1. Why would someone ever need to pay them 8 mil plus SE for the plot? A person ever needs to get the cost of the plot and that's it. If the buyer is retarded enough to spend over 2x what the plot is worth, that's on the buyer. If someone wants something out of what they paid for, they're allowed to. Simple as that. They are not being greedy. It's not just a thing. It's the way it is if people want to recuperate it. If the game allowed people to sell houses directly, sure as hell would be cheaper. But -the game- does not allow it. Well, you're arguing that the seller of the original plot should be able to recoup some of their 4 mil+ by passing on as a fee to the buyer, so why shouldn't *that* buyer then try to recoup some of their 8 mil+ by passing it on as a fee to the next poor sucker? If the first scalping makes sense, why shouldn't the second larger one? I think it should also be taken into consideration that there is a limit. Very little, if any, would ask that high for a small even if they did try to reimburse what they spent before. Even if they did, most would likely scoff or just wait until the next patch. Because even if the first 'scalping' makes sense, you don't charge $2,000,000 for a house that's only worth $400,000 and expect people to take you seriously. Most would overlook it rather then give it a second chance.
2. I'll add in my two cents as well, since this applies somewhat to my own FC and our position about a month ago when we got our medium. For us (DOVE) personally it was about getting back some of the costs. As well as helping some of our members get their personal rooms by having gil available to reimburse since many people are RPers first and foremost and weren't apt at playing the market and making enough for furniture costs AND room fee. Plus, the plot we wanted was in high demand and some others were looking to get it since it was in a popular RP ward in the LB. So that few extra million on top of what we had would help us get the house and all that we needed faster. In the end, we sold it to a raid like FC who could afford the extra few million on top of SE, and they were doing dances in the front yard like tribal children. Everyone was happy. But I have to agree with Kage: Because the game doesn't allow a friendlier system to sell houses directly and its all on SE, we make do with what we have. If I was able to sell the house directly to someone, I'd have made it cheaper then what SE did. However, it's just not a thing. At least not now anyways. I don't look down on anyone for doing it, and those who can afford to do it will do it and those who can afford to pay will pay. That's ultimately on them. I can see why it's disheartening, but I personally plan to work with what the game and SE gives me and make the most out of it for myself and especially for my FC members.
3. A T6 clear would be lovely And for those who need T5's I'm also happy to help! *Edit*: Also need Ramuh EX ><;
4. That's what my cat does all the time ; We have the same comp set up!
5. This alone makes me kinda sad Merri probably won't ever get married. At least, not unless he actually meets a lady he clicks with. The last (and only) time he made the pilgrimage to the twelve stones, it was to pray in final desperation alongside his friends as the world approached it's apparent end. Think it'd be fun to have him basically retrace his steps, only out of love and happiness instead of desperation and distress. Would really bring his character development full circle from the events of the calamity~ Anyhow, I thought it was so awesome that they tied the wedding ceremony into the same exact thing we did at the end of 1.0. I heard about that! When me and my friend were tinkering with it this morning we were remarking how it would be an extra bonding experience for the couple to do this together. I could even see it being a trek done with others: like the 'wedding party' group. The 'bride' and 'groom' could pray first, and the others could come forward next. Lots of possibilities with it really. It's also interesting to think of how my characters would treat it as individuals. M'subi would think of it as a field trip (fucking child lol). Xelra would find it to be rather spiritual and private. Lili would want to share in the experience with others as an experience to bond not only with her betrothed but with those she holds dear as well.
6. Welcome! \o/ If you need any help or questions, shoot me a message FF14 is my...fourth MMO I've seriously RPed on and it's a lot of fun!
7. Eh, Lili has people she dislikes. Only one person she genuinely despises and that's Zaiaku lol.
8. Lili's hold on the rock face nearly crumbled, the blonde shirking against the red and brown stone so as to have some place further she could grasp a hold of. After a moment, the unsteady quiver of the small divet stilled and she felt comfortable placing weight on it again to hoist herself up once more. It had been a full day of nothing but scaling the rocky hill and mountain sides beneath the scorching Thanalan sun. Even with it being later in the season, the heat did not diminish and the blonde had resorted to using her spare shirt as a turban of sorts to protect herself from the scorching sunlight. With a grunt and wheeze, she rose up onto the plateau she had been scaling and sprawled out in a grateful heap. The rocks were too warm to rest against for long, but her arms shook too much. She needed rest. Through the strands of her hair, the woman noticed a nearby scorpion. It was a rich red color, possibly poisonous, and stared at her with its claws held as high as its little body would allow. Lili didn't blink or move as she watched it, and the simple act of staring distracted her from her thoughts and where she was. In the middle of the Thanalans. Lost. Caked in dust and sweat and enough body odor to suit a grown Highlander male in his prime. All with only one purpose in mind and one objective. She had to find him. Seeing that the scorpion didn't seem interested in actually getting close to her, Lili rose up onto her hands and knees before gathering the strength to get to her feet and continue walking. The little scorpion waited a few steps before skittering behind her.

10. Sometimes its best to dive right in! I took about two breaks from the RP scene and even the game entirely and would come back with my character still wholly intact and able to go in the general direction as before with the people she had interacted with before as well. Being as yours is a different case, the best I can recommend is just to get out there. Start with the forums and see if you can OOCly arrange meetings or connections before hand to make the transition easier. If that doesn't help, have your character be a lurker and belt out some self description posts to garner some attention. Especially if she is as hostile as she is currently, it'll either repel folks or make some curious enough to venture further and see why she is the way she is. I can see this going multiple ways, though I wouldn't suggest making her TOO terribly isolated. Then you have a character that doesn't go anywhere because they won't be around people and thus the path you want her to go down will be even harder to achieve.
11. Lili technically is married already. Supposedly-dead-hubby coming back around kinda nulls the whole 'widow' bit, but tinkering with the system this morning...just...unf. So many IC possibilities! And it'll be such a fun adventure to go to each mark of the Twelve!!!
12. Lili has usually been warm, earthy colors: Brown, greens, deep reds and oranges. Her outfits are simply a reflection of her current mood
13. So is it confirmed that the same character can marry twice? I'm reading different discussions and people are being skeptical about it because of the "Eternal Bond" name. This will soon be followed by a Divorce event chain where you PvP duel with your estranged significant other over who gets to keep the personal housing and chocobo after the fact. Please look forward to it! ... Now I made myself sad. Who gets custody of the little minions? Lili would get all the expensive stuff. *nodnod*
14. Tinkering with the system to know what to expect when I do it for real Thanks Syl for being my fake hubby
15. Both watching and listening to the background song! EVXK3hY-9Ew
16. I've done that before myself Great isn't it? Though I tend to get lost in my own headspace so often I forget to shoot the occasional hello or what have you...oops!
17. This may be true -- but then it's not here. In this particular place, though, one of the rules is to be nice. And, when it goes to another place, it will be ten times worse because it will unmoderated and very biased. There will no mediation. I think ignoring it is haphazard. If it goes to another place, it becomes the problem of the place they go too. Ultimately, people will do what they want. If they want to continue flaming, they'll flame. They want to argue and nitpick, they'll argue and nitpick. Whether it's here or some where else or to someone else it doesn't matter. But it's not like one can follow these people around and quell every fire they may start in their wake. And to the mod, totes yes to all the things
18. QGg1gvs7QfM There was no time. She had made it back to their new home in the Lavender Beds, surrounded by the nearby waterfront and the rustling of the overhead trees with their bright leaves casting shadows over the infamous lavenders down below...and the scene brought her no peace. No serenity. The blonde leader of the Free Wings strode to the front door of her estate and slipped inside as quietly as she could. She could heard some voices down stairs, but she didn't stop to mingle. She moved down the hall before getting to her own cramped quarters away from all the other rooms and everyone elses' abodes, shutting and locking the door behind herself. Mikh'a was with Sarameda, Ado was toddling about the house with the others... Good. She could prepare. Tying up her hair in a tall ponytail, Lili made quick work getting what she needed in her room. There was nothing besides a bed, a dresser, a chest, and Mikh'a's little wooden playpen in the corner by the door. She flung open drawers, grabbing vials and papers that she had tucked away prior in preparation for the inevitable coming of this day. Not looking behind her as she tossed them onto her bed with no rhyme or reason to this madness. It was halfway through going through the drawers that Lili realized she was crying. Fat, salty tears slipping down her face and along her jaw before tainting the collar of her shirt. She'd wipe them away quickly, nearly sobbing with frustration that she was even crying in the first place. He had gone through this often enough, right? He always came through, didn't he? But...his parents...what his brother... The look on his face when they got back from the town of his birth. Her frantic movements had stopped as her hand lingered over something unfamiliar in her drawers. A shirt that obviously was not her own though she did slowly bring it to her nose for a tentative sniff. It was a simple white shirt...but Twelve, it smelled like him. Was his. In a matter of hours, or even a day or two...well. It wouldn't be him. It would be something else. Something dark and alien and strange and straight from the Void itself. Her sweet, compassionate, loving Locke would be a monster in a matter of hours. And it broke her heart. Lili wasn't aware how long she was on her knees in front of her drawers just clutching his shirt to her chest, but it was only a few minutes in real time. In her head it had felt like hours before she managed to drag herself upright and continue packing. The last few weeks with the salve she managed to procure from him showed her a side of Locke she hadn't seen before: more confident, more happy, more at ease. He was more quick to smile, to laugh, to be open. Of course, he was still shy and gentle natured but... It was different. Different because she got to see the real Locke Rinannis. She got to see the man beneath the aetheric taint and the haze of the potions he always had to take. Beneath the negative emotions that were more instilled at the front of his mind from said taint was an even more beautiful heart and soul then she had seen before. All she wanted to do was protect it and keep it safe. And most of all... Find a way to save him. Not worrying about packing more then two things of clothing in her small travel sack, she hoisted it over her shoulder and strode out of the room while wiping at her eyes.
19. Eh, it varies for me. I use a combination of most of the above depending on the material given to me and those in the game. Like with pregnancies, I don't go as long as nine months. Usually 4-7 depending and move from there, only because of the fact that there are those time bubbles in game where things'll change and events will jump skip. I also very it with how the game does its time passage system. It can be a matter of days in the game in an hour or so of real time.
20. I've been RPing about 14-15 years now. Since I was a little kid dicking around on Dark Age of Camelot with my stepdad, I didn't really play the game so much as I ran around, explored, and trolled the fuck out of people unintentionally (I was seven, lemmealone). I don't remember this story myself, but my stepdad tells me about it with pride so I usually use it as my first RP experience... My stepdad and I are playing DAoC, him in one room, me in another. His buddy suddenly calls him up on the phone saying "Dude, where's your kid?" "Uhh...in the other room. Why?" "Check out what she's doing in the game." So he gets up and comes into my room, looking at my screen. I'm standing in the middle of one of the little towns in the game typing out a story to a group of about fifteen people standing around me just listening. I'm seven at the time. He thought it was one of the coolest thing ever that a bunch of people who were likely 15-40 years old are all standing around for a story that a seven year old is typing out. It sorta went from there. But over all in all my experiences (from MSN Groups, Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger, Hexrpg.com, fanfiction.net, WoW, Rift, Skype, Fetlife, Aeon, ArcheAge, and FF14), the common force that drives me is the telling of a story. Not only just the telling of the story, but having other people to help make even more magic happen.
21. Best thing to do is just thrust yourself out there. Fo' seriously. I was in an old FC before that was made up of friends who had known each other for years. Many of them had their own patterns and things they generally liked to do amongst themselves and it was a hard group to meld into because of it since if ever anything WAS happening it was always the same 2-5 people. It wasn't until after I was out of the FC and had my character more actively in public and going out of my way to just DIVE into random RP did it explode. In some of the best possible ways. Granted, it left me with such a full plate of RP that I didn't have time to juggle all the people I wanted too or that I should have made time for, but it was one of the greatest decisions I made. Cliques are every where. Best to roll up your sleeves, spit to the side, and start singing the 'Fuck it All' rendition of 'Let it Go' as you barrel on through :cactuar:
