  1. Tristram always wanted to be a Disney princess! Bluebird Ifrit Panda :chocobo:
  2. Homeless hobo highlander hikes haphazardly however he has hindrances hanging his hereditary handicraft.
  3. Yes, more highlanders. Come! We shall go cover each other with shark oil and steal all the booze! ... or not. Totally your call if you want in. On a serious note, nice to seem someone taking some of the less traveled routes of character history with a highlander. Look forward to crossing your character ICly.
  4. Feeling rather digital today ... vuU2rYZH-Hk
  5. Sojourn Tristram has been always the wanderer. He refused to settle with the other refugees in Little Ala Mhigo or anywhere else, but instead took to a life abroad. The man even philosophically views life and it's events on the metaphor of the Road: with steps, stumbles, stones, floods and crossroads. Nearly all things are just little stops and brief respites before moving on again. This also is not just in regard to places for the character, but in careers taken and people met. His sojourn through life is not a permanent thing either, as he knows it will come to an end one day through one means or another. I think the character speaks best to it himself ...
  6. Fine, have a debate fact to chew on: FFVIII WAS BETTER THAN FFIX
  7. *tosses hat in the ring* 1. Thavnairian set 2. Owlet 3. Levin Lamp :moogle:
  8. Keep in mind when changing the contents of a web page, you may need to clear your browser cache to see the new content, especially where pictures and forms are concerned as well. Ctrl+f5 on most browsers will refresh with a new cache on most modern browsers for just that page. You could also clear it for the domain from the dev tools within the browser console.
  9. Pretty much the same as the rest of you. Music before/during, instrumental stuff mostly. I do have varied general lists for specific characters, settings, and moods. I can't listen to anything electronic/digital while RPing in FF for example, but did so for EvE and MXO. Get that character dressed (5 minutes to 2 hours.) Get off Skype/Mumble/Discord/Vent/whatever. People chatting can completely break my chain of thought on the character. Very serious RP = No one else about. General or lighter RP doesn't bother me as much, but someone lurking over my shoulder can make me super conscious about what I am typing. Beverages and snacks are a must! :moogle: The only thing I haven't seen mentioned (unless I missed it) was actually doing a half/hour of reading before hand. Kinda warms up the engine a bit as reading seems to turn the same gears in my head that are used for RP. I only really do this for pretty heavy RP or having to pick up or continue from a major scene that needed to be split for meatspace stuff. Or if I haven't RPed in a long time.
  10. First it's the trenchcoats ... next it will be fedora's and katanas. :cactuar: Seriously though, there is some pretty high variation gear styles in this magifantipunk world we play in. Not an immersion breaker by any stretch in my book.. And we already have several styles of long coats anyway ...
  11. I can also second the route of being an Ala Mighan lancer, or at least styled as one. I use the DRG class OOCly as it suits most of what I want to do. I haven't really received much pushback or ill reception presenting my character in that light. Fair warning, specifics on this route seem sparse as I have found panning through the lore so far. I've been making a few educated guess in that area, mostly looking to things like Chinese spear fighting to follow what we see with the Fists in terms of influences and flavor. Western styles are worth a look as well. At bare minimum, I found it helps with combat RP and describing the motions (very used to playing casters >.<). Still, I try not to tread too deeply into the waters of any style as I haven't found the any lore on the methods or styles of the Ala Mhigan lancers. Just a personal safegaurd against having to do a major retcon later. Additionally, I believe there are multiple mentions of the Ala Mhigans being very capable with magitek or tech in general, so that could open up use of the machinist class ICly as well. P.S. If there is a resistance LS I might be persuaded to take up a channel slot for that. >.>
  12. The year I decide to travel 1300 miles back home is the year that all of my mother's relatives are going to be in one spot ... all 120+ of them. And guess who has to put up with their crap and family politics at the Christmas party. Always a game who can talk the loudest, RIP my hearing. The things I put up with to see my siblings who I miss dearly. Also, internet sucks, pls send broadband.
  13. "You'll be getting a big gift this year! A big, big box of packaged air. That's right Tristram you're on the Naughty List." Whelp, should be surprised but ... no. At least he has a box now.
  14. *grumbles* The whole Imp side RP scene really put me out because of that. Passion =/= sex. Also, Rep side needs more smuggler, underworld guilds. When I resubbed and went there I had a blast RPing an imperial expat turned smugger. It really a shame with that RP community though ... you really only seem to find RP either in the Fleets (bleh) or hidden away inside Guild strongholds while plenty of other cool corners of that game remain unused.
  15. Saw it coming a mile away. Dude was driving with his high beams on. Nearly blinded me but I still saw this damn spoiler.
  16. Tristram and his relationship with the Shroud. Stupid hippy highlander.
  17. Walter Koenig Sam Neill Andrew Lincoln Amy Winehouse (And born same year) Also, Grace Kelly and Patrick Swayze died on my birthday.
  18. Dunno. Could still be XIII-esq with a better cinematic camera. Folks thought the same thing when they saw the Lightning action sequence when it was revealed. Still, TBD on if this will be worth the hyping or not for me ... though if they use the full orchestral work for this. YUM.
  19. Well if you are into frivolous anorexic busty space lesbians with a kink for side drama and tears... Go for it I guess. I never played Eve but it honestly sounds like a scary place! It's not so scary once you get past the learning curve ...
  20. Folks chatted about this in one the RP linkshells I haunt during that last event. Notably major props/kudos/gil to all the folks in keeping the event running and smoother than a lala's backside from many, many parties in there.. Fighters, spectators and all really seem to appreciate the effort. It is one of the server's top social events by far (at least for me.) The blood, sweat, and insanity is seriously appreciated.
  21. Process the the thought this way, if you might: If you seek it, you will likely find it sooner or later. If you don' might well still happen anyway, at least in the interest of other characters seeking yours. I really think the person you were having a conversation with was just painting a picture based upon either their own preferences and/or confirmation bias. Might be better to go out into the game world and build your own bias. Having roleplayed probably for far, far too long online ... my observation over the years is that is has become much more mainstream among roleplayers to do this, especially in the open. Back in the EQ days, it happened, but it was generally a private affair. I really started to notice the transition myself back in EvE online. Not a bad thing, just that the culture has shifted quite a bit in this area from my view. The whole relationship status thing is a flag or hook in my mind. Stated the status notes you are open to relationship rp, while the status itself notes the current state or if you are available for a romance "hook" coin a storyteller term. Here it's in the open, and a fair amount of folks seem to be doing it as they see fit. However it's not so blantly overt I feel like I am wondering about a Gorian sim in Second Life, and there's plenty of good RP plot and adventure as well as a great atmosphere, as you stated.
  22. Oh the "face claim" game or whatever you kids call it. Tristram would probably fall close to Thomas Kretschmann, hair color aside obviously:
