  1. Hmm, yeah, I'm hearing about this happening multiple times just from my lurking in Mor Dhona, and I'm additionally being booted at every boss pull of The Stone Vigil Guess it's time to do leves instead!
  2. Hey there! After leaving an instance with a friend, we both got immediately disconnected and seem to be unable to log in. Anyone else getting this issue? I think I've encountered the same error a day or two ago trying to log in during the wee afternoon hours but a few tries got me in in no time at all. Is this just us, or really a server-wide thing? We're both back in game, but this is the first time in the month I've come back to FFXIV that I've noticed this happening before!
  3. This ^ I dunno, it feels a bit much to be taking formalities so seriously in theory-crafting :B We'll find out when we get there!
  4. Anyone else getting "The lobby center has encountered an error"? servers y u do dis T-T
  5. DEMURE GNOME CLERIC FROM A CHILDREN'S WORKHOUSE WHO CAN'T SLEEP INDOORS but after that I got IRRITABLE ELF SORCERER FROM THE GLADIATOR ARENA WHO IS CURSED TO SPEAK IN SENTENCES OF EXACTLY TEN WORDS This site is amazing.
  6. This right here! However in terms of times that you're trying, I'd instead advise 4am to 7am CST, as that's when I've always had luck and can ensure you you'll spend less time hunting character creation haha Also, during weekends and holidays there will be no chance to make new characters. As you might imagine, students stay up much later during these times and make up a fair amount of the server population!
  7. "I like your face. ..." Likeliest followed with a stiff retreat. I can't imagine her being remotely suave with pick-ups.
  8. I'd also be willing to help! Feel free to toss me a PM or tell in game and I'll do what I can!
  9. Ooo, if I catch you while you're online Keil I'll be sure to hit you up! Should prove both fruitful and interesting!
  10. Yeah, just made my alt a minute before 1:00am CST, felt good :'D That being said, any who are interesting in making toons should try again within exactly three hours! You may luck out!
  11. Ahh, was wondering when they would do this. Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Yep, that's because you have files set in place in the code for pictures that don't exist! Once you swap those out for real files, you won't be tagged for that anymore. You can add tags by doing this: at the very bottom of the page!
  13. I know exactly what you mean and in fact feel it constantly when lurking roleplaying hubs. I've found that the perfect remedy is roleplaying that you're confusing the other character with someone you think you know, or asking them if they know of a missing item, person, etc. Basically, making up a reason to talk to a random stranger. That in mind, if I see you in game around popular roleplaying hubs I'll hit you up, if you wouldn't mind it!
  14. *deep breath for wall of text* I would dare to say that I believe folks on Balmung to be just as friendly as I hear the folks on Gilgamesh to be since every time I've run along on a new character, folks ask me if I'm a new player or an alt and if I need a Free Company or any help at all, so I think it's really the FFXIV:ARR community that does that as a whole! I would further dare to say that the difference between Balmung and Gilgamesh does indeed come down to the concentration of roleplay, and so, your decision depends almost entirely upon what kind of roleplay you most often find yourself doing and what you enjoy about roleplaying. If you enjoy tavern roleplay, Balmung is crammed with it! You can't jump twice without falling on top of someone, and at prime-time, this is literal. If that interests you, I suggest poking your head in around the inn in Ul'dah (which is quite often the most concentrated spots of random roleplay) and decide if what you're seeing is what you want. However, if you're less interested in random tavern roleplay and instead find yourself looking more into to Free Company or Linkshell related roleplay, I'd advise asking around in the shout channels of Ul'dah to see what you can find! I'm certain people in Gilgamesh would answer you in a heartbeat and tug you on in and you'd have no problem at all finding that sort of roleplay. The difference between the two servers really does come down to the concentration of roleplay, and if that's a very key element to your enjoyment of the game or its roleplay, then these are the things to be considered!
  15. Hmm, perhaps you should make a personal thread regarding your indecision so folks can help you with your decision so as to not bumping the thread used to notify others of Balmung's character creation status? If you do, I'll put my two cents in there, otherwise this is a tweensy bit off topic and keeps making me think [when I'm tired enough] that Balmung might actually be open haha
  16. Yeah, just thinking about that grind makes me turned off from going along the process right now, however... it does make a fair time-sink and goal to set oneself to, so once I've got my two characters firmly leveled, geared, etc I'll start torturing myself with those quests. Good luck, you all have more bravery than me T-T
  17. Might be an expected answer, but I'd say do what you want. Kellach saying "Do it" makes me want to back him up, though! And adding on to what Kellach says, if it's all head-canon it can help you keep things organized in your head, so long as you have the patience to put it all on paper and would remain interested in the character after the beans are slightly spilled. I know that I personally have problems enjoying characters after I spill out their entire history in a wiki or profile, but that can be easily remedied with a wordpad and simply snipping out or spoilering the history sections! It'd probably be best to advise to create a wiki on a character you intend on keeping, take it from me, because if it's a fling of an alt you might end up wanting to junk the wiki after deleting the character.
  18. Yes, that was my point. Oh jeeze, then my apologies, I must've read that wrong
  19. That's just one NPC though,, and suggesting that it's not too impressive further suggests that it'd be below average. It almost re-enforces the fact that just like real people, fantasy races can come in all sorts of packages (ahurrhurr) so there's really no telling and it's not worth beating to the brink of death over every little minuscule detail and using little jokes as racially encompassing lore.
  20. Dunno what he was doing then, but he was all out of MP and not tanking in the slightest.
  21. I just tanked all of Ifrit as an Archer (only level 29) because... goodness knows what the tank was doing. Was fun at least in that it was different I guess, feel bad for the healer who had to deal with the unconventionality of it all. Edit: I guess I kept this rather short and neutral when this is a vent thread after all! It was frustrating and I even asked if the tank was afk, but then looked over to see him out of MP. Guess he wasn't using enough Riot Blade to be able to use MP abilities like Flash or Provoke, but dang... was pretty frustrating until we got past nail and I was still alive because the healer was keeping me up. At that point I was like "Wellp, no point in crying now"
