Who has two thumbs and is ready to crash in on this train of cutie patooties? This nerd. 8-)

Are you disgusted by the little gummi hamburgers? I have never had a little gummi hamburger but now I must find some. It will be your fault when I descend into weird gummi candy heck. New guilty pleasure: descending into weird gummi candy heck.

Those little gummi coke bottle things? I want to be disgusted by them but I can't. HELP.

Divorce Court.

MGS I could care less about, but Silent Hills? Not too happy about that, no. It's sad, really.

That is really rad and I wish I had the patience to do the same. I'd be interested in seeing how it plays out as well!

Jajara is probs going to be hella wary. Sudden influx of strange, beastly lookin' people walking freely among the city states? It might as well be the first sign of the next Calamity as far as she is concerned. She'll be polite about it at least. Echoing Otto above, she'll probably figure they're some sort of special beast tribe until her ignorant little mind can wrap around the notion that there might be "proper" people besides lalafell/hyur/etc out there in the world. Delial will probably be much more intrigued. She's been only peripherally aware of the stream of Domans coming into Eorzea and it figures they'd eventually bring along their slightly more intimidating friends. Surely, they'll have some interesting stories and secrets to share?

Au Ra Character Creation Screens discussion!
cuideag replied to Uninstalldotexe's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I'm a little less impressed than I thought I'd be but I suppose I won't know for sure until I get my hands on the creator. Pretty excited to see what kinds of Auri we'll be seeing floating around soon, though. -
There is nothing about this thread that I don't like. Bless you.

Yeah, my understanding is that Balmung has been open pretty regularly as of late. Just a matter of catching it. Early morning still seems to be the ticket.

They said little. He was always a quiet man, a softer man than what some believed. They saw the scars on his face and the way he carried himself, poised as ever like the wolf he carried in his heart. They saw a simple man given to unfortunate circumstances and barbaric nature. (He fought back fiercely when they came, snarling like a beast, snarling words she had never heard him utter before, until he saw his darling girl standing there, watching him. But it wasn’t him that had his skin torn apart, circles and circles wound round and round, filled with blood, filled with poison.) She had little enough to say. She had spoken enough, and he obliged her in her discomfort. There was a twist in her spine that clawed well into her gut and she found no relief in words. Wolfsong camped as he had before beside a waterfall near the edge of the La Noscean grassland. It was not exactly quiet for the roar of water was constant, and it was peaceful despite Delial’s presence. The white noise, at least, provided some respite. Her thoughts drifted and wandered but they always returned to him. Gharen worked with the single minded efficiency she expected from a man who had purportedly lived much of his life on his own. A stewpot was rigged over the campfire and she did not ask him where he had found the meats and vegetables that he sliced and cooked in it. In another pot he brewed a tea with a gentle aroma and warm, earthy flavor. She wondered, watching him, if he treated himself so well when he was alone. She wondered why he treated her so well. (A woman in white: white hair, white clothes, white mask. Black shapes and red stains. Chains and the stench of ruin. It was you. Pale eyes bored into her as he spoke those words around a mouthful of blood. It was you.) “Lass?” She shut her eyes and opened them again and Gharen was gently nudging a bowl of steaming strew her way. There was a rise to his brow but she could not meet his gaze long enough to see if she could read concern. It was absurd. He had left her the last time they spoke, left her to deal with Crofte’s betrayal. Shaelen did the talking then: she spoke of Aylard and the way he was torn apart, of Hroch and the innocence that had been torn from his hand, of a woman undeserving of forgiveness. Worst of all, she spoke truths that Delial could not deny. The bowl passed hands. He had his own which he, once satisfied that she would not drop it on her lap, set back and began to nurse. Grudgingly, she began to eat as well, staring deep into brief ripple of vacancy the stew would swallow after every spoonful. At least there, she mused, she could not mistake the glint of water for the shine of a blade. (Spirals over his shoulders and down his chest. A deeper gash, too deep, into his side. A quick jerk of his hand, a gurgle, a stream pouring from a white throat. Gharen howled at nothing but it was a nothing only he could see. You did this. You did this.) The fire crackled and the water rushed and her eye returned to him. He said little of her admission. It was absurd, absolutely absurd, but he said little of it. Gharen was a kinder thing than what they had tried to make him. They called him mad but he stood his ground, strong and stubborn as any good son of Ala Mhigo. It was easier to hate, Delial knew, and call it righteousness. Once, the very sight of him had filled her with the disdain of a lineage she knew to be poisoned with treachery. It was easier to hate, just as it was much easier when he hated her.

What games would you like to get a remaster?

I really enjoyed Theme Hospital. I know it's on Origin but... yeah I would love an updated version. -
Your skin colour versus your character's skin colour
cuideag replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
My two ladies are significantly darker skinned than me. For Delial it was more of an aesthetic choice - I personally find dark skin to be hella foxy - but for Jajara, being one of the last of a long line of desert dwelling nomads, having dark skin just fit. Hroch and Harvard are both lighter skinned than me. I fit in that "too white to be brown, too brown to be white, not yellow enough to be yellow" category. -

Secret of Mana. Legend of Mana done up Odin Sphere style would be hella rad. Shadows of the Empire? And maybe a proper remaster of Silent Hill 2 would be nice. -
I've personally found that being able to establish some sort of rapport IC makes it easier to talk about things on an OOC level. I would wonder if your character would be at all curious why there's some lady going on about some weird religion. Too much time with the beastmen? Maybe something one of those weird Domans brought across the sea? Maybe she's been exposed to some bad somnus or something? There's bound to be a story in there. Maybe they don't actually care at all, which is fine. I suppose I wonder if an OOC dismissal of the concept/player should be the same as an IC dismissal of the character? Granted there are those who react very badly to any sort of critique even from someone that's had some exposure to their character, but hey, least someone tried, y'know?

This this this this a thousand times THIS. This is a wonderful way to make new RP friends, to expand your RP networks, and find yourself swimming in hooks and plots and the rest of that. Popularity, if we want to call it that, takes effort - can't be popular if you can't engage and interact with people. Bad interactions will come along with the good of course, but being open to the possibility of interaction is hella important.

I get what you are saying, but their are limits as to what can be acceptable for me. Awhile back, someone wanted to RP as the daughter of Zeus that somehow has been transported to Eorzea. In no way does that mesh with any lore or with this game at all. And if she chooses to RP that out, I will not try to stop her. She bought the game, it's her subscription she pays. That being said, I would avoid her when IC simply because that is way to immersion shattering. That being said, I have no problem partying up with her and running content etc OOC. I think to many people associate dislike for their RP character, as a dislike of them OOC. Which in my case, is simply not true. I wouldnt avoid her..but I do think my char would have to think she'd been in the sun too long. This has been my approach, usually. If there's something that my character (not necessarily me) would find hard to swallow, then... why not run with it? You might be surprised at how bumping into a crazy adventurer with a few tall tales can make for some interesting interaction.

This has sort of been how I've interpreted blood magic in XIV: an augment. My character either has very poor aether control or very low aether sources so she has been using blood (chiefly with arcanima as of now but I really want to delve into THM/BLM territory for 3.0) as an additional source to give what she can do a some much needed OOMPH. The bit with the Egi is really intriguing to me as well. Originally when I had thought about letting SMN be sort of an IC thing, I wondered if it would be feasible for someone without echo to be able to call one up, and I had toyed around with the thought of using blood sacrifice as a means to accumulate the crystals/aether/aspect rather than having to go and wreck a Primal.

I admit that I get worked up a LOT easier than I should be considering that I pretend to be a sentient potato in a world where Good King Moggle Mog and Hildibrand are things. I'm trying to be more conscious about sticking my nose into certain threads, trying to remember that no, I don't have to butt heads with every thought I might not agree with. I've felt better since I have made a more conscious effort to be excellent. It really isn't that hard, even if I have to remind myuself to try. Still stand by the thought that the RPC is one of the best tools we as roleplayers have to mingle and connect and I do hate the thought that there are people who actively avoid it because of the reputation. Maybe we as a community just need to remember that we are, indeed, a community and make those efforts to make everyone feel included and welcome and valued regardless of whether or not they are new or whether or not they might have some interesting and/or passionate opinions about things. There's my carebear quota for the week. DRGS DROOL MONKS RULE.

I'm in the boat that says Sympathetic Magic grants anything based in blood most of it's power. Got some of it's blood? You got some pull on it you didn't before. Power over it. Power to maybe ward, or repel, or dozens of other things. Trick is making it bleed first, of course, but blood is a hell of a tie to have when practicing any school or tradition of magic that can affect a thing that bleeds. Yesss, yes, this! It's a theme I've wanted to explore in RP but I've never felt confident enough to actually do it. Might have to get some scheming done along these lines, though... HMMM.

IIRC one of the first if not the first BLM quest has you going out to summon voidsent with voidsent blood or whatev, too, so I definitely imagine using blood (be it voidsent or otherwise) still has a part in THM/BLM junk. My personal headcanon has that extended out to arcanistry even, though I am sure officially the Arcanist's Guild would not be OK with people making up schematics with anything vile like blood or whatev. surely, someone's done it though.
