Seriphyn Posted April 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2015 The Sultana is not dead but very ill with the Syndicate in control as far as the masses are concerned. If you ask how fare the Sultansworn as a lvl50 PLD and have completed 2.55, Jenlyns says this at the end of his usual spiel. "There have been other tales told in recent days, of course, but no one with an onze of common sense pays them any heed. If Her Grace were not convalsecing from illness, she would surely put an end to this madness. Alas, in her absence, the Monetarists are firmly in control..." After asking "Who are the Monetarists?" he says... "After everything that has happened, you ask me this? You should know full well that the Monetarists are a faction within the Syndicate - the organization which wields greater influence than the sultana herself. Their grip on power has never been stronger, now that General Raubahn has been confined to the Marasaja Pit for his crimes at the royal banquet. I fear that until the sultana recovers from her illness, Lord Lolorito and his minions will face little opposition. Yet it may be some time before that comes to pass. Her condition is so serious that even I have been denied an audience..." Link to comment
Seriphyn Posted April 1, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted April 1, 2015 From Commander Swift... "Marshal Tarupin bade me relay this message to you. All knowledge of the incident is being withheld from the public, and things shall remain as they were in Ul'dah...at least on the surface. You doubtless burn to act - to see justice served. So do we all. However, we must bide our time, for a single misstep could trigger a civil war, and Ul'dah would tear itself apart." Link to comment
Wymsical Posted April 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2015 Adding these by request. Landebert: When a nation shakes, lowly folk like us are the first to feel it. Mark my words: something bad's happened in Ul'dah. Landebert: The high lords and ladies are being tight-lipped about it, but that only serves to reveal how dire the situation is. I don't know what's afoot right now, but it'll lead to no good end. Muttering Merchant: Since the victory feast, one consortium after another has been going under, and with nary any warning. Only the Syndicate has the power to do such a thing, but to what end? Could the rumors of revolution be true? Nervous Nanny: Is it just me, or are there more soldiers on the streets of late? Everywhere I go, I feel as though I'm being watched. It's downright unsettling, I tell you. Garrulous Gossipmonger: Oi, did ye hear? Some adventurer─an' a bleedin' famous one at that─went on a rampage durin' the victory feast. Fair tore down the Fragrant Chamber, 'tis said. Rumor has it (s)he's an imperial spy sent to do for the sultana. Crystal Brave: You shouldn't be here! If they find you, they'll arrest you like they did the others! Crystal Brave: Look, I didn't see you, alright? If you know what's good for you, you'll put a hundred malms between yourself and Ul'dah. Momodi: Twelve be praised, you're still alive and well! When I started hearin' rumors about what happened at the feast, I didn't know what to think. Momodi: I tried gettin' answers, but the Brass Blades've made their rounds. Folk around here're carryin' on as though naught's changed. Momodi: But deep down, they know it's a lie. It's only a matter of time before the questions come, and Lord Lolorito better have some good answers by then... Rand: We've received some peculiar orders of late: we're to report any sightings of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Rand: I...I don't understand. Aren't they the ones who oppose the Empire and fight the primals? Aren't they on our side? 2 Link to comment
Michikyou Posted April 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2015 With these changes to the story - is there per chance anything that should be reflected in roleplay stances? I know for one that Gin herself will be very apprehensive of going to Ul'dah with the influx of soliders. I also need a bucket for all my tears. Link to comment

Chances are, unless you RP as the WoL or as some for of Flame/Blade law enforcement (or maybe a Monetarist), your average cityperson/adventurer may have noticed the influx of guards, but no other news. ...that's how I'm treating it at least. I don't think people would exactly spread rumors that the Sultana has been murdered by the MSQ hero. Link to comment

At least rumors if nothing else. Link to comment
Aduu Avagnar Posted April 1, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 1, 2015 no doubt they have a half baked excuse as to why the Blades are guarding it. this stuck out to me: Crystal Brave: You shouldn't be here! If they find you, they'll arrest you like they did the others! They'll arrest you like they did the others. This to me says that some of the Scions may have been arrested, rather than killed (looking at Papalymo and Yda.) Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted April 1, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2015 The Sultana is definitely dead. Jenylns says that "even he isn't granted an audience" which means he doesn't know. He's been fed the lie of her death as 'sickness' and bought it. As far as RPers go, Swift's statement that "You doubtless burn to act - to see justice served. So do we all." says to me that he's pissed underneath his exterior as well, and I can easily see that he'd be reaching out to trusted current or former members of the Flames to let them know what's happened. Because I can see open warfare coming and I'm sure he can too. Link to comment
Erik Mynhier Posted April 1, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 1, 2015 I am so glad I started the process of moving Erik out of the Sworn. I have been talking to people about it alot lately. IC I would say Erik knows just what everyone else does.... nothing beyond public knowledge. His Sworn title is mostly for the sake of his current job. It seems though people are aware of the General's spot in the slammer. That seems to be the common knowledges from what I read above. Link to comment

He's been fed the lie of her death as 'sickness' and bought it. Of course she's dead (as far as we know - they might pull a "yoink, gotcha!" thing with her in 3.0 later), but her sickness is the official story fed to the public for the time being. This to me says that some of the Scions may have been arrested, rather than killed (looking at Papalymo and Yda.) Yeah, I figure most of the no-name/small-name Scions were arrested. As for Yda, Papalymo, Thancred, Y'Shtola and Minfilia... You don't think they're really dead, do you? I think it's blatantly obvious their "sacrifice" was a fake-out and that we'll see them again in 3.0. I'll be extremely surprised if any of them will actually be confirmed dead. Link to comment
Maril Posted April 1, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 1, 2015 "Ah, my faithful assistant. Though the details have quite slipped my mind, I was told you were involved in some outrageous incident at the royal palace. Why waste your time on such frivolities, when you could be exploring the uncharted regions of advanced alchemy!? If any seek to interrupt your research, then you need merely douse the knave with the most suitable concoction at hand! Mwahaha! The practical application of results is at the heart of our dicipline!" - Severian, Alchemist guildmaster "Ah, Miss Quill. We meet again. ... Mayhap you wonder why I do not call for the Brass blades? Please. Your virtue is more intact than that of a maiden at the altar. So-- What brings you here today?" - Weaver guildmaster "Nailah! What in Thal's name are you doing here!? You're wanted by the Brass Blades! Look, all of us here at the guild will help you in whatever way we can But there's only so much we can do. Promise you'll lay low, alright?" - Adalberta, Miner GM "Nailah! Are the rumors true? Are you the victim of a vast conspiracy!? Oh dear, I probably shouldn't speak so loudly... I've given thought to how we might distract your pursuers. Perhaps a mammet fashion in your image which nods at regular intervals? No? Hmmm... I was rather proud of that idea... " - Serendipity, Goldsmith GM The last one, beyond being useful for rumors, made me laugh It seems there's some knowledge going about among the GM's of the crafter guilds. I spoke to the THM guild as well but there was no reaction there. Based on this I'd be inclined to believe those of a higher social status might have a better clue that something is definitely up since GM's are pretty influential and that. However it could very well be that they would not speak of this to any other than the hero of light. There are similar reaction with any craft or gather GM in the other city states, though these are a bit more muted and not so detailed. Link to comment
Ryanti Posted April 1, 2015 Share #12 Posted April 1, 2015 Okay, so, let me try to see if I can sum this up as bluntly as a I can so I feel like I kindamaybesortof understand this. 1.) People on all levels are hearing rumors of something bad happening in Ul'Dah. 2.) The merchant nobles/upper class know something bad has happened and might know the truth, but aren't telling anyone, anything. 3.) The Brass Blades, as an organization, are evil. 4.) The Immortal Flames oppose the Brass Blades. 5.) Normal Flames would not know the news, High Ranking Flames like Swift would. 6.) The Sultansworn are in the dark about what happened. 7.) Businesses are being shut down. Is that all right? Link to comment

Kellach Woods Posted April 1, 2015 Share #14 Posted April 1, 2015 They'll arrest you like they did the others. This to me says that some of the Scions may have been arrested, rather than killed (looking at Papalymo and Yda.) Or the Braves that weren't following the plot. Keep in mind, only the 1st and the 3rd were directly controlled. 2nd and the 4th could have been in on it, but were pretty hands off about the thing. I personally know that Kellach would not view the addition of more brass blades as anything good. 1 Link to comment

I personally know that Kellach would not view the addition of more brass blades as anything good. Good catch about the 2nd and 4th. I also remember a few Brass Blades in the Ul'Dah starting quests during the level 15 range. There was a few bad apples, but also really good people. Like the Lalafell who became a Captain or whatnot in Horizon. I'm not exactly convinced that the 2nd and 4th didn't have a part in it, but there's certainly members of the Brass Blades that wouldn't do something like this, or are being forced to in fear of their livelihoods. I hope you have not suffered undue harassment at the hands of my men! (I received no explanation as to why you were to be detained, but even if I had, I would not believe it. Only the Syndicate has the power to do such a thing, but to what end? Could the rumors of revolution be true? For players of rich Ul'dahn merchant families this is something that can be used. It sounds to me like Lolorito and certain factions of the Syndicate are now forcing the smaller merchant groups out of business or strongarming them to do so etc. Link to comment
H'malosi Dinhe Posted April 1, 2015 Share #22 Posted April 1, 2015 Ahhh, dark tidings! Thankfully, Malosi has made herself comfortable outside of Ul'dah, of late. Sounsyy Posted April 2, 2015 Share #25 Posted April 2, 2015 Good finds in Ul'dah! I went to Limsa to see if any of the Maelstrom heard anything from Merlwyb. Unfortunately, the gateguard for Merlwyb's office had nothing to offer but, word's also reached Limsa: The Admiral informed me of your unjust treatment at the hands of the Ul'dahns. 'Tis not a tale known by many - the report was given only to the Maelstrom's upper echelons' date=' so you'll not need to explain yourself to every commander on the street. If I ever come across the scoundrels who framed you, however, they will certainly be explaining themselves to me![/quote'] Sounsyy! The rumor mill's been spinnin' full tilt, but I see yer 'ead's still attached to yer body. Them Ul'dahn bastards got some nerve pinnin' that shite-stained accusation on the bloody hero of Eorzea. Limsa might be full o' pirates and cutthroats, but Thanalan's got its fair share o black-hearted villains, an' that's the gods honest truth. Ah, but I'd best reel in me tongue afore I get ye into more strife. The Wench is full o' unfamiliar faces these days, and more'n a few of 'em make me nose twitch..." Sounsyy. You should know that we've had visitors to the [Coral Tower]' date=' offering heavy purses for information on your movements. A futile effort. Once they realized that your loyal guildmates would sooner hack off their own arms than betray you, they took their sordid coin elsewhere.[/quote'] It does me well to see you' date=' my friend, and none the worse for your recent ordeal. Know that the Admiral unequivocally believes in your innocence - as do we all. While you are on Lominsan soil, you are under our protection. Nonetheless, I urge you to remain on constant guard wherever you go. There is no telling where agents of Ul'dah may be lurking.[/quote'] - - - Next I went to Gridania. I really wanted to go talk to Y'mhitra to see if she had anything new to say about her sister's fate. But sadly, no mention. Nor does she talk about events in Ul'dah. She doesn't know. =/ But then again... I kinda got the vibe that Y'shtola and Y'mhitra are estranged for some time. Anyways, back to pertinents! I went to Stillglade Fane to seek an audience with Kan-E. Unlike in Limsa where the gateguard had nothing to tell me, the Silent Conjurer outside the Lotus Stand said this: I am afraid I cannot grant you entry to the Lotus Stand at this time. I will' date=' however, say that the Elder Seedseer is doing all within her power to assist you in your plight. Have faith, my friend.[/quote'] The Elder Seedseer has told me of the treachery that took place in Ul'dah. Though I will continue to question them' date=' the Elementals seem blind to the whereabouts of the missing Scions...[/quote'] We are aware of the vile accusations leveled against you. Suffice it to say we give them no credit. As ever' date=' [b']you are welcome here in Gridania, and may continue about your business unhindered. The Elder Seedseer herself has decreed this. And though we cannot offer you much in the way of assistance, so long as you have the freedom to act, we do not doubt that you will soon put matters to rights. May the Elementals watch over you. My friend! 'Tis a relief to see you alive and well! Word reached me of what occurred in Ul'dah' date=' and I had feared the worst. But rest assured you are safe here. All of us in Gridania who know you doubt not your innocence. [b']Even as we speak, the [Adventurers' Guild] is deliberating ways in which we may offer you support in this difficult time. So do not lose heart, and keep fighting the good fight! That was all for Gridania. So it looks like the whole incident is being rather hush-hush in the other city-states. Merlwyb and Kan-E have both offered you asylum to the upper echelons of the Maelstrom and the Twin Adders. But unlike in Ul'dah, word has not yet spread to the common folk. Even the guild leaders in Gridania especially seem to be much less aware of the situation than those in Limsa? As multiple guild leaders in Limsa said they were visited by folks looking for me, Bounty Hunters or Brass Blades or Crystal Braves I don't yet know. - - - Anyways, off to Mor Dhona! You're safe' date=' thank the gods! I heard about what took place in Ul'dah - of the terrible things they said you did. Well, it goes without saying that I don't believe a word of it. I promise to do all I can to track down your fellow Scions. Knowing that you managed to escape unscathed, I'm hopeful of the others' survival.[/quote'] You... Easy now' date=' friend - I'll not raise the alarm. I'm not fool enough to believe the rumors. That said, I cannot well let you pass. Orders are orders.[/quote'] ...It's you! When the Crystal Braves stormed in and closed off the Rising Stones with nary an explanation' date=' I feared the worst. I'm relieved that [i']you are safe, at least. You look as though you've been through the seventh hell itself, and I'd love to offer you our hospitality, but 'twould be unwise for you to linger. There's no telling who may be watching. Thank Rhalgr' date=' you're safe! I was watchin' when they stormed the Risin' Stones. [b']The way your comrades were bein' manhandled, you would've thought they were criminals o' the worst order. That ain't no way to treat the heroes what saved the realm! What in the hells is goin' on...? Interesting finds all in all! Hope this helps! It appears as though if you aren't an upper-ranking Grand Company officer, you aren't going to know much about this outside of Ul'dah. Rumormill NPCs have been added throughout the streets in Ul'dah, so I take that to mean its kind of the talk of the town. How much is common knowledge dunno. Seems there's a lot of misinformation going out and most of it seems to be trying to focus on the WoL and Scions being bad and less about the condition of the Sultana. Also Momodi seemed to have put the word out in the Adventurer's Guild, so the upper tiers there likely know somethings up as well. The guild leaders with the most pertinent info are also those directly tied to the GC heads - ie. E-Sumi-Yan in Gridania and Wyrnzoen and Reyner in Limsa. Link to comment
