"Why do you have an eyepatch?" "Banged an Au Ra." "Aren't the females super small and with horns that aren't that... Oh."

Nah that'd be more of a Brutality because it's accidental.

Nebbs is so friendly that they started a LS based on friendliness and acceptance (also, cake). I mean how friendly is THAT? -
One of my favorites because Square never really replicated it for other FFs is the FF4 Celtic Moon arrangements. Favorites off that album are Troian Beauty and the Main Theme from FF4.

Gotta admit I'm kinda feeling this about gaming in general, but it might just be the fact that I work in QA and have been doing hella overtime as a result, as well as trying to get much, much better than I currently am in Mortal Kombat X. These QBRC combos won't become crispy by themselves. Pretty sure I can retrace a Kudos post I made about exactly that happening. It's not that hard provided you have a good idea - Might just be you're looking for something that's not in the city (Coeurl Skin, etc.) Also need to escort someone but wouldn't mind a traveling partner. Plenty hooks you can use within the game's very own lore to do that, but it requires a commitment to RPing outside of the cities. Where this is hard is that there's a couple people on here and off here that are reluctant to the idea of actually doing something while RPing instead of just RPing. I can understand stuff like, say, exploring Wanderer's Palace IC for various reasons (Nymian artifacts, wanting to trade the tonberries for a Chef's Knife, etc. P.S. I am currently doing this and IIRC I only have one spot left) would require hella planning unless you happen to casually meet a crew of dedicated dungeon delvers who have a death wish. And by hella planning I mean sowing the seed IC to someone I know, then casually encountering someone in Bronze Lake that I know who informed me of more info IC and is interested in going. Barely 2 sessions and we're ready to rock. That kinda thing does require setup. However a trek to the country side because reasons? 15 minutes you got your set-up. You fail? Determine whether you'd do it alone, or need someone else, or if you want to talk more about it, etc. I am not saying that such a thing is easy nor that it's common - just that it's feasible and writing it off as folly is exactly that.

Cash Shop is on the Mog Station, outside of game. You trade real money for in-game goods. I don't believe there's any outfits there though. 15, you won't have much choice - You can make something that works but it'd require a lot of dyes and adjustments. -
Usually people have shy characters because they can't envision themselves having the OOC courage to play a character that isn't. At least, that's how it was for me for a few characters beforehand. (My method of, uh, coping is incredibly unhealthy and as such I won't share it here.) It gives an excuse for the RPer to not feel involved that doesn't attack the issue, that shifts the blame passively on an outside entity (and it's better than saying it's obviously my fault or other people's fault) but it doesn't address the problem. However, expecting that people confront shortcomings that might be far more crippling than they appear for the sake of a video game is asking a bit much of them. It does suck - both for the person because their own insecurities are preventing them from having fun and for the community because they're losing a potential RPer. When it comes to RPing, I'd rather have a larger pool of people that RP all around me because statistically someone can find their niche easier if there's more RPers than not. Even then, because I recognize that what he wants out of RP in this game is what I want out of RP in this game, I can only tell him what worked for me - Which was joining a OOC linkshell then saying I'm planning on RPing there. Or looking for that one sentence that meant I could talk, finding it and then onwards to adventure. I still attended hella tavern nights and other events though. They won't include you if they don't know you - so you'll need to introduce yourself. A good tavern night you can go to is the HoD tavern night on Thursday nights at 9 Eastern - At worst, Faye always welcomes you IC so you can have some measure of interaction, and there's always someone to remind you to put your weapon in the locker, which instantly forces you to acknowledge and interact with them.

Sadly, the Quicksand is atrocious for the kind of RP we like due to the limitations of FFXIV itself rather than the community. Send a tell? Force an "in"? It can easily get lost in the shuffle, and scrolling up with FFXIV's system is an absolute pain. IDEALLY people will have set separate tabs so they can catch tells, but not everyone does this and the little bleep is not nearly enough to get people engrossed into tabs. No easy way to flag yourself as a RPer either - so that can also get lost in the shuffle. Why do I mention the Quicksand when the OP didn't? 'cause it's the only random RP hub that people regularly go to. We've tried to establish others - nobody wants to go there and chill more often than not. Best way, so far, is to join a LS/FC where you can get access to a larger set of eyes upon your movements and you can advertise you're going to that spot to RP if anyone wants to come with or meet up the character. Once that thing we're discussing in the Off-Topic forum (the RP in Progress forum) is up we'll have that tool as an overarching tool that isn't limited to 128 characters (wouldn't be so bad if it was ACCOUNTS but you know) and one that all of us can actually use since it's not LS restricted, and only serves as a radar to say "RP is happening in : THIS AREA RIGHT NOW" so we can go. As far as LSes are concerned, Nebbs' very own is pretty good and non-judgmental. * * * I find open events hostile to rando people showing up. Generally, they're rehashing whatever plot you're not a part of and it's hard to get any sort of significant RP as anything but an observer. Which, well, isn't significant. A lot of Open events are anything but in my experience (I'm not talking about, say, tavern nights and other things. Those kind of events are hit or miss. Some nights are good, some nights aren't and you get as much as you put in for those) often serving to further the plots of one or two individuals rather than be actually open. If I gotta act OOC in order to get RP at what's supposed to be a Open event what's the point, y'know? Don't build RP on false pretenses. I'm not advocating not attending open events if you are able, just that don't be disappointed if you don't get anything from 'em. Two you can start with are the Grindstone (weekly, Saturdays, 10 Eastern) and the Shots Competition (Monthly, check the thread for more details). Grindstone, unless you're actively fighting, will be a lot more passive but you can find someone you like and cheer for them (or boo) or do commentary. Shots Comp the same but people are hella drunk so it's hilarious. Read up on the threads as far as the rules of those events are concerned, and you're ready to go.

[SPOILERS not hidden in SPOILERS] 2.55 Before the Fall Part 2
Kellach Woods replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Actually, we don't know. From my understanding the current Syndicate with the exception of Godbert Manderville (and even then that's debatable - You don't get fancy traditions like the Manderville dance without a long history, and Godbert mentions that Goldsmithing is the family trade) is old money. Also, Teledji 'cause he's dead. Also, meritocracy only works if you have a chance to make it. Again, Wystan's example shows exactly why that argument is flawed. Unless you mean it's perfectly fine to ignore the laws in place, in which case how is it better than Limsa? Gridania is definitely a place where you can't make it for shit unless you're born a certain way. Limsa is more an example that you can make it regardless of your background because at least the people in power will not actively try to bust your legs for doing so unless you're breaking the law. It's also the best way to learn trading without being in Ul'dah because it's essentially the center of overseas trade. -

Thank you for clarifying, that fixes a lot of concerns I had. If it was automated it would be abused to hell and back. I don't think I've ever seen forum software that had such a badly designed report button that would automatically warn anyone who was on the receiving end of a report. Report's just a ping to the mods saying "someone believes this goes against the rules, and this is the reason they gave" - it's up to them to do something about it. Chances are, people who'd be so outraged that they'd get mad over a moderator not automatically giving out warnings like it was candy are going to do something stupid in the thread anyway, and get an infraction themselves. Shooting themselves in the foot, as it were. -

A prime example of the sort of passive aggressive personal attacks that these policies will not fix. Report, move on. Best way to deal with it. -

Pretty sure in this situation you'd get a few peeps who'd say somethin' stupid and they're the ones who'd get the warnbat. Instigating doesn't seem to get much warnings - I've never gotten any and according to the scenarios you put forth I probably would be in the 8-point range if that were the case. -

5-0 CAN'T GET ME TOO RAW FOR THE RPC. But they've also mentioned that editing posts shortly after you post them is fine because that's regular edit behavior. What they don't want is systematic erasing of posting behavior to claim that the posts weren't inflammatory. E.G : I edit out the entirety of my posting to remove the word fuck so I can't get blasted for excessive swearing, even if that's not really a policy, in order to look better in order to contest a warning. That is the kinda thing that will be flagged. -

Problem is that they weren't in the clear before either. Response to ANY argument on this forum? Passive-aggressive snipe involving videos, gifs and memes. At best the policy forces people to use words instead. If you think something is stupid, you're welcome to think it and express it. Also, why do you feel the need to warn about the inflammatory content? Why is it necessary? Seriously I do not get that point at all. Just yolo post, edit it out if you realize that's not what you wanted to say upon reread. Like I just did. -

Add it to PC options, problem solved. (Also if they killed the PS3 version maybe. I don't envy the people working on the port-down version of Heavensward...) * * * One of the (many) reasons I avoid the Quicksand is pretty much that A) it's impossible to walk-up RP without a fuckton of OOC communication because of the chatter B) even within the RP itself following the actual chatter is a clusterfuck unless you're RPing in a party, at which point you may as well take it elsewhere unless you need to be at the Quicksand because reasons. -

Problem is that they're not policing disagreement, which is what they've stated numerous times. They're policing the thinly veiled jabs at other people's character/RP preference/etc. that have been very prevalent in the past month or so. Some of which has been even mentioned on this thread (implications that people are too sensitive, "hugbox", etc.) I swear like a sailor and am brash as fuck enough that I've been told there's some people on the site that wouldn't RP with me because of this OOC behavior, yet I'm fairly confident I can hang without getting an infraction or a warning 'cause I don't insult people on this site. So long as you don't do that you should be fine.
