HAI! *Wave waves* I think the only thing I need help with most is the bio. I haven't gotten in game yet so I'm not in the complete... O0O OH SHIT WHAT DO I DO?! Mode then get all shy and stuff and be all quiet. I'm not sure if there's others stuff I need help with yet though. There might be stuff I didn't even know I needed help with.

New to FF, experienced RPer.

Basically, I'd like a mentor to help me weed through the culture/lore and... when I eventually get IG.. hopefully help me integrate?

 

And thanks for being so welcoming to the new people that will be joining you 'Legacies'.

 

Oh lastly... I've not received a Beta key yet, but my friend is in Beta and says that Phase 4 will be "Open" so... I should get in *eventually* before launch.

 

I don't know enough right now to ask a specific person to mentor me... and, I'm kinda shy... haha... so anyway. If anyone is interested, most of my info is on the intro thread...

Hello. First time ever rping on an mmo, but at 19 I have quite a few years of forum rping and pen and paper as well. I'm not... particular about mentors and W'Dekan is extremely flexible as far as getting along with people. I'd love to be mentored until I learn enough to turn around and help the next new guy. Pay it forward, in a sense. My main questions are going to stem from lore and basically setting myself up. I look forward to a fun future rping and gaming with you all.

Hello,

 I am quite new to both the RPC and FFXIV, but not so new to RP. I would like someone that wouldn't mind helping me flush out my character before launch so that he not only meshes with Lore, but is ready to jump into the world of Eorzea when the game launches.

I may not be of much help as far as FFXIV lore is concerned but I would be glad to look over character ideas for other people as well. I have my B.A. in English and will be working on my Masters in Library Sciences (I just love a good tale that much).

I'd be really interested in getting a mentor. I just recently stopped lurking and started to get involved with the community. Definitely looking forward to delving deeply into the lore. Ultimately though, I feel like I'm going to need a lot of help and guidance since I'm kind of a beginner.

 

After perusing the blurbs each mentor gave, I came to hard decision (I'd kinda like to learn from everyone. Haha). If you aren't super busy Endemerrin, I'd like for you to be my mentor.

Hey Guys,

 

New to the forums and new to XIV but i've been playing mmo's for a number of years now.  The RP side always interested me but I was never able to start as my friends were not into it at all.  I have a number of years experience on and of with pen and paper RP's but I'm a little hesitant on how to start with this version of the game as its been a few years since I have even done that.

 

I'd be happy if someone would take me under their wing, show me the ropes and really help me get my teeth into the lore.  I've been reading what I can on the lore forums and wiki's but its one thing to read and another to do.  

 

 

 

As for my character his name is Khaze'to Zhwan,  Hes the 2nd son of Khaze Zhwan and like most male keepers doesn't have much rank or importance.  He stayed with the family group for a long time as a general hunter and is skilled with the spear and the bow.  

 

The wanderlust that most people get in their younger years didn't hit Khaze'to till much later and so in his middling years has decided its time to go for a walk.  He is calm and patient and likes to think about things before he acts, hes in no rush and generally takes things in his stride.  He does get a little agitated when people think because he is an adventurer he is young and inexperienced with his weapons.  I guess you could say hes looking for someone to explore the world with rather than fight of the big bad as he has only known the woods of the black shroud.  

 

Anyway if anyone feels like taking a stroll rather than a run through Eorzea with Khaze'to send me a PM.

It sounds sheepish and stupid, but I wouldn't mind working with a mentor. I'm basically looking to be a drug-dealing miqo'te guy that's charismatic but kind of no-nonsense. I don't know if this appeals to any of the mentors in particular or not, and I've RPed before, so most of what I really need to know is related to the lore - what kinds of 'drugs' are available, and how I best can skirt around "the law" and such. If this sounds like your thing, I guess let me know or PM me. I'm open to thoughts n stuff.

This is terribly helpful for me. FF14 will be my second MMO ever and my first try at RPing ever. In fact just inquiring about this will be a major step for me. I'm quite shy about starting new things like this you see. :blush:

I don't know if this is still in effect.. I think it is, cause there're mentors with no mentees, and the thread isn't locked.

 

I'd be willing to mentor as well.. I like to consider myself very adept in the ways of the RP. I'm a legacy player, though I lost my account info and my authenticator.. And can't access my legacy account.. >.> But, all that aside.

 

I'm in my mid 20's. I've been gaming since I was.. 10ish. PC games since about 14 or so, starting back in the AOL days. Remember this one online, web-based game that had people throwing little blue balls of magic, and it was all PvP. But, I digress.

 

I've RPed in WoW, Tabula Rasa, The Old Republic, Guildwars, Guildwars 2, Hellgate: London, Age of Conan, and various mud's/mucks (Text based RP engines. Major oldschool.)  

 

I find myself to be a little jaded in my experience these days.. I don't like terrible grammar in a game where text is the primary medium of communication. I don't like overly 'silly' RP, or overly 'dramatic' stuff. Find a happy middleground, make it fun and interesting without being annoying.

EDIT: Oh. It occured to me, I should mention Kaln. The character in front of the player.

 

He's an Elezen Pugilist. He hits things with his hands, and enjoys it. He's not.. Mean, perse, he just enjoys a good fight. He enjoys putting ones body to the test, pushing it, and improving. He's quiet, is not a fan of large cities, and.. I'd put him in the chaotic-good/neutral area. I've got another friend coming over, Loc Talon, who will be starting up a Linkshell that was around back in 1.0, The Midnight Covenant. I'll probably join up with him, and Kaln will have a backstory that inbeds himself into that particular LS. I was highly interested in Loc Talon's group - The Midnight Covenant - back in 1.0. I will be again, I think. Back then it was geared as a sort of "duskwight-only" group, but I don't know if that's still the aim. Regardless, I'll be keeping an ear to the ground one way or the other!

So, I'd be looking for a mentor who can stand a total newbie in terms of rp. I could use some tips with fine-tuning my character and writing replies. My online times vary between 03:00-17:00 EST, 10:00-00:00 GMT +2.

I'm a 21 years old finnish girl, working in a job with both morning and evening shifts. When not at work I really enjoy drawing, games, planning anything rp and seeking out new stuff to try. My interests tends to fall after two weeks of solely dedicating my time to them, which can be a pain. FF XIV has stuck though which I'm happy about. Maybe it would improve my skill with English. For others I might come out shy, but I do like new people and socializing T_T.

Aha! Excellent. I'm glad to see there are people that remember it, and might still be interested. I need to talk to him again, and remind him that the site here is still active, so he can hop back in and get to work. He was trying to get in game during the beta weekend, but didn't start downloading the client and such untill saturday night.

I could definitely use a mentor for roleplaying mechanics and story. I feel a bit shy and rusty when it comes to roleplaying. It seems like a combination of writer's block, and just overall fear that I don't fully understand the the FFXIV lore enough to create a really compelling character.

 

I use to roleplay on FFXI, and had a really expanded Elvaan Paladin character, but I feel like it's time to start fresh and would love some guidance!
