  1. Stop disappearing and you could make some dang connections! /scold Welcome back again. Pretty sure there's some good FC/LSs for a cartographer around. Check up theeeere. ^
  2. I'd definitely try this first.. that is, if you are actually using it to get your name more lore-friendly.
  3. I joined both, the older one seems to be an endgame content matchup. The one made here is for RPers. The old one is Balmung as a server. Entire server. For whatever. RPers and non-RPers. New one that Bryn posted is for RPers on Balmung.
  4. The link you posted for Balmung is actually for the entire server, not just RPers.
  5. I learned to RP in a place called Furcadia (don't judge me ), where the original anthropomorphic Aysun was inspired, visually, by: Cute. The rest of her personality I just sorta came up with as I went. Wasn't really based on anything in particular other than what I wanted to play, a spunky shorthaired girl. Anyway, I used the name in XI and didn't RP, but when I started XIV I had to RP! Her basic personality is similar to what she had in Furcadia. That's what I went into XIV with. Barebones personality. Didn't even have a backstory made up yet. I chose the history I did for her because of my own ignorance about the lore of Eorzea. I wanted her to have a reason not to know many things about it, but not be foreign. So she was raise on a tradeship! I made up her "traditional" name and reason for not using it shortly after I started playing and realized that all Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te had the apostrophe thing going on. Personality-wise, everything just sort of comes together. Like ^they said about their character, there's a reason behind everything Aysun does as well. Even if it's the fact that she sometimes acts irrationally and does things without reason. She's changed quite a bit through RP over the last few years, needless to say, and I love that.
  6. You're kidding right?! There were like.. 3 X's in the Blades! We must have been hoarding them, maybe.. Back on topic, I say go as slow or as fast as you want. Taking it slow will really help familiarize you with the lore and 'current state of affairs.'
  7. How I see it time!: You can still be excellent to each other while seeking a win. I put up party finder groups sometimes that say "mistakes happen, but if you make too many we'll have to ask you to leave." And when people make mistakes, they leave, usually apologizing that they did so, and usually without us even having to ask. The thing is it is excessively frustrating to have someone who has only seen the video once, or never actually been through the whole fight, join in with people who have and know it. You have to go through the learning phase with learning parties. The only way to know the fight well enough to win is to practice, which you should do with others who need to practice, not with those who have done that already and know it and would like to farm or get their win for the week. They've been through the learning already after all, and are strangers to you, you can't expect them to spend time wiping when they've already spent time wiping when they were learning. So yea, there are a lot of mean people out there. You can still do learning parties to learn with randoms or with friends, and you can still do win parties requesting experienced/non-laggers without being a jerk about it!
  8. I'm telling you man we live right next to the biggest rp hot spot on the server at the moment! Wander in the Quicksand! Also RP wif me moar. :3
  9. Aysun does noooot like people in her personal space. She'll lean away, flinch if the touch is sudden or particularly intrusive. She may even hit someone if it is taken the wrong way. Unless they are close friends, then she will accept it/enjoy it. She is awkward about hugs and such! Not liking to be touched seems common too, really.
  10. I'm perfectly fine with the assumptions people make that those with the Echo are tempered by Hydaelyn already. I'm fine with the Twelve being basically the equivalent of primals themselves. That stuff is in lore, of course. That said, I'm speaking in majorities, because the other variety feels snowflakeish to me. ONE small group of people killed Titan once without being tempered. I don't remember that particular part of the story myself, but it's been awhile since I've done it. You don't think Titan would learn from that? There are a FEW people that are allowed to live out their lives as tempered beings. Being /that/ special isn't always smiled upon in RP, so that's why I was offering the generalizations I was.
  11. That is... very bold. I'm not sure how a primal could be devoted to your character (??), but now that they're tempered they're certainly devoted to the primal. Their life revolves around finding ways to summon that primal. Their very purpose is to do that, and get others to as well. Please keep in mind that if people find out (and it is rather obvious when someone is tempered..), execution is the treatment for those who are tempered. For the good of Eorzea. -Mentally: How strong is the devotion of a tempered, does it vary between primal? Does not seem to vary at all. It is complete commitment and servitude to that primal and summoning them. -Magically: Every tempered tribe with a primal seems to gain strength from that primal's element in a way non-tempered tribes don't. For example, unlike all other sylphs and lizardmen, the brotherhood of ash and little solace do not seem to have lightining/fire control. Is that elemental proficiency a boon of the primal? Or is it just a coincidence. The Brotherhood of Ash and the sylphs of Little Solace are not tempered, so that is why you see the discrepancy. -Communication: Tempered are often spoken of as hearing the will of the one that tempered them, can primals and tempered communicate through some special means? I don't think it's communication so much as the primal exerting their will on the tempered person. They're not going to have a chat with the primal. They're going to do what it wants, and it wants crystals to be summoned with, and more people to temper, by any means necessary. EDIT: I also notice in your wiki you state that she's hunted primals before. In order to do that without being tempered, one must have the Echo pretty much. And if one has the Echo, they can't be tempered. Confusion!
  12. OT: AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING. /shoos
  13. I'm pretty sure that's normal.. Done plenty of it myself. The wiki is a good place for it that's for sure.
  14. Welcome back, Oskar. While I'll miss your original character concept, I'm sure what ever you play you'll play just as well as you did him!
  15. I'm someone on the opposite end of the spectrum. I dislike the various mounts. I like chocobos and that's it. ._. /BORING
  16. Some of us don't really like applying the "IT'S MAGIC" clause to everything in game, though. The passage of time in game is simply for the benefit of the players. It's a game mechanic and as with many other game mechanics, can be ignored by RPers in favor of real-world time. I usually just say EST time is Eorzea Standard Time to keep it simple when I RP.
  17. Wooow. How gorgeous!! Out of practice you say.. jeesh..
  18. Wow... That's all I can say. This is some serious lore. Please, show us what you can.
  19. How prettyyy. I'd do a paypal one! You just want us to send you a PM? I love seeing non-digital stuff.
  20. Crystalline does this. There is a free company that is not mandatory, but the IC side is in LS. We have rules in place to keep the chatter in the FC to a minimum so that people that only have the LS are not left out. Personally I love it when RP groups are smart and have their IC side in LS instead of FC, because it's so restrictive only being allowed to join one FC.
  21. Probably due to how cats have much more powerful noses than humans - not nearly as powerful as dogs though. It was stated a few times in 1.0 and again in ARR, though I neglected to take screenshots. I'm not sure about night-vision for Seekers, maybe better than humans but not as good as Keepers. It's possible that Seekers have more acute vision as long as there's adequate light due to the vertical slit pupil shape that they share with real life cats, a trait that Keepers don't share. Keeper eyes are just super wide all the time. OT: My own interpretation on the subject of their vision is a bit different. Seekers are diurnal and have slit pupils like cats we see IRL. But cats have night vision due to an extra reflective membrane in their eyes that allows the light to pass through the retna essentially twice. IRL cats use this and their ability to have monster-pupils (like Keepers) to see in the dark. To me, it would not make much sense that a diurnal race would have the evolutionary trait that nocturnals have. I assume that Seeker pupils don't dialate much, limiting their night vision, whereas Keepers, who's eyes are always dialated see very well if not better in the dark than in the light. Just my opinion though!
  22. I can't DM for anything myself but I appreciate those who can and really enjoy DM'd events, when they are done right! "Right" to me means while the DM may have an idea of the outcome, he or she is able to react and adapt to what characters do along the way and adjust course as needed! No scripted RP for me! Keep doing what you're doing. Lots of people enjoy giving to the DM's whims.
  23. I really want to attend one! Glad that they're still going on. Thanks for bumping this as I had lost the link.
  24. Fire indeed... I'll just answer the question. My Miqo'te is a Miqo'te, not a neko or some such. So she has Miqo'te traits, not feline. This includes the occasional rolling of an R (when she's drunk is pretty much the only time that comes through in her accent), use of her tail and ears in expression, and she possesses racial traits such as a heightened sense of smell. She places a hiss on her H's in some instances when it would be called for (such as pronunciation of a Miqo'te name), and may hiss words when she is very angry, but not a feline hiss. I enjoy playing a Miqo'te with traits shown by NPC Miqo'tes rather than pulling from cats/nekos.
