I managed to get an upgrade for our FC to a medium (even though we were gunning for a large, but hey a upgrade from a small, anything is nice.) Granted I was the only FC member that managed a queue number under 600 within minutes of patch hitting and in within 5 minutes. I feel bad for the people I know that were looking for housing (even just the smalls) and it makes me have a small ting of guilt I was able to get on and a medium when they had a 20 minute plus queue to get in. T_T;

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Blythe replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Is that what it is? I had a feeling I was running dry on MP so much easier lately, but I had assumed it was just because I was spending more time spamming spells without having to Cleric Stance dance or something. It definitely feels weird having to hit Lucid Dreaming or detonating my Fairy just to keep my MP up. SMN Would like to have a word with you about Aetherflow. And we share your pain on how much BANE INFURIATINGLY MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH SQUARE ENIX. Anyway... Curious, is the MP issue because the shielding takes more MP now? I know I heard something about that being a case. I don't really play SCH so I don't really know. -
While I honestly think they should just make it a kick after 30 minutes of not moving even if you are crafting or at a summoning bell or a market board, this is probably the next thing that we can ask for right now. When I got home, it was only 900 in queue instead of the 2.3k+ I was experiencing the days earlier. And yes, for those days, I had to AFK craft (not going to lie) since it would've taken me 3 hours or more to get in at prime time. Being that it only took 40 minutes instead of the three hours, I was pleasantly surprised. It meant I could actually make dinner and eat it without feeling like time was going to drag. Plus I got in a few rounds of playing another game while I as waiting. So it wasn't that bad.
-
Most of the people that I know that have done this to circumvent the AFK timer normally do it because they don't want to wait several hours after they come home from work. Based off that, most of them won't be able to log on until they get home near prime time. For those that don't have work as an excuse... well... I don't know. As for the bots, considering Balmung's been locked, that should hopefully be a non-issue on getting into the server.

Mine would be the same as yours if I were to retire my character any time soon. (I don't but hey, sometimes good to plan ahead.) Considering I have talked to my RP partner about it, our characters would probably settle down, have a couple kids, and live life contently for the rest of their days. My character usually thinks before she acts and doesn't get into anything too stupid (unless she's drunk lol) and would make the most sense. Now my one alt, I would retire her in a flame of glory since she's definitely more war-orientated. Haha.

While I can agree statement 1 and a little bit to statement 4 (I have my qualms about mega servers, but that's for another topic), you middle two points have me curious. Let's start of with statement 2. Sure, you may think that fragmenting RP by going to different servers is a bad thing. Sure, Mateus is dealing with the issue of a lot of people coming to their server at once. Will this fragment RP in the long run to be quite honest? No, no it won't. Plus, with the second server growing, it's better some issues are out of the way now and dealt with instead of later. Now on to statement 3, uh have you seen what happened with the Make it Rain Event? We crashed the server. Plus, with how many people we have, I honestly doubt it will do anything to fragment RP in anyway. We have a lot of people (way more than the server can handle). Unless you want to know every single one of the thousands of roleplayers on, I'm pretty sure RP won't be fragmented... at all.

We are starting in 40 minutes! Come join us!

Just a tiny reminder for those on Mateus, this is happening tomorrow at 9 PM EST!

As I have discussed with one of my other friends on how long this lock out might stay on, it depends. And with what Kage just posted, yeah, that sounds about right with the numbers. I doubt it will be within the first month of Stormblood that is for sure, and there is a good chance it will be after the housing addition of Shirogane. At the earliest, that would make it... August or maybe September? We are seeing at least 3.5 months right there with a server lock if it ends up being the case. But this can be much longer with the numbers that have been posted. I do agree with all that say there needs to be a long enough time to make a smaller community thrive and sense of family for transfering/newer players.

I agree with this. It's a wonder to see how it will go, but forcing people to move should only be the last possible scenario. Splitting it may not be good either as it may end up having the same thing happening a couple years down the road with the same issue or makes enough people quit to the point that it isn't the same as it was. And to be honest, I don't even think they would give people a choice if they didn't even give a fair warning for this lock out. Right now we are at a very thin line and S.E. is doing as much as they can right now before a server split. (And the fact we are still near Gilgamesh with a server split is kind of frightening to be honest with how many people we have.) Since we don't have enough information yet on these server bonuses, it's a wait and see game until SB comes out anyway. :T

While my main character is on Balmung, I can definitely make an alt to help around with the RP on Mateus. I think this is an absolute wonderful idea and want to help out any way I can. : ) (May make an Au Ra or Hyur... not sure yet.)
-
I'll definitely keep an eye on this. Unfortunately, my character probably fits under freelancer the easiest (being primarily a researcher and all). I could finagle it a bit, but it might not work. :< I still would love to come and join your events and everything if that's alright! <3

I'd also enjoy an invite to the linshell as well. I checked this morning to see if people were on, but nothing. I'll keep a look out though.

balmung Wayfarer's Rest:Valentione's Ball 2/26
Blythe replied to RiniKett's topic in Chronicled Events
Don't forget. It's this Friday. Hehe. n v n We hope to see you all there! <3 -
*hugs* You're a sweetie pie like Rini. I think this idea is adorable. <3 1. Red Baron 2. Thancred 3. Tender Lamb 4. Hoary the Snowman.

I can confirm this is true. I've done it before with several other characters as long as they are all on the same server you are transferring them from. (Say all of them are on Cactaur, you can transfer them. If one is on Cactaur and another on Siren, you have to pick which one since you can't use it on both of them.) I hope that helps!

Oh hey, I know this dork. -points at- Hi Azzy~ I'm happy you finally found your way here. Hope the resources around here help you <3
-
I believe it's only Aether's data server that is having the issue. People I know got onto all the other ones just fine... unfortunately. (-sobs-)
-
My heart sank when I saw full. ; o ; But yeah, definitely going to look back into this when you have slots open. Your art style is amazing. <3 (Should finally have stuff together on my alt when you do since its the one I was like 'yas, this'd be perfect)
-
This sounds perfect for both of my characters. But considering the theme of this one, I would like to sign up Nalli Blythe, please~ <3
-
This went extremely well. And I was able to help a new RPer ease into things and made a great friend out of it. Thank you dearly~ <3

Hey there, and welcome back to FFXIV! If you ever want someone to RP with, I'm more than available to RP with you. Just message me here or on the game at Nalli Blythe, she's a Xaela as well. Hehe. I check both quite frequently.
-
Hey there! I have a Xaela - Kha and Arulaq (she's mixed). Considering she's far from the normal Xaelan 'grr, I am inheritly aggressive' stereotype, she'll probably be fascinated. She's a traveller, so she won't always be in one place at any given time. But just tell me in game or add me. Also, you can get a hold of me here!
-
It's mentioned in the DRK lore that some Xaela ended up in Ishgard due to feeling from the Empire. The majority were also killed by Ishgardians fearing they were draconic. I knew there were some things with Au Ra and the DRK quest, but.... woooah. : o
