Cheerful Viera knight seeking contacts and adventure!
Moon Type replied to peachicake's topic in Making Connections
I know the feeling. For a while I spent more time typing up character info than playing the actual game. ^ ^; It's worth it in the end though, especially in your case.- 5 replies

Hello Sen'ra, welcome to the HRPC! Ahh, Yahoo Messenger RP. What a Wild West situation that was, eh? Good memories though just the same.

Welcome Eirwen Gale! Faye has the right of it. In addition to RP settings spoiler conversations sometimes pop up OOCly during Duties, Fates and the like. In either case a respectful /yell or /group request to those around concerning spoiler warnings could help if they're willing to be respectful in return. I've seen players ask those in the Duty how far everyone has gotten in the MSQ before deep diving into any discussions.

Hi Eynar, welcome to the website!

Vikohla: "Sorry if I come off as a little clingy at times, my family helped me to overcome the trauma I suffered during The Calamity but I guess a certain amount of separation anxiety still runs in the background of my mind. Ever notice how I react when certain people seem to be heading towards an exit? And I say something like 'oh, are you leaving?' That's where it stems from. Same goes for my penchant for looping an arm through other people's. It's a mostly benign quirk, but one I have to keep an eye on. I don't want such a trait evolving into being possessive or poisonously paranoid, that would just end up pushing people away and I can do without that flavour of irony in my life." Madame Pholnaset: "You don't understand, I can't return home. Not like this. Not as... whatever it is I've become. I couldn't bear facing my parents, to see the loving expectation in their eyes as they embrace a shadow of the child they once knew. Viridian was right, I'm a mockery of everything Phalloria sought to become. I'm a fraudkin! My masks have masks of their own, and the truth of me is buried so deep in denial that even my fleeting imitation of conscience is pressed to find it. If you truly are my friend please leave me to my sorrow so you can remember me in a fonder light." Joribri: "--perhaps the natives of Eorzea have information on tempering we yet lack. Rest assured I won't let it endanger my assignments, I simply wish to allay the fear that I'm a sleeper agent waiting to be puppeteered by my traitorous father. And if our worst fear is confirmed.. well.. you know what's expected of you. You know what I expect of you."

Welcome to the album of Arcana Westward! o/ This scruffy-haired, bushy eyebrowed, hippy Viera works for the Yellowjacket Department of Transportation as a chocobo caretaker. Influenced heavily by Gridanian culture she hopes to inspire some of the same care for nature and its creatures in La Noscea.

From the album: Officer Westward
Arcana likes to wear earthy tones but isn't against bright, positive colours like a sunny yellow or watery blue. She prefers to have at least one article of clothing be baggy or partially open so as not to feel too constrained. She once wore tight pants and a tight long-sleeved top at the same time and felt the reduced blood flow gave her a headache. Never again. Arcana's superiors have given her a pass when it comes to uniform convention, with the exception of her Yellowjacket department coat. She mostly works at a desk or in the chocobo stables so she's not expected to see any action. This is good because she finds metallic headgear to be the worst feeling in the entire world. She would probably have to go five sizes up to fit in her fluffy mane and floppy ears. -
https://joribri.carrd.co Joribri is but one of many whose lives were uprooted by the Garlean juggernaut. When her adopted family was destroyed during the Garlean invasion of Doma Joribri was taken in by a shadow clan intent on the slow, methodical eradication of all Garlean culture, influence and peoples. Executing their design under the creed "knowledge, patience and time" Joribri's role usually involves information gathering, fostering political division among Garleans and keeping the flames of hatred burning among the Empire's various enemies. She's grown into a very restrained and well honed operative working to sow and nurture the seeds of Garlean demise.

From the album: Joribri
Joribri is very proud of her heritage and although she looks down on most modern samurai clans, especially those rooted in Hingashi, even she has a few personal samurai heroes from ancient history. Though much of Joribri's family history is shrouded in mystery it's possible she's descended from a tribe of Ala Mhigo who, much like the Red Mages, refused to part with their knowledge of magic despite the winds of change. They disguised their forbidden arts in a hybrid monk style named Spirit Monk but ultimately even this was persecuted and they were forced to flee to the far east. When Joribri first arrived in Eorzea she took the easy path of dressing in the same manner as Doman refugees. She offered some gathering items for trade and minor healing assistance to get by. Although she's unfortunately gone far afield from the path her Geomancer caretakers tried to guide her towards Joribri still practices the art of Geomancy. She even attempted to honor them by incorporating their spell-weaving into her shinobi techniques resulting in geojutsu, though local villagers who viewed this as a perversion of Geomancy referred to it as akunojutsu or "evil practice". -
From the album: Joribri
Though an avid practitioner of In-nin ( hidden infiltration ) a shinobi doesn't always have the luxury of invisibility. Fortunately she takes no small measure of joy in the art of Yo-nin ( open disguise ) to hide in plain sight. To this end Joribri gathered information during her travels in Eorzea to learn about their takes on various common jobs, posing as a Doman merchant until she knew enough to imitate the average Eorzean worker. -
From the album: Joribri
Joribri's earliest martial training included variations of monk fighting techniques. Before long she was introduced to Geomancy as a way of soothing her anger towards a class system which placed her beneath the heel of society. When her adopted caretakers were slaughtered during the first Garlean invasion of Doma she was taken in by the subset of a shinobi clan who were nameless and secretive even by ninja standards. Joribri has the tools to become a true hero but she's mired in deep-seeded hatred, particularly towards the Garleans. Growing up with the indoctrination of her shadow clan hasn't helped as she seems almost doomed to fight an old war when the rest of the world has moved on. Who she ultimately becomes will be greatly influenced by the RP characters she interacts with. Will she evolve towards a more noble path or will she become as villainous as the Garleans she despises? -
From the album: Joribri
These garment variations are both a mockery of modern samurai conventions and indicative of Joribir's knowledge of old Hingashi fables. Each variation represents a character from a poem titled "The Four Favored Samurai." In addition to this Joribri has put her own spin on the themes of the story by assigning important elements of Geomancy and Ninjutsu to each character. When offered a great boon by their Shogun the black robed samurai, whose fascination was the earth, asked for head armor to protect the brain from the dangers of the mountains. The blue robed samurai, whose fascination was the air, asked for a mask to protect against the fierce winds brought about by the cold open sea. The red robed samurai, whose fascination was fire, asked for special gloves which would allow the wearer to work the forge and campfires without being bothered by the heat. The green pink robed samurai, whose fascination was the forest, asked for the strength to adapt to nature and live in harmony with it. This samurai was counted as the wisest for desiring to change and grow rather than be shielded and spoiled. -

The season of love has returned and Madame Pholnaset is hoping to make the most of it! This self-proclaimed marriage counselor has been offering advice to couples as a side job for some time but now she seeks to expand this practice to include aiding those on the quest for love! There are two major problems with this. The first is that, when it comes to matters of true love, Madame Pholnaset largely has no idea what she's talking about, though she's often able to offset this shortcoming with magnetic charisma and skillful wordsmithing. The second and greater problem is that she's been selling Love Potions which have garnered concern from those who fear anything resembling Primal Tempering. If her potions are even a fraction of what true tempering involves she'll be trouble. If her potions are benign and do nothing she'll still be in trouble. What will become of Madame Pholnaset's latest enterprise? Will her detractors get her arrested? Will loyal customers come to her defense? Will Madame Pholnaset actually turn a profit on her latest scheme? Only time will tell. -
Thunderbolt300 is a lot of fun to RP with! Friendly, patient and very knowledgeable about combat both in the role play sense and in applying real world martial details to RP. ^.^

Awesome! I'm glad you found an RP FC! The basics of RPing will become natural to you before long, especially when you're having fun. I hope you make more connections through this website and the FFXIV game in general.
-
Discord is a good place to start. Some RP Discord groups are even built up around specific themes, like a miqo'te community or a band of adventurers for hire. Individuals looking to make some RP connections will sometimes add their Discord username when they post about their character here.

Welcome aboard, Le'ellane! Do you have any questions or concerns about getting started with RP in FFXIV?

Welcome to the RPC website, @I_Am_Echo ! RPing in an MMO will start to feel familiar if you've been RPing in chat programs or on message boards. Some basic chat commands often used are /say for when you want to post the dialog of your character, and /emote when you want to post any actions they're taking. With /emote you can mix in some dialog as well. For example, let's say we're posting for a character named Little Scion: /emote walks into the room and says "Where did I put our Garlean coffee maker?" as she taps her chin thoughtfully. In the chat window that post would turn out like this: Little Scion walks into the room and says "Where did I put our Garlean coffee maker?" as she taps her chin thoughtfully. Many find heading to popular RP locations and observing the RP as it happens to be a good starting point. Each of the starting capitals have a major hive of RP and social activity. In Ul'dah it's The Quicksand, in Limsa Lominsa it's The Drowning Wench and in New Gridania it's Carline Canopy. The FFXIV community is pretty friendly so if you're RPing with someone and have questions you could ask them in a tell or in chat. To send a tell to the person you're RPing with you can right click their name and the option will appear in a drop menu. You could also post OOCly in chat using brackets. For example: (( Sorry my post took a while, the cat is trying to use my keyboard ^ ^ )) I hope some of this helps.

Greetings, Gideon, and welcome to the RPC! I hope you're able to make some RP connections and lasting friendships through this website.

Welcome to the RPC, Yuna! o/ FFXIV is a very captivating game in it's setting, stories, characters, job lore and play styles. I can relate to having never played as much of an MMO as FFXIV. ^.^
