I reckon that at least some of it would have to be copy/paste or timed. Chat-bug-gods be willing, and all. Otherwise it might take a long time - though it shouldn't be feeling boring either. I reckon preparing an excessive amount of information, then picking and going on the fly as the situations demand, maybe let people ask questions as well and such, might be a good approach.

Hello guys. I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in attending/helping with making a guided tour through (a part of) Eorzea. The concept is fairly straight forward, we'd pick 1-2 zones, or a city state all depending, and find a way of retelling the common history for the area and its locations, maybe combined with some folk-tales of a sort. So, much like you'd have city tours in the real world for tourists, just in Eorzea and a bit larger of scale + a bit more dangerous. The events could be a good idea of learning lore for newcomers, but I'd imagine it would attract characters with a general thirst for knowledge, as well as characters that simply enjoy walking about the world like that. If there's enough interest, I will need some help with amassing information. I know a lot of lore, but I never went in depth with each zone and even if I did, there'd probably still be something I missed. My character would be good as a tour guide, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to have more than one (also because I wont be able to run events during the US primetime).. So overall I would love to collaborate with some people on this. It's a bit of a mouthful to undertake alone ^^ There would likely be an IC cost involved with the tours, but I am not interested in seeing real gil involved. The IC cost is simply for flavors sake, just like you'd likely pay a tutor to teach you something in other situations. So anyways. Would you be interested in joining an event like this and if so which zones would you suggest for a tour?

Welcome! I really like your art, I'm with Warren on making a thread for it Gonna drop a link to the european directory here, since you're in one of our timezones Beyond listing a chunk of people, it also lists linkshells and free companies that operate in our prime-time either partially or fully, as well as upcoming and recurring events whenever I remember to update that Hope you'll have much fun here ^^

I'd encourage you to come along to the sunny seaside bar tomorrow. I've attended three of them and it's been rather casual with a bit of entertainment, very relaxing type RP in a space where people can spread out as well, so it's not so intense on the chatspam ^^ Nice environment for meeting new people. It's a bit early for some of the Americans but if you're around it might be some of what you're looking for

Double Launch-vet returning after a long hiatus

Welcome back! -
I do not know when exactly you established them, but weekly/monthly tavern nights have been a thing since before housing was ever implemented. I have personally been involved with some weekly stuff going on up at Bronze lake about a year ago, though in the EU prime-time - and the SW&R FC has run monthly stuff out of that little tavern by black brush I always forget what is called. KinRP did a spree of weekly tavern stuff following getting our house but we've decided not to uphold that because no one really attended them in the end. Overall I wouldn't exactly declare it a unique concept, seems common enough in other games as well. When it comes to big RP events, coming up with a thing that's unique is pretty hard, lots of things have been done before. Even KinRP has done a date auction like /way/ back, again no gil involved and it was woven into a greater beach party event of sorts with a couple of other elements. From guild and person to guild and person, it becomes more unique in execution cause everyone has their style of doing things. Not saying you stepped on my toes, but I thought I'd offer the stuff I've known about to occur ^^ What mostly matters to me is that there isn't 5x the same event by different people in a row.

The speed date event I ran a while back could be used for it on a smaller scale. I opted not to involve real gil in my round, but icly there was a flat "entrance fee" type of a deal where people bought a spot in the rounds, along with free drinks/food for the night. I can't remember what I placed it at, but for the purpose of fundraising I could imagine 5k per nose, and we were able to attract 20 people, so that would be 100k for one event. I'm not sure the event type would be sustainable as a weekly event, but for a now-and-again thing coupled with other money-making strategies it may be enough to get people to their goals. I think that it's great that people can fund their FC's through events, though I have noticed how date auctions especially can exclude newer players. Whilst paying 70-150k for a date might not be a lot to seasoned players, to a newbie that is a whole lot, and I haven't been to a date auction in recent time where prices didn't soar for 95% of the dates present. So for what it's worth I'd love to see more events where the amount of gil people toss in has a newbie friendly level as well. ETA: If people felt for it, I'm sure that one could arrange guided tours through Eorzea - for example to the various marks of the twelve. You could probably get away with charging a higher fee. Then it's just a matter of learning lots of local lore, maybe put together some folk tales and get some people savvy with protecting people to come along. It's something that would probably be appealing to the non-adventurous kind of character that relies on others rather than themselves for protection. Heck, it could even also be something like tourism tours in the city states.

Welcome! I hope you have a good time here.

I've tried to ask people to add some for mine, of those that my characters interact with, but it never really seems to work. I don't know if it's because they don't feel comfy with it or are not inspired or.. I have had a hard time thinking up my own as well, especially for Nailah, but I think I'll give it another go.

Current state of Ul'dah, post 2.55 (Spoilers obviously)
Maril replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
"Ah, my faithful assistant. Though the details have quite slipped my mind, I was told you were involved in some outrageous incident at the royal palace. Why waste your time on such frivolities, when you could be exploring the uncharted regions of advanced alchemy!? If any seek to interrupt your research, then you need merely douse the knave with the most suitable concoction at hand! Mwahaha! The practical application of results is at the heart of our dicipline!" - Severian, Alchemist guildmaster "Ah, Miss Quill. We meet again. ... Mayhap you wonder why I do not call for the Brass blades? Please. Your virtue is more intact than that of a maiden at the altar. So-- What brings you here today?" - Weaver guildmaster "Nailah! What in Thal's name are you doing here!? You're wanted by the Brass Blades! Look, all of us here at the guild will help you in whatever way we can But there's only so much we can do. Promise you'll lay low, alright?" - Adalberta, Miner GM "Nailah! Are the rumors true? Are you the victim of a vast conspiracy!? Oh dear, I probably shouldn't speak so loudly... I've given thought to how we might distract your pursuers. Perhaps a mammet fashion in your image which nods at regular intervals? No? Hmmm... I was rather proud of that idea... " - Serendipity, Goldsmith GM The last one, beyond being useful for rumors, made me laugh It seems there's some knowledge going about among the GM's of the crafter guilds. I spoke to the THM guild as well but there was no reaction there. Based on this I'd be inclined to believe those of a higher social status might have a better clue that something is definitely up since GM's are pretty influential and that. However it could very well be that they would not speak of this to any other than the hero of light. There are similar reaction with any craft or gather GM in the other city states, though these are a bit more muted and not so detailed. -
I came across this on the great interwebs: LpNhCOiag9E Cuteness overload. I so want an otter D:

As I understood it, the way the events went down it would not have been impossible for someone to notice that something was up, and we do have some hints at that the masses ruffled by the news of the Sultana's death. But that said, I would imagine that is all the masses would be told - that she is dead, and from there on I would presume that most of the long-time citizens of Ul'dah would be able to figure out that the Syndicate would have the most power now. I heavily doubt the regular citizens category that my characters belong to would catch any wind of it being a murder, who might be behind it and all that happened at the celebration. So how it'll likely affect me (and my FC), is that eventually (not for a while yet because spoilers) we'll find out that the sultanate is dead. Nailah would likely pin up a note about it in their house, and then otherwise talk to people about it. I can imagine she might encourage people to be more careful of what they talk about whilst in Ul'dah, and especially saying anything bad about the syndicate (Since they seem to have a habit of killing people left right and center). She herself would be more careful about going there in general, but she wouldn't change her habits as per se. In terms of the Coerthas situation, when news breaks that the war on the dragons have reached there, Nailah is likely to let her people know to be careful when taking jobs and generally going to the area, encouraging them to let her know and then also keep in touch so that she might know to send a search party if contact doesn't get kept. Things in that line of thinking. And for what it's worth, she'd personally stay the heck away from the place. Dragonfighting is not for her.

[SPOILERS not hidden in SPOILERS] 2.55 Before the Fall Part 2
Maril replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
See, I never liked him... He always struck me as a suspicious person, and I was justified in my suspicions! He may or may not have been a favorite due to me being partial to good looking highlanders *cough* In hindsight, I can see the suspicious signs. Pipin the Lalafell is quickly stepping in to take his place as a favorite though, he has the /best/ voice ever and he looks awesome. -

I feel absolutely dead inside. I just. Can't even. Illberd was my favorite. I have however always disliked Urianger. I knew that pompous son of a knife-ears' up-to level was at "no good" I suppose he could still turn out good but.. for now. Grr. I hope the crystal braves person with the eyepatch (im terrible with names) is going to come through alright though. -
Banned because I had to be the one to sit back in the office for emergency calls during a fire drill. Banned because I have two more days to work this week! Kishi is banned for letting the ban chain continue. Soalean is banned for not wanting to continue the ban chain! Banned because and that's why!

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Maril replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
The funny thing is that I managed to get it on second try because people realised that you needed to aim the dragonkiller properly. Cannons the adds. Anyone not on cannons dps the boss. When heading towards a tower, one dps moves to top. When dragon is in Line of Sight for the dragonkiller, on the tower, aim at the body. Ensue snares. Dps more. Rinse and repeat. If done properly you won't hit the last barrier. The way we did it was that we had the dragon walk over the orange spot and someone would shout fire, upon when the person in the tower would push the lever. But it only knocked 10% health off per time it hit - How exactly do you go about aiming it? -
Banned for breaking the quote chain! The chain must prevail!
