items get phased out intensely after level 15. What I later on used with my old guild was the same conversion rate after some discussion, simply agreeing that within our group that'd be how it was understood. Otherwise, I just go along with whatever I am presented with - though I don't really like it too much when people use OOC gil because I have that sense that 1000 gil is kind of a big deal at least to someone like my main. So it doesn't really make sense (in that context) when someone then boasts that theyre earning 100k on a levequest, just to give an example. But adding to that, it's really rare that I see people use big big numbers, and more often than not it's formulated as "a heavy gilpouch" instead of being specific.
  11. Feel free to do Nailah! http://imgur.com/a/c4c90 - here's some references I had taken a while ago.
  12. Vagrant’s Rest is a new RP Hub-offer, open for RP for everyone. It is located at Ward 12, plot 1 in the Mists. I decided to post the thread in here since the house can provide a neutral basis through which people seeking connections in here can meet at, should anyone be in the need of a location. A mysterious benefactor (”M.B”) recently came upon an opportunity to do something good in the word: An abandoned house, doomed to fall into a state of disrepair until “M.B”’s intervention. With a boost of funds and a helping hand or two, the house is now opening up to those in need of shelter, be it temporary or longer term. The house operates with no staff, there are no locks on the door. The only wards against crime: The local patrolling guards in the mists, and trust among those who use the house. There are no rules, and no expectations. Anyone can come as they are. The house offers sleeping spaces, a spa, a small library, a study/planning area, a warm fireplace, cozy couches and a modest kitchen. This information will be readily available on the house’s placard, through word of mouth and through the odd poster on various noticeboards. In order to encourage use of the house, I’d like to highlight some hooks. I would love to see the house used by all sorts of people, and I’ll be frequenting it as well from time to time. Potential RP Hooks: * Vagrant, wanderer, homeless, poor, unfortunate, criminal soul needing a place to hide/rest/freshen up for any duration. * Helpful services/Volunteering: Cooking, delivering food/supplies, barber, healing/medical etc. * Organisations and Wealthy IndividualsTM are more than welcome to use Vagrant’s Rest as a target for charitable fundraisers, donations and suchlike. * “Inconspicuous” criminal-to-criminal meetings. * A place to meet new people. Pop in and see if anyone's there! Feel free to plan events involving the house, as long as the event can tolerate random people walking in! You don’t have to ask for my permission, the hub is open for use in the most broad of senses. Just try not to burn it down icly, that’d be a bit of a bother. If you have any requests or suggestions for the decor, let me know. You can see screenshots of the house here. Got any questions? Toss me a tell/ask/pm! Furthermore, feel free to use this thread for advertising any on-going open RP that might be happening in the house now or soon, so people know stuff is happening. You can also use the thread to post about your characters going-on's in regards to the house.
  13. Feel free to prod me for RP anytime Two of my characters are pretty easygoing and prone to hanging about Ul'dah talking to random people.
  14. lSqeMJazr0w A couple of very interesting details! A very interesting one is that he was asked "Is it possible to add an RP status icon?" To which he said "Yes, I hope the UI team is watching this!" which is basically him saying get to it. So, maybe in the near future we'll finally have a proper way to flag it up when we're IC somewhere Other things mentioned is that we're getting a /cpose for sleeping poses, and that 3.35 is less than a month away along with details & feedback about deep dungeon, housing and wiping city.

  16. You can be a heavy rp'er without being constantly IC. It's true that in the good old days, being always-IC was one of the big trademarks of heavy RP'ers, but that sort of stance doesn't always mesh well with the given settings/lore of MMORPG's. In FFXIV, there's a big complex with that there is only one Warrior of Light, so all of the quests you do as that person, it becomes hard to be IC through them (Not that there aren't people who try, mind) because you may end up meeting someone else who also claims to be the Warrior of Light. One of the other big marks of a heavy roleplayer is their lore adherence - so there would be a conflict of interest there. In the end there isn't any wrong or right, however I think that Eva did a very good job at explaining it in The Roleplay Handbook. What I would encourage though, if you want to pick a label for yourself (You don't have to!) is to be honest with yourself. If you feel like you're more light, there's no shame in saying that, it'll help you meet like-minded people. I think this is also why many people end up putting themselves as medium - a good flexible mix of the two ends.
  17. For those playing Cards against Humanity, I made a card-deck themed by ffxiv/rp. You can see it here (+instructions), but keep in mind that it's nsfw and not suited for minors. It's big enough to be played on it's own.
