[Feedback!] Miqo'te Kunoichi Backstory
Larson replied to Thunderbolt300's topic in Character Workshop
What Warren said. The biggest issue in FF14 is that the timeline doesn't equate to real time like, say, GW2. Everything that has happened since 1.0 has happened within the same calendar year, which is 5 years after the calamity (somehow the world has recovered quite a lot, leading me to assume that perhaps Hydaelyn has 48 hour days or something nifty. Basically, in their world, little time has passed. -
*sweat* Are...are you sure? There are more examples in your art than in the RPc ;P

How I feel about this picture. b1z4JfxFb6c I've seen some handsome Roe men. In fact Solmund has a Roe acquaintance he plans court. You'll have no trouble scoring hotties as a Roe.

Five Reasons Your Character Would Approach a Stranger (And Other Prompts)
Larson replied to Verad's topic in RP Discussion
1. Those shoes and that necklace? 2. Were you born ugly or did years of dirty prostitutes do that to you? 3. Oh...you want to commission tailoring? Fine, fine. Come to my office. 4. I heard you're a guy to see about a thing. 5. You look wealthy and fashion forward. Let me design clothing for you. -
[NSFW] RP Discussion: Bad words said IC, for it or against it?
Larson replied to Avira's topic in RP Discussion
The thing about cursing is that the idea comes from the fact that anything that leaves your tongue has weight. When you say something to someone, it has permanence, so you choose your words carefully. To "curse" at someone was to wish suffering on them. "A pox on your clan." "Get fucked.". Back when it was far less socially acceptable to use "common" language, the utterance of it would hit like a bomb. Aristocrats had ways of insulting one another that evaded the use of undesirable language, but when one WAS used, it would be jarring and damning for both parties involved. This is why Dadarupo, as prejudiced and elitist as he is, finds ways of insulting others that save face. Instead of, "Hey Miqote. You dress like a slut. Why don't you go get fucked and put some clothes on?" He might say to someone else but within earshot of the offender, "You know, I just don't understand these Miqote men and their choices of fashion. You'd think they'd learn to dress themselves after a few generations in civilization. But I suppose a coeurl isn't trained in a day. Or rather, a decade." -
Did some Photoshopping. Solmund would look a lot like this but with blonder hair.

What future game releases are you most looking forward to?
Larson replied to Dravus's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
The only game worth mentioning: Fkg5UVTsKCE Picture a vibrant post-apocalyptic word where nature as completely reclaimed what was once a futuristic civilization. Humanity is now tribal, and cultural evolution has started over. Meanwhile, the machines run wild. Feral. Birds, mammals, reptiles. Nearly all wildlife has been replaced by machines. -
Solmund leaned back in his chair behind the ransacked desk in his office and heaved a heavy sigh. The Brass Blades had finally concluded their investigation nearly a week behind schedule, and he had slept barely a wink in that time- one cannot leave Brass Blades alone with valuables. All in all, the office of Whyte Contrivances was left far more destroyed than it was when Solmund entered at the start. The only thing missing that he knew of were the shipping manifests that proved that Black Fangs were poaching in the Shroud. "You are certainly looking your age this morning." said the Dunesfolk sitting in the chair across from him whose age was betrayed only by the subtle grays running through his carefully styled navy-blue hair. Solmund sat up, blinking his tired eyes and tapping a quill on the desk. "You're one to talk, Dadarupo." His tone was a mix of jest and irritability. "Yes, but I wear it -well-. While you on the other hand should get your beauty sleep before my hard work begins to look tired as well." He was of course referring to the Highlander's intricately woven coat and vest, designed and tailored by the Lalafell's own hands. Solmund could only shake his head with an exhausted smile. He would be returning to the Harbingers manor this eve, and privately lamented not having his own quarters built yet. This combined with the idea of Dadarupo meeting the Saints mortified him, but he knew it was his best chance of solving his troubles. Hopefully, the Lalafell's slice-and-dice tongue would not become an obstacle.

balmung Doman Lalafell Looking for connections
Larson replied to Allegro's topic in Chronicled Connections
Oye! She has an interesting name. I suggest providing some info on how she became known as Allegro Symphonic. It's a musical name, so perhaps she was a musician or a singer in Doma and used it as a performing name? As far as an Eorzean-born Lala, if her biological parents lived long enough to name her, I'd look HERE: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/61151-Lalafell-Naming-Conventions You can tell which species of Lalafell she is by looking at her eyes: Plainsfolk have elongated pupils. Dunesfolk have the protective layer that makes their eyes look big and glossy. -
Per lore reference by Sounssy, living souls are not captured. The soul or aether of SLAIN enemies is captured, but it is not sentient. Merely the power of their being remains. Magicite can capture magical energy (ascians are entirely magical energy) for a short time. It cannot capture energy indefinitely. Keep in mind that Voidsent are all kinds of beasties like the Ahriman and the death dragons, but are technically living beings. You still have to slay them for their soul energy.

Dark Knight synopsis, please? NO SPOILERS
Larson replied to Lady Whiteraven's topic in Character Workshop
Unfortunately anything other than what you already know is found in the story, so per your request, we can't really tell you much more. You are right about emotions being the key, but the degree of importance and the way in which a DRK wields them is a major part of the story. Anything else that can be said might not make sense without referencing the source. You will have to play through it to learn more if we can't tell you. ;-) -
((visuals pending. In-thread responses are okay!)) A few small yet carefully penned flyers are posted at the Weaver's Guild and on a notice board near the Grand Promenade in Ul'Dah. Lords and Ladies The moment you have been waiting for has finally come! Master Couturier Dadarupo Boborupo is at last accepting new additions to his most exclusive client list: The Silver Five. As many of you fashion-forward individuals may know, the average wait for apparel commission under Dadarupo has reached nearly six months to consultation. As each items is crafted and tailored with the most precise care, it can take many more moons to see your garments at completion- with the exception of the lucky individuals whose commissions fall above all others and whose names glimmer like conductive metal against the blackened ink of the mundane. With the bankruptcy of a miraculous three of these individuals, the time to act is now! But what could one gain from obtaining such an honor? Surely one with adequate planning ability could not be inconvenienced by so simple a wait? One mustn't assume the Silver Five merely gain convenience- for that is only a small benefit. In addition to front-of-the-line service, Silver Five gain access to the highest degree of materials, complimentary adjustments, and the ability to request the use Dadarupo's finest creation; Arcanima Thread. But how does one request to become such a Very Important Person? It's quite simple! Dadarupo will meet with all who request to apply, but three will be accepted. Please bring with you a confirmation of assets. The Silver Five List Solmund Whyte (requested anonymity) OPEN OPEN OPEN

Cloud is to be in Super Smash Bros!
Larson replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
If anyone should be ported into a series it should be this badass ho: Stronger female lead than Lightning. Gorgeous Voice Acting. Fang was able to handle her feelings, lie to someone she loves for an extended period of time, keep everyone in line, and be an excellent fighter without being a broody mcedgerson. To me, she felt like a real person. You got the sense that there is more to her than meets the eye without her being a bitch to everyone. I've heard dumb stuff about Lightning being a "symbol of feminism" due to her character, leadership, and blah blah, but tbh I think that's a mantle better suited for Fang. -

Actually, Cloud of Darkness might be the same as FF3, just like Gilgamesh which is always the same in all games. But for the rest, they're probably different things. My point is that there are plenty of things in FFXIV that are from other FF games but it doesn't mean that people from those games are just gonna randomly be coming in to Eorzea like Hey sup! I did not play FFXI 'cause no PC and I didn't really grow up with internet anyways...but regardless of the story I think it's highly unlikely that they would end up in Eorzea. Aaaah quick edit: FF3 and 4 and tactics seem to have more in common with Eorzea stuff than FFXI outside of the face. A lot of the MMO core lore (time/spacial keeping, general race look--which was standard for more than just FFXI...a lot of game shave human-like, elf-like, animal-like, little people-like races--and what not)may have been from FFXI, but lore wise, it's not really connected. A lot of character models seem to be the same and some names (like xys is an upscaled version of abc)...but there's not much story impact from what I'm reading. The past, present, and future of the world of Hydaelyn may not be connected to the world of FFXI, but canonically they exist in the same network of universes that Shantotto is canonically able to traverse at will, as well as move others with her. Shantotto is a Black Mage but also pretty much the equivalent of a dimensional witch. XI and XIV do not exist in the same universe, but Square Enix subscribes to the idea that all worlds ever created exist in a blob of universes. The IRL world, the Disney worlds, Narnia, the Final Fantasy worlds, the World of Warcraft worlds...basically these universes come into existence and become a part of the grand network of universes. But some universes are harder to move between than others. The Warcraft universe and the FF14 universe are so entirely different that moving between them is near impossible. FF14 and FF11, and all the other FF worlds have so many fundamental similarities that someone like Shantotto can freely move between them. Yes, technically Enix recycles ideas and iconizes them, but the very fact that the same deities and eidolons exist throughout the universes is a very sturdy bridge that allows dimensional travel. If you want to get down to it, every videogame ever made (with the exception of direct sequels and expansions i.e Infamous/Infamous: Second Son) added a new universe to the web of universes, because someone wrote that world and its past, present, and future into existence. Even more meta: (insert stoner meme) What if we are all ambient NPCs in a video game that a company in a world similar to ours made, and all the Hollywood stars are the RPers wish-fulfillment Mary-Sues?
