All right. Many efficient ways exist to level BTN/MIN (FSH grants so much XP per catch that just fishing you'll get there) First, you'll want a Survival Manual Rank 2 from the GC, 2h or 40,000 bonus XP, whichever comes first. Any bonus XP = Good XP. Second, you'll want to check where your usual GC turn ins spawn and how fast you can get them to HQ - HQ Star turn ins = best source of XP overall. Equivalent level in HW will grant at least 200k XP... at level 50. It's 750k at level 53. Third, understanding leves. For MIN/BTN, evaluation leves are the best possible thing you can have for leveling when nothing else is available. However, you need the secret to always getting that +25% bonus rewards. It's fairly simple but to understand how it works, it requires understanding how the evaluation leves function. You have a limit on how many nodes you can gather (usually from 4, 6 or 8) and of those, you have 6 strikes on those nodes. Each of these nodes has two items, a regular one worth 6 points (equal level to your character) and a rare one worth 9 (always worth 9, think it's +4 base to your character). Since we're not aiming for nothing but the best, you'll be wanting an average of 40 points per node you gather. Ideally, you want to stay where you'll have a chance to gather all 6 nodes so you can recover from a botch on another one. So, quick calculation 6 x 6 = 36, and even 5 x 6 + 9 = 39 makes you one point short of the vaulted 25% bonus. However, if you raise the level of the leve by 1, then the regular nodes are worth 8 points instead, for not that much more difficult a gather, making the calculation 6 x 8 = 48 per node! In Heavensward, sadly, it's 7 points, making it 6 x 7 = 42, requiring that 6th node to hit - You can mitigate that with getting all first 5 gathers then hitting that skill allowing you to have 100%/100% chance and go for the rare, making it 5 x 7 + 9 = 44. It's only two points, sure, but overall, it allows you 1 botch per 2 nodes as opposed to 1 botch per 4 nodes. Always raise by 1 when doing these leves unless you absolutely cannot (because you're already at +4/+2 to the levelĀ). The other leves aren't really worth doing.

It's there - 50% more XP in HW areas per FATE clear, and reducing difficulty if last time the FATE was up it failed, as well as level sync requirements going up 1 in HW areas.

If Kell drank half, then it's half-empty. If Kell was filling it, then it's half-full. If he just happens onto the glass of water, then it sure is a glass of water ain't it?

Honestly I used to be more in the whatever camp but it's one of those things I feel that you have to earn through fantastic RP. I'm far more willing to accept it if the story's good - if it's just "i got turned into a catboi to get turnt" then yeah no. It also depends on what you do with it - some people will use Fantasia "IC" to justify a change (character was glamoured and undoes the glamour, etc.) and others will explicitly refer to the potion. One of the things that the potion mentions is not so much how expensive it is but how rare it is. Chances are there is no one in Eorzea that can actually make these potions. If the story's good, makes sense and doesn't outright contradict lore, I'm down.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

I want the head of whoever coded the RNG in this game, as it pertains to crafting and gathering. -
Re: Sales of Housing Plots against ToS or not?

honestly it feels like whoever is handling housing should be poking the UI dudes for an integrated in-game transferral of ownership/land marketplace. -
BTW, when i referred to failing at a video game. I didn't mean this one.

Eorzean Aetheists and The Believability of Such Characters
Kellach Woods replied to Dat Oni's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Also, we speak as though the Twelve actually exist when, well... A) None were there when the Twelve allegedly were on Eorzea, and even the various saints can't even be tied down to any historical fact. Hell... B) The Twelve are an Eorzean belief, that is not held worldwide - You'd think if it was a certainty that they exist, more people from outside would recognize that part of the theology. Although quite frankly I think the definition of Atheism in fantasy should be twisted because most of the time there actually is an order of the universe that involves otherworldly, all-powerful beings. For example, we have Hydaelyn for the world of FFXIV. Atheism would be rejection of all dogmas and power those beings have over life (recognizing that the otherworldly being exists if they have proof that they do, but that they have no incidence on life and whoever claims so is a charlatan) instead of disbelief. This'd enable us to have a definition that's closer to what the people of that world would experience while also removing the Garleans from the equation, who have their own dogma that they rigorously believe in. I personally play Kell as a sort-of atheist, but it's more paganistic than atheistic when you analyze it a tiny bit beyond the surface. He recognizes that the Twelve are important to Eorzean life, but his own beliefs lie in the elements themselves and his people have all sorts of rituals based on those. That they chose to manifest as actual deities on Eorzea is their choice, and he respects that. But he'll still say "Fire take my hand" as a swear. Even if "By Byregot's gut" is hilarious. -
for me I just feel I've gotten all of these failures, but damn if I've had successes and shit, so it's like... okay i fail and fail and fail and fail and keep on failing with more failure. but when is it my turn to succeed, y'know? also seems like I failed to stay on topic
-
Funnily enough, my ex is trans. I've got the same problem too - regardless of the gravity of the failure. It's fucking stupid for a 30 year old to be completely fucking destroyed by performing badly at a video game but that's how it is.
-
Yeah uh like a lot of my personal issues have to do with this. I've been on and off therapy for years now. I'll let you know how that goes.
-
Keep in mind that because of Heavensward we've been experiencing a lot of problems with the usual times that we recommend for character creation. Attested by the fact that Balmung is not open at this hour. Your best bet is the times immediately preceding maintenance and immediately following maintenance.

I don't think Kell could reach that point at this point in time. Not because he makes rational decisions, but mostly because of the opposite. I mean if he didn't clock people for outright calling him a retard, he won't easily lose it.

Generally if you say one bad thing about Ul'dah around here you're lucky if it doesn't end in "shut your whore mouth." I'm kinda tired of that.
-
also we've had this conversation before. it turns out the people who want to RP in these cities are already RPing in these cities. They just happen to not be on the RPC much for the most part. Probably because practically everyone here RPs in Ul'dah and will take it as a personal affront if you don't like the place. I personally don't care, I'll RP anywhere, but seriously I don't think I've seen that much defensive stance over a fictional city in RP since people were being Undead apologists way back in Vanilla WoW.

I'mma say the fat cat's wiggling legs is a lot of exercise for something so lazy.

Does your Character aspire to be a Hero?
Kellach Woods replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
Kell has essentially been raised on heroics all his life - his best friends were books because he couldn't get out of bed or if so, not for long. That he was able to accomplish all he did even though he's not always stable is actually a lot more heroic than anything he has accomplished, so good on him! The problem is that he has a shaky sense of self, enough that he'd vehemently deny having done some of the things he has, which isn't exactly heroic. He also has no sense of perspective, being far too willing to gordian knot his way through problems that would require a more extensive solution. -
There's also Mog, who's a legendary Moogle warrior who's leaps mirrored that of dragoons. (Churning Mists quests)

The Great Burden of Adventurers and their Jobs
Kellach Woods replied to Seriphyn's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Honestly the 50-60 line for WAR essentially did away with the whole threat of the Inner Beast stuff -
From the quests, the Rogues' Guild operates strictly on reputation. If they have wind of something they'll act but they aren't exactly a large organization. Chances are that in terms of people who'll act (aka actually go through the shadows to do stuff) are few and far between. They just have a large information network. Their goal is to dissuade people from actually acting out rather than punishing others because they know fully well they can't be everywhere at every time and from what I understand, it works... somewhat. Same way the Yellowjackets/Maelstrom hasn't stamped out all crime forever. Besides, with the Executioners' Blades still around and backing upstart groups to start shit, you have your source of conflict there. * * * To me, Ul'dah is boring, if I wanted to see rich dudes shitting on poor folks I'd just saunter on downtown IRL. To me, Gridania is boring - because absolutely nothing happens there in both MSQ and actual happenings. Like seriously when your worst troubles are a bunch of birdmen without wings, salad and poachers you don't have problems. To me, Ishgard is boring - I mean sure if you worship Halone and like freezing temperatures. So, y'know what, let's all relocate to Idyllshire - Gobbiefriends bestfriends.
-
And yet the Maelstrom's still got recruits trying to wipe out the rogues' guild. (ROG story) And yet the farmers are struggling 'cause most are pirates who've never lived on the land before, a few of them eschewing the authority and essentially turning coat (Middle La Noscea) Most of you do not realize just how much the Admiral has clout (winning the Trident (IIRC that's the name) definitely made her something to be reckoned with). Why should Limsa represent a seedy city with inter-gang warfare? Hell, everything surrounding Pearl Lane in Ul'dah screams that a lot more than Limsa. Limsa is tightly regulated because otherwise they'd fall and they damned well know it - both to the two primal summoning beast tribes and the rest of the city-states who wouldn't tolerate their shit for very long. And then, y'know, Garlemald. And being shown to be too potent? The whole city is too potent, period! From outright making bulletproof armor, to having the only guild that was able to stand up to Lolorito, to fending off constant beast tribe attacks from two fronts, only asking for help when they're so deep in trouble that they can't realistically throw more pirates at the problem. Even, the whole point of the ACN/ROG quests is that even with all of those securities, THERE ARE STILL CONFLICTS IN LIMSA.
-
the point is, they're there to essentially ensure there's honor among thieves. probably doesn't help that they seemed to have lifted Jacke straight from Johnny Depp. also, their opposition with the Maelstrom? kiiiiiiiiiinda important.
-
and the people who associated Limsa with criminals ONLY didn't understand Limsa at all either unless you forego the entirety of the blacksmiths/armorers/culinarians/arcanists and farmers of Middle La Noscea.
