  2. The first few arrows had perceivably, dug deeply into the beast's flesh and it's agony was evident. Each subsequent shot from both her and her tribekin seemed to only infuriate and invigorate it further as it's wails and thrashing grew more rebellious, more violent. Her mind had been so uncharacteristically focused on that one, single task of shooting at her target that her mind had numbed to her normally, very keen sense of awareness, so much so that K'iara's moment of struggle had gone completely unnoticed by her. It wasn't until the third or fourth shot, long after she had already verified her hunch that she managed a fragile a smirk in contentment. She was beginning to feel that familiar rush of adrenaline, the rush of a true hunt that she missed ever so dearly. It was odd that she seemingly had to focus so hard to achieve that feeling now, to disembody herself like she did, though perhaps it was a side effect of what was to happen next. ("....!") K'nahli retracted as a sudden image had appeared before the girl's mind spontaneously, completely disarming her. She stared ahead blankly at the rampaging foe for a few seconds longer, momentarily oblivious to what was occurring around her and uncertain of what had just happened before she was suddenly revisited by yet another image, a scene from her memory a very, short while ago; when her father had her pinned down, challenging her and forcing words from her lips. ("..........!") This time the flashbacks seemed almost too real, so intense that the girl no longer saw the dangers before her and was blinded by her own self-concern. Her jaw slacked slightly in disbelief, wordless as she was for such distracting thoughts. It were almost as though her mind were battling with her will to erase the encounter from memory, a shattering reminder that even now where she thought she could lose herself in the thrill of the hunt that nothing could shake her from the horrible sin that she had falsely confessed to her father. ("........?") Did someone call out to her just now? She wasn't even sure anymore, though it mattered little, for it were already far, too late by the time she had finally seen it coming. "....tch!" K'nahli had tilted her head in time to see another large bull that had come charging out from the darkness towards her from her flank, breaking away from the main pack with speed as it sought to help the targeted cub. Though it wasn't a full-sized adult, the animal was still quite massive in comparison to the average miqo'te, certainly large enough to easily kill anything their size were they foolish enough to stand in it's path. K'nahli's eyes shot open. There was hardly enough time for even a mere thought to cross her mind before, instinctively, the girl attempted to thrust herself back out of harm's way with all the strength that she had, propelling herself backwards with only her legs. Though evading the attack entirely was no longer a possibility, K'nahli's natural reflexes and agility served her well to throw herself as far away as she possibly could before the imminent collision. *THUMP* The cracking pain that smashed powerfully into her side could be felt in every bone throughout her body. The mighty collision had sent the world spinning around her as the girl was thrown aside and sent tumbling harshly across the barren floor. "Eyaaaaagghhugh..!!" she gasped uncontrollably as her already-battered body slammed into the ground before coming to an eventual stop. Other than some small scrapes across her wrists from where her bare arms slid against the ground in a weak attempt to slow her tumble, the only wound visible was hidden beneath her hairline, a benign yet deep cut as a result of hitting the ground that was only made evident through the mapping traces of blood that were slowly painting an expanding, crimson streak above her eye. "...Gyahh! ....agh..." K'nahli whimpered in agony as she clutched a hand against her hip where the beast's solid skull had struck her. The pain that radiated throughout her was at that moment was incredibly fierce, having left the girl feeling as though every bone in her entire body had been shattered. Most of the pain remained at the point of impact, but the weakness it seemed to roll on outward to the rest of her body was overwhelming. "Tsss....sss-ahah.." the girl moaned weakly while writhing, face-down on the ground as she vainly attempted to return to her feet shakily. It was clear that the girl hadn't even a fraction of the strength needed to push her body more than a few ilms from the ground, even in spite of her stubborn efforts. She panted slowly but heavily, clawing her right hand that was anchored across the ground before her until her fingers dug deeply into the sand-like gravel beneath. Unable to raise her head right away, the girl gazed down into the soil with a dizzied expression. She blinked numerous times before attempting to lightly shake her head in a naive attempt to clear her vision and only serving to discomfort herself further. Given little time to so much as fully assess her own state, a low but distinctly aggressive groan from what she assumed could only be her assailant suddenly caught the girl's attention - just as the ringing in her ears had slowly begun to subside. With great effort, the girl forced her head upwards to meet eyes with the beast's vengeful glare. K'nahli scowled angrily, fully aware of the highly, dangerous predicament she had landed herself in. Her strength was slowly returning to her as some of the pain could be felt subsiding, though it would certainly not be enough to alleviate her before the beast charged again. With no reason to hesitate, it already seemed like a hopeless situation - even with her sisters nearby. Even if she had somehow summoned the strength to do so, she certainly couldn't handle throwing herself to the ground again to dodge it's attack without seriously crippling her already defeated state. And her bow.... where was it? Almost entirely throwing the imminent threat to the back of her mind, the girl's eyes quickly scoured the ground around her in search of her precious weapon, though not a moment later were her eyes stolen forward once again as another menacing growl announced the beginning of a second charge. K'nahi's eyes grew wide with fear as the animal came thundering toward her with unrelenting speed. Her senses were still quite dazed though she couldn't tell if anyone had even realised that she had been hit, let alone had been in peril - and most appeared to still be engaged with the first animal and even a third that had also seemingly joined the fray. K'nahli shifted against her injury one final time in a weak attempt to test her strength again, though it was no use. "Ayah...haha..." she whimpered agitatedly with a voice that almost seemed more preoccupied with wanting to hide it's own weakness than expressing her quickly-mounting fears. The girl's maroon eyes followed her aggressor's closely with a lingering flare of malice. Somehow, to the girl, merely refusing to allow herself to appear weak and frightened before a beast, no.. her prey..... to allow it to think that it had crushed a cowering predator was absolutely unacceptable; it was a thought that seemed to prevail above all else. That perpetual flare of rebellion that had always served as part of what carried K'nahli through such encounters was not something that even seemed to by quenched beneath the lapping waves of fear. Her expression, however, seemed to contort strangely then; revealing something which appeared to be an odd mixture of both acceptance and disgust before at last, the girl allowed herself to flinch subtly as she took her eyes away from what was undoubtedly, her approaching death.
  3. Perhaps this is an example that would be considered an exclusion for a few reasons but it is the only one that comes directly to mind: K'mih Yohko. Her attire is obviously quite revealing in some sense(and considering that some people think that an unzipped jacket and a partial glimpse at the top of a pair of breasts is revealing, I think it's a fair call) and so I think it's debatable to say that she has some ... appeal. Now, specific, personal feelings and knowledge of her creator aside, I don't relate her even REMOTELY to something that is objectified and there to be ogled. So I am very well aware that not everything is there for certain purposes nor do I treat just any female character that shows some skin as such; though it's usually easy to tell when it was the intent of the creator's to make a character alluring in an objective sense. Actually, I'd say the same about a scantly-armoured, female, castanic character from Tera; a race whom were certainly designed to be "sexy" in my opinion. Back to the case of K'mih, given that it's my character's sister, I have even less ability to view her in such a way and I am even defensive in that aspect(I even had to censor a very normal term just now for my own sake), but objectively I can admit that I find her character incredibly cute and that does translate to.... physically attractive too. I fan over K'mih in a similar way that I fan over my friend's lala character, however, because she is simply so, incredibly adorable, in spite of her(K'mih's) obviously, beautifully-designed character(in my opinion). Ironically, I have more "love-attraction" to my friend's more modestly-clothed and "plain"(tons of emphasis on those inverted commas) character because I am free of family relations ICly. Anyways, perhaps we shouldn't veer too far off-topic as you have said, despite the fact the topic has been going that way for a while if I recall correctly. As one final note however, if anyone does decide to reply to anything I have said here and reference K'mih. Should you disagree to any level or simply feel the need to display your admiration for her design, please mind your choice words ^^ ;;;; It may sound weird and over the top, but I hold a serious dislike for even the tame comments and it'd annoy me further for having almost 'invited' it..
  4. There are a lot of people who just play games for the gameplay and skip through stories, cutscenes and such so I imagine those kind of people will just see eye candy for all it is that it can possibly off their style of gaming; eye candy. I usually dislike girls/women in games that are portrayed as overly sexy and revealing because it feels like the creators are pandering to males in general as though we were some weak-minded and inferior breed that need some sexual dynamic to keep our attention for long enough.
  5. Howwww did I not notice this?! What a ridiculous oversight that was, hahaha. That makes a lot more sense. The dual-clan thing just went completely over my head. As far as males go at least, I like the "Sunseekers", but whether I make a male(or an Au Ra at all for that matter) is still an uncertainty for me. I'd like to have made one with my friend but she'll have an unrelated RP story with another group of people and I don't feel partial to RP'ing out in the wild with strangers, so that demotivates me a little, haha. I have not played a LOT of online games but I can imagine how disappointing it must be. While I like the females of this new race I would definitely like to have seen a more feral type as well. The only way to really address this issue is to, of course, have a better character customization system so it can cater to a lot more preferences than just a particular type of person. FFXIV has some really beautiful models and I am very happy with my own characters as well as my friends' characters, but I will never say that the character creator is anything more than something "that gets the job done".
  6. You can feel however you please as that is not something anyone should allow themselves to get worked up over, but don't expect not to be found unfair for blaming the devs for doing something "wrong"(calling them lazy implies it) and not be called upon by people who find your unfair comments.... well, unfair. After all, it is an arbitrary and direct criticism of the devs taken from 0 known facts about why the chose the design they did... and an indirect criticism towards those who really like how the class turned out. Call it petty if you wish but there is a significant difference between "feeling" something was lazily designed and "declaring" it to be the case. I'd argue that even "feeling" such would be a prejudicially, misplaced concept but this, to me, is really feeling increasingly redundant as something to debate over because, as you said, it's largely irrelevant to the topic at hand. (Again Ashren, I apologise if I am misrepresenting your opinion from earlier). Edit: To use the person's post as an example, she basically shared the sentiment as those who called the design lazy, without essentially calling the choice "bad" or "improper". The word "lazy" just strikes a bad chord with people because it sounds less like a personal opinion and more like some sort of suggested, negative fact.
  7. I don't think it was suggested that he didn't like these characters; just that there were so many in one game that it made it too unrealistic for his tastes. Nor do I think that he was implying that his personal views on what looks nice and what doesn't were better than the typical, eastern perspective - that is assuming that he even prefers the "rougher" look, I do not know if he specified.
  8. That's where your argument holds no objective merit in my eyes. You are insisting that races should always command some consistent aesthetic across the genders to conform to your standards or interests, and that is your opinion and your preference. The fact that females are not very similar to the males in height and their lack of largely-pronounced features does not make the developers lazy. No-one whom likes the race cares enough to be offended that you or anyone else does not feel similarly, nor does the case apply in vice versa; what Ashren was talking about(and correct me if I am wrong, Ashren), is that you are very, unfairly throwing negative comments towards the developers because their chosen design didn't appeal to your standards or expectations. You and many other people were hoping for something that in the end, did not deliver. You have every right to be disappointed and even to be disgruntled by the similarities between Au Ra females and existing female races, but your(plural) dissatisfaction with that does not translate into laziness on anyone's part. "Laziness" carries a very, obviously negative connotation since it implies that they deliberately didn't put enough time, creativity or effort into the female race. You can never know enough to decide that is the case and make such an accusation. As far as you know, and I am very sure is the case, Square Enix designed a race that would and has successfully appealed to people, just not everyone; and that can never be avoided.
  9. All of theeeeeeeeeeeese. Warren invades my mind. Seriously though, I have a vicious, pet peeve, hate for people who macro skills for no good reason. I mean okay, resurrections are good to know... bard songs/Battle Voice are also a handy indicator for Requiem in particular... not so much Mage Ballad(unless you're looking for a pat on the back for playing your job correctly!). What else.... Hallowed Ground is totally unnecessary as far as I know. If your health gets dangerously low and the healer is a bit late then they're not just going to give up and not try to heal you before you very, clearly die, they don't need the warning that they still have ten seconds to heal you! Silences..... we don't need to know you have silenced a damn boss unless it's some coil content or whatever that has a rotation and you're with randoms! >O< I suppose this is a controversial one but I don't wholly understand the need to alert people to a Provoke either @A@ Who does that help? Any DPS should know to stop if they get aggro anyways unless that was for any reason in their plan for whatever content there is out there(and even then they'd be smart enough to know when to stop) and a healer isn't going to risk anything by not healing either! *rabble* *rabble* *rabble* Perhaps my moodiness is showing just a bit! Yes, oh my God. I don't want to start a relationship with you people, but Jesus Christ say "hello" and "goodbye" to your party members at the very least. It's common courtesy.
  10. My friend asked me what the collector's edition actually is with regards those rewards..... is it the existing one or a collector's version of the expansion? I'm not very familiar with how these things work so I can't be sure enough to make an educated guess.
  11. Ahah, I hope you didn't take that as even the mildest form of criticism/disapproval ^^ ; I have never dealt with dice rolls and the idea in general typically turns me off so it's nothing to do with how you decided to plan it. It's probably for the best anyways, as you have said (^^)
  12. No one's surprised to see me posting this, I bet. That's all arguably subjective, though. Gladiator is based around training with a sword and shield: Rampart and Sentinel could be waved away as tightening up your defenses to protect against specific attacks or dangers. The color burst effects on attacks could be video-game components of flashy attacks to make it interesting to look at. Fists of Wind and Earth could arguably be acknowledged as the beginnings of a fighter's chakra beginning to open in accordance with the Monk storyline. After all, we never see pugilist enemies using those stances. Aether is a tool that not everyone is able to channel to the capacity as the MSQ Heroes. That's why aetheryte travel isn't readily available to everyone in the land, otherwise trade caravans would cease to exist. I don't even need to post my opinion anymore because Warren, once again, did it for me. I don't take game skills literally as they appear; they are, after all, meant to be representations of something else more times than not as well as something to appeal to the "ooo, flashy skill" side of us when we actually play the game instead of roleplaying it. I guess I sort of did anyways just now... but it didn't need to be dragged out at least! In any case, none of my characters are job classes nor do any of them use magical/aether abilities. K'nahli Yohko is a very, regular archer. Though young, she's talented since she has spent a long time dedicating her free time to training as the bow is her passion, but she won't be firing two arrows simultaneously at a target that isn't a massive creature where range and accuracy are not a concern. Andre Winter isn't a "gladiator" as we know the term outside of the class name, but he uses a sword and shield and was training to join the Sultansworn one day as his father had hoped for him, he never got around to seeing that through though due to an unfortunate incident. Alex Hawthorn is a mercenary whom wields a large axe. He's powerful and very talented but he doesn't use super amazing attacks, nor does he throw tomahawks or anything of the kind. I would like for him to be a sword wielder too on less-than-frequent occasions, so instead of making a new character come Heavenward, I may simply give the Dark Knight class to him since it seems rather fitting for a number of reasons. Lulani Manani is a young and silly, little lalafel whom wields a sword and shield but is very inexperienced and clumsy. He is not much of a force to be reckoned with. Tayo Thorne is more of an NPC character than anything, but he used to be a lancer in his day and worked as a mercenary before settling down to a simple life where he earns his coin through carpentry. Nothing special to his fighting style either.
  13. This sounds like a really fun idea(it appealed to the airsoft/paintball side in me) but sadly I am personally not interested in the dice roll aspect so I will refrain from participating myself, albeit I may take a look some time just to see how it plays out. Good luck with the event! ^^
  14. Exactly, but sometimes I feel that this miqo'te popularity is the reason why people who aren't "fans" of the race make weird and harsh comments about them. Not that I find it personally insulting or anything, but it's one of those stupid things that annoy me for being so arbitrarily... stupid, haha ; Especially since hyurs don't get any flak despite being more prevalent across all datacentres. It could be a fair argument to say that I have been reading too much liveletter, stream comments and shout chat debates, ahaha. Edit: Foxling wasn't suggesting it was a bad or unusual thing. She was simply wondering if they'd become the new popular race in place of/alongside miqo'te.
  15. I didn't suggest that it was your intent.
  16. Is this a forum and/or game issue, if I may ask?
  17. I can't speak for individual servers, but on both Japanese and the combined populations of North American & European servers, Hyurs are slightly more popular. Anyways, I only felt obliged to comment because it's one of those things that seem to carry a negative stigma towards miqo'te, much like the misconceptions about Seeker lore; so I wanted to try and dispel that notion a little for anyone that saw your comment. Perhaps some servers do have this large, miqo'te imbalance that hasn't been officially shown on a census, but some people say it about Balmung and I have to say that I never saw a whole lot more miqo'te than any other race, so I find the statement pretty odd... and I honestly swear that at least half of the people whom say such things only copy with the person before them said to be part of a group, haha ; Anyways, I'm sure you're right. In fact I bet there will seem like a massive influx since it's a single, new race with nothing else to "water" down it's effects for at least a few weeks after release.
  18. Hyur are just as popular as miqo'te, in fact they are even more popular. In relation to everyone who is complaining about Au Ra's differences across gender, consider the point within this post which I found on tumblr:
  19. Please update the opening post with the wishes or at least the unfulfilled wishes if it's not too much trouble ^^
  20. A small gasp escaped from the girl's lips as K'rahto quickly rolled his weight over the girl until it was now him on top of her. Though she had yet to realise it, this was the second time tonight that she found herself in such an uncomfortable situation, and lucky she was for it, for being reminded of what she had made herself tell her father just a short while ago was something she did not want returning to mind no sooner than it had been momentarily pushed aside. K'nahli squirmed a little beneath the tia's grip but ultimately she made little effort to escape. Aggravating though she found it, he was only behaving as she would have done had it been he who initiated such an assault.... and, more likely than not, he did so because it were now he whom had something to say to her in response. As her moment's worth of surprise drained away with her expression to be replaced by a narrow frown with which she returned the tia's venomous glare, she could feel her tall and slender ears drawing low and closer forward, tuning in near to the tia's voice as he began speaking, short as his response would be. ("...huh?") the thought echoed in the girl's head. Though her confusion were unheard, the thought was reflected clearly in her expression. The girl blinked steadily as she stared deeply into the tia's amber eyes; her curiosity and intrigue to find the meaning of his words stealing her from what should be her attributed discomfort with such an encounter. ("Why..... why would you say such a thing?") the girl's inward thoughts were complimented by a slow appearing, yet lightly drawn frown. ("Is that all you see when you look at me too? An unloving monster whom knows naught but venom?"). K'nahli bit her lip as though preventing the words from slipping past her lips as the tia took himself back to his feet. Her gaze had turned away from him as though she were fearful of him discovering her sadness from this realisation, as she saw it. A couple of seconds of silence followed as neither miqo'te would appear to find the nerve or the intention to speak further, as much as curiosity and anxiety would plague the female in particular. Perhaps it was a blessing in K'nahli's favour that their scene was interrupted there and then. When K'iara finally showed up and, seemingly, physically scolded K'rahto in the only way that an older sibling could, K'nahli took back to her feet almost too casually. Though in part she had actually hoped for an answer to the question that she had come very close to voicing aloud, she couldn't deny that she also felt some sense of relief now that the encounter had come to a close and there was no longer a danger of her saying more than she'd have forgiven herself for later. K'rahto always had a way to make her heart beat just as quickly as he would make her blood boil. It was almost amusing to imagine that he were not doing so intentionally. Thankfully the unusual sight, as it must have been perceived, was not questioned in that moment and K'iara had already thrown herself into the midst of their quarry, signalling the true beginning of the hunt. With her back turned to the events that were suddenly transpiring, K'nahli merely passed a fleeting, yet seemingly, lonely glance over her shoulder in the direction of K'rahto before she quickly retraced her steps to salvage her bow from the shrubs in which she had earlier thrown it. Unscathed, as any rational person would have predicted, though for K'nahli it was enough to warrant a tiny smile of relief. Taking a moment to glance upon it in reflection, the girl turned to join her sisters in their attempt to fell the first beast that K'iara so recklessly clung to. Instead of accompanying them in the same fashion however, K'nahli decided it best to test her previous observations. The girl dashed in closer than her fellow archers and took a knee a short distance away from the beast. With a deep breath and a swiftly drawn arrow, the girl aimed precisely, and from there, patiently awaited for the right moment, one that K'iara's presence upon the beast would almost certainly create.
  21. My Warrior that I've been spending the last while getting to end-game. In the RP he is a mercenary but also deals with tracking down individuals and on occasion, bounty hunting.
  22. There is the possibility that the chocobo's secondary seat is restricted to your partner. Have you considered this?
  23. Ahh, I feel almost guilty now, as though I were telling you you were "wrong" or something, haha. To be fair it's merely my opinion but I feel strong enough about it being close enough the the lore's intentions that I sometimes feel defensive when I see miqo'te portrayed as something a bit "less" than the other typical races. I still see them all as individuals who make their own choices but I don't think that their lore really suggests that they are hedonistic by nature. The miqo'te dancing girls in Ul'dah, miqo'te prostitutes in Limsa Lominsa, and so on aren't suggestive in that regard? In all seriousness, though, I think it seems to be more that there's a stereotype of miqo'te being hedonistic (certainly among RPers) which is, like most stereotypes, not really accurate. The dancing girls don't really strike me as something suggestive. To be fair, I attribute a degree of their more common portrayal as favouritism because many people like the idea of "cat girls" and so I really think that they are merely appealing to aesthetics. As far as I have seen, there have been portrayals of prostitutes for other races too with exception to lalafel(thankfully) and males, but just because you don't see either of them around I wouldn't just assume that non-lalafels and females in general are more hedonistic than males. Though I am bringing this a little off-topic, sorry for that OP and everyone else.
