I like to see it much as how it works in real life. Humans come in all shapes and sizes and seeing a woman wih a waifish body as opposed to a man with rippling muscles really isn't unordinary. Likewise, women naturally develop less body hair than men, so I find it fair that reptilian-eske human females have less scales than males. To be honest, the demorphism really isn't that bad at all, and I might dare to say its a bit overly dramatic to call it such at this point in time. I would consider real demorphism being, say... the difference in World of Warcraft races. The difference within Tauren, Trolls, maybe even Draenei considering how despite being the same race they have radically different spines and skeletal structures. That being said, I'm worried Au Ra might look too repetative with how many fleshy hyur-like races are going to be playable.

I will admit, when I very first saw the female Au Ra I was also disappointed in how similar to the female hyurs looked, but I reminded myself that they have a dragon theme tied into them; From what I heard via rumours, they were the result of mating/merging/goodness knows what with dragons, so I understand I suppose. (Perhaps that counts as the lore making up for it to me, if the rumours are true?) Really, the only reason it'd've disappointed me is because I keep one of every race on my playable roster and I don't like having duplicates. :B But I do believe that the males look a bit different than the elezen males, if only because I find the elezen race to be anatomically lanky and a bit awkward. As someone who studies realistic art, hrrngh their heads and proportions... shoving the thought into the back of my mind as, "Shush A'toli, it's a fantasy race, they're not humans" helps. Back on track to the male Au Ra, wow. I'm pretty pumped to see their character creation, same goes for the females (but perhaps a tweensy bit less so). Edited to chop up a run-on sentence, holy cow.

*Grabby hands* Include screenshots! Edit: Also, once you hit level 15 if you have any hankerin's for dungeons, I can get you in a bit swiftly with the White Mage I'm leveling!

I burst out laughing. The expression is perfect for the caption

I'm... not sure how to word this, but as you said what others say you take to heart, perhaps consider that what you say, they too take to heart? I feel like thinking of other people as being as easy to hurt as yourself may be can really help yourself grow sympathetic. I additionally believe that in order to deserve or warrant sympathy, you yourself needs to be sympathetic. Much as previous posters had said, what you put in is what you get, and you must always be kind to receive kindness.

Good to see a linkshell for RP organization in other servers!

Darnit, my phone is so fussy about letting me quote! But man, extra goodies for hunting down the CE version physically? Yeeees. The hunt is on (during release that is!) The male Au Ra look fantastic and the females are so lovely. This will be a difficult alt decision.

They kind of... lank. Awkwardly, I felt, especiallyconsideringhowsmalltheirheadsarehrk.

Thank you everyone for your answers! I should have looked into the spell book at future spells prior to making this, I'm certain it would have saved me from having to ask, ahah. I hadn't realised Blizzard III and the like had immediately set stacks, that makes it so very easy. The way I was thinking about it all was, "Well I got this nifty spell, but should I get reliant on it or wean off of it, as it may be seen as a bad habit at end game?" Relieving to know that it doesn't matter, I'll definitely keep all of this in mind, and thanks again so much for the helpful responses!

Unless you plan to strictly heal! In that case, you should stat into mind, but be warned, it'll make your summoner not be as efficient as if it was straight-specced for intelligence. Likewise, statting straight into intelligence will make healing a bit more difficult. It's the only job that really needs careful planning. (I learned that the hard way when I first started playing.)

I was honestly expecting Vierra for some odd reason to be the new race, but dang, I'm so fine with Au Ra And wow, was really expecting different from the new jobs but that's all fine by me! Very, very pleasantly surprised, especially by seeing Machinist now in the mix.

Hello, there! I'm going to use this thread for any questions I have as I go along leveling various classes. (I've decided to hunker down and get all of my classes to 50 before looking to leveling alts due to the fact that A'toli will be my main and my sort of... feet-wetting character.) I'm afraid that I'm going to be having many questions to ask, so eh, may as well dump 'em all here as they pop up and hope for replies! On to the question... Right now I'm leveling a black mage (or well, soon to be, it's level 24 and I plan to level it to 50 next if I don't find myself too busy on white mage) and I wanted to know, when are you supposed to be using Transpose? I've always used it when I was out of mana during Astral Fire stage as a quick fix onto Umbral Ice, but should I be using this every time I switch between the two?

Whoo! Hope to see you on Balmung soon! That in mind, sorry to hear that Gilgamesh wasn't what you were hoping for. Makes me so grateful that I started off on Balmung at the [re]release of FFXIV:ARR. From I hear and seen, I'd be afraid of missing out.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

I feel like ignoring them is the best way for them to get bored and move on. It's always worked flawlessly for me in the past, assuming you mean like jumping in your face, physical trolling any stuff like that. The other night I was in the tavern with friends and there was a giant man in a fat chocobo suit running around with a fork. Everyone sprinted up from the table and chased him down, he seemed to be a pretty good sport and it was pretty fun to watch -
To save the hassle of leveling one up, possibly. Yep, this right here! At rank 6 you get access to land, so if anyone was ever interested in making a free company and purchasing a house, half of the work is cut out for them.

Painfully oblivious. :B

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

The only reason to put something to sleep is to alleviate pressure on the healer. In most instances (read: dungeons), that should be absolutely unnecessary. If the healer needs less incoming damage on the tank, then either the tank is undergeared or unskilled, the healer is undergeared or unskilled, or both. Yeah, I definitely recognise that sleeping really hinders DPS, which is why I don't normally do it unless the tank is pretty squishy and the lowest level requirement for the dungeon, which he was He was melting when he had more than -two- mobs on him, so I was really throwing sleeps around. We actually wiped once on trash because he pulled two packs by accident and even though I slept half, he just melted in seconds under them. He had all whites, which really wasn't helping any. -

Alas, World of Warcraft. There I played god as the healer, and refused to tank pulls as a tank (just like Madda. High five!) -
After a lot of wishy-washy thinking it over, I'd like to request that I also have A'toli tossed on that list! Her vocabulary is fair, but her handwriting would be atrocious and her reading skills lacking. This could be a great opportunity to have her improve over time. I'd like for her to start of anonymous because she'd be rather ashamed of her poor writing skills. I would also like to emphasis that I'd like to be paired with someone who frequently visits the forums or would also be interested in frequent correspondences! Haha

Be warned that it has a slow build up. Most of Hammock does, but it's nice for idly listening to.

Pfft, don't be afraid to roleplay anything. Things may scrape against the majority's favoured opinion in the most -extreme- of cases, but that's a rarity, and at the end of the day the only opinions that matter is your own (and perhaps your friends). Everything mentioned reaffirms my opinion that most cases are just miscommunications, and if folks are blurring the OOC with the IC, well, there's not much that can be helped.
-
This right here, however I will admit, I've seen numerous characters made on the note of promiscuity for the sake of fulfilling, ya know, OOC urges we'll call 'em. At the end of the day, I just roleplay with the folks I enjoy and I don't worry about other peoples' roleplay. I feel like it's really the best approach, and getting OOCly hostile about it is almost out of place if not a bit odd. It's one of those things where if it's not your friend or yourself, it doesn't really matter Edit: Ooo, and in regard of experiences... most (if not absolutely all) of the villain or antagonist playing roleplayers I've come across were very understanding, generous people. *Scratches head* It's a bit odd how people can blur the line. As previously mentioned, might just be due to folks seeing too many characters that were roleplayed similar to the player and they just remember their experiences too well. At the end of the day, as Iex said best, it really seems like a miscommunication more often than not!

... Yeeees. I'd like to enter into this anonymously with my male Roedygan (pardon my potentially poor spelling) named Howling Wind. Howling Wind would be quite frequent. Edit: Bloop bloop bloop bloop. Oodles and oodles of wishy-washy-ness!
