  1. Dear Bards Who Never Song Ever, Yeah, sure, it's just WoL or Expert or whatever casual trash that isn't Final Coil or whatever (yawn!), but would it kill you to... you know. Bard? I promise you, people will notice. Things will die faster. You might even get commendations! You play a crazy fun and great class. Or you could, if you tried. Love, cuideag PS. Do your songs. DO THEM. Edit: for clarification.
  2. Jajara would be grateful, but wary. She knows wizards are scary stuff, but she knows not everything scary is also bad. So she'd thank them, offer them something in return, and politely oblige and pray she isn't making a mistake. Delial would linger, and stalk, and probably try to con her way into a position of pupil to the Mage that she might possibly some day be the one dropping fire storms on others. A girl can dream...!
  3. I definitely remember that spooky lalafell in your sig there. Welcome back, friend.
  4. Oh dang! Kind of makes sense, doesn't it? All that aether just floating free.. might as well put it to use, right? >
  5. teach me Kage-senpai let's go to wizard school together.
  6. My impression was always that a thaumaturge basically used a big ol' stick to focus their own aether into some big bad spells. Decidedly less elegant than, say, arcanistry and likewise decidedly more potentially catastrophic (which is not really a bad thing if you want to really rip out some really big bad spells indeed). I would wonder, though, if stones or crystals would be used in order to really boost certain elemental aspects? Also very curious myself though cause I'm going to need to step into this stuff real soon.
  7. Excessive use of the words little, small, wee, etc. Yeah, Jajara is a lalafell, and she's surrounded by tall freaks. She gets it. Eorzea is a weird place. On Delial's side, it's mostly arguments contrary to whatever advice she might have the heart to dispense for that day. Also, "You should stop drinking." EDIT: Also, "Maybe you should take care of that eye! I know a guy if you ever change your mind..."
  8. Are you disgusted by the little gummi hamburgers? I have never had a little gummi hamburger but now I must find some. It will be your fault when I descend into weird gummi candy heck. New guilty pleasure: descending into weird gummi candy heck. Oops. Edit: Surprisingly, these are super tasty. Like, holy crap. ><; I really like them. HI KAGE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE HAD THESE YET? Oddly enough, haven't been able to find those. Might just have to order some online. Hasn't stopped me from sinking into gummi coke bottle heck, though. I LOVE GUMMI COKE BOTTLES.
  9. My headcanons generally revolve around cultural things more so than job/class/faction related things so I think that, for the most part, both of my characters have plenty of wiggle room to be more or less safe... Jajara is really just some bumpkin from the desert. But if SE somehow decides that, yeaaaaah, nomadic lalafell? They ACTUALLY haven't been a thing in a super long time because, well, Ul'dah is so much nicer...! And we can't explicitly tell you what they live on because, well, they died out so long ago...! So REALLY all Dunesfolk are from Ul'dah and basically Ul'dah only! I think that might actually be an interesting twist, really. Because here's generally amicable, good and honest, salt 'o the earth Jajara suddenly walking around with a big old lie on her shoulders. The question becomes less 'where does she come from' and more 'why is she lying about where she comes from' and it kind of tickles me to think about what those answers could be. So basically, I'd adjust to make sure I remain within the bounds of the law but Jajara herself might not. Instant hook for anyone who might pay attention to lalafell to be suspicious as to why this sweet little barrel of a lalafell spends her days pretending to be a simple merchant.
  10. SCREECHES thank you so much friend, she looks so wicked! *_____*
  11. Why not? Here's one of mine, if you please.
  12. I'll stick with Jajara here because she's really the character that deviates from what might be my "norm", since Delial is a continuation from WoW. I'm fascinated by background characters in the big fantasy epics. The merchants and the little people who might not actually get to, y'know, save princesses or deal with dragons or whatnot but might have had a hand in there somewhere logistically. Someone had to make that hero their weapon and armor, or house and feed them while they were getting psyched up to go confront the Big Bad. Having the potential to beat somebody up is fine and well and Jajara certainly has that (and of the two? times she's actually fought somebody, she's won both times), but choosing not to and instead supporting all those weird friends of hers who do get up to horrible and terrifying antics is really fascinating to me. Jajara is absolutely an NPC in that sense and I find it to be very satisfying because it's a choice she makes as a character. She's proud of her abilities but she's even more proud of the fact that she can chose to not contribute to what she thinks of as the glorifying of reckless, wasteful behavior. Heck, her popoto boyfriend dabbles in all kinds of weird wizardly things and it terrifies her but she still stays out of the way unless she genuinely thinks he or someone else is going to get hurt. Instead, she can just support her friends and (hopefully) the realm in non-violent ways: baking terrible foods or making tools or punching rocks to supply the Guilds and Companies. ... also I was just really in love with the thought of a tiny popoto woman beating the snot out of things so many times bigger than her, and shoulder tackle only solidified my love of MONK. OOC MONK PRIDE!!!!
  13. There was one time I was RPing in the Quicksand and a known troll strolled up and decided that they wanted to try and auction off this "weird black baby" that they found. I rolled with it. Maybe they had fun, I dunno. It was stupid and absurd and poor Jajara became even more angry and embittered with these weird, ignorant tall people that loiter around Ul'dah! Those no-good foreigners making gil off the backs of honest workers! And so on. It was fun. Have fun.
  14. I want to say there was a thread that focused mostly on crafters/gatherers once long ago but I don't think it's been touched in some time. Very neat idea, looking forward to seeing how it works.
  15. I usually like to say that Jajara doesn't have any power but it might be more accurate to say that she doesn't have a solid grasp on controlling what power she might actually have. It is generally assumed that the best things she has going for her are tenacity and discipline: she's put in a lot of time over the years studying and learning and training to become a pugilist and really that's about as far as she's probably going to go officially (unless I do get to do a lot training with an IC MNK someday, an unlikely event given she is more keen on the life of a merchant). I do like to think that she has, however, opened at least one chakra at least once in her life, but probably has no idea that she has done it much less how to do it consciously. Sort of just ... slips into the zone and "wakes up" from that when either things are done or she just can't hold onto it any longer. With Delial I've gone with the bloodline route. Aetherial prowess is a thing in her bloodline though in her own estimation she's been shortchanged. Ultimately it's more a matter of lack of focus: she's had some training here and there, an off-shoot of arcanistry, a little bit of alchemy, and a little bit of low level thaumaturgy though she had never known those magics by those names. It was not until she had come to Limsa Lominsa for any serious length of time that she was introduced to proper arcanistry, built more on mathematics than the old vulgar sigils of her childhood, and she has had a difficult time reconciling the two. What arcanistry she can do is mostly because of memorization and mimicry than a true understanding of the art as it is at its strongest potential. Thaumaturgy, though... that is where her heart truly belongs. She just doesn't know it yet.
  16. I have yet to find a picture of Jajara that it will recognize.
  17. bless yoshi-p. bless him a thousand times. also bless him for not tearing the skin off my hands with his beautiful jewelry when we shook hands. otanoshimini, amen.
  18. It's been a while since I haunted the area and I can't pop on right at the moment to grab a screen, but I used to meet quite a few folks on the street in Ul'dah. There's some benches and such between the Flame's HQ and one of the gates, I think, and I used to park Jajara out there and craft. Sometimes folks would meander by and RP at me, see what I was making and see if I could make anything for them. It's not as noisy as in the Quicksand itself and you might spot folks going from one part of Ul'dah to another.
  19. This is true! Jajara met one of her favorite customers at the Grindstone. She's also a humble little craftswoman who wouldn't mind making another contact in the Ul'dah scene!
  20. These rules have always been here. From the moment you signed up to the site, the rules were there. You agreed to abide by them by registering. I think what Edda might be trying to say is that there are people who aren't actually breaking rules but will be punished/reported anyway by because of people who are looking for reasons to be offended. I wonder if it's good to dismiss a concern because it wasn't worded nicely enough? Kind of seems like it is proving a point, but perhaps not the one you might be pushing for, friend. DING DING DING
  21. This sounds like it could be fun... O_O
  22. Saint Young Men Jesus and Buddha decide to take a vacation to earth and end up renting an apartment in Japan. It's a slice of life I guess? that pokes fun at religion without getting nasty about it. They have a sweet little friendship and get into shenanigans, etc. Just watch it. Anime Jesus compels you. As far as I know there's a movie and two OVAs floating around. [video=youtube]
  23. This is still one of my favorite things in the world. Booty don't lie. [video=youtube]
  24. I agree with this. ^ Bit skeptical about "mob justice" but I think it isn't unreasonable to have ban/warning records somewhere if not in the threads where they are distributed.
