[EU-Friendly] Mid-Moon Meanders Market Meet-up (TIME UPDATE)
Maril replied to Maril's topic in Chronicled Events
Yep! It wont ever bee too late to pop your head by - It just helps me when I have something to go by for the planning -
Yeeees! I'm still waiting for the lore, but as soon as we learn about it, maybe people could start plotting some background stories together. (EU players, are you willing? ;_; ) Definitely! To both you and Aris, I'm sure we can make something work when the lore comes out

That's pretty reasonable, haha. I admit I was tempted to get a character to the point where they join a GC just so I can skip the chocobo-less period(because some genius had the idea to lock out mounts altogether even on alts T-T My double mount has even less meaning like this @@) Yeah, this will be my third character to 50 - it's not exactly exciting but I was thinking that you'd probably need to be 50 to survive (or maybe even access) the expansion areas and I'm not sure it would make sense for my Au Ra to go to Eorzea straight away, all depending on what the lore is like. On top of my slow leveling speed, it would take me eons before I'd get started on it. I strategically picked bard as well since it usually gets some of the armor types/models that I prefer/thinks looks best.

Brand new character concept - Currently leveling a toon to 50 so pve-wise they'll start there after an ooc fantasia/rename. I'm very slow at leveling so I decided to do it this way ^^ Awaiting the lore as well - If I do not feel overly inspired, I might not RP on the character. Otherwise I'm hoping to start the character off with some family relations with other players, since everyone is making a lot of new characters it seems like a good time to get some relations going ^^

[EU-Friendly] Mid-Moon Meanders Market Meet-up (TIME UPDATE)

Not long now! I have updated the times for the event, as Daylight Savings has rolled into effect in the states but not here in the EU, putting you guys an hour more ahead than us until we catch up. -

Oh no RIP -
I just really don't understand where this interpretation comes from because it makes several assumptions that seem ridiculous in the grand scheme of things: A. The only Padjal in the entire land happen to be the five NPCs referenced in 2.0. B. If not that, then they all think the same like a series of clones even though they all come from differing backgrounds. C. This is the only way to do it. D. That the reliance on the so-called will of the elementals is actually something more than exaggeration and superstition. A lot of this obviously absurd imo, but what really settles it is the official site disagrees with it outright: Just wanted to say that I do not see what Tiergan said as an interpretation of the lore, it is pretty much what the story tells you when you read it through. S.E does a lot of single-player writing because that is what sells, people play games because they want to feel special in the story - Heck, even I enjoy the way that the MSQ is written. It sucks for us roleplayers because it puts some restrictions down on what is obtainable, but you can't really go in and say that's possible just because the restriction comes out of that origin. At the same time I find it very natural for any universe to have some things that aren't obtainable for everyone, it encourages people to think in alternatives - Conjurers are pretty strong as is. I do not see the need for any player to go out and single-handedly craft a way to make it possible - even if it might be, that's the responsibility of the lore-devs. As I mentioned earlier, it's a style-choice for each individual to make with what they want to go with. However, I think it's very healthy for anyone planning to play a whitemage to know that there's a sizeable chunk of the community that thinks otherwise and may end up not accepting it when their character gets told someone is a whitemage. Because of their choice in how they play by the lore, not because they want to be a meanypants. Understanding that not everyone thinks the same and accepting this is really important for any situation in RP, but especially this. I'm managing just fine to roleplay with people that have twists in their stories that my characters could never acknowledge, because these people accepted this and simply went "We wont ever tell them, then". That's my two gil on it anyways. Edit: Also, we might see some new twists in Heavensward as I presume they're going to explain if or not the Au Ra lands have conjurers, and if they do them how - since right now all conjurers are pretty much taught in the same place. If there has been a bunch of conjurers up there whilst the rest of us were busy not noticing that area of the world, they may have different twists to their practice as opposed to the way that stillglade fane does it.

There is a lot more wiggle room for things like paladins, warriors, and bards where the quests explicitly show many people getting taught a the job skills. (not sure what the monk quest is like, but if it's another "Person is trying to teach a bunch of students the lost art" deal then it can get included here too.) Summoner kind of has wiggle room too because its story quest references that a BUNCH of summoners have been hunted and killed at some point - which means you're definitely not the only one. (Not to mention the enemy you face off against is also a Summoner) For Monk, what I seem to remember is that there's a mention of several survivors who is out in the world teaching parts of the art, but that most of it was lost thanks to our all-time favorite king of ruin. So it is possible with the restriction that one won't ever become as strong as say, a fist of Rhalgr, because of the amount of stuff that's been lost. And in this, it would then not be possible to unlock all of the chakra gates, and those that one would manage to open is down to the self-discovery route. It's still a bit shaky for what it's worth, but I have seen it be done in good ways that didn't set fire to all of the lore at once - I guess the best way to look at it is simply as a pugilist with more insight because they may have been lucky to find someone who knew something. There's also a slight risk I'm remembering entirely wrong, I'll have to figure out the source of it.

Yeah it.. Sort of does. I can't speak for everyone, but a lot of people tend to regard the job stories as being just for one single adventurer, not all that do the quest. The loredev-person also commented on this during one of the fan fests last year. So, there's one special person who got to be a non-padjal-whitemage, one that got to be a blackmage.. Etc. With the exceptions being somewhere around Monk and Free Paladin. It's a matter of taste. There are people who view this differently, so as to be able to play white mages themselves or accept them walking about more I guess.
-
It is very rare, I believe most if not all white mages are Padjal, as in the wake of a war between black mages and white mages where the sons of man did so much bad stuff that they ushered in a new era, Elementals no longer believe that hyurs are worthy of Succor (which lead to the creation of these padjal)

What scares you away from a FC/Guild?
Maril replied to Branson Thorne's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I haven't been in the position of looking for an FC for about four years, going to be keeping an eye on this thread because you never know, might learn something - Kudos for making it. On the note of applications, I completely understand where you're coming from, it's one of the many reasons why we have chosen to have our website hosted on Enjin's network, so people can just use one account for it. Application is still mandatory and a vital link in our recruitment process though, out of experience it got too much to rely on IC interviews only for several reasons I wont go further into, since this isn't what the topic is about :3 -

Well, my character L'nessa is going to be moved to a new toon-slot with a namechange/fantasia x2 to make way for an Au Ra that I want to make, I've been levelling Nessa from 15-50 (almost there, 46 atm) over the past few months to make ready for it. Originally I was going to simply scrap her as a character as I never rp'ed on her much, but I have decided to simply move her over to one of my non-IC toon-slots. I have them all filled cause loltryingtorollanythingonbalmungnope. Other than that, based on the Reddit interview, my FC may have to move our bar "The Bottom" up from the basement.. and.. Probably rename it since it wont really make sense otherwise. This would happen if they do indeed place the workshop in the basement, I just can't really see how we'd be able to have the size of our bar intact when there's a presumably pretty big workshop that needs to be there too. We will have to work on a reason as to why we would eventually have an airship we'd be able to man (The interview mentions you can't man it until a later patch) though with being a trade company among other things, I don't think it'll be a big challenge - and it may more be a step up the company ladder for us. And obviously, we're following the happenings of Ul'dah with a keen eye as whatever happens there may lead to some consequences for us.

No one can stay away for too long.. Welcome back

Thank you so much for the replies everyone. This has lead me to wonder if the cold is around, to which I must ask, have you ever seen any NPC's sneeze? Goobues sneeze, so maybe they're infected by a kind of goobue cold?

I tend not to, unless I am very loyal to the game. I would probably do it in XIV because I can't foresee me leaving for a good while even if it does end up being a bucket full of crushed hopes and dreams. I'd never pre-order an entirely new game that I hadn't at least been in a beta or likewise for - but even that is becoming a paywall, these days. Otherwise, I tend to wait until the games eventually fall in price or go on sale when it's not a game I super duper want but would like to play sometime down the line.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing you around here on Balmung.

Really just want to meet everyone. Whether it be a side effect of my timezone or something else, never really seem to come across a lot of you beautiful RPC people. And both of my characters could do with more contacts, honestly ^^ If I had to mention one, I'd love to run into Rhyllona in a setting where our characters actually has time for talking
